This movie's production history could be made into a movie itself. Going through multiple scripts and having origins as both a stand-alone Godzilla movie and a stand-alone Mothra movie, Toho eventually decided to fuse two unmade movie scripts together. After further editing and reworking over next few years, such as the new kaiju for the movie changing from a parasitic scorpion-wasp to a mutated Mothra called Gigamoth; until we finally got Battra.
