Never Defy
“CURSE YOU GRAVITY” I yelled as a branch hit my head.
“Zaliyn, that joke got old, two years ago...” said a mint green mare.
“You think this is a joke Lyra? I’m telling you it’s evil, and it’s out to destroy us all” I responded.
Lyra put a hoof on my shoulder “Zaliyn, gravity is just a law of physics, it affects us all the same way”.
“You keep thinking that. You wouldn't understand”
“Please stop, you need help. I know I’m not the only one who says that, all of your friends do” Lyra said with concern.
“Fine, I’ll talk to Twilight tomorrow” I responded with a groan.
“Good, the sooner you can put this whole silliness behind you the better you’ll feel” Lyra said, then her eye harden a little “don’t bail out like last time”.
“Alright, fine I’ll actually go this time...” I responded, “You're going to have to drag me there though, I’m not crazy”.
“I know that look Zali, I’m going to have to drag you there aren’t I?” Lyra asked.

“HEY, you’re cheating” I said as Lyra caught hold of me with her magic.
“Its not cheating, especially when you need help” Lyra responded as she levitated me down the street.
I crossed my arms, “common, I don’t need ‘help’ I am NOT crazy”
“You do need help, and I never said you were crazy”
“Thats what your implying. I’m telling you Gravity will destroy us if we don’t do something”.
“And that is why you need help, gravity is not out to get you”
I spotted Twilight’s tree, and as any sane pony would do when they are being forced to a location agents their will, “nonononononononononono, LET ME GO”
Ignoring what I said, Lyra knocked on Twilight’s door. The door opened and Twilight was in the doorway.
“I see you actually came this time Zaliyn” Twilight said looking up at me”
“Not like I had a choice, I can’t fly or use magic...” I stated.
“Alright Lyra you can bring her in here” Twilight said while stepping back.
Lyra walked in with me in tow, the room was the same as ever, shelves and shelves of books. Suddenly, one of the books slid off the shelf and hit Lyra on the head, making her lose her concentration on keeping me levitated. I fell down and landed on my back.
“Curse you Gravity” I muttered while rubbing my back.
“See what I mean, whenever something falls near or on her she blames gravity like it was responsible” Lyra said to Twilight.
“When did this start to happen?” Twilight asked
“Rather, when did I start to notice the truth?” I responded. “It was two years ago, when I was playing Super Smash Bros Brawl”

“Why can’t you just fall off the stage already” Bon-Bon asked me with frustration.
“Because I’m hard to K.O. that's why” I replied.
“That's one of the reasons why we don’t use the New Pork City stage often, its hard to K.O. anypony on a stage that large” Lyra stated.
“Why did we let you pick the stage again?” Bon-Bon asked
“Because the music to the stage is awesome” Vinyl said as it was obvious.
“Well it works to my advantage, and now for the final blow” I said giving a smile, “Great Aether!”
“Player Defeated” the game announced.
“Aww no fair” Bon-Bon said, “Lets play on a more fair stage”
“Fair enough. We’ll use Final Destination then, how that sound?” I asked
“Going from a stage that works in your favor to one that is just the right size, its the best idea you had all night” Lyra said.
“Yeah, and the music to this stage is cool too” Vinyl added in.
“You’re always here for the music aren’t you Vinyl?” Bon-Bon asked.
“Yep”
“Alright lets go” I said while pressing the start button.
After about 4 minutes of endless button mashing and counter attacks, both Vinyl and Lyra was knocked out, leaving me and Bon-Bon with one life left each. We both dodged and counted the attacks while still failing to knock out one or the other.
“Player Defeated” the game said as I fell off the stage.
“You know Zaliyn I’ve have always noticed that most of the time you lose because of falling off the stage not because of a knockout” Vinyl stated, “gravity must hate you”.

“It was meant as a joke Zali” Lyra said, “but you are not letting it go”
“I know it started as a joke but, Gravity does hate me” I responded
“Zaliyn, gravity is unable to posses feelings, its just a thing, a law of physics” Twilight said towards me.
“Its just having its fun, it’ll wait until the right moment to make the final strike” I replied
“The joke’s over, it been over a year” Lyra said, “Bon-Bon is frightened of what you might do, I know you don’t want that. I know that Vinyl doesn’t live in ponyville anymore, but I’m sure she’ll say the same thing”
“If you will not help me, I will find somepony that will” I responded.
Lyra face hooved herself “Zaliyn, we are trying to help you. You are just not listening”.
“So you’re trying to help me by saying I’m crazy. Yeah that’s real helpful” adding clear sarcasm to my voice.
“We’re not saying you’re crazy, you’re just confused” Twilight said, “just listen to logic, to reason. Does it make any sense?”
“It does, it is clear Gravity is just toying with me waiting for me to crack, then strike” I responded.
“Just listen to yourself,how can something that is just an effect do anything but that. You are just having a stream of bad luck” Lyra said with fear creeping into her voice.
“That's what I thought at first too, but it ended up being so often it became clear to me” I said, “I need to get out of here, I need to make a move”. My stomach growled.
“Well we have made no progress. I think it’s best to take a break for now” Twilight said.
“Alright, Zaliyn lets get some food, but we’re not done with this yet” Lyra said with a stern voice.
Lyra and I walked out of Twilight’s house, and headed towards The Sugarcube Corner. As Lyra entered I stayed outside and ran off to the town square, not paying attention to whatever Lyra yelled out to me.
“Now that I’m here, I know what I must do” I thought, “Ponies of Ponyville, have anything ever got you down? Have you ever been hit by something that is impossible to explain?”
A crowd started forming in front of me muttering about what I said.
“Well I know what it is, it is Gravity that is putting us down!” I yelled.
“You’re crazy! gravity can’t harm you on purpose” a voice came from the crowd.
“Gravity is trying to slowly weaken us, it is trying to hold us back” I said back to the crowd. "WELL I HAD ENOUGH OF IT’S EVIL, I know what we must do!”
“Gravity can’t be evil or good” another voice from the Crowd yelled at me.
“We must fight back! On this day, I DECLARE WAR ON GRAVITY”
Suddenly, all the clouds in the sky fell, and the trees were ripped out of the ground and started floating. A black orb appeared in the sky, and it floated down to hover over the now panicking crowd.
“You mortal have taken rash action” The orb said
“W...what are you?” I managed to say.
“WHAT YOU THINK? I am the one you declared war on, I AM Gravity”.
“Why... do you torcher me?” I asked the orb
“Well I was starting to get tired of you Ponies, so I decided to see what one would do if I were to focus more on just one individual, and I chose you Zaliyn. At random of course” Gravity responded. “Now that you took such an action against me, to declare war on me, I’m going to show you why nothing must defy me. I can’t have any other creature to have such thoughts”
“Www...wait, I call it off” I stumbled out.
“NO. Once war been declared upon me and not in a joking manner, I see it through” Gravity yelled “but don’t be sad you’ll get to see my true form, a form almost none gets to see”.
“Doesn’t Pinkie Pie somewhat defies you?” I asked.
“No, she does not defy me. I let her do that, I need entertainment too you know” Gravity responded “NOW, I will reveal my true form to you”
The Black orb started to change shape, with 8 large black spider legs extending out the lower half of the orb. The center orb stretched to form a torso with 2 spider legs extending from where it’s arms should be, and on it’s back 4 small bat-like wings formed. The most horrifying sight of it was a skull of a Pony spouted on top, with eyes of pure black flames.
“Now little one, stare into my eyes for it’ll be the last thing you will EVER SEE” Gravity said with a booming voice.
As if it was meant to be, I turned to look into Gravity’s black, flaming eyes and then, I saw nothing.
