By Jawmax Chap.1: A different perspective. It was very special time in Equestria; Princess Luna’ birthday was just one week away. However for the past few days the princesses have been having frequent arguments. “But Celestia I just don’t feel like having a birthday party this year.” “Now Luna this is another chance for our subjects to get to know the Luna I know. Since that Nightmare Night you went to Ponyville they come to understand why you became what you became.” “No, No, No!” Tears were falling from Luna’s eyes. “No one could ever understand what it was like for me! Feeling unloved by the whole world! Being filled with so much rage and bitterness that you become a prisoner in your own body! To be alone for a thousand years! A thousand years sister! To know you are going to have this feeling of guilt for all eternity! No one will ever understand that especially you!” “What?” Celestia had an annoyed growl in her voice. “Come on Celestia, you are the most beloved pony in all Equestria! There is no one for you to be jealous of.” “I may not have ever been jealous like you were but do not think for an instant that the whole ordeal wasn’t painful for me!” Celestia yelled. “For one thousand years I had to hold back my pain and wear a happy mask for the sake of our subjects! Every night I looked up at the moon and cried myself to sleep! For centuries I kept hearing the one I love the most referred to as a monster and every time it felt like a knife was plunged into my chest because I know that I could have prevented it if only I had paid attention and saw your loneliness!” “It’s not about me or you being sad! This about me and how angry I was, angrier than anypony has ever felt and knowing that forever there will always doubt about me! You, you just can’t see things from my perspective on this! No one can!” Luna ran out of the room the last words she spoke hanging in the air. *** After that Celestia spent most of her time in the castle library for the rest of the week. After finding what she was looking for she entered Luna’s room. “Luna, I have been thinking about what you said and I think I may have found a way to see things from your perspective.” “How?” Luna skeptically asked. “About six hundred years ago there was a unicorn named Gazer. He made a spell that allows the caster to see what his or her life would be like if there were different circumstances by being a shade to another version of you in another reality. And not just see but feel the very same feelings as your other self is feeling. I am going to use this spell to feel exactly as you have felt all that time.” “And you think there is a reality where you became Nightmare Moon instead?” “I found something that’s pretty close. We will both go through what the other went through.” “That’s over a thousand years; Sister that’s too long for us to be in some kind of trance!” “Worry not Luna, years in the vision pass in minutes in the real world, so a thousand years would pass in a few short hours. Let us do this together little sister as my gift to you so that we can understand each other’s feelings.” “Thank you Celestia, I’m not sure if this will really change anything but it really means a lot to me that you are willing to go through what I did. So how do we begin?” *** Meanwhile Princess Twilight Sparkle and her friends had come to Canterlot with a gift for Princess Luna from all of Ponyville; a small scale replica of a statue being built in the small town depicting her return to Equestria. “I hope this will cheer the Princesses up. Some of the staff said that they haven’t been getting along lately; some of them are worried the whole Nightmare Moon story might repeat itself.” Twilight said. Pinkie Pie smiled. “Don’t worry Twilight nothing fixes fights better than a party!” They opened the door to find both princesses in a circle of light, their eyes completely dilated. “Princess!” the six friends yelled. “We got to get them out of that thing!” Twilight yelled. They all ran to help their rulers but as soon as they touched the circle there was a bright flash of light. The next thing Twilight Sparkle knew she was looking at a very familiar book. *** Once upon a time in the magical land of Equestria there were two regal sisters who ruled together and brought harmony to all the land. To do this the eldest used her unicorn powers to raise the Moon at dusk, the younger brought out the sun to begin the day. Thus they brought balance