> The Gods' Chosen Hero in Equestria > by Mikoyose > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > An Evil King > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- An Evil King’s Return Link stood outside his tree house waiting for Ilia to return with Epona. She had taken her for a ride to go to see her friends in Hyrule Castle, one of them he had met before, Agitha. It had been two years since he fought Ganon and returned peace to Hyrule and the Twilight Realm, he was currently wearing the Hero's outfit given to him by the spirits of light. He sometimes wondered if Midna was doing alright and how well she is, being unable to even contact his friend. He breathed with a heavy sigh, it was late afternoon and Ilia should have been back by now. He hoped nothing bad happened to her. As he thought this he heard the distance noise of a galloping horse, he exited his home and climbed down the ladder to the ground. He stared in the direction of where she would appear. Epona entered from the direction of the forest and stopped by Link. “About time.” began Link as he went over to help Ilia down “Any later then I thought something might’ve hap….” His sentence was cut short when he saw her fall off Epona his eyes widened in shock. He ran to her and picked her up. She was in bad condition. Her face had cuts and bruises across it, the same was said about her limbs as well as Epona, the horse was scarred and panting hard. Ilia slowly lifted her head up a little enough to look Link in the eyes “He’s back.” was all she said as she fainted. Link’s blood went cold at those words. The one thing he hoped that would never happen had happened, Ganon's seal was somehow broken. He looked in all directions as if he would appear. He knew Zelda needed him to be at the castle but he would have to get the master sword before he fought for the royal family once more. Suddenly Link’s vision became black and he felt the ground before him begin to spin. The only solid mass he could feel was Ilia's unconscious body in his arms, her body was the only warmth he felt. “HAHAHAHA you think you have escaped me BOY!!” he heard Ganondorf’s voice in the darkness, “Your piece of the Tri-force WILL be mine but for now I cannot have you interfering with my plans for this land. I’ll keep you somewhere safe until I need you HAHAHAHAHA! Within my ancient prison!” the voice said as it continued to laugh. Link felt everything slowly slip away from him. His arms and legs stuck out to his side as he tried to struggle against Ganondorf’s power, the evil king's magic was too powerful. NO I need the sword. I need to defend my home! Link thought as he continued to struggle. Link felt the darkness contract, slowly crushing him as he struggled harder. Then suddenly he felt a warm feeling in his heart. He stopped struggling as the feeling spread across his body, somehow keeping Ganon's power at bay. He heard someone call out his name but he was oblivious to it. Suddenly he had felt his back was on a something. He opened his eye so they could adjust to the light in the room. “He’s so tall now” he heard someone say with elegance in their voice. It was a female’s voice as well Finally his eyes adjusted as he jumped back in shock. In front of him was a bunch of ponies. He fell to the floor and backed up against the wall. “Are you okay?” asked Twilight, a lavender unicorn mare with a dark purple mane, a single pink stripe streaking through it. “What sort of monsters are you?” Link said in shock at seeing the speaking equines. All of them looked at him with disbelief in their eyes, they shared the look before returning their gaze to him, it was filled with worry. “Link it’s us, your friends.” said Rarity, a white unicorn mare with a curly purple mane, a few shades lighter than Twilight's own. “I think I would remember having small talking horses as my friends.” exclaimed Link, eyeing the exit on the other side of the building he was in which was apparently a library, “Now what sort of tricks is Ganon up to?” he added, believing this to be a part of his dark magic. “What’s wrong with him Twi?” asked Rainbow Dash, a cyan blue pegasus, with a rainbow mane and tail. “I-I don’t know?” Twilight said with panic in her voice, “I think I did the spell wrong?” Link took the opportunity and began to run towards the door. Halfway there he fell to his knees as his head burst open in pain. “AHH” he screamed as he grabbed his head “What did you do to me?” They rushed to him and try to get close but Link would swat his hands at them when they approached. “It’s a side effect of the spell. Celestia said this might happen. It will pass though” said Twilight Finally Link couldn’t take it anymore and he passed out from the pain, and partly from shock. His last vision was the six ponies gathering around him, the lavender mare's horn glowed and a paper floated over. THE EVERFREE FOREST A small blue light traveled through the forest. Bobbing up and down trying to find its way out. Navi the fairy had been through forests before but this one felt weird, familiar yet not the same. “I wish Link was here.” she said to herself as she moved further on, stopping when she heard a twig snapping or the bushes rustling. “At least then I would know things would be okay.” the fairy muttered, beginning to become scared. (Well this is the first chapter, all credit goes to Bright_Star for making this, I posted it on my own profile because he asked me to and I did.) > Worlds away > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Worlds Away Link awoke with a rather big headache. He just had the craziest dream about Ganon returning and a bunch of colorful talking ponies. He kept his eyes closed for the moment so he could let the headache pass. He couldn’t wait to tell Ilia his crazy dream. “Do you think he’s awake?” said a rather tomboyish