Something soft gently brushed Fluttershy's flank startling her into a squeaking crouch.

“Oh, I'm so sorry...” came a quiet and demure voice from behind her. “I was just so busy picking flowers that I didn't see you there.”

“Oh, no. I didn't mean to get in your way,” replied Fluttershy peeking out of her mane at the new pony.

“No, it was my fault. I should have looked where I was going,” the delicate yellow earth pony mare with the most startling green eyes, replied.

“Oh, it's okay, I should have been looking where I was going to...”

The Fluttershy and the strange mare both dug shyly at the ground with there hooves, refusing to meet each others eyes.

A long moment passed.

Flowers swayed in the breeze and butterfly’s drifted about. The sun light felt pleasantly warm on their yellow coats. A basket of posies sat half filled at the hooves of the other pony. A small packed picnic basket beside Fluttershy.

Another long moment passed.

“I'm s...” that both started and stopped.

“I'm sorry I didn't mean to interrupt you,” the pegasus apologized.

“Oh, no that's perfectly okay, I'm sure what you had to say was important.”

A moment passed. Short then the last one.

Peeking out from her pink bangs Fluttershy was startled to see the other mare peeking out at her from behind her own pink bangs with those marvellous green eyes. The other mare was also startled.

They both retreated behind their bangs.

“Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to stare at you like that,” the other mare excused.

“That's my fault, I shouldn't have been staring at you either.”

Fluttershy tried again. peeking just a little with one eye. She caught the other trying peek just a little to. With one half eye each looking at each other Fluttershy offered a little smile and it was returned.

Wanting nothing more then to coax that eye out from cover Fluttershy dug deep into her reserves of assertiveness.

“Maybe it's okay... to stare... um, I mean look... just a little. If you don't mind that is... do you? I can stop if you want...”

“No... um I mean... Okay. Yes. It's okay if it's okay with you I mean. I don't mind. As long as you don't mind that is...”

Boldly the two ponies looked at each other in the eye.

The earth pony was certainly delicate and graceful. Her eyes were so soft and kind. Her posture so timid and quiet. Like a timid mouse waiting to be befriended.

A strong emotion swept through Fluttershy's heart. An overwhelming desire to protect and guard this precious creature. To help her to grow and become strong.

A different emotion struggled it's way up her cheeks in a rapidly growing blush.

Terrified of showing such emotions before a strange pony she looked down at the ground.

The grass and flowers on the ground were swaying less. The wind was calming down.

Fluttershy looked up wondering if the other pony had left. She was also looking intently at the grass and flowers. Her cheeks where kind of red probably just from the heat of the sun.

The sun! It was hot out! She might be suffering from the initial stages of heat stroke! The poor dear! Here she was distracting her from what could become a serious condition in another hour or so! Had it been an hour already? Not a full hour, no, but close and getting closer. She was such a terrible pony!

“I...” chocked out the pegasus, struggling to overcome her terror and take responsibility for her actions. “I'm...”

The timid earth pony looked up at her in slow surprise and admiration.

You can do this Fluttershy! I can do it! Believe in myself! Believe in the ewe that believes in me! His name is Phil. He's a very good ewe. He always eats he vegetables and always goes to bed on times. I can't let him down.

“ah, I'm... I'm F...” Oh sweet Celestia this was hard. A bead of sweat was rolling down from her mane. “Er, um.... Ah! I'm Fluttershy!” She quickly hid her head under her hooves.

The pegasus panted with exhaustion after the effort of having been the first to introduce herself. It was worth it. For Phil.

“I'm...” started the other mare quietly. Her eyes locked shinning in admiration on the pegasus. With a deep breath to bolster herself and with suddenness and violence more appropriate for setting a broken bone into place declared “Meet you pleased! Posy I.”

Posy blushed fiercely at her grammar failure and also hid her face under hooves.

Peeking out from under a yellow hoof Fluttershy levelled an eye toward Posy as she calmed herself. She was such a nice pony. A little shy though.

With infinite patience Fluttershy waited for Posy to peek out of hooves. She ambushed her with a soft reassuring smile. Posy countered with one of her own.

“I brought a lunch. There's an extra soda. If you want it. If I'm not being too forward. I'm sorry,” apologized Fluttershy.

“No, that's okay. If you want. I can. If that's okay with you, I mean.”

“It's perfectly okay. I want you to. Please.”

Fluttershy and Posy sat on the hilltop side by side, drinking their soda's. Butterflies and flowers moved merrily in their timeless dance.

The yellow pegasus took a deep relaxing sigh. She felt a slight blush crawling up her face, but it was likely just the heat.

Her own tail flipped carelessly and landed across Posy's.

“Oh, I'm sorry.”

“It's fine. You can leave it.”

“But...”

“Please?”

“I'm sorry.”

Tails entwined they sat. Fluttershy's blush deepened. It sure was hot out today.

A butterfly settled delicately upon a flower's velvety petal. It reached it's delicate proboscis into the nestled and soft stamen in the flowers heart and began to hungrily sip away at it's nectar.

Very hot out today.

Fluttershy listlessly tossed a salad in her kitchen. It was a fairly quiet day. Or rather it was quiet right now. She had just finished settling her animals down for an afternoon nap.