to their kingdom and their subjects all with different types of ponies. But as time went on younger sister grew resentful. The ponies relished and played in the in night her sister brought forth but shunned and slept through her beautiful day. One fateful day the younger unicorn refused to lower the sun and make way for dusk. The elder sister tried to reason with her but the bitterness of the young one’s heart transformed her into a wicked mare of fire, Daymare Sun. She vowed to light the land in eternal day. Reluctantly the elder sister harnessed the most powerful magic know to Ponydom; the Elements of Harmony! Using the magic of the Elements of Harmony she defeated her younger sister and banished her permanently to the Sun. The elder sister took on responsibility for both Moon and Sun and Harmony has been maintained in Equestria for generations ever since. “But that’s not how the story went at all!” Twilight said. Then she heard another voice. “Elements of Harmony? Wait wasn’t that what I was supposed to read up on this week?” Twilight realized that it was her voice she heard and she was floating just above a Unicorn that looked exactly like how she used to. Twilight’s own body was transparent. “What? What’s going on here? Hey you! Uh, me! Tell me what’s happening here!” but the other Twilight didn’t respond, but she did hear a familiar voice. “There you are Twilight! Sundancer is having a little get together in the west castle courtyard; want to come?” a white unicorn with a pink mane and three blue stars for a cutie mark asked. “Oh, sorry girls I’ve been looking at the stars and reading stories all night so I got a lot of studying to catch up on.” “Up here! Please! I know I should have tried harder before with you guys but I need your help!” Twilight waved her forelegs wildly but they didn’t notice the floating winged double of the pony they were talking to. She could move slightly like this but not by much. The solid Twilight stood up and bolted while the other Twilight seemed to be connected to her double by some kind of invisible tether and pulled along. Both Twilights barely heard the other pony say. “Does that pony do anything but goof off? I think she cares more about doing what she wants than friends or her studies.” “Slow down me, uh you!” Then Twilight saw that is was going to hit a low branch. “Whoa stop!” But she passed right through it like she was made of air. “What? But that doesn’t make any sense! Nopony can see me, hear me, or touch me. Wait a minute…” Twilight looked up at the sky. “It’s night but if things are going like that day then shouldn’t it be day? I don’t understand. I think I’m getting a headache.” By that point the other Twilight brought her to her old tower room. “Spike! Spike!” Twilight saw her dragon friend once again knocked to the floor with his tail stuck through a present. “Oh sorry Spike do you have…?” “Predictions and Proficiencies? It's over there.” Spike pointed to a table. “You know you wouldn’t have to work through the break if you didn’t goof off and read stories or sneak off to plays by yourself all the time. I mean look at this, it was a gift for Sundancer. You could be having fun right now if you didn’t put everything off until the last minute.” The solid Twilight sighed. “Spike we’ve been over this. I have so much talent that I don’t need to study hard and I don’t want to get roped into doing things that other ponies want to do because it probably won’t be any fun.” “What? That can’t be me! I’m not some lazy procrastinating slacker! But why do I feel so annoyed with Spike and bored too? This has to be some kind defense mechanism of the spell the princesses were under!” The ghostly Twilight yelled. “Elements, elements. E, e, e. Ah, here! See the Shadow in the Sun?” The counterpart said looking through the book. “Shadow in the Sun? If things are happening like they did last time then… no it couldn’t be.” “The Shadow in the Sun but that’s just an old pony’s tale; figures you try to find another story.” Spike said. Twilight turned the pages to an entry with a picture of the sun with the shadow of a unicorn mare over the surface. “Shadow, shadow. Ah ha! Shadow in the Sun. Myth from olden pony times. A powerful pony who wanted to rule Equestria. Defeated by the Elements of Harmony and imprisoned in the sun. Legend has it that on the longest night of the thousandth year the planets will aid in her escape and bring daytime eternal! Spike do