Prompt #268: I Don't Deserve... Friends [SAD, SLICE-OF-LIFE] [Trixie, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Rarity]

View Online

Trixie kicked the ground and let out a huff. She finally had it: a place to call home. A place where she could be happy, where she could eat well, sleep well, bathe well, and where she took no grief from anypony. She had everything she wanted… but at what cost?

Take over Equestria? What the hay was I thinking?! I just wanted to show up Twilight Sparkle. Maybe if I did that, ponies would stop laughing at me… I’d be able to go back to my shows…’ Trixie sighed, and looked at her reflection in the water. ‘What a mess I am. I can’t believe I let that amulet’s power seduce me like that. I’m such a-

“You’re still here?” Trixie jumped and turned her head to look behind herself. She recognised the voice well. It was probably the second-to-last voice she wanted to hear right now, because she knew that this pony was like her: easy to aggravate, and aggressive when upset. “I thought you would’ve cleared outta town by now.”

“… I would, except I have no idea where to go from here.” Trixie turned her attention back to the river beside her, and rested her head on her forehooves. “Every town I go to, ponies turn me away. I could try bigger cities, like Canterlot or Manehatten, but without any money, I would only die after aimlessly wandering around for hours. And besides, I don’t feel like really doing anything right now, Rainbow Dash.”

The rainbow-maned Pegasus walked closer to Trixie. This was it, the former showmare thought. This was the beating that was coming to her. And she deserved it. For holding Ponyville in an iron grip. For turning the small, quiet village upside-down, and covering it in darkness, whilst enslaving its citizens.

“Yeah, that’s gotta suck,” Rainbow Dash said, sitting down on her haunches next to the down mare. “Hey, have you been crying?”

Trixie turned her head away. “Why would I? What right do I have to feel sad, after what I did?”

“Well, it just sort of looks like-”

“Will you just get it over with already?!”

Rainbow Dash looked confused. “Get what over with?”

“Just… kick me or something! Dump me in the water, or rip my mane out, or do whatever it is you came here to do! After all, I banished your best friend from Ponyville, and I enslaved your whole town! So just-”

Rainbow Dash got up and moved herself in front of Trixie, and glared down at her. “Now hold on one second there!” a voice from behind said. She recognised this one, too. “Ah don’ know what’s goin’ through that there head of yours, but that’s not how we do things ‘round these parts!”

“We may be angry, but we are certainly not going to conduct in such barbaric actions as those.” Trixie turned around to face the two new ponies: Applejack and Rarity. “And besides, we are not here for revenge.”

“Why not? I deserve it, after what I did.”

“That wasn’t your fault!” Rainbow Dash shouted. “Look, we know about what the Alicorn Amulet does to ponies! How it makes ‘em go crazy.”

Applejack nodded. “Ah can’t say ah like ya very much, given our previous encounters an’ all, but gosh darn it, a pony in need is still a pony in need, regardless of who it is!”

Trixie scoffed. “Idiots,” she said coldly. “I put that amulet on. All of what happened was a result of my own bitterness! My own desire to get even with you all! It’s all my fault that all of that happened, and you know what?! Part of me wishes that I never removed that amulet!”

Rarity took a few steps closer to the hyperventilating pony. “And why is that, dear?”

“… Because I was happy like that, that’s why.” Trixie turned her head away. “I got happy off of your suffering. Maybe… Maybe I deserve to live like this…”

Applejack shook her head. “If that’s how ya think, then fine. But we ain’t havin’ any of it in our town.” She knelt down beside Trixie, and laid a gentle hoof on her shoulder. “Trixie. We forgive you.”

Trixie’s ears twitched, but she didn’t meet the farm pony’s eyes. “…”

“An’, we all felt mighty sorry for ya, after recalling how… how badly yer life’s been since that day one year ago. So, we decided ta do a lil’ somethin’ for ya.”

Rainbow Dash grabbed Trixie’s head, and moved it to force her to look at something. Trixie’s eyes widened at what she saw: a flowing purple cape, with a star pattern running down it, and a matching pointed hat, both of which were resting on a small wagon behind Rarity.

“Rarity fixed up a new hat and cape for ya,” Rainbow Dash said. “The wagon’s an old one that me and Pinkie used to use. We don’t really need it anymore…”

Applejack wiped away the tear that was falling down Trixie’s face. “Fluttershy an’ ah baked ya some treats, for the road. They’re underneath the cape. Also, ah sent a letter ta mah cousin down in Appleoosa. Gave him a good word for ya, so that ya can perform there without any trouble. If y’all are bent on perfomin’ again, ah reckon that’d be a good place ta start.”

Trixie couldn’t believe what she was hearing, or seeing. It made absolutely no sense to her. “Why?” she asked. “How can you forgive me? You should be hating me! You should be chasing me out of town with absolutely nothing, not sending me off with smiling faces and baked treats under new garments!”

