"DOCTOR!" Ditzy yelled, dodging blast after blast in mid-air, one shot singeing her dress.
"I KNOW DITZY! JUST HANG ON!" The Doctor yelled back, sliding behind a wall just out of range of the Dalek blasters. He panted heavily as his thoughts began to race.
Its always weddings, why is it always weddings? he thought to himself as he leapt from behind the wall, just in time to see Ditzy tackle a Dalek.
"DITZY NO!" The Doctor yelled in horror, watching as the Dalek took aim and fired.

It had been a normal day, like all days for the Doctor, that meant trouble around every corner. In that sense, today was quite an abnormal day. He had woken peacefully to a young pegasus mare clinging to him and her unicorn daughter rushing into the room with breakfast. He was still trying to wrap his head around the feeling as he sat at the table, absentmindedly chewing on a bit of hay.

His entire view of life had changed ever since he had been trapped in Equestria or rather the form of a pony of all things. To top it all of he still wasn't ginger. Though that wasn't what was bothering him. The TARDIS still allowed him to travel, but the boundaries between the worlds had become stronger and there were places he couldn't even reach anymore.

All of his attempts to reach Earth had failed. There was more to it than that though. There were ponies here who KNEW him and he had no idea who they were. Which meant he had been here long before he had even been here. There were times when he could appreciate the little quirks of time travel, but at times like this they only worried him. Especially with how he was adjusting to this strange new lifestyle.

Instead of running for his life everyday, he played with a little unicorn filly. Instead of battling Cybermen and Daleks and would be gods, he spent his afternoons in the company of one Ditzy Do Hooves. He smiled over at the mare, earning a blush and a smile in return. There was something about her, he felt drawn to her, he couldn't place his finger on it.

Ha, finger. I don't have those anymore. he mentally reminded himself.
"Mom, your gonna be late!" Dinky said, waving her hoof in front of the wall-eyed pegasi's face.
"Oh! Thanks muffin!" she gave the little unicorn a quick kiss, leaving a light peck on the Doctors cheek as she passed by and quickly rushed out the door. Dinky sighed and lifted her mothers mailbag in her magic, waiting for the pegasus to come back for it. Moments later she returned with a sheepish smile, snatching up the bag and quickly leaving. Dinky smiled a bit as her mother took off.

"The other way mom!" she called out with a giggle. Ditzy waved and turned, starting her normal route of the day. Dinky returned to the table, smiling over at the Doctor who was rubbing his cheek with a hoof.
"Mom really likes you." she said softly.
"Well I like her too."
"Really?!" she asked excitedly.

"Well of course, she's a dear friend." he said, adjusting his tie, not an easy task with hooves.
"Oh...so, she's just a friend?" Dinky asked sadly. The Doctor quickly realized the situation he had stuck himself into. Alone in a room with the daughter of a mare he had allowed himself to become too friendly around.

He had always told himself never to become romantically involved, it wouldn't end well. And now here he was, breaking that rule and facing the consequences.
"Well, I'm not sure what you'd call us. She's saved my skin more times than I can count." he smiled for a moment.

"And I'd be lost without her." he looked down at his hoof and sighed.
After all, she's the one who found me and helped me when I crashed here...
"She's important to me." he smiled over at the unicorn, ruffling her mane.
"And you are too. Now, don't you have to get to school?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. She nodded quickly, leaving a quick peck on his other cheek and rushing out the door with her saddlebags. The Doctor sighed, letting his head fall into the table.

Now you've done it Doctor... he berated himself. With another sigh he stood and made his way to the backyard where the TARDIS waited for him. He had promised Ditzy he would never leave without her, but there were things that needed to be done. He glanced back at the building he had come to know as home and pushed his way into the TARDIS, bumping directly into Ditzy. She wore a stern look, but her eyes held concern.
"Ditzy...let me explain..."
"Doctor, if you wanted to go somewhere you shoulda said so..." Ditzy interupted him, pulling him into a hug.

"Ditzy, its dangerous. I don't know when we'll come back. It may be a few minutes for your friends, but it could be weeks, months, even years for us. You're a pegasus Ditzy. You'll always have a young outlook and even though you are still young, what if I bring you back home and your an old mare? What would Dinky do?" he asked softly, almost as if he was begging. The mare smiled and shook her head.

