I just watched the original Alien for the first time. Afterward, I spent an hour or so calming back down enough to stop trembling from adrenaline. Now the worrying part: Left to it's own devices, my mind has begun assembling some rather terrifying parallels between Changelings and xenomorphs. As an author, I have a couple of preferred creative methods.

The one I like is feedback-based writing. I write something, look at comments and feedback on it, then use those criticisms and suggestions as a framework to make more writing easier. It requires a certain amount of reader interaction, but once I have it I can almost write consistently.

I have finally gotten my shit together enough to write chapter two of A Plea for Help. I didn't expect to write one, but I guess we all surprise ourselves.

I now have a new conundrum: I need an editor. Or two. I just want someone to go over it and tell me what I did wrong where. I want to get better as a writer, so I have a rule for my editors: Criticize ruthlessly. Don't be gentle, don't sugarcoat anything, and only compliment something if it is genuinely amazing.

I was just asked by my girlfriend's mom to stop communicating with her. Apparently she doesn't trust me, and she thinks I've been a bad influence on her daughter's mental health.
