> An Orange Dosn't Fall Far From the Tree > by seatiger19 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Manehatten Beauty > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The bright morning comes. Do you remember the warm summer suns? Well if you do you will remember this story told at the campfire. The roasted marshmallows and the tents tied with thin wire. This was just a fairy tale. But it turned the others faces pale. But if this fantasy really was real. How would the actual characters feel? Would they love what they hear. Or would they hate it full of fear. Something that may have been foreseen. Starting with a beautiful mare named Tangerine. *** Tangerine woke up to the warm sun hitting her face. It was another beautiful spring day and her potted plants had been growing well. Tangerine had always been a green thumb, her Aunt and Uncle could never figure out why she was so good with plants. She was also always very honest, when she was little she broke the cookie jar but she told her Aunt exactly what happened. She was home schooled because her Aunt and Uncle didn't want her to be teased by how she didn't have a cutie mark. Tangerine Got her cutie mark after helping her Uncle work in the orange orchard one day and got it as three oranges. Tangerine walked over to her desk putting her hair into a braid and then putting her tail in a braid. She put on a simple casual cyan dress, and walked down the stairs to get breakfast. Her Aunt had made pancakes with orange juice. She gulped down the orange juice and properly nibbled at the pancakes until she was done. "Auntie I'm going out to sell some oranges, the ones that uncle brought home yesterday" Tangerine yelled into the kitchen, where her Aunt usually was. "Okay but can you grab the sack full of toys and donate it to the orphanage for me" she yells back. "Okay" Tangerine yells back going out the door and onto the streets of Manehatten. She carefully runs out to the sidewalk, where there is a kind looking stallion walking in the direction Tangerine was going. She thought it would be nice to talk with someone so she walked up to him and said "Hello." "Oh hello..." his words trail off after looking at the beautiful pony. "Um my name is Flint, I um work on the..." he starts to say but trailing off. "Oh mister Flint my father talks highly of you, he says you are a hard worker" Tangerine replies trying not to let the conversation go downhill. This often happened when she tried to talk to other ponies. "Oh really" Flint says lifting his head up high. "Oh nice talking to you, this is where I set up stand" Tangerine says stopping at a clearing in the crowd. "Here let me help you" the white stallion said. He helped her put up the stand and bought an orange. She was so happy how well the day was already going. "Um miss" a maroon mare runs up to her orange cart. "May I have all of the oranges please" she says holding out five bits. Tangerine new it was under priced but didn't want to be rude, so she packed up the oranges in a sack and set them down. "Thanks so much" Tangerine said, putting the money in the small cashier register. Tangerine then handed the rushed mare the sack and started cleaning up. She reached for the sack of toys and was going to start head off to the orphanage when she realized how heavy the sack was. She opened it and found all of the oranges she had just sold. "Oh no" Tangerine whispers to herself. She ran down the bustling streets when she saw the mare barely in front of her. She was running so fast, she didn't notice the light orange stallion that just stepped in her way. She was to late, she crashed into the stallion knocking a pink purse out of his pocket and spilling the contents everywhere. "So very sorry" she says helping him pick up the bits, she grabs the purse and puts the bits back in. She sees curly writing on the purse, Miss Jessica Prunes, it says. Remembering her neighbor saying that she lost her pure yesterday, "You don't look like a Jessica Prunes" Tangerine says snatching the bits he held in his hand, and running off. Unfortunately some other ponies saw her and thought she was stealing from the poor stallion. Tangerine ran down the street sticking the purse in her pocket and looking for the mare she gave the wrong sack to. She looked around and saw the mare turn down Second street. She ran past a mare in a black suit a with deep purple mane and a white body. Tangerine saw the mare go into an old rusty apartment, so she pursued her up to the apartment. Orange rang the doorbell and the mare opened it to see a wrecked mess