> Merge > by William w2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Prologue > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Prologue Equestria It is just the beginning of spring in Equestria and nopony could’ve guessed that two similar dimensions would change each other- forever. Twilight Sparkle was feverishly reading a book as sunrise crept in over the peach-colored horizon in a brilliant spectacle of Princess Celestias power. Her tree-house was cluttered with random books sporadically thrown all over the place. Her eyes widened like she just got confirmed of terrible news (which in fact she did). “Oh no! Oh no! Oh no!” Twilight was frantically pacing all throughout the room, with the clopping of her hooves making quite a racket. “SPIIIIIIIIKE….. SPIKE!!” Twilight called into the library, where Spike was supposed to be working to keep the library in a neat and orderly fashion (in fact he was sleeping at the moment). “SPIKE!” Twilight yelled in a warning tone. “Wha…” Spike awoke with a start and the grogginess of sleep still pulling him into its gentle caress. He blinked once more then headed into Twilights room. “What Twilight?” he asked grumpily, rubbing his eyes. “There you are Spike.” Twilight replied. “I need you to send a letter to the Princess, and hurry.” She said urgently. Spike then proceeded to pull a scroll from out of nowhere. “Ready whenever you are.” Spike replied curtly. “Ok, Spike this is going to be a long one, so get ready.” She paused to think. She nodded to say that she was ready to Spike, now fully awake, well at least, as much as he could be. “All right put this. 'THIS NOTE IS OF EXTREME IMPORTANCE AND MUST BE READ AT ONCE.' Here’s the note. ‘Dear Princess Celestia, I have to inform you if some dire news. On the next full moon there will be a convergence of another dimension similar to ours, and it will be catastrophic. The alignment of the solar system in another will be exactly the same as the one in ours. How I know of this is because of my extensive magic abilities. I have mastered my thirty-sixth trick- a third sight. My second sight was one of which I informed to you on my two-hundred and seventh letter. My third sight is one of a very cautious and careful procedure. I can see into any one dimension, but it takes extreme precaution, and a painful amount of focus to form the slightest vision of this other universe. The reason I haven’t informed you of this sooner is because I didn’t want to make you paranoid about something I found early on and wasn’t sure if I was correct. I have studied both of the solar alignments for weeks and up until now I’ve wanted to turn away, but now I must face the truth. Princess, our worlds will merge and there’s no way to stop it.’ Whew! Did you get that Spike?” She said in a deceivingly cheerful voice, despite what she had just said. The pale baby dragon looked much shaken at the letter he just wrote and replied in barely a whisper “Yea, I got it.” And with that Spike turned towards the window and opened it and blew a gentle stream of fire at the scroll and willed it to go to Celestia. Spike prayed to the goddesses that what he heard wasn’t true as he watched the ashes get blown away by the wind. > Chapter 1: The Noticing > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 1 Earth The Noticing It was night-fall, and the sky was illuminated, but not by stars. I haven’t seen those in a while. I moved to the city four years ago, when my mom’s job required that she work there or get laid off. At first it was kind of hard to get used to all the lights and noise, but eventually you get used to it. I live in a one story apartment, with two bedrooms. I have a perfect view of the sky from my window. Well, as much as I COULD see. For some odd reason it felt….tingly tonight. It was almost like a mix of electricity in the air and that feeling of when you’re home alone and you hear a noise in the hallway. I kind of had a feeling of trepidation because of, well, I honestly don’t know what. I guess I’m expecting something to happen. I’ve been having a hard time getting and staying asleep lately. That’s why I’m here, at my window. It helps me calm down. I keep having nightmares. It's been difficult trying to grow used to a completely new place. It's kind of like having a weird hallucination of a completely different world that's impossibly close. I have gotten some friends, though. They still are getting used to me being around, being the new kid and all. I have held back on my activities and music and stuff I have around them because I don't want them to find out about me. Its not like I'm a secretive person, just that I have a very BIG secret. As I'm sure most of you reading my story (considering that it actually gets out to you) that we share something in common. It should be easy to guess. Eyup, that's right I'm a brony. For those of you that don't know what that is, I'm pretty much a fan of My Little Pony. Yeah so what if I watch a show for younger kids, but I DON'T CARE! I like what I like and deal with it! Now that I got that cleared up, I can get back to what I was doing..uh...what was I doing? Oh, yeah! Sorry! Back to the story. So I was looking out my window and saw the moon. It would not have been a very big deal except that the moon was HUGE! WAY bigger than I remembered it. I guess it's because I haven't seen it very often lately. I can easily say that I am a reader. I read mostly sci-fi. I like that a simple story can change my mood. Its always a happy loo-da-day in the end. But if it wasn't, wouldn't it only remind us of our own problems? I guess I have a tendency to get off track sometimes. I walked back towards my bed to attempt to get some sleep. I saw the clock, it read 11:47. I have a bad habit of having to go to sleep at either a half or at one hour on the dime. It's major OCD for no reason. I got into bed and couldn't help think that the moon was so big tonight! It looked like it came about 20% closer to the earth, and it is on the day the moon would be closest to the earth. And