As a whole, I've found Season 4 a bit of an...uneven ride thus far. We've had some very high highs, to be sure, but we have also had some very low lows, and between the two extremes it's felt mostly OK but not great; there have simply been too many episodes this season that left a bad taste in my mouth, and the ratio of those that did vs. those that didn't, and the degree to which they did, has been too lopsided for me to ignore. I don't want to call it bad, understand, just...disappointing.

I'll have a more detailed review up later, but suffice it to say, while it struggles to stick the landing, this is easily the best Epic Story the show's done since "A Canterlot Wedding", maybe even since the original "Friendship is Magic" two-parter. I'm VERY satisfied with it, more so than I've been with the show for what feels like ages.
