This is a non-profit work of fan fiction. My Little Pony © Hasbro. The school bell rang to signal the end of another day. An odd thing about this was how fast the bell was ringing; it sounded more like the bell of a firehouse. It quickly stopped as a wall-eyed pegasus dropped out of it. She shook her head, and then unfurled her wings and took of. The foals of Ponyville Elementary poured out the door into the front lawn of the school house and began to chatter and play with each other. Pipsqueak, the new colt who had just moved in from Trottingham, was accompanied by the other colts in his class, Snips, Snails and Feather Weight. "So, Pipsqueak," Snips said, "I heard you got to meet Princess Luna last night. What was it like?" "Where ya scared?" Snails asked. "Uh, a little," replied Pipsqueak, "But she's really neat, and pretty, too. She's the best princess ever!" "I saw you grab her mane," Feather Weight piped up, grinning at Pip. "Yeah, so?" Pip looked back af Feather. Feather scooted closer. "Tell us what it felt like." Pip looked between his friends. "What it felt like?" "Yeah," Snips added in, "Her mane is all crazy looking. It diesn't even look like hair!" "Yeah, and it's got those weird star things in it," said Snails. "Come on, tell us!" Feather Weight urged. The litle paint colt nervously shrank down. "I-it was nothing special. Really." "Oh, come on!" Feather chided, "If it was nothing special, then why are you hiding it?" "Yeah," Snails dragged, "Hurry up and spill it already." "Come on," Snips said excitedly as he bounced in place, "Was it all silky or did it feel like water?" "Or jelly?" Snails asked. "Tell us!" they all pressed. Pipsqueak gulped and thought back on the previous night. It was Nightmare Night, the last one Ponyville would ever see. Poor Pip's heart was broken at the thought of only having this special fun night once in his life. He set down his bag of candy at the base of Nightmare Moon's statue, not noticing the real Nightmare Moon standing in its place. "Goodbye Nightmare Night... forever." As he sadly trudged away, a sudden gale of wind kicked up around him. "Citizens! Your offering pleases us so much, that we may just eat it instead of eating YOU!" All the foals turned and saw the statue had come alive, and Nightmare Moon was now baring her fangs at them. Each foal turned and ran from the spectacle, then hid in the bushes. Pipsqueak peeked out, and saw Nightmare Moon had turned back into Princess Luna, and was now talking calmly with Twilight Sparkle. She couldn't be bad if Twilight was friends with her. Pip rallied up his courage and went to talk to her. He reached up his hoof and wrapped it around the tip of her flowing ethereal mane. That was when the connection was made. The first thing Pipsqueak noticed was everything had gone black. He was falling without any wind around him, only made aware of his motion by the few stars rising up and passing him by, soon followed by more and more. They started out white, but more colors were soon introduced. One tiny star came at his face, and he opened his mouth to catch it like a drop of rain. The star tasted like an hour wrapped in teal green. Pip licked his lips and mmed at the flavor, then flailed his legs in an effort to swim closer to more stars. His descent slowed as the density of the tiny orbs of light increased around him until he was swimming in a sea of colors and glowing, waving ribbons of light. An inverted rainbow cloud passed by him, emitting the soft, soothing melody of strawberry-flavored algebra. The bands of fruit logic tickled his belly as they went under him. He giggled and bounced off and swam towards the beckoning smell of a month above him. The ambient blackness around him blended into a more welcoming shade of midnight blue. Pipsqueak followed the light until the background became the shade of early dawn. He landed on a small planetoid covered entirely in lemon grass. He took a bite of it. It tasted like techno cinnamon and muave. Pip laughed and flopped on his back, doing a snow angel movement with his legs. The stars and streams above him danced in rythim with a pre-transcendentalist reform. Floating rocks burst into flame around him and joined the symphony of flavors. Pips coat crackled with static infrared vibrations as a stellar wind carressed his body. The song he smelled was crisp amd violent, yet he felt entirely at peace with himself. The peace was soon shattered as the lights began to move away from him. The beams converged on a single point. At the center of the nebula arose an enormous black hole that swallowed the lights and grew bigger with each one. Pipsqueak began to panic, and tried to run away from it, but instead of reaching the other side of his own sphere, it just rolled under his hooves. Then, everything was dark again. Pip felt his entire body being compressed into the tiniest space he'd ever been forced into, being pushed through it like tooth paste. The only thing he could see were his own red-tinted hooves. The light then increased as Pipsqueak saw two small lights approaching him. They lined up with his gaze and advanced towards him fasted than the speed of cherry cola. Just before impact, they stopped. Pipsqueak opened his eyes, not even realizing he'd flinched, and looked around. The pressure was gone, the ground under his hooves felt solid again, and standing before him was Princess Luna. She looked down on him, waiting for him to speak. "Yes, child?" Pipsqueak shook his head to clear it and then looked back at his friends. "Uh, it felt like... apple pie." The others exchanged glances and raised their eyebrows at Pip. "Apple pie?" Snails repeated. "Uh, yeah," Pip confirmed, "Apple pie, but really cold, and no crust." Snips and Snails just stared and blinked. Feather Weight shrugged. "Huh. I guess I was expecting something more... profound. Oh well." Pipsqueak chuckled. "Yeah. Silly, really." He bade his friends goodbye and ran home to do his homework, eager to get the image out of his mind as fast as possible.
