> My Little Scootaloo > by SolidFerret > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Pandora's box > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- {Greetings Program's.} Thats what my reader's will be called. Kinda like how Slipknot fans are called Maggots. Hey, if this got front page you think Regidar will post crap on how he got here first. Naw this story isn't going to be on the front page. Anyways here is my next story. I do not own MLP. The stars were twinkling while the moon was glowing white, lighting the world for anypony that who needed to see. While someponies slept the night away, some were still going about there day. Some were visiting friends, a few were just finishing their work shift. It was a usual night in the city of Cloudsdale. In the quieting city, there was one mare that was going about her night like the rest of the ponies. But sometimes a little twist in faith is all it takes for someponies life to change. This is the story of how one simple box changed that mares life. Rainbow Dash was walking throughout the city of Cloudsdale. After a long day of clearing the weather, Rainbow Dash was ready to go home and un-wind. But the one thing Rainbow didn't like to come home to was nopony. She didn't like the feeling of coming home to an empty house. It wasn't like she was looking for a lover or any-thing like that she wanted somepony to be there so it isn't so boring anymore. "Ugh what was up with the clouds today?" Dash complained outloud to nopony in particular. A lot of clouds had 'gone astray' and Rainbow and a few other weather pegasi had to clear them. Even she couldn't clear the clouds in ten seconds flat like she said she can. Dash was almost home when she stopped and her ears perked up."What the hay is that?" she whispered out loud She thought she heard what sounded like crying. She wasn't one to go solve a parent problem but the fact that is was already dark out and she didn't see anypony around made her very suspicious. She took off running to the source. She could tell the source was inside of something since it was muffled. She was grateful that she could even hear it. Rainbow Dash soon found a box in the middle of an alley way. She could tell the crying was coming from the box. Opening the box and peeking inside she saw a toddler wailing around while bawling. The baby had an orange pelt with a purple mane. She looked and saw other things in the box. There was a toy stuffed monkey, a blanket, and an envelope. She reached for the envelope and opened it. To whoever finds this, Please take care of my daughter. I could have taken care of her if it weren't for reasons I'd rather not say. Her name is Scootaloo. When she becomes of age I want you to tell her that her mother loves her very much and that if there was another way then I would have raised her myself. Tell her that I'm sorry for this and hopefully she'll forgive me. Rainbow Dash could see tear marks on the page. Even she felt a tug in her heart while reading the letter. She looked down to the crying infant. Rainbow hasn't had a lot of experiences with babies other than Applejack and Rarity's little sisters. She could ask them about babies tomorrow but then again they were sisters, not a mother. Although Applejack has to take care of Applebloom like a mother since her parents were gone. She could help her a lot. "Hey don't worry squirt" She said taking the toddler in her hooves. She grabbed the monkey toy and gave it to her. Scootaloo grabbed it and hugged the toy close to hopefully get warmth from it. Dash then picked up the blanket and wrapped it round the filly. The filly snuggled in the blanket. Rainbow Dash's heart nearly exploded.* Reaching her home Rainbow was having a hard time wrapping her head around the thought of becoming a mother. She laid in bed stressing out about this. A moment ago she was wishing for somepony to be there for her. Now she was really hoping that she could find a way out of this. She couldn't just put her back in the box. What kinda mare would she be to re-abandon a baby. That's when a small, squeaky voice called to her. "Mama." Scootaloo said to her she looked at her with her eyes gleaming. Thats when Dash realized that what she had to do. Mother or not, she had to raise this filly as if she was her own. But to do so, she was gonna need diapers and baby milk. Glancing towards the clock, 'It couldn't be to late. It is an emergency.' She picked up Scootaloo and flew out of her house. In the sky she knew where she needed to go at such short notice. As Rainbow was flying she was afraid that the filly would cry at the thought of being so high in the air. To her surprise, the toddler seemed to be enjoying the flight with her giggling and smiling. "You're just like me when I was your age kid." Dash said over the wind of her wings flapping. The filly babbled more noises while looking at Rainbow dash. Soon Rainbow Dash touched down at her destination, Sweet Apple Acres. Scootaloo was clapping her hooves and laughing while making more baby noises. Rainbow was hoping that somepony would be home to help her with Scootaloo. She walked over to the house of the Apple family and knocked on the door. The lights were on so somepony was still awake. Shortly after knocking on the door, Dash could hear Applejacks' dog barking. "Quiet Wionna. Not everypony at the door is goin to hurt us." Applejack opened the door to see Rainbow Dash standing there with a toddler in her hooves. "W..W....w...Rainbow, why do you have a filly with you?" "Applejack I need your help with her." Rainbow said desperately. Applejack let Dash into her into the house. Rainbow looked around and saw that the house seemed empty. She was glad since she just wanted to talk to AJ alone. "Now to tell me why you have a filly." Applejack said as she sat down on the couch. "Okay so I was on my way home from weather patrol when I heard crying. I followed the noice