On the Sliding Scale Of Cynicism Vs. Idealism, I like to think of myself as being idyllically cynical. (Patreon, Ko-Fi.)

A writer's brain works in stupid ways. · 8:37pm Aug 22nd, 2014

Yes, I'm perfectly aware of how much I just set myself up there, thankee. It's just... sometimes, one idea leads to another.

Here's the current chain.

1. In Triptych, I said that taking somepony else along on a teleport is called escorting and that Doctor Gentle hadn't learned how to do it.

On a Trope page revamp for 2500 unique page views, and Naked Lunch/Lazy River aftermath. · 5:24pm Aug 21st, 2014

Let's go with the second part first, because it allows me to say this with (more or less) a straight face.

We are in full compliance with William Goldman's first rule of Hollywood.

Nobody knows anything.

The Internet fails to find pictures of Pinkie competing on Game Show Network · 6:23pm Aug 20th, 2014

Stupid Internet.

This happened last night on the States edition of The Chase. Female contestant, obviously. Name could have been Lizzie or Lizzy: I missed the first crucial seconds of her introduction. She worked in the toy industry and described her job as 'spreading fun'. She was a happy sort of person. She had pink hair. And in order to set the mood and calm her opponent down, she brought the Beast a giant lollipop.

The purest love · 7:01pm Aug 19th, 2014

Yesterday, I spent some time at my local mall -- the first visit in a while where I've just had a chance to wander down the hallways and look over the new arrivals. One of the fresher Grand Opening signs belonged to Build-A-Bear -- which, in the States, is the franchise which will sell, stuff, accessorize, and help you adopt your chosen pony on the spot. It was my first real chance to look at the product, so I shrugged once and wandered in.

The priorities of the species. · 1:46pm Aug 13th, 2014

I just saw a commercial for a new series coming to the Weather Channel. As with so many WC original offerings, it's all about the myriad ways in which the world can kill you, with this particular edition focusing on death-or-nearly-so via hurricane. The preview spot featured a young adult male who had made the mistake of opening his front door during Hurricane Sandy, only to be sucked out onto the porch, where he apparently flipped over the railing before grabbing onto it with both hands,

Robin Williams died.

Apparent suicide.

The One-Shot Story Least Likely To Succeed... · 3:21pm Aug 7th, 2014

...will probably be the one I work on over the weekend.

First, before anyone gets the whips out, here's a one-word preview of the next chapter for A Mark Of Appeal -- namely, that chapter's title: Safeword. And I'll warn everyone in advance: there will be in-story discussion of what might pretty much be a local ultimate in last resorts.

In honor of Sonic Rainbigot crossing the 1000 Upvote line: an incredibly racist statement. · 8:33pm Aug 3rd, 2014

Due in no small part to the demographics of my neighborhood, I have made a number of friends --

-- isn't that just the perfect way to open an incredibly racist statement? 'I need to immediately establish that I have friends from this group, which theoretically entitles me to say everything which comes next'? --

Sharks On A Plane · 1:23am Jul 31st, 2014

The sequel claims Andy Dick would be hired as an officer by the NYPD.

Y'know, of all the possible ways the movie could have shot all its dubious credibility in the first twenty minutes, that wouldn't have been the one I predicted.

Oh, and they just claimed airborne homing shark with a grudge. So now we're ripping off Jaws, only with flight and airplane-tracking shark GPS. Plus the background weather forecast called for twelve inches of shark accumulation.

This is art.