you know what this means?” (1) “Twilight please! If keep distracting me, I’ll...” and then Spike fell. “Don’t worry Spike I got…” Spike fell through one Twilight only to land on the other. “…You.” “Spike, take a letter please, to the Princess.” The second Twilight said as Spike climbed down. “Oakie dokie.” Spike took out a quill and paper. “This is may be just what I need if can just use a spell and write them a note maybe I can get out of this mess. Twilight concentrated, her horn flashed a few times and then went out. “Oh give me a break!” The other Twilight continued. “My dearest teacher, my current studies of pony magic have lead me to discover that, that, um Spike what a good way to say something really bad is about to happen?” “I don’t believe this! Doesn’t she know anything?” Grunted Twilight. Spike wrote as he talked. “On the precipice of disaster.” Twilight continued from where she left off “for you see the mythical Shadow in the Sun is in fact Daymare Sun and she is about to return to Equestria!” For an instant both versions of Twilight could see a mare wrapped in flames in the refection of an hour glass. “And bring with her eternal day. Something must be done to make sure that this terrible prophecy does not come true! I await you quick response. Your faithful student Twilight Glimmer.” “Wait. Twilight Glimmer? Well at least that helps me think of her as a different pony.” Twilight Sparkle gave a sigh of relief. “Got it.” Spike said finishing his writing. “Great, send it.” Glimmer ordered. Spike gave a slightly condescending look. “Are you sure? Princess Luna is a little busy getting ready for the Winter Moon Celebration and it’s the night after tomorrow. It’s a little much to drop what she’s doing just because you got a little scared by an old story.” “Princess Luna? Twilight Glimmer is the student of Princess Luna? But that would mean…No! It’s impossible! Princess Celestia could never be evil!” Twilight Sparkle screamed. Twilight Glimmer spoke. “It’s more than just the story Spike! The night after tomorrow is the thousandth year of the Winter Moon Celebration! The Princess must be told right away!” “Alright, alright!” Spike burned the letter with his magic flame breath. This letter looked different from the ones that Twilight Sparkle sent; it had a silver seal with a capital L on it. “There, it’s on its way. But I don’t think she's going to believe you.” “Oh she will. I may not be that most prompt of students but in all her years as my mentor she’s never doubted me and trusts me completely.” Sparkle shook her head. “Either Luna has poor taste in students or she may not trust you as much you think. Now if you were more dedicated to your studies like I am then maybe you’d be right.” Spike belched out a response. Glimmer smiled. “See I knew she’d want to get on this right away!” “If things keep going like how remember them then not in way you think slacker.” Sparkle said. Spike cleared his throat and read the letter out loud. “My dearest and most faithful student Twilight. You know that I value your spirit and I trust you completely…” Twilight Glimmer looked proud of herself. “Here it comes.” Twilight Sparkle said. Spike finished the sentence. “But you must do more than read stories all the time.” Glimmer got a very familiar look on her face. *** It was the next night. One theory of Twilight’s was confirmed; wherever she was the ponies here were nocturnal. The carriage she, Twilight Glimmer, and Spike were in was silver and was being pulled by two bat winged pegasi in silver armor. Spike was reading the letter again. “My dearest Twilight there is more to a young pony’s life than having fun. So I am giving you the responsibility of supervising the preparations of the Winter Moon Celebration at this year’s location Ponyville.” Twilight Sparkle’s heart warmed at the sight of the town that became her home. Her counterpart however was just displeased as Twilight been when she first came which to Twilight was understandable given that she lived this before. “And I have an even more essential task for you to complete, make some friends.” Twilight Glimmer groaned. “Trust me it’s not as bad you think.” Twilight Sparkle said. “I hate this. I’m essentially seeing everything happen again but this time I know better but I still feel the frustration and egotism I did last time because she is feeling it.” “Cheer up Twilight, the Princess arranged for you stay in the Library, with lots