National Scarlet Comes Out Again Day · 2:01pm Dec 31st, 2015

Hi, I'm Scarlet, and I think at this point I can just go ahead and say I'm definitely genderfluid.

Not that any of you needed to know that, but hey. I'm finally getting around to presenting it sometimes.

Why are there never enough pockets, tho?

EDIT: As it turns out on longer reflection fuck gender fluidity why ever revert to the smelly one I don't like. 100% woman.

A Strange Game. The Only Winning Move... · 5:41pm Nov 29th, 2015

So, I have just resurfaced from Retail Worker Hell Week, known colloquially as Black Friday. Basically, this means I have been relatively silent for a while not because of my usual rising and fading interest in the fandom, but mostly because I've been exhausted as hell. Fortunately I've had some practice writing that's going to eventually end up in an actual fic on this account sometime soon maybe possibly, making promises like this always bites me in the end. I also haven't seen the season

That Story's So Gay · 6:42pm Oct 25th, 2015

[This post edited and expanded by my boyfriend. Thanks, darling!]

It may have come to your attention that I’m queer.

Shocking, I know. I make so much effort to conceal it online.

So I did a thing · 2:20am Oct 16th, 2015

Hey, all. I know all five of you who actually read this blog are probably hoping for something... smart-ish? But I'm not in the mood for that right now, primarily because I think all my intelligence went into staring at Undertale and trying to comprehend how the platonic ideal of videogames happened during my lifetime.

Anime Spectacular Pt. 2: GBF Boogaloo · 4:04am Sep 18th, 2015

I went back and forth for two series to use as an example of what I call "middling" characterization. The first was Yuki Yuna is a Hero, a show that I both admire for its central conceit and various concepts and loathe because of how shackled it is to writing for an otaku fanbase. It's a series that deserves to be better than it is, and it also deserves to be talked about.

I decided to do Gundam Build Fighters instead though, because I like giant robots.

H.P. Lovecraft vs. Hasbro · 12:18am Sep 7th, 2015

One of the more interesting aspects of the My Little Pony fandom is that because the online presence skews towards older dudes (and ladies, mostly dudes because the same problems that plague the rest of the net are here too) who really like shows not targeted at their demographic, you get a lot of fan-created content that likes to move away from the established tone of the show and into completely new genres. Cupcakes, Fallout Equestria, and god knows how many others are solid examples of

"Relatable" · 11:18pm Aug 31st, 2015

[This Post cleaned up from its original form by ChuckFinley. Thanks, darling!]

I want to revisit something I bought up off-hand in my last post, especially after watching this explicit argument against "relatable" being the standard for good characters.

Anime and Character Relationships · 2:55pm Aug 26th, 2015

[This may or may not be the first part of a series examining how pulp-art anime deal with the fact that they're often saddled with repetitive or non-existent plots. Read on at your own peril, geekiness may ensue.]

It may have come to your attention, if you're following me, that I am in fact a massive anime fan.

On Chatoyance (The Speed of Right) · 12:58am Aug 12th, 2015

So recently I became an editor for F/F/T3k, which is a fancy way of saying a few people in the group found me making fun of a creepypasta so dull I've actually already forgotten its name and Kudzuhaiku's "The Catch" amusing enough to just let me skip the vetting process for when they compile the documents. I bring this up because that group actually may have done the opposite of what they intended with me. I was told, among other things, that Chatoyance "hated humanity", that one of her fics
