Princess Cadence was murdered. Well, that's what other ponies say. There was a fire at Shining Armor and Cadence's home, and Princess Cadence was gone. Blue and magenta feathers were found. Pieces of a rainbow mane. A few strands of Cadence's mane too. Rainbow had been seen going into the house. She wasn't seen coming out. Rainbow Dash claimed that she didn't kill Cadence, but Princess Celestia banished her beyond Equestria where she had no hope of surviving with her wings clipped. Rainbow almost dies and is saved by Soarin', a member of the Wonderbolts, just like her. He was banished too for some crazy reason. Nopony knows why. He just won't tell.