of stories you never read before. Doesn’t that make you happy?” Spike asked. Twilight Glimmer perked up. “Spike for once I think I want to study something. So I’ll check on the preparations as fast as I can and then get back to the Library to find proof of Daymare Sun’s return.” “While I’m glad you want take your studies more seriously I got to wonder when are going to make time to make some friends like the Princess asked?” “She said to check on preparations. I am her student and I will do my royal duty, but the fate of Equestria does not rest on me making friends.” Sparkle sighed. “Twilight Glimmer you don’t know how wrong you are.” While Twilight Glimmer thanked the pegasi Twilight Sparkle saw a very familiar pink pony walk up and this pony also had a ghost double floating around her. “Pinkie Pie!” She was so relieved to find she was not alone in this craziness. However as soon as they came close she saw that the Pinkie Pie she knew was fast asleep. “Come on Twilight just try.” Suggested Spike. “Um, hello.” Twilight Glimmer said to the other Pinkie Pie. “Pinkie, wake up!” Twilight Sparkle shook her friend; at the very least she and her friends could touch each other. “Do you have problems with surprises?” The other Pinkie asked abruptly. “Ugh, Twilight? You’re here!” Pinkie Pie Classic cheered after waking up. “If I did then you would have just found out.” Glimmer said nervously. “Pinkie have you seen any of the others?” Sparkle asked. New Pinkie jotted the response on a small card she had on the flat of the hoof with a pencil in her mouth and immediately asked another question. “Are you currently on a low sugar diet?” “No. Twilight you got to help me!” Pinkie begged. “No.” Glimmer said. Twilight Sparkle was very worried if Pinkie Pie was afraid. “What’s wrong?” “Do you frequently suffer from repetitive motion injuries?” The other Pinkie wrote a little more on the card. “You’ve got to get me away from her!” Pinkie pointed to her duplicate. “Not really.” Twilight Glimmer stepped back but the new pony inched closer. “Pinkie I don’t know how. I’m stuck to this Twilight Glimmer too.” Twilight tried to explain. “Lastly do you have any allergies to certain foods or latex?” The solid Pinkie waited with pencil at the ready. “But you got to do something! She’s soooo boring!” Pinkie cried. “Not that I know of.” Glimmer said very uncomfortably. “Thank for your time.” And with that the other Pinkie turned around and ran. “Nooo! Twilight help me!” Pinkie screamed. “Well that was interesting alright.” Twilight Glimmer said. Spike just groaned. *** Later on the road Spike held a familiar checklist. “Winter Moon Celebration official overseer’s checklist, number one, banquet perpetrations, the Sweet Apple Plantation.” Twilight looked to see the familiar farm now had a really big mansion instead of a small farm house. “Wow Applejack must be doing really well.” “Hurry along now darlins! We simply must have those apples baked and ready for tomorrow’s celebration. There’s a big bonus in it for ya’ll if you bring them in before midnight.” It was an orange earth pony with blonde hair done in curls and a straw hat with green ribbons and frills. She was giving orders to farm hands from the porch. Twilight could see Applejack right next to her. “Let’s get this over with.” Twilight Glimmer said as she walked up to the big house. “Good evening, my name is Twilight Glimmer.” “Charmed Miss Twilight, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Apple Jill and everyone here at the Sweet Apple Plantation ever so much enjoys meeting new friends.” The southern bell version of Applejack said giving a curtsy. “Twilight this here frou-frou imposter done turn Sweet Apple Acres upside down! My family’s acting all weird and Ah can’t understand how they can’t tell she’s not me! Ah mean her cutie mark is a pitcher of apple tea for crying out loud!” Applejack pointed an accusatory hoof at Apple Jill. “Friends? Actually I’m here to supervise the preparations for the Winter Moon Celebration and you’re in charge of the food?” Twilight Glimmer explained. “Why yes! Would ya’ll like to come in and sample some?” Apple Jill asked. “Applejack you realize what we’re seeing here right?” Twilight asked. Applejack thought for a moment. “Well Ah be, Twilight this here is a lot like when we first met.” “Well as long as it doesn’t take too long.” Just after Twilight Glimmer said that Apple Jill opened the front door to reveal