until I came across a box with Scootaloo, a stuffed toy, a blanket and a note, telling me to raise her." "Her name is Scootaloo?" "Yeah it said so in the note." "So why are you here then?" "I need some baby things for tonight." "What kind of things?" "Some diapers and milk and bottles." Dash said nervously. She never thought she would have to say those words to a close friend like Applejack. "Well sure Rainbow. I'd be glad to help you out." Applejack said as she began to get a bag of supplies to help Dash. She even taught Rainbow how to put on a diaper by putting one on Scootaloo. After thanking her and telling her that she would visit tomorrow. Dash cradled Scootaloo in her hooves and took to the sky. Arriving home she was already exhausted from work and now she had Scootaloo to raise. As she and Scootaloo laid in bed together Rainbow went through her thoughts again. Could she really raise a baby? Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard Scootaloo yawn and snuggled up to Dash. Rainbow Dash found her answer as she wrapped a wing around the toddler to keep her warmer. *This story is asking for a My Little Dashie reference. {A/N} Well hope you all enjoyed it. Was really wanting to wright something like this. Leave a comment and a like if you found this story interesting. Again, I don't own My Little Pony. > The Best Day Ever! part 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- {A/N} Wow I didn't think I would get this much criticism on this story. Might as well clear it up. 1. Grammar mistakes were fix. Thanks for the heads up grammar police. Your the best 2. Yes it is a bit based off of MLD. But look at it as a legacy to what Dashes' father did for her, she did for Scootaloo. 3. It was rushed. It was nearly Midnight when I finished that chapter. Enough about me complaining about criticism for a crappy story. Next Chapter. As Rainbow Dash opened her eyes in the morning, She was greeted by a clear blue sky and a warm, radiant sun. It seemed as if the weather itself was trying to greet Scootaloo into a world of peace and harmony. She smiled at how lovely at the day looked through the cloud window in her house. Getting up and stretching her limbs she looked down to see little Scoots still asleep. Rainbow got the term sleeping like a baby now that she saw Scootaloo in a peaceful slumber. She couldn't believe on how adorable she was. Up until now she thought babies were cute but she was never one for taking care of one. Now she can see why Applejack and Rarity adored their sisters. Dash kept a mental reminder to take back what she said about the times when they were nearly obsessing over their newborn sisters. Thats when she realized that she was going to have to introduce Scootaloo to the rest of her friends. She got excited by the thought of introducing her to them. Not sure whether to wake up Scootaloo or to let her sleep. Since the clock was dialed around eight. Rainbow dash decided that if she was gonna leave here, then she was gonna have to wake the infant to feed, bathe and if it happened, change her. "Scootaloo." Rainbow put a hoof on her and began to pet her softly while whispering in her ear. When she spoke she could see the little Pegasuses wings flutter to life. Scootaloo remained asleep. "Come on Scootaloo. It's time to wake up." She spoke a bit louder now. She saw the wings buzz like a bee's wings. She saw Scootaloos' eye lids open and her bright purple eyes looked around until she saw Dash looming over her. Scootaloo greeted her with her babbles and the word "Mama." Scootaloo began to crawl around before Rainbow Dash picked her up and held her in her hooves as she fetcheed some formula milk that Applejack gave her last night. "How long do I heat it for again?" She thought out loud. She remembered hearing to heat for around two minutes. Thinking that was probably the reasonable time, she put the bottle in the microwave and waited. After a bit of waiting, Rainbow Dash got the bottle. 'How do you check temperature again?' She remembered Applejack checking it with her hoof. Rainbow pressed the bottle to her hoof and squeezed out some milk. "DAW!" She yelped out in pain as the milk burned her. Scootaloo found humor in Dash's pain and was laughing while clapping hooves together. "Wouldn't be so funny if it happened to you now would it?" Rainbow grumbled as she screwed the cap off and began to blow on the milk to cool it down. After a minute she tested it again, "About 20 percent cooler. Perfect." She hovered over to Scootaloo with her wings and picked her up. Cradling her with one hoof and feeding with the bottle in the other, Scootaloo began gulping down milk. "Geez kid slow down there." Dash said to her. She'd hate for her to get a tummy ache. She pulled the bottle out of Scootaloo's mouth after a while. Scootaloo began to look like she was trying to force something out herself. Rainbow picked her up and began to pat her on the back until she heard a burp. Before she put Scootaloo down, she smelled the dreaded smell every first time parent hates the smell of. "Oh boy" Dash said out loud. Rainbow Dash laid Scootaloo out on the table. She hovered over her with her wings and used her hooves to remove her diaper. Rainbow's mother used to say that she was thankful for her wings so she wouldn't have to use her mouth when she changed Dash when she was a baby. After the powdering and changing, Scootaloo was changed. Scootaloo was still giggling from Rainbow Dash when she changed her since she saw misfortune to her. "Oh so you think that was funny huh?" She asked the giggling toddler. Scootaloo kept laughing as if Rainbow hadn't said anything. "You know what I find funny?" Before Scootaloo could babble out an answer, Dash had dug her hooves into the babies sides. Scootaloo squealed out with laughter as Rainbow tickled her. After a few seconds she stopped to let Scootaloo relax for a bit. The infant crawled over to her mother