(Inspired by the premise of Samurai Jack. Updates every Thursday.)

Not everything went as planned when saving the Crystal Empire. Applejack finds herself thrusted three hundred and two years into the future, where King Sombra has seized back the throne and his evil is law. The humble farmpony is now tasked with navigating through a futuristic world of automatons, biodiversity, deception and general darkness, her only sidekick a sword made of the purest love and kindness.

If she ever wants to return home, that is.

"Thirty-eight days. It’s been thirty-eight days since I was exiled out here, out into the desert of Celestia-knows-where, originally miles from the nearest town... the idea that I could get her home and leave unscathed was ridiculous. Equestria wanted her back, without a doubt, but what they also wanted was me – they wanted me in a prison cell, or a dungeon, or in a torture chamber, or, most likely, in a noose."

"I had to try, though. Wasn’t that enough?"

Sequel to not-as-well-written "The Fire and the Flutter" (http://www.fimfiction.net/story/13386/The-Fire-and-The-Flutter)

Evergreen is a born climber, always looking for a challenge, never in less-than-top shape, and ready to tackle anything. Fourleaf...is not. But, if she can become the first earth pony to summit Mt. Violet, influence, fame, and - more importantly - wealth, will be all hers. You can't open up a dream business without any cash, right?

As Fourleaf will find out, though, as she steps in as the third and most vital member of Evergreen's climbing team, that Mt. Violet is no easy feat. Not only the tallest around, but also the most dangerous. Out of the few ponies who ascend, even fewer come down. Excluding the fact that a cutthroat competition has got everypony and anypony on edge for winning.

Love, friendship, betrayal, fury, tragedy, and outright danger await the earth pony on the mountaintop. Does she have what it takes to scale High Violet? Better yet, does she have what it takes to return?

(An Albumfic - based off the album of the same name by The National)