numerous ponies. “You’re just in time for the Apple family reunion. We have it every hundred moons and this year it’s just before the Winter Moon Celebration.” Apple Jill said. Twilight Glimmer moaned. After being introduced to several members of Apple Jill’s extended family Twilight Glimmer was thrust into a conversation with Jill’s immediate family Big Red, Apple Blossom, and Grandmamma Smith. Twilight was very bored right now. “Then our accountant told me that if we donated all those apples we’d lose half our profits. But with starving zebra children involved well I just turned to her and said ‘frankly my dear. I don’t give a darn’.” Big Red had a big smile under his big mustache. “Well as lovely as this has been I must get back to overseeing the rest of the preparations. Thank you for the food and the stimulating conversation.” Twilight Glimmer said. “Why you’re welcome darlin and don’t you worry I’m sure the preparations will be just fine. Feel free to come on down anytime for some apple tea. Being a good hostess is what I’m all about.” Apple Jill said. “I’m all for being polite but what that pony needs is an honest hard day’s work.” Applejack said. “Looks like I’m going too. Applejack if things go well then I guess I’ll see you at the surprise party at the library.” Twilight Sparkle said. “Here’s hoping Twi.” *** Heading back to Ponyville Spike went over the next item on the list. “Foods all taken care of next is weather.” “Oh, all that talking was so dull.” Complained Twilight Glimmer. “There should be a Pegasus named Rainbow Stroll clearing the clouds.” Spike said. While Twilight Glimmer looked up at the cloudy night Twilight Sparkle heard something. “Look at me! I’m a scary ghost so run away from the bush! Come on, stop hiding and quit being so lame!” It was Rainbow Dash over a shaking bush. “Rainbow over here, it’s me Twilight!” “Which one?” Laughed Rainbow Dash. It was then that Spike noticed the bush. “Hey Twilight, I think someone’s in that bush.” “Please don’t hurt me!” Out popped Rainbow Stroll who had a smoother mane than Dash and her cutie mark was an upside down rainbow under a big white cloud. It was for finding good places to hide. “You must be Rainbow Stroll, don’t worry we won’t hurt you; it’s just as well you know you need to clear the sky for the Winter Moon Celebration?” Twilight Glimmer said. “Oh yes! My heroes the Wonderbolts will be there!” Rainbow Stroll sighed. “They are so fast and brave; I wish I could have courage like them.” “And yet my copy here is, get this, afraid of going fast! Who ever heard of a pony that fast that’s afraid of using that speed? And to make it worse I have to use all my willpower not to feel what she’s feeling!” Dash yelled. “Rainbow listen, we are all in this kind of backward version of the time we defeated Nightmare Moon. We’ll all meet up at the surprise party.” Twilight said. Twilight Glimmer tried to get the weather pony to do her job. “Well then shouldn’t you clear the sky then, so everypony can see them?” “Uh, sure just give me a minute.” Stroll gulped. Dash groaned. “Hopefully this chicken isn’t afraid of parties.” “Are you going to start anytime soon?” Glimmer asked. “Just need ten more seconds of mental preparation.” Stroll squeaked. Twilight Glimmer then got an idea. “You know it would be a shame if sky would be cloudy tomorrow, it be pretty bad if Princess Luna were to get mad at any ponies that didn’t do their jobs.” “Yipe!” In an instant Rainbow Stroll was flying around at high speed and clearing every single cloud to a clear starry sky. “All this speed and she only uses it to run away.” Rainbow Dash sighed. However Stroll’s landing wasn’t very good she crashed into Twilight Glimmer and while both were not hurt Twilight’s saddle bag strap was broken. “Oh I am so sorry! I really hate going that fast, something always breaks.” “It’s no problem Rainbow, no one was hurt and now the sky is ready for tomorrow night.” Glimmer said. “Oh thank you Twilight! You haven’t called me names or got mad or anything! You are a really good friend. Maybe we could hang out sometime!” With that Rainbow Stroll and Dash flew away. *** “See it isn’t so bad making friends is it?” Spike said. “I was just being nice and doing my duty Spike. That pony would be too scared to do anything fun.” Twilight Glimmer used her magic to carry her broken saddle bags. *** Spike read off the next object on the list. “Decorations, beautiful.” Both Twilights