of a pony. "Oh dear, You caught me, I under payed" she said looking down at six colts chewing on their pacifiers. "No no, I gave you the wrong bag" Tangerine says out of breath. "Oh" she said taking her bag and looking in it. Tangerine hands her the beg of oranges and says "No you can have we were going to donate it anyways, and you look like you could use them" Tangerine says pushing the bag of toys back at the mare looking down at the wide eyed colts looking up at her. Tangerine turns around and shuts the door, but before she does she hears a small "Thank you." "Halt. Put your hands up. And turn around" A light shined in Tangerine's face. There was a couple of police ponies looking at her. Tangerine obediently does what they say. She ends up behind bars, with the orange stallion staring at her with evil eyes. The mare she just helped was there and so was the white stallion who helped her set up the orange stand. A telephone booth was set up in the bars where she could call her Aunt probably just a holding cell. She walked over to the phone sadly and picked it up and put in her home number. "Yes this is the Orange residence" her Aunt replies back, "Hi Auntie its me, I uhh have a problem" Tangerine says into the phone. "What is that sweetheart, we can get through it" her Aunt says kindly realizing it was Tangerine. "Well umm I'm in jail" Tangerine says, silence. "Your what... What Did You Do!" her Aunt says calmly like shes dealt with it before. "Just come here and I will explain it to everyone" Tangerine says with a sigh, she thought her Aunt would be more violent. "Okay just hold tight" her Aunt says hanging up. "Okay kid you getta see the sherrif" the policeman says taking her out of her cell and up the stairs into an organized office. A grey stallion with dark blue hair looked up at her from his coffee. He took a bite of his chocolate doughnut and looked Tangerine strait in the eyes. "Sorry kid, but let me tell you something" he remarked with an ugly smirk on his face. "I have a superpower, I can tell when someone is lying-" he says, "Oh thats a relief" Tangerine interrupted smiling. "You see 'sherrif' I don't lie." Tangerine says. "Oh we will see about that, tell me why you stole from the Stallion?" he asked his eyes piercing hers. "I didn't steal from him he stole from my neighbor, and I was going to return it" Tangerine says returning the stare. He is surprised to see that she is telling the truth but he continues. "Then what were you doing at Mrs. Seeds house" he asked hardening the stare. "I was giving her the sack of oranges that I accidentally switched with another sack" Tangerine says relieving the truth once again. "Your good kid, but then why did you..." the sherrif stumbles not knowing any more questions to prove shes guilty. "Your fine lead her to the waiting room" he says sighing. As Tangerine leaves she can hear him moping in his defeat. She is lead into a comfortable waiting room with fluffy red chairs and a rug. The rug catches Tangerine's eye. It shows a duel of two unicorns one is white as snow and the other is black as night. On the edges of the rug it shows different constellations and stars. Tangerine's mom arrives and takes Tangerine away when learning she did nothing bad. Their neighbor, Jessica walks through the door right as Tangerine and her mom are leaving. But hearing about the situation Jessica thanks Tangerine. Tangerine gets home around dinner time she hadn't eaten since breakfast, but she wasn't that hungry. She grabs an orange and goes up to her room falling asleep immediately. > The Apple Family > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apple Bloom woke up to the sharp hay poking her back. She got up and threw her quilt off of her knowing that today Big Mac was going to try to get her into school. She folded her red quilt and put it in the upper part of the barn. She woke up early because right when she walked out of the barn the rooster cawed. She ran to the farm house, Big Mac was waiting for her in the office looking sadly at some documents. When she bounced in he put the documents into the cabinet in the desk. Apple Bloom has been suspicious ever since he started waking up early. Bic Mac used to never wake up early. He didn't wake up on time either. "Good mornin" Apple Bloom says sitting down and eating a yellow apple. "Eyup" Big Mac replies getting up and walking out of the office. Apple Bloom is following with big puppy eyes. "Sorry lil' apple, we don't have enough money for ya to go to school" he replies sadly looking at his little sister. "But but Ya