and hugged her. Rainbow Dash put a wing around her and pulled her closer. After a morning of fun, Rainbow flew out of her house while carrying Scootaloo and flew off into her destination. Ponyville. On the way Rainbow kept thinking on how her friends would react? She had a thought that Applejack might have told them by now but that wouldn't matter as long as her friends greeted Scootaloo with open arms. First stop was Fluttershy's place. Dash knew that if there was one pony who would be the most excited out of all her friends, it would be her. Landing just outside the entrance to her cottage. As Rainbow dash carried Scootaloo on her back, the toddler became amazed by the all the animals that lived in the cottage. Rainbow got up to the door and knocked while saying "Hey Flutters. It's me. There somepony with me you're gonna want to meet." Dash probably should have worded that last part better. Fluttershy has been known for being the most quiet of her friends but she didn't want to say that it was a baby she adopted from a cardboard box. The door slowly creaked open. Fluttershy stared from behind her mane as she peaked outside. "Hello there Rainbow Dash. Uhm where is this pony I was supposed to meet?" Instead of talking, Rainbow Dash lowered her body and head to present Scootaloo. She heard Fluttershy gasp and she felt the weight off her shoulders and she stood up and Rainbow saw Fluttershy holding up Scootaloo. "Whats it's name?" "It's a she. Her name is Scootaloo." "Where did you find her." It didn't take a brain to know that it wasn't Rainbow Dash's child. "She was abandoned by her mother. I found her last night in a box." Dash said sadly. "Oh my the poor thing." She said while taking her inside. Rainbow followed her inside. It seemed as if any small woodland creature that could fit into Fluttershy's house had come to see Scootaloo. "Now now everybody. We don't want to scare her." Fluttershy addressed her animals. Scootaloo seemed intrested in the animals and was reaching out to pet some of them. "Oh come on Fluttershy. Let her pet one of them." Rainbow said slightly annoyed. "Are you sure?" "Yes I'm sure." "Okay then." She placed Scootaloo down. The animals all walked up to her and Scootaloo began to play with all of them. Some of the animals brushing up against her while she petted other. When it came to Angel ,Fluttershy's pet rabbit, Scootaloo played with her ears. "See Fluttershy. Nothing to worry about." After a few minutes of Scootaloo playing with the animals. Rainbow Dash decided to go introduce Scootaloo to the rest of her friends. "Wait, before you leave to go home at the end of the day, come back here and I will give you some baby food." "You make baby food?" "Of course Rainbow. I'm alway prepared for any kind of diet emergency." "Alrighty then. See you later." She waved. Scootaloo waved back impersonating what Rainbow Dash was doing without knowing what it actually meant. > Best Day Ever! part 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Need to stop staying up late to finish these chapters. Next Chapter. After leaving Fluttershy's, Rainbow Dash carried Scootaloo on her back. She already knew her next stop before she even left for Fluttershy's. Going into town, everypony was going about there day. From buying food to working in their shop or vendor. Ponies began to look at Rainbow Dash with a surprised expression on their face. Usually, Rainbow would fawn over the attention she was getting, but with Scootaloo on her back she was instead feeling the a bit awkward. Most of the ponies probably had so many questions going through their minds. The usual 'How did she get that baby?' came to mind. But Dash was to busy in her thoughts to care about what they thought. After some time of walking through town, Rainbow Dash came upon the front door of Carousel Boutique. Scootaloo had crawled around her back, played with her wings and now was on top of Rainbow Dash's head. Knocking on the door with her hoof, Rainbow called out to the pony behind the door. "Oh Rarity. There is some pony I want to introduce you to." "Rainbow Dash, who could you possibly introduce me to that...could...?" Rarity's sentence came to a slow halt when she opened the door and saw an infant on Rainbow Dash's head. "Where... where did you get her?" Rarity was shocked. She never thought of Rainbow as a motherly figure. But here she was with a toddler on her head giggling and playing with her mane. "I found her last night in a box in a back alley in Cloudsdale." "Now who would do such a terrible thing?" "Her own mother was forced to abandon her." "That is terrible. That poor, poor mare." Rarity said. "She was lucky. Her baby nearly froze to death at night when I found her." "Oh I almost forgot, what is her name?" "Scootaloo." "Well Scootaloo" now addressing the baby. "Aren't you just the most adorable thing." Usually, Dash would roll her eyes at behavior like this. It was however, the fact that she was gonna have to get used to it now since it was her child. Walking in to the Boutique, Rainbow set Scootaloo on the ground. The little infant on the ground. Rarity already seemed to be planning to make her something. She made something for Sweetie Belle and Applebloom. "Oh Dash, you came at the wrong time. I have an order that I need to finish by today." "Oh sorry. I could come back." Rainbow apologized. "Oh nonsense. I was just having a short break with tea. Want some?" "No Thanks." Rarity tilted her head down towards Scootaloo and smiled. "Oh Rainbow she is soooo adorable." Rarity bent down (A/N Not over) to face Scootaloo. The toddler crawled over to the white unicorn mare. Rarity picked her up and cradled her in her hooves. "Oh she is just precious. Tell you what Dash, when I'm done with this order. I will stitch a blanket from the softest materials I can find for her." "Gee Rarity are you sure?" Rainbow was thinking that it may have been to much. "Nonsense. I