looked around the town hall with many silver bells, moons, and dark blue and silver streamers. “Yes, the décor is coming along nicely. I should be at the library in no time, beautiful indeed.” Glimmer said. “Not the decorations, her” a love struck Spike said. “Here we go again.” Sparkle said before letting out a gasp. If it weren’t for Rarity being right next to her counterpart she could swear it was another pony entirely. This other Rarity had her mane in a Mohawk cut and wearing a denim jacket with lots of patches on it which might explain why she had a red, blue, and yellow patch for her Cutie Mark. “I don’t know Spike, she looks like trouble.” Glimmer said. “Yeah, my kind of trouble. How are my spines? Are they straight?” Spike said. The other Rarity then spoke looking at one of the bells. “Darn, the clapper broke off! Now, what can I use to fix it?” (2) Then she pulled out a spoon and some string from a pocket in her jacket, with just a little magic she used the two items to fix the bell. “There now everything is should be just fine. Oh Ragity, you certainly know how to think outside the box.” “Um, hello.” Twilight Glimmer said. “Yes how can I help you? Oh, I see you need that bag fixed ASAP.” Said Ragity. “Twilight! Oh no, not you too! You couldn’t have died too!” Rarity said as Ragity and her turn to find both Twilights. “Rarity it’s okay. We’re not dead.” Twilight Sparkle said. “Then how do you explain how we’re in pony hell! That demon is making a mockery of my life!” Rarity yelled. “This is not pony hell! The others are in similar situations and right now we are repeating the day we first met so we should all meet up the party.” “Don’t you worry; I know exactly where we can get what we need to fix that saddle bag.” Ragity said. Rarity eyes shrank it the size of pin pricks. “No! Anywhere but…” *** …The Merry Go Round Second Hoof Store.” Rarity groaned. “Look at it Twilight! The paint is chipped and faded and instead of selling beautiful and unique fashions she stocks last year’s fashions and ugly useless junk! And don’t get me started on her hair!” Ragity began to rummage through her inventory. “I know I have some more thread around here somewhere. Let’s see, eggbeater, half a box of crayons, napkin holder, a toothbrush, oh I was looking for that, an accordion, ah here we are. Now Twilight Glimmer where did you say you were from?” “I was sent from Canterlot to check on the preparations for the Winter Moon Celebration.” Twilight Glimmer said. “I bet you’re glad to be out of that place.” Ragity said. “I grew up there. Why do you think I wanted to leave?” “Oh sorry it’s just well I visited there only once but that was enough, the elitism of those upper crust ponies, the snobbishness, and they are so obsessed with fads! It’s so wasteful! I opened this store to save these poor discarded treasures!” “What? But that first visit to Canterlot is what first made me want to be a fashion designer! There…there is no way that this could be me!” Rarity said. “Well I was never into that high society stuff myself.” Twilight Glimmer said. “I like you Twilight; oh I know something that you are going to love! I made it out of a tuba, some bed sheets and some parts from an old stove!” Ragity said going into another room. “Spike, we better leave just in case she might accidently blow us up!” Twilight Glimmer said running. *** “Wasn’t she wonderful?” Spike said as they walk down the road. “Focus Casanova, what’s next on the list?” Glimmer said. “Music, it’s the last one.” It was just then that both Twilights heard the unmistakable sound of a bird chorus. They peeked through a bush Twilight Sparkle saw Fluttershy and her counterpart who had a much shorter mane and tail cut and had three eagles for a cutie mark. A first aid saddle bag rested on the ground right next to her. Just like last time a blue jay began to sing off rhythm. “No, no, stop!” the other Fluttershy yelled. “Please don’t yell; you could hurt their feelings.” Fluttershy pleaded but of course it fell on deaf ears. “Are you trying to embarrass us? Don’t you know that the Winter Moon Celebration is tomorrow? Now let try it again from the top.” “Um, hello?” Twilight Glimmer said. A stranger walking toward them was enough for the birds to get scared and fly away. “Oh, Twilight I’m so glad to see you. The other me is acting like I did when I took Iron Will’s seminar. She yells at anypony that gets in her way. It is so hard not be angry with