Rainbow Dash was an independent filly. She always thought going through life solo was the way to go. But once a yellow filly at Flight School catches her eye, they strike up a swift and unlikely friendship, a friendship that runs deep and true. A friendship that changes the way Rainbow Dash looks at certain things. With her life changing so fast, the cyan pegasus finds she is confused and unsure about herself, unsure about how she feels. But she knows that she would do anything for her friend, be it save her from her tormentors at school or teach her to fly. Fluttershy was important to Dash, and even amidst her confusion, that fact always made sense to her.

To love somepony is easy. To let them into your heart, somepony you care for, somepony you want to protect, somepony you would do anything for. Letting them in is easy. The pain comes when you lose them. This is something Applejack is not unaware of. However, after suffering yet another crippling loss of life to one of her own, the well-known farm pony begins to lose herself, falling into a pit of despair, trapping herself in a cycle of self-blame, anger, and agony. Watching her friend do this to herself is unbearable for Rarity, who makes her way to the farm determined to try and help the friend who doesn’t want it. But she has to try. Because, isn’t that what friends are for?

It wasn’t Rainbow Dash’s idea of a good time, but watching the Butterfly Migration was a perfect excuse to spend time with Fluttershy. Their conflicting schedules had been forcing them apart for the past few days, and for a while the two simply enjoy each others company. But as the afternoon drags on, and thought’s that Rainbow has tried desperately to fight back begin to surface, things get out of hoof fast. A disastrous accident brings the two closer together than they have ever been before, and soon the peaceful afternoon becomes a fight for survival. This is a story of self discovery, and a confusing, but prosperous relationship between two mares.