did the same for Sweetie Belle and Applebloom when they were born." "Well if you insist." Dash finally agreed. "I would be glad to stitch something for this precious little thing." She snuggled her face into Scootaloo's cheek. The baby giggled on contact and her wings buzzed. "Well we better get going. Pinkie pie will surely want to meet her." "Well hopefully Pinkie won't be to... Pinkie." "I'm sure she'll be calm." Rarity could only give a look that said 'seriously?' "Maybe not." "Well see you later Rainbow." Scootaloo seemed to have hopped from Rarity's hooves and quickly scampered over to Dash. Using her teeth, she picked her up by the nape of her neck and placed her on her head again. "See ya around." Rarity stood there shocked. She couldn't believe that Scootaloo had returned to Rainbow Dash as if she had called her over. Rarity didn't believe that a baby could learn who to go to that fast. Stepping out of the boutique, Rainbow Dash quickly trotted over to Sugar Cube Corner. The walk wasn't to long since it was just around the corner. Rainbow Dash arrived there. As usual, Pinkie Pie was already bouncing around Rainbow. "HeyRainbowDashhowsitgoingwhatdoyouwant?" Pinkie stopped mid-air and slowly floated back to the ground with a look of shock on her face. By now, Dash had gotten used to shock from her friends. She really couldn't blame them. How often do friends show up with a baby that they found last night. "Can I, can I hold her?" Pinkie asked holding out her hooves. Rainbow took Scootaloo off her head and gave her to Pinkie to play with. Dash was very surprised. Pinkie isn't usually this calm and collective. Instead the bounce pink mare was making funny faces towards Scootaloo in order to get the baby to laugh. "OH MY GOSH! She is ADORABLE! What's her name?" "Scootaloo." "Where did you get her?" Rainbow Dash told her the story, On how when she found her abandoned on a cold night. By the end of the story Pinkie Pie was in tears. "Oh how could that happen to anypony?" She asked it tears. She held Scootaloo while bawling her eyes out at the story. Scootaloo only seemed to hug her. After Pinkie Pie finished crying her eyes out, She played around with Scootaloo as if she hadn't broken down to begin with. The pink mare made funny faces. All the while Scootaloo was giggling at the funny pony. "Oh my gosh Rainbow Dash." Pinkie said to her with Scootaloo on top of her head. "We need to go to Sweet Apple Acres to see Applejack. I'm sure little Scootaloo wants to meet Applebloom. I hear Sweetie Belle is over there now." "Relax Pinkie. Applejack already knows. I needed to get things from her last night. Plus, I wanna go see Twilight first." "Okee dokie loki." Pinkie bounced Steeping out of Sugar Cube Corner, the trio trotted down to the library. Scootaloo kept trying to eat Pinkies mane believing that it was cotton candy. Reaching the Library, Rainbow leaned over close so her head was next to Pinkies'. Scootaloo stopped chewing on her mane and crawled over to Dash's head. Pinkie only giggled in a 'oh you' fashion. "Hey Twilight. Get out here you need to meet Scootaloo." Rainbow Dash called to her. "Rainbow who's Scootaloo?" Twilight asked as she opened the door. She got her answer when she opened the door and saw the infant on top of Dash's head playing with her mane. Twilight was lost for words. Her mouth hung open. She invited them in and asked Rainbow to tell her how she got Scootaloo. Spike came in and saw asked the same thing. Dash sat down and began to tell the story. After the story was over, Twilight was nearly in tears about how she found Scootaloo. "That's awful. I feel so sorry for that poor mare." Twilight said as she wiped a tear away. "Cheer up Twi. She wanted somepony to raise her and I found her on my own." Rainbow Dash said. "I guess your right. Anyways, I hear Sweetie Belle is having a play date with Apple Bloom." "Yeah. We came to see if you wanted to come with us?" "Sure why not." Twilight agreed. Pinkie sprung up excited and declared, "Well hurry up you two. I wanna go see the other babies too." Without answering, the two mare and the baby got up and walked out the library. Spike followed out after them wanting to tag along as well. {A/N} Screw that authors note box. Took me a few days to write this. so hopefully you guys enjoyed it. I do not own My Little Pony. > Meeting the others. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Walking up to Sweet Apple Acres, the three grown mares were discussing Rainbow Dash's "mother skills" while Spike played with Scootaloo between Twilights back and Rainbows' head. "Rainbow Dash I never saw you as a mother." Twilight said as they walked along the path. "Twilight I never planned on being a mother soon you know?" Rainbow responded at the unicorn mare. "Well maybe you could get married soon so you can have someone help you." Pinkie Pie suggested. "Yeah Pinkie. Let me get right on that." Dash replied sarcastically. Spike suddenly yelped out on pain. Turning their heads, Scootaloo had tried to pull on Spikes' tale real hard. The tale stretched until it snapped back and knocked Spike off of Twilights' back. "Maybe I could look into it." Rainbow Dash said, this time actually sounding like she gave interest. They finally got to the farm. Their eyes fell upon Applejack playing around with Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle. Looking up she saw the three mare, Dragon, and baby approaching the farm. "Howdy ya'll." She called to them. She stood up and trotted over to them. "Hey Applejack. I thought about introducing Scootaloo to Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle." Rainbow Dash said as she lowered Scootaloo to the ground. "Well shoot I was gonna see if Fluttershy could tell you about today but since ya'll are here." Applejack said to her happily. She was excited to see Scootaloo meet the others. Scootaloo crawled over to the other babies. Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle stopped what they were doing and looked at the newcomer. Scootaloo then stopped and sat on her flank and watched the two. Apple Bloom crawled over to her and began mumbling baby nonsense. Whatever she said, Scootaloo seemed to have understood what she was saying since she began to wave her hooves in the air for some reason. Apple Bloom then bopped her hoof on Scootaloo's nose. It was all day playing with the tiny toddlers. From trying to teach them their names, feeding them, letting them crawl all over a pony (the greatest form of anti-depressant), and even letting them sip non-alcoholic cider. Rainbow Dash had a permanent smile on her face. Twilight remembered the time she was this little and her brother did stuff like this at the park. Pinkie had been calm with the little ones despite her hyperactive nature. Applejack was used to this since she watched Sweetie Belle with Apple Bloom but she had even more fun with Scootaloo. Spike still had fun but the babies used his spines as a chew toy much to his dismay. The sun was setting by the time Rarity came for Sweetie Belle (who reminded Rainbow Dash about the blanket), Apple Bloom was ready for her nap, Spike was tired, and Rainbow Dash remembered that she needed to pick baby food from Fluttershy. "I think I need to get going." She said as Scootaloo yawned. "Well if you ever need a baby sitter-" "Or another." Pinkie interrupted as she was leaving. "You could always leave her here." Applejack finished. "I think I'll do that if there is clear skies scheduled." Rainbow said as she picked up Scootaloo and put her on her back. "Welp see ya round Dash." Applejack said as Rainbow lifted off the ground. Before she could take off, Applejack called to Dash in a panic. "Rainbow! Scootaloo might fall off on your back!" "Relax Applejack. Scootaloo knows to hold on tight." She reassured. Before Applejack could protest, Dash took off into the orange sky. Rainbow Dash flew with the wind blowing through her mane. She could feel her mane become flat. It didn't take anypony who saw Scootaloo to realize that she was snuggling into her mane. Quickly arriving at Fluttershys' Rainbow Dash simply wanted to get the food and go. But Fluttershy had to teach about how to feed a baby with the 'here comes the choo choo train' trick. After the demo, Scootaloo was already fed. Rainbow Dash quickly collected the food, put Scootaloo on her back and took off. Arriving at her home, Rainbow Dash let Scootaloo out of her mane and onto the floor. She smelled a scent of spice coming from Scootaloo. "Bath Time." Rainbow Dash turned the nozzles off on the bath tub and mixed the cold and warm water around to make sure it was evenly heated. Adding more cold water to make it twenty percent cooler, she called to Scootaloo for her bath. Scootaloo crawled in with a confused look on her face. Rainbow Dash bent down and leaned her head towards Scootaloo. Sniffing, she could still smell the scent of rainbows on her. Picking her up and placing her into the bath tub, Rainbow watched as Scootaloo began to splash around and play. After a while, Rainbow began to wash her coat and mane to wash out the rainbow scent. Dash kept wiping away shampoo to make sure none of it would get in Scootaloos' eyes. After washing and rinsing her, Rainbow Dash pulled her out of the tub. Naturally,Scootaloo began to shake herself dry. Her wings kept on buzzing after she was finished. Her coat was fluffy and water droplets covered the mirror. Rainbow didn't bother with a towel. Pegasi were known for drying themselves off naturally. Dash picked her up and carried her out to the living room. Rainbow Dash held Scootaloo and rocked her back and forth. Scootaloo was climbing up to get closer to her head. "Mama." Rainbow Dash's heart fluttered at that word. She always found it adorable when Scootaloo spoke. But being called mama was a different thing for her. It let her know that she had somepony in her life. Somepony who would always depend on her. Somepony for her to love. Rainbow Dash held Scootaloo against her. Leaning down, she kissed her on the forehead. Scootaloo snuggled closer and her wings buzzed. She then leaned closer as Scootaloo was closing her eyes and whispered into her tiny ear. "Daughter." {A/N} I cannot stop listening to the new A Day to Remember song. Hope you all enjoyed. Leave a like, comment, Favorite, etc. I do not own My Little Pony > Hearths Warming Eve. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5 months later Rainbow Dash opened her eyes on a cold winter morning. Lifting her wing, she saw Scootaloo sleeping. Clutching a stuffed toy while wrapped in a blanket, she was breathing softly while dreaming of something since her wings kept buzzing like she was flying. Rainbow smiled at her. It has been five months since she found her. To this day she still refuses for a crib since she prefers giving the baby warmth. Dash was still grateful for all the support her friends gave her. She did feel the need to pay them bits for the things (despite several objections). Today was different. Today was a day about cherishing your loved ones and being friendly and positive. It was Hearths Warming Eve. Rainbow Dash looked outside and saw clouds above her house. Snow was falling from them and on to the ground. All of Ponyville was covered in a thick layer of snow. Ponies have already went outside to play with friends and family. From foals going out with cousins about Rainbows' age, to full grown ponies catching up with siblings and parents. Dash saw one mare with her baby foal that she recognized. Going back to her bed, she began to lightly shake Scootaloo awake. "Scoots wake up. It's snowing out wake up." Rainbow Dash said softly in her ear. Scootaloo hadn't seen snow yet. Since every Hearths Warming Eve the weather Peagusi schedule snow specifically, Rainbow knew that it would be the perfect day to bring