"Hey guys, today's the end of the world!" "It's the end of the world as we know it..." "... And I feel fine." A collective laugh around the group. "Yup, it's going to be fun. I'm still betting on... aliens." He made a gesture that elicited chuckles from his companions. "I say zombies." "An overdose of Friday? It's Friday, Friday..." "... Totally." "...Yeah, we're going to wake up the next day and laugh it off for who knows how long. Shame. Would've solved all our world's problems too." "The world's not that bad." "Still isn't a bad way to go. Won't be here to worry about myself being dead. And I'm pretty content with my life. And if I'm content, then I honestly don't care if the world really ended." A few moments later... The credits rolled. <<+>> The credits rolled. The credits rolled. A cut to a view from space. Then the moon passed in front of the camera and made the transition to black. Then the credits rolled, for the last time. Also, as seemingly to toy with the audience, the same usual credits music played. As if nothing significant happened. "Lyra, you better wipe the screen of the TV when you're done." "NNOOOOO–" The aqua-colored unicorn lifted her head off the glass screen mid-scream. Once off the television, she was once again conscious to the other Ponyvillians behind her. "... When did I go up and start crying on the TV?" "Two seconds after the credits started rolling," Twilight replied. "I don't even know how you got there so fast. Look at it! What did you do?! Put your corneas on it?!" Lyra nodded as she sniffled. The lavender unicorn did a quick facehoof before sympathetically looking back at Lyra. "Well, I suppose we can't blame you. Twelve seasons is pretty impressive. But you should really get away the TV. And could you stop yelling so loud?" "And now it's done! I don't know how, but twenty-five episodes a season with the occasional shorter season, and each episode was always different!" Lyra exclaimed as she stepped down. "... So what did all of you think of it?" She turned to face the other ponies in the barn. It was a congregation of the town's worth of fans of the show My Little Humans. The show became quite popular, portraying a world that was in a much more turbulent state than theirs. It was interesting to see how the characters dealt with the world, not to mention the ones that even wrote their own stories on it. Vinyl Scratch in the back spoke up first. "It was all cool and all, but I definitely know what I'm doing later! I think I'll make a song out of that thing they were singing. Sounds like it could make for awesome lyrics." "We're all waiting patiently," Rainbow Dash smugly said from the front row. She hovered up in the air. "I mean, your last song Economy Crash was amazing! The bass dropped really good in that!" "So who thinks their world actually ended?" Twilight asked the audience. The ponies fell into their own separate conversations. "Ah, horseapples," Applejack said. "You heard all that about their world ending and how it was supposed to happen all those different times. No way, no how the Earth is going gone. I bet the creators never even considered making either way official." "They're just teasing the fans," Rarity added. "Leave it to our imaginations. Anything could happen now. Unless, of course, a writer actually says what really happened." "Ooh, ooh!" Lyra grinned. "Maybe if their world ends, they'll come to Equestria!" She received mixed expressions, from slight wonder to just plain blank. "Humans mass teleporting to Equestria? I think somepony has been reading a little too much from that category..." said Twilight. "It doesn't hurt to dream, Twilight..." Lyra grumbled. "... Despite some humans having the tendency to have some harsh attitudes." "Well what's to say that their rough edges couldn't be smoothened out?" Rarity inquired. "Maybe, maybe not," Twilight said. "What I do know will happen if that actually happened is that the Princesses would deal with it right away." "And I would have a huge party to set up!" Pinkie added. "Well I know that I wouldn't rule their world ending out. Who's to say that prophecies don't come true?" Rarity figured. "Nightmare Moon came back with us." "But their world doesn't work with magic. Prophecies like that would be implausible. Especially after predicting the end multiple times and failing," Twilight countered. "But there's also room for the impossible. Still, I wouldn't want their world to end anyhow. It's much too tragic." "Yeah, I think the universe was just bluffing," said Rainbow. "Besides, I still want to go there!" "Me too!" Lyra agreed. "In your dreams," said Rarity. "Besides, why would you want to go to such a dangerous place?" "It's also a really cool place!" said Rainbow. "What if they're just not being told that there's something comin'?" Applejack asked. "Mass panic wouldn't do any good." "I don't think an asteroid would be that easy to hide from the public," Twilight pointed out. "But who would want to believe the end of the world?" Applejack inquired. "Well what do you think Fluttershy?" "I think it would be kind of sad. I mean, they didn't even make it to their Christmas." "That's like us not making it to Hearth's Warming!" said Rarity. "Simply the worst. Possible. Thing!" "But I... umm... also wouldn't mind too much if their world actually ended," the yellow pegasus answered. Eyebrows raised. "... Why?" Rarity asked. "Well, like they said. If their world isn't doing that great, I mean, being put out of misery isn't necessarily a bad thing..." said Fluttershy, trailing away at the end. The others stared. Rainbow was the first to speak again. "Whoa. That... is pretty dark 'Shy. What about you Pinkie?" "Nah, their world's not going to end!" Pinkie laughed. "I mean, look at them laugh it off! You can't end a world with those kinds of people." "Are you sure?" "Yeah! Besides, if Earth was destroyed, the bronies wouldn't be able to watch the Applejack episode!" "What..." Applejack confusedly said. "Wait... come again?" Pinkie rubbed her chin. "Hmm... Too meta. Fine. But you know you don't want it to end because of that! Especially you!" she randomly yelled in a arbitrary direction. "Ohh," Lyra figured out. "Maybe it's like those stories where they watch us!" "If that was true, they'd have antics with Pinkie," Rainbow stated. "Oh you wouldn't believe half of it," Pinkie giggled. "I feel like I should be remembering something..." Twilight mused. "You should, Twilight! But the author disregarded that on purpose for more random! Because everything's better with only Pinkie Pie doing it!" explained the pink pony. Silence. "Right..." "Well," Twilight started, "if you think about it, their world really did end. Technically." "Huh?" questioned a couple of them. "The show ended. It's the finale. Therefore, there's no more official continuity. At least show-wise. So in that sense, since the show ended, 'poof'–their world has ended. I think it's a pretty funny way for the creators to end the series in fact, in a meta sort of way." "So, because the show ended and there's no more new episodes, they're just gone because of it?" Rainbow asked. Lyra perked up. "It doesn't have to be! There's still all the fans! They're not gone if we don't forget them. Right? All the art and the stories..." "In a sense, yes," Twilight answered. "With us leading the material, they can have continuity." "Then they'll live! If we keep them alive and don't forget about them, then they don't have to deal with an apocalypse! All we have to do is not leave them in the past. The humans will be saved!" "Until we forget about them?" "Never!"
