Cadence was walking through the fields of the school, as she usually does on her off periods. While she loved the scenery and told everyone that was the reason she did it, she had another reason. She did it to stalk watch the P.E. teacher, Shining Armor. She had just got there when he started giving his class instruction.

"Alright, I want you all to give me three laps around the track." The class groaned. "Oh come on, it isn't that bad. Tell you what, I'll run the laps with you. If anyone beats me you won't have to do this ever again. That fair?" Most of the class cheered, the rest questioning his motives, and they all walked over to the starting line. Shining, wanting to give the class a 'fair' chance, stayed at the back. "Alright class, three...two...one." He paused. "Go!"

Most of the class took off sprinting, the rest just walked. But Shining paced himself, he ran slowly until the last lap. then he kicked it into full gear. He soon made his way to the front. As he passed the finish line he laughed. He waited until the last student crossed the finish line five minutes later. "Are you guys done already? I hardly broke a sweat." He laughed. "Maybe it's because I was trained to do this."

A heavy set boy shouted behind him. "You tricked us!"

"That I did, it was fun though." He smiled. "Now come on, I don't want you all to stink up your next class." He lead the class back into the locker room.

Cadence was still watching as this happened, but now she was in the bushes, blushing at the thought of Shining Armor in the shower. Hot water dripping off of his tan, well tended skin. His bulging muscles glistening and his massive c-. Okay, we're stopping this now. She needed to get away from these very sexy thoughts for a while, maybe with a book. Yes, a book sounds like a wonderful idea. Cadence decided to go to the library and talk with her friend Twilight.

"Good morning Cadence." Twilight, the librarian, said cheerfully. "What brings you here so early?"

"Hello Twilight." Cadence smiled. "I just need a book to get my mind off some things."

"You saw him again, didn't you?" Cadence nodded. "When are you going to stop torturing yourself and ask him out?"

"Probably never. When I'm around him I just can't speak." She blushed and looked at the ground. "He's just so cute."

"What if I ask him for you?" Twilight suggested.

Cadence yelped. "No, don't do that! I'm perfectly fine with watching him from the bushes."

Just then the library doors burst open and in walked a brown haired man wearing a lab coat and goggles. "Uh, I'm sorry for intruding but," He turned to Twilight. "Ms. Sparkle, could you help me for a second? If it's not too much of a bother of course."

"Of course Event, what is it you need?"

"My students are supposed to be doing an experiment, but it requires a Bunsen burner." He blushed. "I hope you can see the problem here."

"Yes of course, we really need to get you over this fear of yours."

"I know, I've been trying to-" He glanced over at Cadence. "Oh, how rude of me. I don't believe we've met. Have we?" He extended his hand. "I'm Event Horizon. I would assume a woman as beautiful as yourself would be the new music teacher."

Cadence shook his hand. "I am, although I would hardly say I'm new, I've been here for a year now."

Event's eyes widened. "Oh? That explains why the mute bastard stopped visiting. Oh how I miss him." Event paused for a second, looking confused. "Ah yes, that's what I was doing." He left the library without another word.

Twilight sighed. "I better follow him."

"He's certainly..." Cadence paused, looking for the right word. "Eccentric. Does he do that a lot?"

"Unfortunately, yes. He's a brilliant man, but he's always so forgetful." Twilight rushed out the door, but she put her head back in a moment later. "Spike should be back in a little while, he'll be able to help you get a book."

Cadence took a seat and waited, and a little under a minute later another person arrived. He couldn't be any older than 17, his green hair was sticking up in all directions and he didn't seem happy about it and the purple jacket he was wearing was ripped in various places, mostly at the sleeves.

He sighed loudly. "Never again." He looked around the room until his eyes landed upon Cadence. "Oh, hello Ms. Cadenza. What're you doing here?"

"Twilight said she'd help me find a book, but she was called away by another teacher."

"Mr. Horizon?" Cadence nodded. "That explains it. He's always afraid of something in his classroom. Makes me wonder why he even teaches Science. I think he only does it to get a chance to talk to Twilight."