Scootaloo and play in the snow. Scootaloo's wings buzzed as she raised her head and opened her eyes. She wiggled out of her blanket and began to shiver violently (A/N Before you happen look and see the tunnels all around me)*. Rainbow picked her up and wrapped her wings around the toddler to warm her. Scootaloo stopped shaking and looked up at her mother with wide, bright violet eyes and said, "Momma" she spoke. Scootaloo had learned to speak better now. She could attempt to speak in sentences after being taught daily by Dash. Rainbow Dash smiled and put her down. Scootaloo had become more energetic in the part months. She began to run jump around with her wings buzzing like she was trying to fly. Rainbow went to a drawer and opened it. Inside were some coats and hats for cold weather. She didn't need a coat but she grabbed a beanie for herself. She got a small coat and hat and turned to the hyperactive infant bouncing around her. 'She's been around Pinkie Pie to much' she thought to herself as Scootaloo jumped on her. Dash turned her attention to the jumping toddler and began to play with her. While she was pinning Scootaloo to the ground lightly so the baby wouldn't think that she was trying to hurt her. Rainbow managed to make Scootaloo think that she was playing, but instead she got her coat on and put a hat on her head. Scootaloo, by the time she realized what was happening, looked confused at the clothing that was put on her. They were made by Rarity in her colors. Orange for the coat and Purple for the hat. Dash simply put on a rainbow beanie and lowered herself so Scootaloo could climb on her back. Rainbow Dash walked out of her house and looked to see her friend hadn't moved to far from where she originally saw her. Spreading out her wings, she jumped and floated to the ground at the same speed as a snowflake. She landed on the ground near her friend and called to her. "Hey Derpy!" The mares' ears percked up at the sound of somepony calling her name. She turned around and smiled and waved at them both. Rainbow Dash began to trot over to her. "Hey Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo. Happy Hearths Warming Eve." "Thanks. To you both as well." She responded. A head popped out of the snow, getting Scootaloos' attention. Derpy bent her head down and picked her up and placed her in front of Rainbow. Dash picked Scootaloo off her back and placed her near the baby. "I've always wanted Dinky to meet Scootaloo." Derpy remembered the first time she saw Scootaloo. When she arrived at Rainbow Dashs' house and saw her, she thought she was at the wrong house. After Rainbow told her the story, Derpy had tears in her eyes. The two foal were already digging in the snow, making snow angels, slipping around ice. The two mares watched as the two were sliding around and gigling on the ice. "Wow. Foals really change your lives don't they." Dash said. "Yeah. I don't know where I would be without Dinky. She's the reason that I keep going in the morning." "The same goes for me too." After a few hours of playing with snow on the ice, Scootaloo decided to try to fly. In her take off attempt, her hooves slipt and she hit her head on the ice. Scootaloo began to sob, catching Rainbow Dash's attention. Rainbow Dash gasped and ran over to her. Being careful on the ice she picked her up with her hooves and hovered over the the snow. Derpy also grabbed Dinky before she could get hurt. Rainbow began to look where Scootaloo hit her head. She began to rub it but Scootaloo cried louder and tried pushing Dash's hoof away. Turning to the gray mare she said "Derpy I got to go." Derpy only nodded her head as Rainbow Dash flew off to her house. When she got there, she knew what to do. Scootaloo has hit her head before and this will probably not be the last. Rainbow picked up a piece of cloud from her house and made it into a pillow. She placed Scootaloo, who was by now sniffling, and placed the hurt side of her head on the cloud pillow. She carried her to bed with the pillow. She set her down and pulled the blanket over her. Before she could go get some milk for her she heard Scotaloo call to her. "Mommy." Dash turned around to see her daughter pointing at her stuffed monkey. Rainbow Dash went over and picked it up and gave it to her. Scootaloo took hold of it and snuggled it while closing her eyes. After giving her formula, Rainbow Dash crawled into bed as the moon rose up into the sky. Scootaloo had fallen asleep and was breathing lightly. Rainbow Dash leaned over and kissed Scootaloo on the forehead. "Goodnight my angel." She whispered in her ear. Scootaloos' wings buzzed at the sound of her mothers' voice. * The Saltwater Room by Owl City A/N Hope you guys enjoyed. I do not own My Little Pony. Happy Holidays. Seasons Greetings from Sol1dF3rr3t. > Babysitting. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "No please! Don't take her away!" "I'm sorry. I gotta." "But she's my daughter. You can't take her from me." "Rainbow Dash it's only until you get back from weather patrol." Rainbow Dash stood outside the house on Sweet Apple Acres holding Scootaloo close to her chest. Applejack was getting frustrated with her since she's acting like she will never see her daughter again. "Listen here. I know it's hard to be away from your baby but you don't have to worry about her. She's in good hooves." "I'm sorry Applejack but I haven't left her side since the day i found her." "I know how you feel but every parent and sister has to leave to do other things." Rainbow took a deep breath and held Scootaloo out to Applejack. Scootaloo looked back at her mother with a look asking 'what are you doing.' Applejack took hold of the infant and tried to restrain her as she reached out towards her mother. Dash had already calmed down and was ready to leave. Before she left she kissed Scootaloo on the forehead said goodbye. Scootaloo tried to reach out towards her but