> Caramel Apples > by Derpy The Mailpony > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Hearts and Hooves Day > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 1: Hearts and Hooves Day For now, disregard the Romance tag. Feb. 13, 2013: Dear Diary, Twilight again, obviously, because it's MY diary, heh. Okay, tomorrow is hearts and hooves day, also the day known as 'The day Pinkie and AJ started hating each other!' day. It's been a WHOLE TWO YEARS since AJ found out that Pinkie was dating Caramel, who was, at the same time, her coltfriend! I mean, come on! Two mares at the same time! That's bad enough, but when one gets angry easily AND is one of the toughest mares in Equestria, geez. Well, after all 3 of them had a very rude argument, AJ an Pinkie started hating each other (Still don't know why though) and Caramel got his ass kicked my both AJ and Pinkie, and I think he's still afraid to go near them at this time of the year. AJ and Pinkie hate each other throughout the whole year, but during late February, it just gets worse. Last year, they had a very intense argument in the middle of Sugar Cube Corner, and then after a couple minutes, AJ punched Pinkie, and guess what? Yep, they started fighting. There was no clear winner though, which I find amusing since AJ is pretty much the strongest pony in Equestria and Pinkie is a pacifist, I think. Well, neither one of them came out a clear winner, but both just walked away after the fight was broken up by Big Macintosh. Still, I think they could have went on fighting for hours. Well, tomorrow is most likely going to be pretty much the same, but I hear that Pinkie has a new coltfriend, but I'm not sure who exactly. I'll find out soon though! And, tomorrow is Spike's 9th birthday! only nine years ago today I made his egg hatch, and also made him grom 15 times his size, and got my cutie mark. Well, for his birthday, I have LOTS of fun-nine-year-old stuff planned like cheesy party games and stupid party hats and, well, I should really stop writing, because 1) I'm getting tired from all the magic i'm using to write this and 2) It's pretty late. Until next time my diary! Sincerely, Twilight Sparkle Twilight finished writing in her diary and stuffed it back inside of a secret opening on the side of her bed that nopony knew about, hopefully. Twilight turned to look at the Clock next to her bed and noticed she should have went to sleep over an hour ago. 'Oh dear, I should be asleep right now!' Twilight thought to herself, turning off a little lamp also next to her bed. The lavender mare snuggled under her covers and slowly closed her eyes. RING RING RING RI- It was 6:00 am, and Twilight had just gotten out of bed, and shut off her alarm. She checked in the secret opening on the side of her bed to make sure her Diary hadn't moved or been read. She makes her way downstairs to change the calender she kept on the wall (the kind you ripped off a piece of paper that had a big number on it every day) and remembered that it was Hearts and Hooves Day. She never really thought about getting a coltfriend or even a friend that was a colt that was closer than just an acquaintance. She mainly, for that past 2 years now, thought about how Pinkie and AJ would be mad at each other. Twilight disregarded that thought for later and had a nice breakfast that consisted of a dandelion sandwich and a glass of orange juice. Once done with her breakfast, she walked towards her desk to start her daily organization, starting with her desk and ending with the alphabetizing of the books in the library, usually Spikes job though. She went through her desk, neatly putting quills and parchment in one drawer and books that needed reading in another. She always had a empty drawer that she hoped she could fill with love notes from a secret admirer or a very special somepony, but the day never came so far. Again, she repressed that thought for later and continued with the organizing. After organizing her desk, bedside table and her private collection of books that were to never be read or checked out by anypony but herself, she headed into town forgetting to wake up Spike to accompany her on her usual stroll through the market to get necessary supplies. It seemed as though she was always running out of ink and parchment around this time of the year, but she never put any thought into it. While walking through town, she decided to go and see Pinkie, not only to say hi but also a glimpse of who her very special somepony was. She was hoping it wasn't a member of the Apple family or one of AJ's ex's. Twilight was just about to step into the bakery in where Pinkie lived, when she was stopped by the very pony she had been looking for. Pinkie Pie had ran in front of her before she could enter. Twilight was going to ask but Pinkie just shushed her and slowly backed into the bakery. Bewildered, Twilight called to Pinkie Pie for some answers. "Pinkie, what was that all about? Can I come in? Hello?" Twilight received no answers, and was getting frustrated. "Pinkie, I know you're in there! You just walked in!" Twilight again called to the pink mysterious Earth-pony, but again, no replies. Twilight was about ready to just walk in when she heard a voice behind her that belonged inside the bakery. "Hi Twilight! Whatcha doin' here?" Pinkie Pie asked her befuddled lavender friend. Twilight slowly turned to see the exact same mare standing behind her as the one that walked into the bakery mere seconds ago. "How did- why... uh." Twilight was so confused that she couldn't properly make out sentences, Not only because Pinkie Pie seemed to have either crawled through a window or, although it seemed impossible, teleported behind her. Well, it didn't seem so impossible if you thought about it. 1) She was Pinkie Pie, the strange and most mysterious of all ponies in Ponyville. 