her especially when I feel her anger.” Fluttershy said. “You! Look at what you done!” The short haired Fluttershy said. “I’m sorry; I didn’t mean to frighten your birds! I was sent to check up on your music and it sounded so beautiful. I’m Twilight Glimmer.” Twilight Glimmer said panicked. “Yeah well as you said everything is going fine so can you go now? I tend to get rough on ponies that get in the way of my jobs.” “Okay well your birds are back and everything seem to be in order so I’ll just be on my way.” “Don’t worry Fluttershy this is a repeat of the day we first met so we should both be on our way to my welcome party.” Sparkle said. And just like the first time it was Spike who set the gears in motion. “Well that was anything but easy.” Glimmer said. “Is that a baby dragon?” the native Fluttershy said pushing Twilight out of the way. “I never seen one before and as Ponyville’s top paramedic I need to know all I can about those that may need my help.” The other Fluttershy picked up her bag and began to walk with them. “Okay…” Spike said unsure where this was going. “You can talk huh, good that make getting you medical information much easier.” “Well sorry but we have to get going.” “Hold it I still need some background info in case he gets hurt. What is your name?” “My name is Spike.” Spike said. “I’m Flutterbrave. So is there anything else you can tell me?” “What do you want to know?” “Absolutely everything.” Twilight Glimmer groaned. “Well I started out as a purple and green egg…” Spike began. *** By the time they got to the Library the sun was raising. “…and that is the story of my whole entire life up until tonight. Do you want to hear about tonight? “You never know what a difference twenty four hours could make.” Flutterbrave said. “Well how did we get here so fast? This is where I be staying while in Ponyville and my poor baby dragon needs his sleep.” “No I don’t.” Spike said but Glimmer threw him off. “Oh he’s so Slweepy he can’t even keep his wittle balwence.” “Proper rest is important for a young creature. We must get him to bed.” Flutterbrave said. “Yes, yes, we’ll get right on it. Good day.” Twilight Glimmer slammed the door closed. *** Inside the Library Spike said. “Rude much.” “Sorry Spike but I have to convince Princess Luna that Daymare Sun is coming and we’re running out of time. I just need to be alone to study without a bunch of crazy ponies trying to make friends all the time. Now where is the light?” Twilight Sparkle knew what was coming next. “And now.” “Surprise!” A whole crowd of ponies cheered. Of course both Pinkies were there. “Perfect surprise as usual. I am Pinkamena Diana Pie but you may call me Pinkie Planner.” It was only now that Twilight Sparkle noticed that unlike Pinkie Pie’s Cutie Mark Pinkie Planner’s balloons were all in a straight line. “Yes I was very surprised. Libraries are supposed to be quiet.” Glimmer said. “Which only makes it the perfect place to throw such an unexpected event, when I first saw I realized that you had to be new in town. This probably would have made you feel lonely so I decide to throw one of my patented prefect surprise parties based on your information that I keep on party patron index cards, so that you acquire many friends. For this reason I invented everyone in Ponyville.” Twilight Sparkle was glad all her friends were here. “Girls, we need to figure some way out of this. My magic is useless here has anypony found any way to influence your other self or contact anypony? We need to find a way out of this to save Celestia and Luna.” “No, Twilight, I don’t know how much longer I can take this! Planner doesn’t put anything in parties I enjoy. Not my jams, no hot sauce, not even pin the tail on the pony!” Pinkie Pie said. “Will we have to live our lives over again in this mockery?” Rarity said looking like she was going to faint. “And what about Nightmare Moon? I doubt this coward will face her.” Rainbow Dash said. “That is another difference here instead of Nightmare Moon they have a pony called Daymare Sun and it seems, but I really hope I’m wrong, that this Daymare Sun is Princess Celestia!” Twilight’s friends gasped. “Now hold on for all we know none of what we are seeing is real.” Applejack said. “If all we can do is watch then let’s just hope this ends soon or somepony finds us before it’s too late.” *** Twilight Glimmer went upstairs for bed saying she had a headache which was true; later Spike came up. Hey Twilight, Pinkie Planner brought a game of Factoid Follow-up want to play?”