Applejack held her tighter and Rainbow took off into the sky. After bringing her in and setting her down near Apple bloom, Scootaloo began to sob madly. Applejack wasn't surprised and actually felt bad for the baby Pegasus. She knew that her mother hadn't left her since the day she found her. Apple Bloom crawled over to her and tried cheering her up the best she could. It involved presenting her toys, booping her nose again, giggling, and seeing if she was hungry. Apple Bloom got so tired of seeing Scootaloo crying that she started to cry. Applejack saw them and actually chuckled to herself. She picked the both of them up and set them on the table in the kitchen. She then got out two apples and sucked in a big breath. She turned away from the crying fillies and began work with the two apples. She turned around with the two apples in her nose. "Look girls I'm a walrus." She made walrus noises to go with her impersonation.* The two infants stopped crying and began laughing at Applejack and how silly she looked. Applejack had done this on many occasions to cheer up Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle. Rarity always said that Applejack better wash the apples when she was done. Applejack blew air through her nose, blowing out the apples. She looked back to the giggling toddlers and saw that they were already happy and were waiting to do something fun. They jumped off the table but before they could land Applejack caught them both. Setting them down, Applejack was having a hard time deciding on what to do. She wanted to take Sootaloos' mind off of her mother. The country mare gathered the two babies and put them on her back. She stepped out of the house and saw the blue sky with a few clouds lingering around. The air was cold causing the babies to shiver and use their short tails in an attempt to warm themselves. Applejack walked out to the farm. She opened the door and stepped in to get away from the cold air. The babies stopped shivering and looked around. While Apple Bloom was familiar with the barn, it was new to Scootaloo. She looked around with interest in the array of tools and hay. She laughed at the animals that they passed as they looked at her with confusion. Applejack raised herself up to a cart in the back of the barn. Apple Bloom instinctively climbed in while Scootaloo remained on Applejacks' back confused on what to do. Apple Bloom caught on and grabbed Scootaloo and pulled her into the cart. After the foals were in, Applejack hooked herself into the cart. She pulled it out of the barn and into the cold air outside. She didn't worry about the two in the back since there was hay in the back that would keep them warm. Applejack began to pull the cart at a fast but steady pace. The cart shook as the two fillies popped their heads out from the hay and looked around. They both saw the sights of Sweet Apple Acres. Apple Bloom was clapping her hooves in delight as since she loves riding in the cart. Scootaloo looked, smiling at the sight of nature in front of her. Applejack was working up a sweat from pulling the two fillies but she knew that the smiles on their faces were worth the effort. She pulled back into the barn and unhooked herself. The two foals were playing around in the back, (A/N giggidy) by throwing hay at each other. Applejack smiled at them as she picked them up and put them on her back. The foals were playing patty cake and giggling as Applejack went back to the house. When she got back she saw that it was past noon and that Rainbow Dash would be back soon. Meanwhile the two fillies were in the living room playing with toys. Applejack made them some formula and brought it out to both of them in the living room. They took the bottles and began to gulp down the milk since they haven't been fed since before Rainbow Dash came to drop Scootaloo off. After they finished and were burped, Applejack herself began to play with them. By now, the dynamic duo were full of energy and were jumping around running circles around Applejack. However Applejack had dealt with this before and was playfully pinning them down and tickling them. When one was pinned the other would try to save them. Applejack would let go of one of them and get the other. After a while of playful torture, Applejack decided that they should have their 'revenge' on her. "Alright you two got me" She said as she let the two climb on top of her stomach. That brought a tickling sensation as she began to giggle. "Careful you two. Ahm ticklish." Those words made Apple Bloom and Scootaloo began to walk around Applejacks stomach even more. The mare was laughing at the sensation and from the fun she was having. Scootaloo was laughing at the fun as well. But then she turned her head towards the windows that viewed the doorway. The curtains were covering it but Scootaloo could see a shadow move through it. Scootaloo was about to call it before a knocking was heard on the door.** Applejack got up and quickly answered it. Rainbow Dash stood there tired as if she flew here very fast. "You alright Sugarcube." "Yeah just out of breath." Rainbow responded. "Well come inside. Scootaloo has been waiting for ya since ya left." Applejack moved to let Rainbow in. Scootaloo was already there hugging her mothers hoof. "Welp guess ya better get goin. Say goodbye Applebloom." Apple Bloom could only get out a "bah bah'' and waved at Scootaloo and Dash. "Bah bah." Scootaloo waved back as she climbed up Rainbows' hoof and onto her back. Dash smiled and thanked Applejack and took off into the sky once more. * Apple.mov reference This chapter was based off of when I was babysat. ** Was something that I remember from those times when I looked towards the window and saw a shadow moving and i knew it was my mom. The Grand Finale. I'm gonna try my best to give you a feels montage. Final Chapter. Rainbow Dash stood outside of a school yard with tears in her eyes as she watched