“Somepony out there believed in you enough to give you another try.”

Second chances.

Have you ever been given a second chance at something? It feels good, doesn’t it? Knowing that even though you failed the first time, somepony out there believed in you enough to give you another try.

I’ve had plenty of second chances in my lifetime. Some I’ve blown off, some I’ve succeeded on, and yet others I failed at again. Of course, the best second chances are the ones you succeeded at; picking a lock on your second try, getting a second date even though the first went bad, or maybe even redoing a test you failed and getting an A. I’ve had all of these and more, but, the greatest second chance I’ve had, was getting a second chance at life. To live how I wanted, to have a job that I actually enjoyed, and to not live under the oppression of a tyrannical government.

But, before I go any further, perhaps I should introduce myself. I am Sergeant Auburn Proverb of the Dead City Rangers, an elite special forces group in Moosecow, part of the Northern Federal Alliance. That is who I am now.

In my previous life, I was Chief Master Sergeant Auburn Proverb of the Enclave Special Forces Division, Delta Squadron. That is who I am no longer.

How did I go from one to the other? Well, that is the tale of my greatest second chance, a chance at a new life, a chance to live another day.