to top it all off, it was a FULL moon! > Chapter 2: The Talk > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter Two Equestria The Talk Three weeks after Twilight sent the letter to Celestia of their impeding doom, she went to Twilight personally to hold her and comfort her. Twilight felt guilty to have had to break the news to her teacher, much less the goddess of the world. It made her very, very scared. Celestia had gone around Equestria informing mayors and all of the leaders in Equestria. She knew that this day was going to happen. Especially since her Mom and aunt clashed, causing a huge explosion, thus creating these worlds, but that is a story for another time. She sat there wondering why the world built around love and friendship had to be ended by a fragile wall preventing the worlds from crossing inter-dimensionally. It didn't seem fair! How could she have been put on this land with her sister to only not get along and waste most of our time on a punishment, and to have this kind of end! 'Woah, Celestia, think for a second. You don't need to be mad with something you can't control, no matter how life changing it is.' Celestia had started to taking to Twilight as to be her daughter. It's funny that she got letters from her and almost never sent one back. 'Reminds me of my childhood' Celestia thought to herself, with a slight chuckle and a memory of long ago. *. *. * Upstairs Twilight was crying. She couldn't handle the pressure of having all this weight being put on her shoulders! She should've never looked up ANYTHING about dimensions. 'It's all because I'm a stupid egghead!' she thought, or she thought she did. "Now Twilight, there's no need for thinking like that." the Princess said in an almost......motherly tone? Twilight stood there for a second before responding" But, Princess! There's ALL the reason why it's my fault! All I can ever do is get my hooves even deeper into a sandpit I can't get out of." "Twilight, don't go putting all this blame on yourself." the Princess said. "I KNOW that it's not my fault. It's just the fact that anytime I try to fix something, it just happens to get worse. I guess I'm just better off as a student. I know I wouldn't be much help as a teacher, with me always screwing up." Twilight said in a sad, but truthful manner. "Oh, Twilight, stop being so down in the dumps! You know that your Element is MAGIC, not honesty. You'd be an amazing teacher if you tried! Now, think about this. You have been writing letters to me for almost three years now, am I right? You would think that for a magical pony, you'd change some lives, and that is a VERY true statement. You have taught your best friends all about being friends and about how much friendship can play a part of everyponys life! Twilight! You've even taught ME! I'm over a thousand years old, and you taught me. That is some serious smarts you've got there." She said with a little bump to Twilight. "You are my faithful student, and I am your proud teacher. I look at you and see for myself what you've come from. Remember the time you had to lift those weights and hold them at the Academy?" Celestia asked with a sly smile on her face. Twilight let out a small laugh "Yeah, all those years. It's all happened so fast, hasn't it?" Celestia had a faraway look on her face. "You have no idea , Twilight." Twilight pondered that for a moment, then looked the Princess dead in the eye and said in a quiet, but serous tone ,"The merge happens tonight, you know that right?" "Yes, Twi,"she said with a tear in her eye,"I do." > Chapter 3: Merge > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 3 Earth Merge I was getting comfortable and the clock was a few seconds away from 12pm. I started to think about things to help me go to sleep. I thought about the moon and the stars. I thought about several things. I couldn't help but think about how much I wanted this world to be so much.....better. I wanted it to be more like Equestria. * * * "This is it" Twilight said. She was in her room with her friends and family. They were all siting in a circle and holding one another. It was the first for several to see the other cry for real. Some only just got the news a few hours ago from the Mayor. But either way, it was all too soon. Nopony really knew when it was gonna happen or what WAS gonna happen. They were all hoping that it just being a faze and it only lasts a short while, besides, who knew what dangers could be in an unknown dimension! They all went silent and just enjoyed the (hopefully not) last moments of peace they were certain to have for a while. * * * Meanwhile back on earth I was feeling VERY nervous for no reason. It was like tangible electricity in the air. I gave up trying to sleep and got up- that's when the earthquake happened. It wasn't a small rumble, either. It was like the earth was trying to let out a beast from the inside. Perhaps that was what it was. Everything was falling and shaking. I was terrified. There was a terrible sound of breaking glass and my windows caved in. I ran out of my room, well actually I stumbled out. It's hard trying to keep your balance when the floor is moving. It felt like walking on a wave. It felt calm almost, it was kind of.....exciting. I had tons of adrenaline in me so I couldn't think of anything to do but to get OUT. I certainly didn't want to be crushed by the building falling in on me. I could see the stairs and ran towards them, stumbling quite a bit. I saw the window and glanced outside, and was frozen by what I saw. It wasn't the city I saw, no flashing lights, oh none of that. In fact it wasn't even night! Hell, I couldn't even see the sky! All I saw was just pure.....white. Then I blacked out. I thought I was dead, but no, I could still feel pain. I thought was asleep, but no dreams are THIS real. I was feeling dizzy as the room started to mist up. Not the air, but quite literally the ROOM itself. It was.....it was.....impossible! The room, the walls, and me started to look fuzzy around the edges and kind of went away from