> Friendship was Magic > by Princess Cadenza > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > I'll Never Forget You > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- On that day of my Princess Coronation, I knew one thing; Everything was going to be fine. And I meant it. I knew nothing bad was ever gonna happen again, ever, but the possibilities were endless of what could go wrong. All the worst things that had happened to me before my princess life, Discord, Nightmare Moon, and others had taken over Equestria were the worst. But this was even worse. I was not expecting this. Fifty years had passed, my friends were getting old and broken down. I, for one, had not grown any older or younger. Any Alicorn that would live forever would never look older or younger, or seem as if they've changed at all. But you know how regular ponies that aren't Alicorns will pass of old age? Well, that's exactly what happened to my friends. My only friends. Nothing could get any worse than this. Nothing. The sky, at the time they passed, was blood red. This was a tragic time for me, I spent the next 100 years in sorrow, these were my only friends. Every pony who had been in my young unicorn life had passed by now. Even the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Even Cheerilee, Lyra, Bon Bon, Vinyl Scratch and all those other nice Ponyville ponies are gone by now. That dark time was the worst time of my whole eternal life. They all taught me a thing or two about friendship, and they showed me how great friendship really is. They were the ones that made my life complete, and now they're gone. Completely. I just don't know what to do, there is no spell that can make ponies or creatures come back to life. They showed me that friendship is magic, and for that, I was always grateful for them in my life. The first time my friends met, we quested to find the Elements of Harmony to save Equestria from eternal night. I found out their true selves, the spirits of friendship and harmony. Applejack, honesty. Pinkie Pie, laughter. Rainbow Dash, loyalty. Fluttershy, kindness. Rarity, generosity. Me, well, magic. But this, their passing, was 100 years ago. By now, you'd have forgot about them, but I didn't. This, I had always thought of. Their kind selves showed me that friendship truly is magic, and that is something that made my life complete. There's no way I'll ever forget them, not even the hardest hit on the head will make me forget about the most special ponies in my life-- Whoops, did I just give you any ideas? But Equestria is the past. They have now renamed it to "Ponyquestria" (Ha ha, Celestia knows why they named it that. I personally like Equestria better). Ponyquestria is definitely waayyyy different than Equestria. The ponies are more powerful, there is higher technology, there is no doubt that this is a more modern society than the old Equestria. No doubt about it that this is a whole new Equestria, where there is newer ponies instead of the old ones (I personally like it the other way) and better technology, like computers and flat-screen televisions. Ponynet on the computers, programs and "Trojan ponies" (Luna knows what that's all about) Also, there are video games. Now, who in the world would invent video games?! They rot your brain! Well, then again, so does television. Ah, whatever. Anyway, this is a newer Equestria. That is it. At least I haven't passed, too. But I feel like I want to, in the world that I live in to this day. Alicorns cannot pass. If I knew this was gonna happen to me, I would have stayed a unicorn! Forever! Princess Celestia is walking into the room. I stare out the window, these thoughts running through my head. If you even mention the Elements of Harmony, I swear... The Elements haven't been activated since the spirits of the Elements of Harmony passed. They are still their bearers. "Princess Twilight?" Princess Celestia asks. "Are you all right? Is the stress kicking in? Are-- Are you having those 'thoughts' again?" "Yes," I reply. "I'm having those thoughts again, and I can't seem to get them out of my mind. I just-- In my young unicorn life, I proved that I could do something for once after meeting my friends and now they're gone... I just don't know what to do, Princess." "Twilight." Princess Celestia rests a hoof on my shoulder. "I know it's all hard for you, but this has passed. This was 100 years ago. Worry about today, tomorrow, yesterday, or whatever. Just not something that happened 100 years ago. You can't do anything about it." I closed my eyes as a tear fell from my cheek to the floor. "I'm sorry, Twilight." "Don't be, Princess," I assured. "It's my fault. I should have known that was gonna happen sooner or later, and it did. This is just... Well, those ponies changed my life and then they left me. They showed me that friendship really was magic. That everything will always turn out fine. But then..." I choked back another sob. "Then everything did not turn out fine." "Twilight, their spirits still live around here in Ponyquestria. The Elements that hold their spirits are still around. And think about it... All they gave you still exists." I nodded in agreement. "But you understand that you shouldn't fuss about something that happened 100 years ago, right?" "Uh huh." Princess Celestia patted me on the back and left the room. But how could I forget about the most important ponies in my life? It seemed impossible. Really impossible. I opened the door to a fancy room, where at the end, was the table where the Elements of Harmony sat. I ran over, put the crown on while levitating my princess crown off, and levitated the rest of the Elements of Harmony into the air. They glowed different colored lights. Applejack's, orange. Pinkie Pie's, blue. Rainbow Dash's, red. Fluttershy's, pink. Rarity's, purple. "Thank you," I said, "for all you gave. You showed me that friendship is magic, the one thing that made my life complete. You guys showed me a lot of things about friendship, and that has always stuck to me. I know that everything will always turn out fine in the end. Everything will be great at the end, turn out good. You taught me this. You, my friends, are the one thing that made me me. "At this time, I will continue on ruling Equestria in my same old self. I know one thing. The one thing you taught me was that friendship was magic. It was. Before you left me." The Elements flashed a bright rainbow light as the night sky came up. The light from each Element blasted up into the sky. Constellations in the sky brightened, where they had shapes of the Elements of Harmony bearers. "Live in the stars. I'll never forget you."
