This story is a sequel to A Guiding Light

The world of Equus has been at peace for an age; Princesses, Elements of Harmony, and Spirits of Chaos have slipped from society and into myth. In this new era Equestria has become - along with all other nations - regions of habitation rather than a national identity. In this new future many species have come together to create artificial life through a mix of enchantments. Unexpectedly awareness came to being with this artificial life.

As a result the kindness instilled in modern generations led to the fortunate choice to give these new beings their own bodies. Many of these creatures, while once golems, are now equals to all others on Equus. The only real difference to them is their method of gestation, a crystal imbued with a great deal of enchantments set to operate machines until awareness happens. Some of these Synths can pass as flesh and blood thanks to the changeling magic that is part of them, others look like heavily augmented organics.

Sky Skimmer is one of these synths. A strange, passing visitor sparks the growth of their awareness and eventually embrace the Open Skies they had never truly perceived.