Rainbow Dash sighed and slammed a hoof against her face. “You really don’t get it?”

Rarity grabbed Trixie forehoof gently. “It’s because we forgive you, Trixie, that we’re not going to ‘chase you out of town’. And, it’s because you’re sad, and alone, that we’d like to ask you to be our friend.”

Trixie’s eyes widened, and she quickly pulled her hoof away. “… T-Thanks, for the offer…” Trixie shook her head. “But I can’t. Not after what I’ve done. I don’t… I don’t deserve friends like you.”

“C’mon now, that’s just crazy talk,” Applejack said, and tried to approach Trixie, but the blue mare just backed away.

“I-I’ll accept these generous gifts… since it would be a shame to waste all the effort you went through… But, I really, really can’t accept your friendship. Somepony like me, should just live their lives alone.” Trixie sighed, and lowered her head. “I think that that would be best for everypony…”

The three friends shared disheartened looks, and we’re about to speak up again, but Trixie was already walking away from them. “Trixie-” Rainbow Dash tried, but was cut off by her.

“I’m… going to find Twilight. I need to tell her I’m sorry, and then I’ll be out your lives, forever.”

As Trixie continued to walk away, Applejack decided to speak out. “Ya don’ have ta do that, y’know? Even if ya don’ wanna be our friend now, if ya ever change yer mind, just remember that the offer is always open to ya.”

Trixie smiled, and forced back the tears building up in her eyes. ‘Idiots… I’ve done nothing to warrant anypony’s forgiveness, and I really don’t deserve such kindness…’ Not sure how else to react, Trixie resorted to her default: throwing a smoke bomb on the floor, and running away, making sure that nopony could follow her.

Prompt #484: Shining Armor Joins The Black Organization [CROSSOVER] [Shining Armor, Luna]

View Online

Author’s note: The ‘Organization’ depicted here is the ‘Black Organization’ from the Manga series Detective Conan. Detective Conan, the ‘Black Organization’, and its members are all property of Gosho Aoyama.

The night was cold, and the midnight hour was drawing near. Shining Armor could see his own breath hanging in the air and tightened the scarf around his neck, his eyes never moving away from the prize before him. The final light inside of the Canterlot Museum of Natural History turned off, signalling Shining Armor to make his move.

“My mission is to infiltrate the museum and shut off the security systems,” Shining reminded himself as he approached the back entrance to the museum. He took out his mask and put it on, and then opened the panel to the side of the door and played around with the wiring inside. It didn’t take long for the door beside him to open. As it did, the security guard inside rose to his hooves to apprehend him, but Shining Armor merely used his magic to steal the guard’s baton away and knock him unconscious.

Using his horn to light the way, Shining Armor navigated the museum using the map he had memorised in his head and made sure to take cover whenever patrolling security ponies drew near. After avoiding many cameras and laser tripwires, Shining Armor eventually found his way into the security office.

“Hey, who are you?!” one of the guards asked as he charged towards the suspicious individual.

Shining Armor threw grenade into the room that erupted into a cloud of pink smoke. After choking on the smoke for some time, the effects of the sleeping gas kicked in and forced the two standing guard within the room to take a long, peaceful nap.

Shining Armor approached the console and punched a few buttons, his mask protecting him from the effects of the smoke. “Alright, all security systems are down. Now to just clear out of here.” Shining Armor turned to leave, but quickly remembered something important. He turned back and picked up the spent grenade with his magic. “Leave nothing behind. That’s the way the Organization works.”

Getting out proved to be much easier than getting in. Of course, that was thanks to the security systems having been deactivated. The same couldn’t exactly be said for the Organization he was now a part of.

As Shining Armor approached the aforementioned meeting place after the mission was over, he found that nopony was there and took a look around. He felt something press against the back of his head and rose his forehooves into the air. “Why? I cleared my task and recovered all evidence that could trace back to me,” Shining said without turning around.

“I know. I received word that the heist was a success.” That cold voice behind him. The cruel, merciless tone that could send chills even down Discord’s spine. It could only belong to one pony. “But you’re still not accepted into the Organization yet. We take every precaution with newcomers such as yourself, Ancile,” Gin said as he motioned for somepony to the side to move in.

“Excuse me,” a black-suited stallion asked as he approached Shining Armor from the side, running a long metal device over him from all angles. The device beeped, and the stallion removed something from Shining’s neck.

“One of our own,” Gin told the stallion, who nodded and continued his scanning of Shining Armor’s body.

“You’ve been bugging me?” Shining asked, though he already knew that they had. They do with all their new members.

“Of course. To make sure you don’t betray us.”

“He’s clean,” the stallion said.