promised" Apple Bloom said tearing up. "Ah am so sorry lil'" he said walking to the fields, "Why don't ya go see Granny" he replied looking away from the filly. The filly ran down the dirt road crying the whole way. The hospital was just across the school. Please don't see me Apple Bloom thought passing the school. "Oh Apple Bloom you are just in time" Cheerilee said ringing the school bell. "Join us" she said bringing the earth pony inside. "But ah can't-" Apple Bloom started, but when she started she was already in the classroom. "Nah miss Cheerilee ah can't I'm not allowed" Apple Bloom says. There was an orange pegasus looking at Apple Bloom with intense eyes. There was a white unicorn standing next to the pegasus looking pathetic for the filly. "Ha Ha blank flank" White Diamond says walking into the classroom fashionably late. "White Diamond your tarty" Cheerilee replied angrily. "What ev" White Diamond said taking her seat next to Silver Spoon. Apple Bloom hurried out of the classroom while Cheerilee was distracted. She ran all the way to the hospital, noticing she forgot her pink bow. "Ah came to see Granny Smith" Apple Bloom asks the mare at the front desk. "Room 176 second level, knock" the pony said bored. Apple bloom walked up the newly polished stair case, admiring the beauty of it all. She walked strait into the orange pegasus she saw at the school. "So what are you doin here" she said getting close to Apple Bloom's face. "Ah.... ah... uh. the better question is whata you doin here" Apple Bloom said looking at the Orange Pegasus. "My name is Scootaloo" she said completely ignoring Apple Bloom's question. "Ah-" "I know your Apple Bloom, Miss Cheerilee said it in class" Scootaloo said. "Aren't ya supposed to be in school?" Apple Bloom asked giving Scootaloo a quizzical look. "Ummm yea I don't like school anyways" Scootaloo said spitting at the ground. "Well then ah hope ya have a good day" Apple Bloom said trying to squeeze past the determined pegasus. What was her deal anyways, wanted to sneak out of shcool just to see me Apple Bloom thought. "Fine if your in such a hurry meet me at Diamond Tiara's party" Scootaloo said giving up with the yellow earth pony. "And don't think you can get away because you weren't invited" Scootaloo replied giving Apple Bloom the stink eye. Apple Bloom stomps up the stairs not bothering to look back. But as she passes the filly she realizes that Scootaloo didn't have a cutie mark. She looked at her blank flank and thought how she could lie to Big Mac. I could say I'm going on a long walk, yea thats what I'll do she thinks walking down the clean smelling hallway. Apple Bloom is sitting outside of room 176. She takes a deep breath and opens the door. The immediate smell of hand sanitizer fills Apple Blooms nose. She sees Granny Smith laying limply in the hospital bed and her younger roommate sleeping next to her. Apple Bloom had a fondness of Granny Smith's roommate. He had traveled all over Equestria, Manehatten to Canterlot, Trottingham to Los Pegasus. The light grey stallion had so many stories he told the filly. Apple Bloom was often talking to him in her free time. He was always so kind to her, and once saved some of his dessert from lunch and gave it to her. When Apple Bloom found out that he had a lung disease, and no one to call family, she tried to spend lots of time with him. "Hello Granny" she whispered into the large room. The old mare's face turned to her Apple Bloom and was glad she wasn't alone anymore. "Hello-" she got cut off trying to remember the fillies name even though she saw her yesterday. "Apple Bloom" Apple bloom said finishing her sentence for her. "Ah yes" Granny said, "How is your flank" Granny teased jokingly. "Ah think my cutie mark is being invisible" Apple bloom said jokingly back. That made Granny Smith laugh a bit. "What about your cure to loneliness, found it yet" Granny asked the young filly. "Actually a pegasus named Scootaloo tried talkin' to me but ah-" Apple Bloom didn't want to say she didn't want to talk with the other filly, so she was at a loss of words. "Ya didn't know what to say" this time Granny Smith finished her sentence. "Yea" Apple Bloom sighed. "Well ya need to remember life is partly what you make it, and partly what it is made by the friends ya choose" Granny Smith explained. But after she said that she fell asleep. "Ya I guess it is!" Apple Bloom exclaimed, "Thanks Granny I knew-" she started but seeing that she had fallen asleep she stopped and walked out of the room. Apple Bloom bounded her way back to Sweet Apple