Properly mixed she set down the bowls of salad for herself and her beloved bunny Angel. The bunny gave her a glare before digging into the salad.

“Oh, I'm sorry, it just takes a little while to mix the dressing,” Fluttershy apologized to her diminutive charge.

She was about to settle into her own bowl when from the door came a soft knock. Just one knock made it to her ears, but she had the impression that it had come in the middle of a series of even softer knocks that had failed to puncture the transient silence of her home.

Fluttering to the door the cautiously cracked open the door to catch a tentative peek at her new guest.

Standing well away from the door was Posy. She was looking down and scratching at the ground with her hoof in an absent minded fashion.

“Hi, Posy,” the pegasus greeted shyly while she triumphed within her heart. She came! To her house! This was just so wonderful! A timid smile emerged onto her face.

“Hi, Fluttershy.”

Both ponies returned to silence. Time began to pass by quite rudely.

Angel Bunny, possibly Angel T. Bunny, now finished his meal, hopped up to his master, maid and general friend. He glanced at the new pony and then back to Fluttershy. With an aggravated huff he gave her a kick to get her working again.

“Ow, Oh, I mean, how rude of me, would you like to come in for some tea?”

The other mare squeaked her ascent.

“Come right this way.”

Posy squeaked her gratitude as she made her way inside.

“Oh, don't worry about it. I was just about to put on a pot anyway. I don't have any cream. I hope that's alright.”

The squeak indicated that it was fine.

“Just settle down here and I'll go get the tea on,” Fluttershy gestured to her sofa. Yes, this was going so very well. This was just like she had idly day dreamed it.

Posy flinched away from Angel pointed two extended toes of his fore paw first to him self indicating his eyes and then pointing to the earth pony in question. Surrounded by a thick air of menace the bunny hopped away.

The yellow pegasus returned with a tea set balanced elegantly on her head just as her guest began to settle down. Setting the tray down on the edge of the table and sliding it forward with her nose, she then took a seat in a chair opposite of Posy.

“It's mint. I hope you like it.”

Posy squeaked.

“I'm glad, sugar?”

The fair yellow pony noised.

“Two? A bit of a sweet tooth you have.”

The two ponies sat in silence sipping hot tea from delicate floral printed cups. Fluttershy was feeling very good. Here in her home she was actually feeling kind of sort of bold.

Posy looked so delicate. Trying desperately not to take up any space on the couch, she sat almost vertically. Her cup held securely in both hooves right under her nose while she tried to hide the bulk of her face behind it.

Eyes locked on Posy, Fluttershy played her tongue along the edge of her own cup. She was rewarded by a sudden stillness as her guest out right stopped breathing.

Was this how Rainbow felt when she teased her? She imagined it was. With a smile of satisfaction Flutters enjoyed the sensation of having the roles reversed for once. And with such a lovely mare as well.

A slight frown played across her face. She suddenly wondered about her attraction to this other mare. She hadn't really thought of herself as... a mare that liked other mares that way. Not that there was anything wrong with that. But she couldn't deny her attraction. It would be unfair to discount this delicate mare just because of her gender. No, she would indulge in this. Just a little bit.

“Um, I'm very glad you came.”

“Thank you very much,” the other mare whispered without making eye contact. She was finally starting to loosen up.

“I want you to understand that you are certainly very welcome here,” Fluttershy squealed inwardly at how fantastically assertive she was being.

“Okay,” she replied in a soft, soft breath. Posy set her empty cup on to the table. “I... I should go.”

“Ah...”

Posy stiffly stood up and took a step towards the door.

“No! I mean, please don't. I mean, please stay for a little longer,” the yellow pegasus struggled to contain her panic and find deeper reserves of assertiveness.

“No, no, I've troubled you enough.”

Fluttershy closed her eyes a dug deep down searching for the strength to hold onto what she wanted. To say what she truly meant. To defy her restraint and express her true self.

A clip of hoof upon the hard wooden floor echoed through her home and into her ears.

She saw herself alone this evening and all the evenings to follow. She felt the pain of it. Of the despair of waiting for this pony to return.

“Listen, you little pony slut,” Fluttershy quivered with sudden violent rage, “You aren't leaving before you've spread your legs for me!”

Posy stood frozen in terror. Her eyes clicked to the door and back.

“Oh, I'm so sorry I didn't mean... um, You don't really have to if you don't want to. I just got kind of carried away right there. I'm so sorry.” She really hadn't meant to express quite that much. Her sudden outburst had left her incredibly mortified and rather shocked.

A long moment passed. In that moment Fluttershy patiently waited for her lovely guest to break out into a run for the door. She stood looking terribly guilty and ashamed for exposing herself so fully.

Posy on the other hoof just stood frozen with some unreadable thought process rolling around in her head.

Finally Posy turned away from Fluttershy. She lowered her head hiding her expression.

And then something terribly unexpected happened.

Fluttershy looked on in blank confusion as Posy's rear left hoof took a step to the left and her rear right hoof took a step to the right.

Then Posy's tail lifted up to one side.

And that was when the yellow pegasus passed out from hyperventilating.