her daughter. As she watched her she thought back to when she let her little Scootaloo grow up. It had been a rough day. The delivery Pegasi brought Scootaloos' crib and assembled it for her. Rainbow knew that their job was done but know it was time for her job which was tougher than their job. She need to convince Scootaloo to sleep without the warmth and comfort of her mother. It was bed time and Dash had gotten the crib all made ready for her baby to sleep. The blanket was tucked back so it would be easier to tuck Scootaloo in. The monkey toy that was her favorite was there for her to hold while she slept. Now she needed to get her to sleep without fussing. Scootaloo had figured out that night time meant bed time. Rainbow found her sitting on the bed ready to go to sleep. She was oblivious to the crib in front of her. Instead she was focused on her mother. Dash simply went over and picked up Scootaloo. The infant snuggled in her mothers hold while unaware that she wouldn't be held for the rest of the night. Rainbow Dash put her in the crib and let her go. Scootaloo was confused. She wondered why her mother let her go and was walking away from her. Rainbow herself didn't want to do this but she had to. Her daughter couldn't grow believing that she had to share her bed with her mother. Scootaloo began to try to climb out of the crib to be with her mother but she was stopped by the one pony she wanted to be with the most. "No." Rainbow said as she fought back tears. "Listen to me sweetie. You're gonna have to sleep on your own for a while now. Mommy needs to be alone for tonight and you have to learn to sleep in your own if you want to be big and strong when you get older." Scootaloo knew what a few of those words meant. She began to cry as her mother turned off the lights and climbed in to her bed alone Even after an hour, Scootaloo hadn't stopped crying. Rainbow figured out by now that her baby thought that she didn't want her anymore. She got up and picked up her crying daughter. "Shh. It's okay. I'm not leaving you." "Mommy." "I will always be your mother. I'm not leaving you." Scootaloo seemed to realize that her mother wasn't at all trying to get rid of her. She wanted to hear if mommy still wanted to her to be with her. She closed her eyes after she stopped crying and fell asleep in Dash's hooves. It was two years later. Now Scootaloo had her own room and was sleeping like a big girl (foal) and only when she was sick, sleep by her mothers side. It was a quiet night. Rainbow Dash was sound asleep, dreaming of her flying with the wonderbolts. She stirred awake as she heard something in her room. "Soarin?" She said groggily. Thats when she looked down and saw Scootaloo curled up by her bed side, shaking and crying. "Hey what's wrong." "I had a nightmare. I was being taken away and they wouldn't let me see you again and you didn't care if they took me or not." Scootaloo sobbed in to her hooves as Rainbow picked her up in her hooves and held her daughter. She wasn't a baby anymore. She was gonna start school in a soon at the age of 4. Scootaloo wrapped her hooves around her mother and cried into her chest. "Mommy, you wouldn't let them do that would you?" "I would never." "Good. Cause I don't know what I would do without you?" she sobbed harder into her moms chest. "Here." Dash said scooting over. "Sleep by me tonight." Scootaloo got in her spot almost instantly and began to hold her mother. Rainbow Dash held her and whispered in her ear. " And if those people come back in your dreams? Wake up and I'll be here to protect you." Rainbow Dash knew it was time. The time to tell Scootaloo the truth about her real mother. After four years of raising her, she knew that her daughter had to find out about how she found her. "Scootaloo." she called as she saw her daughter walking towards the living room. "Yeah mom?" "Sit down. I need to tell you something." "Did I do something bad?" "No but I have to tell you this now or else you may think differently of me if I tell you later." She took a deep breath and looked her daughter in the eyes. "You're adopted." Scootaloos' jaw dropped at those words. Rainbow began to cry at Scootaloos' shocked expression. "But listen to me. When I found you in a back alley in a box. Your mother wanted somepony to take care of you. I took you without a clue in the world to make sure you wouldn't freeze to death on that night." She stopped to take a breath. "If your mad at me for whatever reason then I don't blame you." Scootaloo had tears on her cheeks by the time Dash finished talking. Instead of doing what her mother thought she would do, she ran up to her mother and hugged her like her life depended on it. "I...I thought you would be mad." Scootaloo looked up at her and said, "Why would I be mad? The fact that you raised me as if I was one of your own even if you just found me makes me even more happier that you did it to make sure I was safe." Rainbow Dash hugged her back, "I will never stop loving you." "I won't either." Rainbow Dash had tears in her eyes. She was so caught up in her thoughts that she didn't notice her daughter running back to her." "Mom are you alright?" "I'm fine Scootaloo." "Why are you crying?" "I'm happy. I'm so happy for you." She hugged her daughter as the school bell rang. "Be good sweetie." She said as she kissed her forehead. "Bye mom. Love you." Rainbow Dash watched her daughter enter the school. She was happy for her. After five years of raising her, she had grown up. Rainbow knew that it wasn't over. It was a new chapter for her and her daughter. Dash heard hoof steps behind her. "Ya' did great Rainbow." Applejack said as she put a hoof around Dash. "Thanks Applejack." She said as she flew off. Meanwhile from a distance, a weak mare with a yellow body and a purple mane watched the rainbow colored maned Pegasus fly away into the sky. "If what I saw was what I think it was. Thank you."