Acres anxiously waiting for Diamond Tiara's party. But as she got there Big Mac was yelling at a yellow stallion in a white with blue striped suit. Saying something about Sweet Apple Acres, but Apple Bloom was so happy she didn't notice. "I told you mister, three months. But if you don't have the money by then you have to get off the land" > The Storm > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The filly is running through the darkness. She sees the light a little bit away from her. But the shadow was getting closer. The smoke raping around the trees as it followed her. The Trees waved in fire, the deepest blood red fire. The little orange filly couldn't run out the shadow. So close to the edge of the forest, but one of trees in front of her caught fire. She tripped barely missing the bloodied flames. "You can't run from fate" the shadow whispered as it swallowed the filly in its vast shadow. *** Tangerine woke with a start sweat dripping all over her. The same dream this week Tangerine thought shaking the far out of her. "You all right, up there" her Aunt called hearing all the ruckus. "Nothing Auntie" Tangerine yelled down the stairs. She through on a green jacket and a cute hat that matched. She grabbed an orange and ran out the door. I need fresh air Tangerine thought running to the central park. The birds chirped and the pink peonies sparkling with morning dew. Tangerine loved the park, with the trees and the freedom of the big city even if you could here the bustling streets. She loved the cute animals, the colourful plants, and different birds. Tangerine tried making friends but she scared everyone away. She would be as kind and generous as possible but they would never talk back. Until that one morning. "Hello" Tangerine said to a blue unicorn. "Oh hello" the mare said back. She looked like one of the more rich folk. "Hi my name is Tangerine" Tangerine held out her hoof. The blue pony shook it gracefully, "I'm Shooting Star, the mayor's daughter" she chatted. "Oh wow, you must have a gorgeous house" Tangerine said. "Yea, more like a prison" Shooting Star replied. "Do you ummm want to walk" Tangerine asked the pony. The mare was a medium blue with white mane and tail. She kept her mane in a messy bun and her tail looked well brushed. Her cutie mark was a shooting star, weird that. "So how'd you get your cutie mark" Tangerine asked looking at the mares flank. "Oh that, I looked through a telescope and saw the planets and stars" she sighed, "If only I were as free as a star, they can wonder space wherever they want" Shooting Star said. "You know I never thought of it like that, I always thought that stars were organized and always in line and how much I would rather be a tree" Tangerine said looking up at the sky. "A tree?" Shooting Star gave her a confused look. "Yea they grow and grow and look down on all the good things-" Tangerine started "But what about the bad things" Shooting Star interrupted her. "Well see thats were the good part would be, you wouldn't have to make mistakes, you would wait and watch and learn, you wouldn't be the one making the mistakes, you would just be free and live a long life" Tangerine said looking at the other pony. "But what about movement you would have to stay in that spot and watch the world go by" Shooting Star looked at Tangerine waiting for a response. "Well sometimes change is a good thing" Tangerine replied. "I guess" Shooting Star said. "Well I got to go, bye" Shooting Star said leaving Tangerine and heading towards town hall. Tangerine was so happy she ran home not noticing the storm behind her. "Hey Auntie I'm home, guess what I just-" Tangerine was cut short when she saw her Aunt running around boarding up windows and wrapping the indoor plants in blankets. "Uhhh Auntie what are you doing" Tangerine asked her panicked Aunt. "Oh Tangerine didn't see you there" her Aunt replied totally ignoring Tangerine's question. The only other time her Aunt did this was when she was a filly and a hurricane hit... a hurricane. Tangerine looked outside and saw the raging storm in the horizon. "Auntie did you call Uncle?" Tangerine breathed worried. "Oh oh dear no I didn't" her Aunt says rushing out of the room. Tangerine looked outside and saw no pony getting ready for the storm. "Mom I'll be right back" Tangerine called as she ran out the door. She ran so fast she could have fainted but she couldn't let any pony be hurt. She bustled past all kinds of ponies when she reached the bell. The giant silver bell was only used twice in history. The time of the Hurricane and