voice. Link’s eyes snapped open quick. He looked around and saw it was no dream. There seemed to be two more of the demon horses. These two being bigger than the other six. He jumped up and tried to grab his sword but he remembered he left his sword in his house back in Ordon. “What are you demons?” asked Link eyeing them cautiously “Link, calm down please.” came a familiar voice He looked to the direction of the voice and saw Princess Zelda; she was wearing her robes from the Twilight Crisis. “Princess” he said as he ran to her but when he tried to give her a hug he fell through her. He looked at her again and noticed she was transparent “Princess what is going on. Is this one of Ganon’s evil trick?” “No Link it is not. Actually this is quite the opposite of that?” Link stared at her with a puzzled look “Can you explain please?” “Of course but first there must be a few things to clear in the air” When she finished her sentence, her image flickered out of focus, “Ahh, this is an old spell I’m using and it’s taking a lot to use it and hide myself so let’s be quick” Everyone in the room nodded. “Now first I will tell you these are our friends. They will do you no harm and they will aide you on the upcoming quests you will be taking” Link nodded showing he understood. “Now Equestrians, this is not the Link you once knew. That Link has long since been dead” All the ponies in the room looked at Zelda in horror. “W…What?” asked a tearful Fluttershy “That’s impossible! I just sent him a message like three weeks ago!” said Twilight “Well that is true my student but your timelines do not run along at the same times.” Said Celestia giving a sad look at Twilight “When our worlds combine or cross...” said Luna “They will stay together for a short period. What was weeks for us was decades for them” All the ponies had tears in their eyes. Finding out a close friend of theirs had been dead for along time was something new to them. “Then what about him?” asked Applejack “He’s like the spitting image of Link. Hayseeds he even has the same name.” “That, I can answer.” spoke Zelda “It’s a tale as old as the Tri-force. Every so often there is a hero clad in green that comes forth and saves the world from evil. Always saving a member of the royal family with his courage. Every single one of those heroes are named Link. I don’t know if it is coincidence or destiny but he always prevails and proves himself. The Link you knew was his predecessor. The same with my ancestor” “So what you’re telling us is that when your land is in trouble these heroes always look the same. Sound the same and even act the same?” asked Twilight “Yes Twilight Sparkle” “But that is such a big burden on these heroes. Do they even know that they are the chosen one?” “No they do not. They find out during their quest. It’s a curse actually on the one who wields the Tri-force of Courage. It began with the original Link and Zelda who defeated a villain named Demise. With his dying breath he said his hatred would be reborn. The hatred eventually turned into Ganon who I assume you all know. This Link has proven himself by defeating Ganon a while ago.” “But Princess” Link said “How did he get out? I thought he would be gone for a long time” “Normally yes but it seemed something from this world seemed to have aided in his early escape” Zelda turned to Celestia and Luna “Has anything happen lately that could have done that?” All the Equestrians looked at each other “Yes” said Celestia “The only answer could be King Sombra” “Who is King Sombra?” asked Link “He was an evil unicorn king that spread fear amongst the crystal ponies but Princess Cadance banished him” explained Luna “When he was banished I’m guessing he found the soul of Ganon.” Zelda added. “But I killed Ganon. I saw him die before my very eyes, you did too” exclaimed Link “Well yes but his soul is another story. Remember Demise said his hatred would be reborn. If this King Sombra found Ganon’s soul he could easily feed him enough energy to give him a body back. Link stood horrified at this news “I need to stop him. I need to stop him NOW” “That is why I sent a distress to Twilight Sparkle. She felt the signal and thought their Link was in trouble. So she summoned you here.” “What must I do? Though without the master sword I might be in trouble” “Do not despair Link. After I end this message I am sending seven temples to this world. The final one containing the Master sword but first you must collect the energy of the sword from the other six.” “Shouldn’t I be able to just grab it from the pedestal though?” “Normally yes, but when I send the sword to this world it’s power will be split because the power of the sword is too much for me to send at once, you must prove you’re worthy again for this is a new world and the sword must recognize you as its master once more as well.” Link nodded at Zelda “I understand” he looked over to the Equestrians who were still in grieving over their friend “I know this must be hard for you but please, I need your help.” They stared at Link for a moment but they all gave him a smile “Of course.” replied Twilight, wiping a few tears away. Link looked back towards Zelda “This is gonna be hard without any of my equipment.” “Don’t worry I can send you your sword and shield plus a map of where the temples will be but that is all I can do. Anything else will drain my power and kill me.” “That is all I need, thank you Zelda.” Link bowed Zelda turned to Celestia and Luna. “I am sorry for this. I want you to know my people never wanted this” “It is okay. We all know that somethings are meant to happen. Nopony is to blame” remarked Celestia “Link, I will know when your task is complete and I will send for you.” with that she disappeared. Link looked towards his new friends hoping they would all be up to the task that was at hand.