2) She can tell the future by mere spasms of certain parts of her body. Twilight wasn't confused on only how she could sneak behind her, but also why she wasn't as angry or mad as usual near the end of February. "Hey Twilight, are you okay? You're not answering me. Hey! Are you listening to me at all?" Pinkie was starting to wonder of Twilight's behavior. but soon enough, which is only 2 seconds later, Twilight figured not to think about how Pinkie does anything. It's like a paradox, you think about it too much, your head explodes. "I- uh... yeah, i'm listening, it's just. I saw you walk into the bakery like, 8 seconds ago, and now you're standing behind me." Twilight explained what happened and what she saw, and Pinkie just said she didn't want her to see something, but as how she got behind her, she kept a secret. "So Pinkie, why aren't you angry today? It is the 2nd year anniversary of you and AJ being mad with each other, isn't it?" The pink delightful blob of joy nodded back to her not saying anything. Twilight was again questioning Pinkie Pie's actions but, again, didn't think about it because, she's Pinkie. "Okay, um... can I go into the bakery now?" Twilight asked the strange pink pony. "Oh, yeah you can go in!" Pinkie Pie replied happily. Twilight gave her a look of bewilderment and trotted into the bakery, with Pinkie hopping in behind her. "So, why are you here Twilight?" Pinkie asked her unicorn friend. Twilight walked up to the counter that Pinkie was already behind and looked her in the eyes. "I need to pick up that cake, remember, I placed an order for a-" "Chocolate single tiered ice cream cake with 9 candles, 3 green 3 red and 3 blue, and yellow writing that says 'Happy 9th B-Day Spike!' and you wanted it done by, 3 minutes and 14 seconds ago and it is!" Pinkie Pie finished Twilight's sentence before she could. Twilight gave Pinkie another look before taking the cake and walking out wondering how Pinkie does everything she does. *3 Hours Later* Twilight walks into her tree-house and sees that Spike had gotten up and started reading a book while waiting for his mentor to return. He looked up from his book, which was the second book of his favorite series, at the sound of the door opening and closing. "Welcome back Twi, why didn't you wake me up?" Spike asked Twilight while she was trying her best to conceal Spike's birthday cake. Twilight also had multiple bags from her shopping spree, in which she got more than the usual 'necessary supplies'. She also got Spike's birthday present and lots of other items necessary for Spike's birthday. "Oh, I didn't feel like waking you up because you stayed up late last night helping me with the library and other stuff." Twilight responded. "Oh, I thought it was because it was my birthday and you wanted me to be happy and not sleepy. Oh well, I still got to sleep in, hey, do you need help with any of that?" Spike asked Twilight. "What? Oh, no but thanks for asking Spike! But actually, can you take this and put it on my desk please?" Twilight asked Spike and he did as she asked. After she hid his birthday present and other birthday things, she needed to get rid of him to set everything up. So, she made something up. "Hey Spike, Rarity said she was going to need your help today" Twilight called to his name, and Spike showed up right as she said 'Rarity'. She already new what was going down. While shopping, she went to Carousel Boutique and asked Rarity to distract Spike for an hour or two while the others help set up the party. But sh e didn't think about it very much, as she had invited Pinkie and Applejack and she didn't know how those two were going to act. Hopefully they would be good because it's Spikes party, but maybe not. Sh decided it wasn't like them to ruin something like this twice. Last year, they came, they fought, and they practically destroyed the library. There were books on the ground and shredded wrapping paper everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE. it was in the toilet and in between books and somehow even on the underside of the balcony. Don't ask how, 'cause I don't know. "Spike's party is in, 1 hour and we don't even have the streamers set up! Where is that pink mare?" Twilight thought to herself, opening the door for Applejack who, like Pinkie, seemed much more calm than last year or the one before. "Howdy partner! Where's the birthday boy?" Applejack asked Twilight while she was still thinking to herself. "Oh, he's at Rarity's, remember?" Twilight suddenly remembered she hadn't let Applejack in on the whole thing. "Oh, I didn't tell you did I?" Twilight asked Applejack. "Tell me what?" Applejack stared and the purple unicorn in confusion when just a second later the door rang. "Better get that, I'll explain it to you later." Twilight galloped towards the doorway and when she opened it, there was a pink mare covered in yards, maybe even miles of multiple colored streamers. "Great, your here! Just set the streamers down on that table for now." "Okie Dokie Lokie!" Pinkie said joyfully and hopped to the table with other party supplies on it. "So Twilight, is Applejack here?" Twilight turned to look at Pinkie Pie and was going