Through the Blood and Hate
As the two mares sat beside eachother, deep in a loving embrace, they thought back to what caused this, and how such a horrible bout of war could cause something so beautiful. "Oh, Twilight..." The white unicorn whispered, voice trembling with both joy and sorrow at the same time. "Rarity..." The latter replied, leaning her head onto her lover's shoulder. "You know, it's the anniversary tomorrow..." Rarity said, voice suddenly filled with pain.
"Yes, I know." Twilight answered.
She did indeed know the anniversary was soon. But not the anniversary of their relationship. No, it was the anniversary... Of the deaths of their friends, the 4 ponies who had done so much to help them with everything. The two unicorns could remember the day as though it was but a few hours before...

"Fluttershy, help!" Screamed the pained Rainbow Dash as her left wing was ripped off by one of the beasts.
"C-coming!" The cream-colored pegasus shouted. War was Hell. These 2 mares, as well as half of a million other ponies, were in the middle of an awful war. They were being slaughtered by the beasts, as they had no chance of survival. The creatures, known as Tigryers, were from a country of savages called Tergos. The beasts were intent on conquering, and they would murder and rape to do it. They would kill every last of the poor mares.
The ponies in this area in particular were facing the worst of the odds. They stood together in couples. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash tried to fly up and drop the beasts onto the ground from a hundred feet, though the cyan pegasus couldn't anymore. Applejack and Pinkie Pie stood together in the main infantry, being attacked by many more of the beasts, being on the front lines. And finally, we see Rarity and Twilight Sparkle. They worked together, using their magic to kill the monsters whatever way they could. It was only by their being so far away from the main onslaught that they had survived that long. The two unicorns would pick up the cretins and smash them against rocks, and yet more would come. They would impale long spikes of magic through the beasts, but still more would come.
Oh, if only Spike were there. He had finally matured just before the war started. Unfortunately, he was assassinated early on during the war. It was because of this that Twilight and Rarity were all alone. Finally, the 6 mares all gave up hope. Rainbow Dash clung bleeding to an oddly-brave Fluttershy. Pinkie Pie protected an unconsious, bleeding Applejack as more beasts attacked. And Twilight threw a magical force field around Rarity and her as the beasts surrounded them from all sides. "Rarity, since this is the end, I have to tell you something." Twilight began, sorrow in her voice. "Rarity, I... I've always loved you! From the moment I first saw you when I came to Ponyville, I thought you were so beautiful, and... I just, I loved you instantly!" Twilight began to cry with both sorrow and relief as she finished her sentence.
"Well then, I'd best be honest as well." Rarity replied, closing her eyes. "I... I have always been in love with you as well, Twilight! You seemed a bit odd when I first met you, but, I began to get to know you, and over these past few years... I've come to love you! And, I've just wanted to... Wrap my hooves around your beautiful neck and kiss you! I've always wanted to know you!" Twilight suddenly shuddered. She smiled at Rarity and came closer.
"Alright, then... Let's do it. Let's spend our last moments together." Suddenly, the lavendar mare made Rarity open her eyes. She took Rarity into her hooves and kissed her deeply, both blushing at the occurrence.
At first, Rarity pulled back, frightened, but then, she realized what was going on, and leaned into the kiss. As they kissed, Twilight felt the energies of their friends fade slowly, then disappear altogether.

The two mares walked slowly to the graveyard in the ruins of what was once the quaint little town of Ponyville. They stayed close together, nuzzling eachother as they made their way past the dead land. After about 2 hours of walking, they finally reached the four chamber mausoleum. "Oh... Those poor ponies..." Rarity whispered as tears came from her eyes. Before long, she closed her eyes and began weeping loudly. "Oh, Rarity," Twilight uttered calmly. "Don't cry. They're in a better place now.
Rarity nodded, but she still sobbed as she thought of their late friends. Twilight pulled the alabaster mare closer as she began to cry as well. Before long, they were both bawling on the ground, staining nearby headstones and graves with their tears. Before long, Rarity calmed herself and helped Twilight stand and calm down as well.
"Alright. Let's just... Stay here a while, Rarity. T-try not to c-cry..." They stood there for hours, calm and unmoving as statues. Several hours later, Rarity noticed that Twilight's eyes were drooping and she was trying to stay awake. So, Rarity took Twilight by the hoof, and they started back to their home.

