Thank you for faving Breaking (Down The) News.
Your endorsement will certainly make headlines. :moustache:

Really seemed like a suicide to me, but looking a second time I guess it is rather ambiguous.

See, this is the point where I tell you I wrote the ending to be a Sonic Rainboom, only cutting it short because of pacing and also the exhilaration of a rainboom would have been a complete 180 on the tone. Rainbow Dash does not commit suicide. She is indeed in the perfect position to most likely not kill herself, which is why she doesn't.

It was good. I didn't expect the ending, which was a sad surprise in a good literary way.
I don't find quite realistic Dash would commit suicide, while veterans do have very high rates of suicide and depression, she seemed to be in the perfect position to be not-depressed (e.g in a stable job doing something she enjoys with a similar camaraderie to warfare), although it wasn't deal breaking since she could still be an unusual edge case. That's more of a political opinion than a writing one I know.
Some more worldbuilding about what the war was like might have been nice(e.g briefly describing what happened in some battles, major events that occurred in the war). I for one enjoy world building a lot.

Glad to see that you enjoyed This Isn't War! Would love to hear what you thought!