"She'll come with us." she said simply, the unicorn poking her head out from under her mother.
"School was out today." she said with a smile. The Doctor rolled his eyes.
of course...they knew I'd come to the TARDIS...Have I really become so predictable?
"Its still the same problem Ditzy. You've seen out there...its no place for a filly."
"But she's not just a filly, she's my filly." Ditzy stepped forward, her eyes focusing on the Doctor.

"And I won't leave her behind." her eyes fell out of focus as the filly nuzzled into her leg. The Doctor sighed in defeat and nodded.
"Alright Ditzy, but I don't know how we'll explain why she's older than the other fillies and colts when we get back." he smiled for a moment, flicking a lever with his hoof. They shared a smile as the TARDIS whirred into life. Ditzy sat down near the console with Dinky beside her, the little filly yawning quietly.

"Dinky, are you tired?" Ditzy asked softly. The filly shook her head.
"N..NO!" she said quickly. Ditzy gave her a flat look and the filly sighed.
"Oh..ok..I stayed up all night watching the TARDIS..." she mumbled, looking down. Ditzy smiled and nuzzled the filly.

"You didn't have to do that silly, get some sleep. I'll wake you up when the Doctor finds out where we're going." She said quietly, the Doctor watching them as he tinkered with a few things. He knew where he was going, but he couldn't bring them with him. He was trying to find somewhere he could take them, his ears perked up as Ditzy began to sing.

He had never heard her sing. He had only heard such beauty twice before in his entire life, once as a child and again on a long forgotten planet. He smiled to himself, realizing where he could take them and flicked a few more switches, humming along as Ditzy sang.
"I'll wrap you in Rainbows, and rock you to sleep again." the pegasus smiled as the filly curled up against her, sound asleep.

"That was beautiful.." The Doctor said softly. Ditzy blushed and smiled.
"Its just an old lullaby..." she said, wrapping a wing around the sleeping form of Dinky.
"And I'm just an old crazy stallion with a box." he replied with a wink.
"So, where were you running off to in a hurry?" she asked. The Doctor cleared his throat and walked over to the TARDIS exit.

"Well, I received a Distress Signal a few days ago, someone desperate for help from anyone." He pressed a button, a scattered image appearing in front of them. Ditzy watched as figures in the background screamed and fell to explosions and gunfire.

"PLEASE! SOMEONE! ANYONE! If you can see this broadcast, we need Help! AHHH!" the transmission stopped as something slammed into the figure speaking, leaving nothing but static.
"T..Thats horrible!" she gasped, looking at him with wide eyes.
"Its a war zone down there."

"and you were going to go alone..." Ditzy hung her head.
"Now you understand why I couldn't bring you along.." he began, blinking as Ditzy stood, glaring at him.
"How could you even think of leaving us behind?! What if something happened to you?" she demanded.

"D..Ditzy! I was thinking of you and Dinky! I can't bring her or you into this. Thats why..." he pushed the door open, revealing a dimly lit streetway, figures walking back and forth, wearing beautiful dresses that sparkled in the moonlight.

"I brought you here instead. The final performance of Lady Deborah Jenai Sento the Fifth. The only other woman with a voice as beautiful as yours." He straightened his tie and smiled, holding out his hoof.

"Shall we?" he asked softly. Ditzy bit her lip, placing her hoof in his.
"Doctor...those people need your help..." she said softly. She pulled the door closed and walked back over to Dinky, slipping under the filly and letting her rest on her back.

"I'll put Dinky to bed." she said, walking away from the TARDIS console and leaving him standing there. He shook his head and moved back over to the TARDIS controls, hesitating for a moment before lifting his hoof, pulling a lever while spinning a wheel with his other hoof. Ditzy walked back into the room and sat beside him, watching the door.

"Doctor...when me and Dinky decided to come with you, we knew the risks. I've told her all about our time together and she can't keep staying with Twilight every time we go somewhere. I know its dangerous and she's a smart filly..smarter than me...she knows its dangerous too, but we both agreed we couldn't let you just go alone anymore. The one time we did and you did come back...you seemed so different...so sad..." the pegasus lowered her head.

"We care about you, i..I know its not something that can happen...I know you'll still be here, protecting ponies and people long after I'm gone. But I want to be here and help you for as long as I can...so please..." she turned to look at him, her eyes wide as he pulled her close and kissed her. The pegasus felt herself melt in his hooves, her wings flaring open with a loud POMF and her eyes falling closed. Around the corner, Dinky smiled before heading back to bed, happy her mother had finally found her special somepony.