the first time it was built. She asked the pony at the desk if she could use it and that it was a dire emergency, but the pony said no. She told them that a storm was coming and that it was a giant storm, but the pony still said no. So she grabbed the megaphone and ran up the stairs to the bell. The desk pony screaming security the whole time. Once Tangerine got to the top she hit the bell and raised the megaphone. "Every Pony, A great storm is coming, go home board up your windows. If you don't believe me then look for yourselves" Tangerine yells through the megaphone pointing west towards the giant storm. Every pony looked then panicked. There were ponies running everywhere to there houses, or just to shelter. Orange saw a homeless pony hiding under a box. She ran to the colt and took him to the orphanage, she said "this colt was found in the street keep him until some pony takes him" Tangerine commanded. Tangerine started for the door when she saw all the windows were open and all the little fillies and colts were endangered. In record time she bolted all the windows and locked the door. She then ran out into the streets, the desolated quiet streets. No pony was on the streets, but random items flew in the strong wind. "Ha, them ponies think some storms coming" an old scavenger pony walked the streets. Tangerine ran at that pony with her head down. Hitting him with a thud as he fell on her back. Tangerine remembered the old abandoned house and ran full speed towards it. She opened the door and bucked the old pony in boarding all the windows and back door. Tangerine covered the unconscious pony with a blanket she found in the attic and ran out of the building. She was on the other side of town and the storm was almost overhead. Knowing she wasn't going to make it she sat down and rested for a sec. When she got up and started walking to her apartment. She felt a bolt of energy and started gaining breath. She started running and then sprinting. I can make it she thought turning onto her street. She felt the adrenaline and the rain drops hitting her back. They fell calmly and carefully down her body. She felt it down her face the wet water splashing everywhere. She ran up the steps and her door she knocked with the energy she had left. The lightning and thunder rang across the city lighting it up. It would be a miracle if her Aunt and Uncle heard her knocking. So she sat on the porch admitting defeat to the storm. But just as she plopped down the door opened and her Aunts face looked down at her he tears rushing down her face. "Tangerine" she whispered as she pulled Tangerine inside. "I thought I lost you" her Aunt teared up, "You helped save everyone, your a hero..." her Aunt stuttered. "Nah its nothing" Tangerine turned on the radio. "Tangerine...we...I" her Uncle came down the stairs. "I know, turn off all the electricity" Tangerine told her worried uncle who was still in his work clothes. Tangerine went to grab a blanket, I'm safe Tangerine thought as she sat down next to the radio listening to the thunder pound and the pitter patter of the rain on the windows. "There is a big storm hitting Manehatten and the streets are deserted. The ponies were saved by a mare who told them to 'go home and protect themselves" the weather man said on the radio. I guess I am a hero Tangerine thought as she slowly closed her eyes and fell asleep. > Letters > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The starving filly sat shivering in the corner of the alley way. Surrounded by hungry ponies who wanted a bite to eat. They circled the yellow filly like vultures whispering the pieces they wanted. There voices like snakes winding there ways out of the scary ponies mouths. The filly with no where to go huddled in the corner. She felt the slimy slobber of the starving ponies as they got closer. The closest ones red eyes glaring at her, and opens its mouth to show a row of sharp white teeth. The teeth ready to rip at the fillies flesh. It bites into her. *** Apple Bloom woke with a start feeling the sharp hay piercing her back. It was just a dream, it was just a dream, it was just a dream Apple Bloom thought as she jumped out of bed. More like a nightmare she folded her quilt and put it up just like she always did. She went to go say good morning to Big Mac like she always did, but he wasn't their. Hmm thats weird hes always here in the morning she thought as she looked around the whole farmhouse. She bounded into the office where there was a pile of papers on the desk. She was going to look through them when she looked