"Th-they're dead." Twilight whispered. Rarity just looked between Twilight and the bodies of their friends. "THEY'RE DEAD!" Twilight repeated, furious. Suddenly, Twilight's eyes went empty, and a blindingly-bright violet aura surrounded her. Suddenly, the shield around the two mares disappeared, and the skulls of all the Tigryres within a 5 mile radius exploded. Dirt mixed with bits of brain and skull. Suddenly, Twilight fainted, falling to the ground with a thud before Rarity could catch her.
"Twilight?" She whispered, scared. "Twilight? TWILIGHT? TWILIGHT! TWILIGHT! TWIIIILIIIIGHT!" The alabaster mare just continued screaming her beloved's name, afraid the lavendar unicorn had run out of life force when she was using her magic. Rarity screamed until her throat was raw. When she couldn't scream anymore, she just wrapped her legs around Twilight in an embrace and kissed her seemingly-lifeless lips.

When the two lovers finally reached home, they quickly entered the large tree that served as so and went straight to bed. Twilight was exhausted, and Rarity was just a little bit more awake than the former. They just cuddled eachother as they swiftly fell to sleep, tears still in their eyes.

When the battle was over, the few living ponies remaining came over to Rarity and did what they could to see what was wrong with Twilight. Lyra tried to awaken her with magic, which failed. Bonbon snapped a specially made adrenaline stick candy in front of Twilight's nostrils, which also failed. Finally, Derpy even tried some of her shenanigans around the sleeping Twilight, also failing.
Ultimately, Rarity just thought of her beloved. She thought of all the moments, good and bad, that she and Twilight had shared together. Finally, she brought those images into physical viewing through her magic as she kissed Twilight upon the cheek. Before long, she moved to Twilight's lips, and she fully kissed the lavendar mare.
"Twilight," She whispered as she broke the kiss. "Please, wake up... WAKE UP! WAKE UP! YOU'RE ALL I HAVE LEFT! ALL OF OUR FRIENDS ARE DEAD, YOU'RE ALL I HAVE! MY OWN SISTER WAS KILLED BY THOSE BEASTS! PLEASE, DON'T LEAVE ME! WAKE UP, DAMN YOU!" Rarity cried as she yelled her plea, begging to know what was wrong. Finally, she was answered.
"Uhhhh...." Twilight groaned, disoriented. "R-Rarity? W-why are you crying? I'm ok now." Twilight sat up. "I know our friends are dead now, but I'm ok. Please... Stop crying. We've got to be brave. For our friends. Please, don't cry..."

The two just lay there, peacefully sleeping, when Rarity started to stir in her sleep, awaking her partner. "Nnh... Rarity? What's wrong?" She asked the sleeping form. Rarity continued to thrash about until Twilight woke her with a wince of pain when Rarity accidentally punched Twilight. "Oh, Twilight, dear, I'm so sorry!"
"I-it's alright... But, what was wrong? You were thrashing in your sleep." Rarity shivered a moment, then embraced her lover.
"Oh, Twilight," She started. "It's just... I had an awful dream! I-I dreamed that our friends hadn't been killed, but that they betrayed us! I dreamed... That they had ripped us apart and thrown us to the beasts that attacked Equestria."
Rarity began to cry, upsetted once more by the dream. Twilight continued to embrace her beloved Rarity, trying to comfort the weeping white unicorn.

Just a few hours after Rarity managed to awaken Twilight, the two of them were back in Twilight's home, the last standing building in all of Ponyville. They began to make love, wanting to comfort eachother after the loss of their friends. Twilight lay down upon the bed, and she kissed Rarity deeply. Twilight allowed her new lover to be the domimant one.
The white-furred mare began to kiss the lavendar mare all over her body. She started at the chest, eliciting slight gasps from Twilight.
The white unicorn continued to kiss the body of her marefriend, moving lower and lower, closer to her delicate marehood. As Twilight continued to try and calm her love, she whispered, "Rarity, it's alright. Don't cry, please!" Despite her greatest pleas, Rarity couldn't stop sobbing. "Stop, Rarity! I know the dream upset you, and I know you miss the others, but do you think they would be happy if they saw you crying like this? No, they'd be upset! You need to stop crying..." After a few moments, Rarity did stop.
The two of them embraced deeply, loving eachother. "Twilight..." Rarity said. "You make me feel so much better! I'm so glad that you felt the same feelings for me, all those years ago. I-I wish I had known sooner." In a final soft kiss, the two of them went to sleep together, not knowing what the future held, but hopeful.