another. The past thing that I saw of what I knew was the end of my life was a.....treehouse?! > Chapter 4: Over the Top > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 4 Equestria Over the top Everypony felt the earth shake and the ground shiver, but much milder than expected. They all waited a few miniutes more as the ground proceeded to heave up one last afterquake . "Now was that what all this darn fuss was about?! A little ol' earthquake?" A disgruntled Applejack said. "Just wait for a little longer, everypony, at least untill we know it is safe." Twilight said as the group was starting to move around. A few minutes later, Twilight wandered over to the window to take a peek outside. She fell back with a gasp and started to point her hoof at the window. Everypony slowly started to wander over, making sure to avoid the babbling pony. What the saw shocked them. It was a picture of nothing that blanketed the outskirts of the yard. It went on both ways forever, untill it went out of sight. It wasn't white nor black, it was just....nothing. "Hey, everypony, look! There's another pony lying in the grass out there!" Said a shocked, but controlled Applejack. Twilight immediately sat up, already recovering from her shock of seeing what she predicted to happen actually being there. She got up and went to the door and proceeded to open it. She gasped again and ran at full gallop at the figure lying on the grass near the wall of nothing. * * * I opened my eyes slowly. Geez! It was so bright! I brought up my hands to rub my..... What the fuck?! I tried to open my eyes more after feeling something hard knock against my face. I rubbed my face with my arm, trying to soothe the pain in my nose. Wait....something didn't quite feel right.... I bolted open my eyes fully as I saw what were (or was) my arms. They were a lot more circular than I remembered them. And a hell of a lot hairier! I followed my arm down to my....hand? It sure didn't look like a hand. Then I heard a gentle cough from behind me. I quickly turned my head to see the source of the noise. It was a....purple horse? What the hell?! She gave me a thoughtful look and got up and walked around me, studying every inch that she could see. "Where are you from?" She whispered quietly. "AAAAHHHH!!!" A scream emanated from my throat before I could stop it. "Woah! Calm down, calm down!" The purple horse thing said,"I'm not going to hurt you!" I slowly let the scream die down as I slowly started to calm down. I looked at the horse, trying to figure out why she sparked some bell in the back of my mind. "H-how c-can I unders-stand y-you?" I asked bewilderedly. "Oh, so you can speak! That's great!" It said non-sarcasticly. "Of c-course I can speak! How can I understand you I mean!" I asked, feeling panic start to slowly ebb away. "I don't know..." She said, slightly saddened. This was something she didn't have in her books. I looked at her and she looked at me. We were both wondering what the other was thinking. "Now, the easiest way we can get through this is if we talk through it. Itll make it harder on both of us if we ask questions to things we don't know where we're at in it." She suggested. "Alright, first question. Where am I?" I asked, slightly rushed. "You're in Equestria. This town your in is called-" "Ponyville." I interrupted in a calm voice. She was startled."Wait, how did you know that?" I was starting to come back from my shock."And your name is Twilight Sparkle!" "H-how could you possibly know these things?! I've never met, nor seen you around Ponyville before." She said very shakenly. "Oh no. Oooh noo." I said nervously. "What is it?" Twilight asked. "So what you're saying is that I am in Equestria, in Ponyville to be exact? And I'm being talked to by you, Twilight Sparkle." I said after a short pause. "Yes. You never did answer my question." She said. "And what is that?" I asked. "How do you know all this stuff?" She asked. I sat back for a second to think and then looked back at her. "Do you want to know?" She nodded."Alright, I'll tell you. It's gonna be a long story, though. > Chapter 5: Trading Stories > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was thinking about what to say to Twilight as she gave me an inquiring look. I took a breath."Alright. It started all about a year and a half ago. I was hanging out with my bro, Blade. He was one of my best friends back home. Well, one day I went over to his house to hang out and he showed me a video. I didn't really take it into consideration that that one decision would change me. He showed me a.....moving picture show, if that makes more sense. It was of a show called My Little Pony. I watched it and as I did he started to tell me what their names were. I was confused as to how he knew, so I watched an episode. I was instantly hooked. I watched all of the episodes. They are moving pictures too. The show told me of all of your adventures together and had a way of not making it necessarily descriminating as of being a show for specifically my gender. That's pretty much how I came to know everything about all of y'all." She sat down and thought for a miniute. "Hey, hey! You!" We looked over to see an extremely excited Pinkie Pie running at us. No, wait, not us. ME! She stopped mere inches in front of me, then started to rapid-fire questions at me."HiimPinkiePie! Iveneverseenyouaroundherebefore! HeyareyouarelativetoApplejack? Yourmanelooksalotlikehers!" I didn't quite know what to say to that. I tried to awnser as best as I could." Hey Pinkie, I'm William. No I'm not related to Applejack." "Oh, ok! Hey your name is weird. Do you mind if I call you Willy? I think that sounds a lot better than William." Man, Pinkie never ran out of words! "*ahem* Pinkie, could you please leave William alone? We need to talk." Twilight said "Okey dokie then!" The pink mare said as she trotted off. "Thanks Twilight." I said. "No problem, now, lets go meet the others!" She said as she waved her hoof in the direction of her house. I just shrugged and decided to follow along.