at the clock. No wonder Big macs not here I woke up late! the filly thought bouncing out of the office and onto the dirt road. "I hope Granny Smith Doesn't get mad" Apple Bloom says to herself. "Talking to our imaginary friend are we" Diamond Tiara laughed as she passed Apple Bloom. "Not Sorry blank flank" she said as she tripped Apple Bloom into the mud. "Yea right ya ugly worm" Apple Bloom called out to Diamond Tiara. "HIYA" a white unicorn popped up right next to Apple Bloom. "I'm sure you met my friend, Scootaloo yesterday, Its my turn to see ya, were taking turns being sick. See my sister left town for Canterlot for a week and my parents will believe anything. My name is Sweetie Belle" the filly said. "I'm Apple Bloom" Apple Bloom held out her hoof to Sweetie Bloom. "Cool, were all blank flanks I thought me and scoots were the only ones, now Scoots said that you visit your granny then you wonder around sooo... I will come with you" Sweetie Belle yelled into Apple Bloom's ear. "How did you, Scootaloo followed me..." Apple Bloom was thinking out loud. "Yup, don't be hurt she follows every pony!" Sweetie Belle said exited. "Fine ya can come just be quiet" Apple Bloom told the anxious unicorn. She walked all the way listening to Sweetie Belle talk about her older sister Rarity and how great she was. I want an older sister Apple Bloom thought but her thought was kept short because they reached the hospital. "Woah, I've never been to the hospital, I bet its sparkly on the inside" Sweetie Belle said as she bounded through the door. "Go on in" the desk pony said knowing it was Apple Bloom, who came every day. But what she didn't notice is the little white unicorn who followed Apple Bloom in. "Sweet, that was easy" Sweetie Belle said, "What was easy?" asked Apple Bloom. "Sneaking past that guard" Sweetie Belle replied. "Shes not a guard shes a desk pony... where did you hear that she was a guard?" Apple Bloom asked the strange unicorn. "Oh I was just guessing since she sat behind that big fort and watched every pony" Sweetie Belle concluded, "Thats the desk" Apple Bloom sighed. They both walked into the room. Granny was there but her roommate wasn't. "Hay Granny" Apple Bloom spoke, " Mah darlin' apple, how is it?" she asked getting better at remembering Apple Bloom. "Good good ah brought a friend ah hope ya don't mind?" Apple Bloom said pointing to Sweetie Belle who was jumping around the room. "Ah howdy lil' pony whats ya name" Granny Smith asked the unicorn. "I'm Sweetie Belle, Nice to meet you" Sweetie Belle said with a big smile, she looked at the old pony with her big eyes. "Ya friend have eyes just like ya sister, Lil' Apple" Granny Smith declared. My what... Apple Bloom was confused. "Ah have a sister" Apple Bloom asked Granny Smith. "Ya don't ya know, Big Mac shoulda told ya, Apple somethin' I think, pretty green eyes just like hers" Granny Smith replies pointing to Sweetie Belle's eyes. "Ah think actually ah don't know, did ya have a sister, maybe not..." her Granny goes into great thought about the subject. "Oh hi lil' Apple how is it?" she asks again. "Um good ah was just leavin'..." Apple Bloom mumbled sneaking out of the room. "Ooohhh how exiting, you have a sister, or don't I don't really know" Sweetie Belle said skipping down the hallway. "Well nice talkin' with ya, ah got to go" Apple Bloom replied sprinting out of the hospital. Leaving the unicorn unsure to go, she would probably sneak back into the house and keep pretending she was sick. "Big Mac!" Apple Bloom yelled across the apple fields. "BIG MAC!" she yelled again. Apple bloom was wondering around the fields seeing giant buckets with apples, she has been forgetting to move them in storage. "Eyyyup" she hears behind her. Big Mac was bucking a tree behind her, "um do ah have a sister?" she asked. "Noooppe" he said bucking the trees. "Are ya sure? Granny Smith said ah did" Apple Bloom asked again. "Eyup" he returned, "eyup ah have a sister or eyup ah don't have a sister?" she asked again. "Eyup ya don't have a sister" he said moving onto another tree. She started moving the buckets into storage but took a few to make some cider, she was thirsty. I guess I don't have a sister, dangit that really got my hopes up she thought drinking her cider as she watched the fillies play in a nearby field. Apple Bloom was sneaking around, looking for any kind of clue. She walked into the office. There were papers stacked up everywhere. The papers were all pretty boring until she found one with a bunch of red marks. How much money!!!!! she thought as she looked