Cadence laughed. "He seems nice though, if a bit weird."

"He is on both accounts." Spike took off his damaged jacket and placed it on the librarian's desk.

"What happened?"

"I was delivering a few books to Ms. Fluttershy's room and she had a few dogs in the lab."

"Oh, ouch."

"I know. Anyway, what's this you said about books?"

"I just need to take my mind off a few things."

Spike smirked. "Oh? Have you been watching Coach Armor again?"

Cadence blushed. "Twilight told you?"

"No, you did. You were rambling in class and you mentioned him." Spike's smile widened. "You went into fine detail about how much you love him."

"And no one stopped me?" Cadence's face was bright red.

"They tried, you ignored them." Spike snickered. "Anyway, I asked Coach Armor what he thought of you and-"

"You did what?" Cadence covered her face with her hands. "Oh dear, he probably thinks I'm an idiot."

"Quite the contrary actually, he acted very flustered the moment I mentioned you, a complete 180 from his usual demeanor. I would go as far as to say that he acted lovestruck."

Cadence peeked through her fingers. "Really?"

"Really. I think you should go and talk to him. Who knows, maybe it will end in your favor."

Cadence sat there for a moment, thinking about what she should do. "But what if he rejects me?"

"Then he rejects you, that's all that could happen. It's not like the world will collapse on itself."

Cadence sighed. "I guess you're right." She stood up from her seat. "Thank you Spike, I should give you an A for this. I won't though."

Spike grinned. "You could at least give me some extra credit."

"If this works I'll give you all the extra credit you want."

"I'll be holding you on your word."

Cadence ran out of the library and to the gym.

Cadence nervously knocked on Shining Armor's door. "It's open!" Cadence opened the door and walked in.

Shining didn't look up from his paperwork. "What do you need?"

"I, uh, wanted to talk to you. If you aren't busy that is."

Shining jumped at the sound of her voice. "Ms. Cadenza! You should have said it was you. I'm sorry for speaking so rudely." Shining's face was slowly heating up. "What is it you wanted to talk about?"

Cadence's face had gotten bright red at this point. Like, ff0000 red. "Uh, it's not important. I'm sorry for interrupting you." She ran away, but in her haste she dropped a hair clip. Not a big loss but it gave Shining Armor a chance to follow Cadence.

"Ms. Cadenza, wait!" But she was gone. Shining looked at his paperwork once more before sighing and rushing after her.

"Cadence, it's not that bad. At least you talked to him. That's something, right?" Twilight tried to comfort Cadence.

"No, it's not. He thinks I'm an idiot now." Cadence was sobbing openly on the table.

"He'll still give you a chance. He thinks all of the girls he dates are idiots."

"Is that supposed to help?"

"I think so."

The library door was lightly opened. Shining Armor walked in slowly, deciding if and how he should go about this. As he walked up to the table the girls were sitting at Twilight backed up to let the two talk.

"I'll just go... alphabetize the arithmetic books." Twilight bolted to the science section of the library.

"Ms Cadenza, could we talk for a moment?" Shining sat down in the place Twilight was sitting. "Ms. Cadenza, no, Cadence, I have been sitting upon feelings for a while now and..." Shining stopped and took in a breath of air. "and...wouldyougoonadatewithme?"

Cadence looked up. "What?"

Shining swallowed audibly. "Would you go on a date with me?"

The room was silent, the two were both desperately waiting for an answer. Spike shouted from across the room. "Say yes!" The two jumped.

Cadence managed to stammer out. "Yes, I would love to go on a date with you."

Shining smiled. "It's settled then, how does tomorrow after school sound to you?"

"Wonderful. I'll be waiting."

Shining remembered what he was holding in his hand. "Oh, you dropped your hair clip while fleeing from my office."

"But, that's not my hair clip."

"Then, whose is it?

They both stared at you, the reader. How could you drop your hair clip at a time like that, so rude. I don't care if you don't own a hair clip, it's yours. Take responsibility for your actions.