Gin pulled his gun away and allowed Shining Armor to turn around. “Well, it seems you’ve managed to win that pony’s favour. Personally, I still think you carry a foul odour about you. But for now, I guess I have no choice.” Gin put the gun away into his black trenchcoat and grinned. “Welcome to the Organization, Scotch.”

Shining Armour saluted as Princess Luna approached him. “Ma’am.”

“At ease,” Luna commanded. “I imagine you do not have much time.”

“That is correct,” Shining said. “The Organization have stopped tracking all of my movements for now, but they are still suspicious of me. Therefore, I will have to be brief.”

“You have succeeded in your mission to infiltrate?” Luna asked, receiving a nod from Shining Armor. “Very good. From this point on, it may be too risky for you to report to me directly. Therefore, I will have you deliver weekly updates to a different member of the Guard in disguise. Of course, they will all be highly trusted members.”

“If they’re in disguise, how will I identify them?”

“You will know,” Luna said. “Or at least, I have faith that you will be able to pick them out. If not, then you are aware of the consequences that you will face should the Organization discover that you are a spy.”

Shining Armor nodded. “Yes, ma’am.”

“… Was there something else that you wished to discuss?” Luna asked.

“… It’s about Twilie. I would appreciate it if-”

“You needn’t worry,” Luna told him. “Information about the Organization is on a need-to-know basis. Only myself, your wife, and a few trusted individuals within the guard know of your position.”

“I see.” Shining Armor saluted one final time. “Then, I guess this is goodbye, for now.”

“Just one last thing,” Luna said. “If there ever comes a time that you are ordered to kill a pony, make sure you find a way to reach us at once. Even if it is to capture them, we must not stoop to such a low.”

“I’ll make sure it never has to come to that. As far as stopping them from killing-”

“Do nothing else that might blow your cover.” Shining Armor nodded in understanding. “Dismissed.”

And so began Shining Armor – or ‘Ancile’s’ – new life with the so-called ‘Black Organization’. A group that committed crimes all over Equestria, from robbery, to loan-sharking, to assassination. The Royal Guard had been after them for so long, but this group was one that lived in the shadows. They leave not a single trace of their existence behind at their crime scenes, and they make sure that there any witnesses who may have seen them, even slightly, do not have the chance to testify.

“Scotch,” Vodka said as he approached Shining Armor from behind. Shining turned around to see the bulky stallion grinning his way. “New job, from that pony. We got a certain Princess we want you to spy on.”

Shining’s eyes widened, and he had to hold back his emotions as the photograph was placed into his left forehoof. “This is…”

“The new Princess, Twilight Sparkle,” Vodka said. “That pony wants you to watch her for a bit, and let us know if she can be considered a threat.”

Shining Armor thanked his lucky stars that he had thought to dye his coat a darker shade, dye his hair black, and hide his Cutie Mark with that of a short, circular shield with a dragon emblem. If they were planning on watching his sister, then chances are they would also look into her family members, too.

“Well?” Vodka asked.

“… Alright then,” Shining said. “Who’ll be accompanying me?”

“Not saying,” Vodka told him. “Because they’ll be watching you, too.”

Shining Armour gritted his teeth together. ‘This is going to be a hell of a task. But there’s no going back now… and this way, I have a chance to protect Twilie, too.’ “Understood. When do I leave?”

Prompt #497: Flash's Journey [TROLL, DARK-COMEDY?] [Flash Sentry]

Flash Sentry panted as he looked down the staircase before him. "Just 500 more to go." He tripped on the next step and fell down the stairs. He landed at the bottom on his head, snapping his neck.

Prompt #527: Agent Tiara's First, and Last, Kill [SAD, FUTURE] [Diamond Tiara, Shining Armor]

View Online

“Time is fifteen hundred hours. Target is leaving the coffee shop with a briefcase he was not carrying when he walked in.”

“Keep on his tail, but don’t intercept just yet, Agent Tiara,” the voice over the transmitter spoke. “I repeat, do not intercept just yet.”

“I get it,” Diamond Tiara said through gritted teeth. “You don’t have to remind me, sir. He’s going down 5th Street. I’m going after him.” Diamond hung up the transmitter and walked out of the alleyway she was hiding behind, following the stallion down the street whilst keeping a good distance away from him at all times.

The stallion turned down another alleyway, stopping at its entrance and looking around. Diamond quickly stopped herself at a nearby fruit stand and browsed its goods, slipping a small rectangular mirror from her scarf to observe the stallion without looking in his direction. As soon as he started to move again, she put the mirror back and continued to pursue him.

Diamond Tiara stopped at the entrance to the alleyway to glance inside. It was filled with homeless ponies that were staring right back at her, their eyes focussed and many of them fiddling with bit coins in their hooves.

“He paid them to keep stalkers out, huh?” Diamond turned around and backtracked down the street a few steps. “… Guess I’ve got no choice,” she said with a sigh as she reached into her saddlebag and pulled out a small sack. She opened the sack, revealing a collection of jewels that reflected the sun’s light intensely, and turned back to the alleyway. Swiftly, she threw the bag of jewels inside, and waited for the clambering of hooves racing towards the bait.

