I'm working on a human AU fic, and I became curious. Some places in pony world (saddle arabia, for example,) are clearly analogous to countries in our world. There are also fanon stand-ins for real world countries, like neighpon for japan. So, in writing a human au, the question becomes, "do I stick with pony terms because it's a pony fan work, or do I use real world locations because the characters are human?"

So, I've seen a ton of people give Rarity the last name Belle, on account of Sweetie Belle. Which makes perfect sense to me. It's the only last name the family has, aside from the mother's "Crumbles."

but I have yet to see anybody apply the same thing to Fluttershy. If we accept Belle as Rarity's last name, shouldn't Breeze be Fluttershy's on account of Zephyr? I haven't seen anybody do that yet. I might do it if it comes up.

Eh, you know. Just a thought.

I'm thinking about finding an editor. or a pre-reader. or maybe someone to co-write with on a project or two. I haven't made any firm decisions, I just feel like I should try this out, because I've really never done anything with another person before. So, this episode shows us that ponies have anime, or perhaps just manga. and not only is that the case, but, how this is presented seems to show that Fluttershy likes sailor moon, evangelion, revolutionary girl utena, dragonball, and ranma.

I don't know why, but the implication that fluttershy is an anime fan makes me feel weirdly giddy.

And it can't just be a one off gag, as somepony else was sailor moon earlier in the episode as her nightmare night costume.

I saw someone had added Prominence to a bookshelf they'd titled "I wish these would update :(" and I've decided I should address the issue. first and foremost: I'm working on it. but where I used to be able to crank out half a page every morning before work, now I'm struggling to get a sentence or two out. some days I can't come up with anything. I'm stuck in a bit of a creative rut, but I assure you, I'm opening the document and trying to progress every morning.

Soooo, my hard drive may be kaput. I'm talking to you from a back up computer.