at the amount due. That is impossible, I knew we where... but she thought looking at all of the papers again, realizing there wasn't enough money to pay for the farm. She heard the door open, she looked around for a hiding place. Behind the desk was a cupboard, she squeezed into it as Big Mac walked into the room. He took a couple papers and left but before he left he opened one of the desk parts and took out a picture. He looked at the picture quickly then put it back and locked it. He put the key in the flower pot. Once he was gone Apple Bloom came out from her hiding place. She took the key from the flower pot and went to open the desk when Big Mac steeped into the room. "Apple Bloom what are ya doin' in here?" he asked noticing the key in her hoof. "Ah was looking for mah bow, I left here?" she quickly covered up the seen. "Ah found this key and ah was gonna open this compartment" Apple Bloom said pointing to the other desk part. "Oh well thats the wrong key, ah think ah saw ya bow downstairs anyways" he replied taking the key from her hand. "OH yea ah forgot... ah ummm put it there. Didn't check there" Apple Bloom said running down the stairs, "Thanks for ya help." How am I going to get that picture Apple Bloom thought knowing her brother was hiding something else, since he was hiding the bills from her. She thought about what would happen if she lost the farm, and how many memories would be crushed. Not that she had a lot of good ones, she always worked or visited her Granny, and she didn't have any friends. Until now, I wonder how my new friends are she thought walking out of the barn. As if they read her thoughts the white unicorn and orange Pegasus came bounding up the road. "Hiya Apple Bloom, were off school today so we came to see you!" Sweetie Belle said. "Actually, we wanted to try getting our cutie marks, Sweetie Belle said it would be an awesome thing to start a club she was thinking of the-" Scootaloo started to say "CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS" Sweetie Belle yelled. "That is a a good name, ah'm fine with it" Apple Bloom said, "and I have an idea of we can first try to earn it in" Apple Bloom said. "Cutie mark crusader secret spies" they all yelled walking into the farm house on sweet apple acres. Apple Bloom told them there was a picture in her brothers desk and they had to retrieve it without being seen. So Sweetie Belle was on lookout, Scootaloo was agent and Apple Bloom was intelligence. Apple Bloom told Scoots where the key was and which drawer when they heard Sweetie Belle sound the alarm "Cock-a-doodle-doo." Scootallo and Apple Bloom hid in the cabinet Apple Bloom hid in before, while Sweetie Belle jumped in a bucket of apples. But it was just the mail pony who was collecting letters and putting them in the mailboxes. Scootaloo and Apple Bloom sprang out of the cabinet and opened up the desk compartment. Inside was a big scrapbook and a big family photo. Apple Bloom stared at the picture, from right to left was Granny smith holding Apple Bloom then Big Mac and next him was an orange pony with yellow hair and a big cowboy hat. "Who's that?" Apple Bloom whispered to herself. Apple Bloom flipped it over on the back was an address on Manehatten. Wait Manehatten, that could mean I have a rich family member, which means they could help save the farm! Apple Bloom thought, she copied down the address on her front left hoof. She put the photo back and locked the desk when she heard Sweetie Belle yell the alarm again. Apple Bloom didn't know what to do, until Scootaloo grabbed her and launched out the window. Unfortunately the pegasus couldn't fly so they both fell to the ground with a thud. Sweetie Belle ran over to them "You guys alright, was the mission a success" she asked looking at her flank which was still blank. Scoots got up and looked at hers blank also, Apple Bloom looked next, blank just like every one else. "Well I guess it didn't work" Scootaloo said sadly, "Sorry ya guys but ah have a... a... chores" Apple Bloom said running off to the barn. She left Scoots and Sweetie Belle standing there awkwardly. In Apple Bloom's room there were papers stacked upon papers. So many you couldn't even see Apple Bloom huddled in the middle writing. She had a feather and ink and was writing very quickly. After a while she took all of teh papers and put some of them in the mailbox (all that could fit) and some next to the mailbox. She plopped down on her bed hoping that this family member could help them. Everything will turn out alright Apple Bloom thought, Hopefully...