Reaching into her bag again, Diamond Tiara pulled out a small revolver and a badge. With a sigh, she threw the badge into the nearby trashcan, before charging headfirst into the alley.

The ponies were all too busy fighting over the jewels and bits scattered around to pay any notice to the mare rushing past them. She stepped over the ponies and made her way to the exit on the other side, leading her towards an unused warehousing zone that was burnt down a long time ago in a sudden, unexplained fire. Well, unexplained to the public, at least.

Diamond Tiara’s presence was noticed by the two suited ponies standing at the doorway, who pulled out their knives and targeted her. However, the first one was too slow to avoid Diamond’s spinning kick, and the second was only able to dodge one swift strike before receiving a harsh blow to the gut.

And both ponies lay unconscious on the floor, Diamond Tiara invited herself into the warehouse.

“Who’s there?!” the stallion inside shouted as he and the other two stallions either side of him turned to face the entrance. “Y-You’re with the Royal Guard?!”

“That’s right,” Diamond Tiara said as she walked inside. “Or at least, I was. Until just a few minutes ago, I was Agent Diamond Tiara, of Head Captain Shining Armor’s Special Division.” Diamond stopped as all three stallions aimed their guns at her, and she did the same to the stallion in the middle. “You remember my father, Filthy Rich, right?”

The stallion gasped. “R-Rich’s kid? No, impossible. You burned to death in that fire, I confirmed it for myself.”

“That’s right,” Diamond said. “The fire that burned this warehouse down while I was investigating my father’s death… There was indeed a causality. However, that was not me.”

“Don’t give me that! I confirmed the hoofprints, those can’t be forged!”

“… Listen,” Diamond said as she raised her rear left hoof and tapped it to the ground, creating a metallic sound. “A prosthetic hoof. The hoof you found attached to a charred body was my real one.” The stallion looked shocked at the news. “It was all done by the head captain, in order to fake my death and get you off of my tail. Because he knew that as long as I continued to investigate you, I would be a target.

“Now, though… I finally have you in my sights.” Diamond’s hoof shook as she narrowed her eyes. “Ten years ago, my father suddenly committed suicide after his business plummeted. I always found it strange. Not only was my father an excellent business leader, but he was also a strong pony! He would never take his own life like that!

“But then, after I started my investigation, I found something that shocked and scared me. My father… he was leading a double-life as a spy within the Royal Guard. A spy… working for you. Isn’t that right?”

“… Yes. That is correct,” the stallion said. “And a fine member of our group he was.”

“No!” Diamond shouted, tears flowing from her eyes. “You forced him into joining you! The entire time, you were holding me hostage without me knowing, so he had no choice but to comply! But when he was found out by a rival business leader, he was forced to shut down his business in order to keep his secret! He felt cornered… He felt that he had nowhere to go, and that there was only one way to escape without endangering me.”

“Diamond!” Diamond Tiara didn’t turn around, but she recognised Shining Armor’s voice behind her. “I told you not to intercept the target! Lower your weapon!”

“My father was killed because of me, and because of you,” Diamond continued, ignoring Shining’s order. “Now, I’ll make it up to him. I’ll avenge him by killing half of the parties responsible for his death, and I will serve my time to atone for my own part played in his demise.”

“I said drop it!” Shining Armor shouted as he ran to Diamond Tiara, but it was too late. A loud bang sounded throughout the warehouse, and all eyes turned to the middle stallion at the other end as he fell to the floor, blood pouring from a wound in his chest.

“O-Open fire!” one of the other stallions shouted, firing his gun at Diamond Tiara.

Shining Armor’s horn shone, and a shield deflected the bullet. “Damnit! Lay down your weapons and surrender!”

The stallions fired a few more shots, but none of them pierced the magical shield. A troop of guards entered the warehouse, and the two stallions stopped, dropping their guns and raising their hooves in defeat.

Shining Armor released his magic, and whilst his subordinates dealt with the arrest of the two stallions, and taking away the body of the third, he turned towards Diamond Tiara, who had dropped her gun to the ground and simply stared down at it with a vacant look on her face. “… Agent Tiara,” he said as he approached her.

“… I did it,” Diamond whispered, looking back up at Shining Armor. “I finally did it…”

Shining Armor shook his head sadly and used his magic to levitate a pair of hoofcuffs into the air. “Agent Tiara, I… I’m afraid that I must place you under arrest…”

Diamond Tiara did not resist. She simply nodded and allowed the hoofcuffs to bind her hooves, smiling as she heard the click. “Daddy…” A teardrop fell onto the metal cuffs. “You’re avenged. You can rest in peace now… Daddy…”