(3) “No! All the ponies in this town are crazy! Do you know what time it is?” “It’s the day of the Winter Moon Celebration, everypony has to stay up or they’ll miss the Princess raise the moon. I thought you would enjoy this Twilight it’s a party.” After Spike left Glimmer said. “For the first time I am trying not to hold of till the last minute and learn more about the Elements of Harmony but silly me, all this ridiculous friend making has kept me from it.” For as Twilight Glimmer rolled over for the first time Twilight Sparkle got a good look at this world’s sun. It was a little dimmer than she was used to because of the large sun spots in the shape of a unicorns head. Surrounding the sun were four lights in the sky that Sparkle knew were Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter. “Legend has it on the longest night of the thousandth year the planets will aid in her escape.” They both said at the same time. “I hope the Princess was right. I hope it really is just an old pony's tale.” Glimmer said. “I’m sorry Glimmer but sometimes we just don’t get what we hope for.” Sparkle said. “Come on Twilight, it’s time to watch the moon rise! “ Spike said. *** At the town hall all the ponies had gathered together for what they thought would be Princess Luna raising the moon. “This is it girls, it is time to see if this really is just some dream we are all having or if we really are in some other version of Equestria.” Twilight Sparkle said. The birds chorus began its song. And the Mayor stepped up to the podium. “Fillies and Gentelcolts, as mayor of Ponyville it is my great pleasure to announce the beginning of the Winter Moon Celebration.” Cheers abounded. “In just a few moments the town will witness the magic of the moon rise and celebrate this the longest night of the year. “ “5.” Twilight Sparkle counted. Both Twilights turned to see the planets go behind the sun and then the sun spots vanish. “And now it is my great honor to introduce to you the ruler of our land.” “4.” “The pony who gives us the moon and the sun each night.” “3.” “The good, the wise…” “2.” “…the bringer of harmony to Equestria…” “1.” “Okay now.” Flutterbrave ordered her birds. “Princess Luna!” The curtain pulled back but of course there was no one there. “This can’t be good.” Twilight Glimmer said. “Remain calm everypony there must be a reasonable explanation.” The Mayor reassured. “She could be running late, no pony is perfect.” Pinkie Planner said. “She’s gone!” Ragity said. “But why?” Planner asked then she gasped as a red fire came from nowhere to the stage. “Oh no.” Glimmer said. The flame transformed into a red coated Alicorn with an orange flame for her mane and tail. She was wearing golden armor and her Cutie Mark was a golden sun with sharp looking triangular rays coming from it. “Daymare Sun.” As soon as glimmer said that Spike fainted. Daymare Sun spoke. “Oh my beloved subjects, it’s been so long since I’ve seen your precious Moon loving faces.” “What…what have you done w…w…with our p…p…p…princess?” Rainbow Stroll said shaking. “Be brave, sugar.” Apple Jill said trying to calm Rainbow Stroll. Daymare Sun laughed. “Why? Am I not royal enough for you? Don’t you know who I am?” “Hmmmm… well you obviously are pony with strong connection to the sun, but to be honest I never heard of any other Alicorn other than Princess Luna.” Pinkie Planner said. The solar Alicorn got in Flutterbrave’s face. Flutterbrave growled and was using all her will power not to hit her and make a bad situation worse. “Does my crown no longer count now that I’ve been imprisoned for a thousand years? “ Then she got close to Ragity and almost burned the top of her hair. “Do you not recall the legends? Did you not see the signs?” Twilight Glimmer spoke. “I did. I know who you are you’re the Shadow in the Sun! Daymare Sun!” The crowd gasped again. “Well, well. Some pony who remembers me. Then you also know why I am here.” “You’re here to… to…” Glimmer couldn’t finish. “Remember this night little ponies for was you last. The day will last forever!” As Daymaree Sun laughed her flaming mane shot up and the sunlight outside became blindingly bright. But through all of this Twilight Sparkle and her friends could see another ghostly figure by Daymare Sun with an angry hateful look on her face. Twilight could hardly believe what she saw. “Princess Celestia?”