to say no but somepony interrupted her. "Yes I'm here sugarcube." Applejack went over to greet her previous arch-enemy... Sorry, I know you guys hate cliffhangers so I put one in the first chapter! There will only be like 3 or 4 chapters but each with like a couple thousand words. These will probably be updated bi-weekly because I'm working on another story at the same time, one I know everypony will love! Seeya next time! > The Party > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 2: Relationships and The Party You can now consider the Romance tag. Also, this is kind of a 1st person of Twilight, hence the having her as a character. Applejack walked toward her previous arch-enemy, a friendly smile on her face. Once she reached her destination, which was an inch or two in front of the crazy pink mare, she planted a kiss upon the cheek of her not so secret lover. Everypony stared in disbelief and their jaws dropped. Applejack and Pinkie Pie turned to look at them and Pinkie's smile faded. "Didn't you tell them?" Pinkie looked at the orange earth-pony for an answer and she received one. "Sorry sugarcube, I musta forgotten to tell 'em that we're together." Applejack turned to the other, which was Twilight and Fluttershy, whom had just arrived at the almost-ready party. "H-how long has... this been, ya know, going on?" Twilight uttered a question and again stared at the two mares in confusion. She awaited an answer from Applejack but Pinkie Pie butted in. "Oh, that's an easy one! It's been, let's see... I got it! 3 weeks, 4 days and, about 3 hours!" Pinkie burst into a smile. Then Twilight realized that they were wasting valuable time that was meant for setting up the party. The party was in 40 minutes now and time wasn't just going to bend for them. They had to get to work. "Uh, we need to get back to work with the party and you two should help. You can explain all of this later, maybe after the party when Spike's asleep. He won't understand it." Twilight directed them to the table with the streamers on it as a sign that they needed hung up. So the two mares trotted over to said table and started on the streamers while Twilight headed upstairs to get the presents she's been hiding from Spike. Twilight looked under her bed and saw that the presents that she hid there about a week ago were untouched. She slid them out from under them bed and put them into her mouth to carry them. She walked back downstairs and put the presents on the present table and started working furiously on making the party perfect. It was about 25 minutes later that the 5 mares ( Rainbow Dash had arrived late and ended up only setting the cake on a table ) completed the party. And, with a coupe minutes to spare. Spike was with Rarity and everypony knew that Rarity kept everything perfectly on time. So Rarity would most likely arrive the second the clock strikes 7:00. Twilight told everypony to hide and sh eput a note she made earlier on the door that said 'Doors open, come on in' on it so Spike wouldn't wonder why the house was unlocked. Twilight ran the party through her head on last time. 7:00, Spike arrives. 7:10, cake and ice cream. 7:20, presents. 7:35, games. 7:50, picture time. 8:00, we say goodnight to everypony. Perfect. It was 7:00 exactly and everypony knew that literally any second that door would open and Spike and Rarity would step through. "I hear hoofsteps" Fluttershy whispered into Twilights ear, and when she whispers, it can barely be audible. But, Twilight heard Fluttershy and the hoofsteps and prepared to jump out at a surprised little dragon. The sound of hoof against dirt road got louder until... "SURPRISE!!!" Spike had walked through the door with Rarity at his side. Spike looked astonished at the amazing party the 5 had put together. He ran as fast as his stubby legs could carry his towards Twilight and hugged her. "Wow, thanks Twilight!" Spike said. "Oh, don't thank me, thank everypony!" Twilight retreated from the tight hug she got from Spike and showed Spike the cake. "Whooah! That looks AMAZING! Is that me? It looks like I'm looking into a mirror! Did Pinkie do this herself?" Spike asked Twilight. "Yes she did!" Pinkie said in 3rd person. "And it only took 2 and a half hours!" Spike ran over to give Pinkie a hug. "You didn't have to do that for me really!" Spike said to the pink baker. "Oh but I did! We all wanted this to be the best party EVER! Also, I couldn't have done it without my Applejack!" Pinkie said kissing Applejack on the cheek. "Uh... are you two- whoa!" Spike was cut off when Rainbow Dash flew over and lifted him in the air. "Happy birthday dude!" Rainbow dash said setting him down on Twilight's back and stopping him from thinking about Applejack and Pinkie. Twilight had noticed it was 7:08 and decided it was time for cake and ice cream. "Alright Spike, what kind of cake or ice cream do you want? The left side is chocolate and the right is vanilla. Also there's chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and your favorite, Sapphire!" Twilight said to Spike who had started drooling on her shoulder. "I want chocolate cake and the sapphire ice cream! And can I have a little vanilla ice cream too?" Spike asked Twilight. Twilight used her magic to get his cake and ice cream in 3 seconds flat. "Does that answer your question?" Twilight said, handing him his cake with her magic. The rest of the party played out perfectly, and the look on Spike's face when Rarity gave him the fedora he's been wanting for years, priceless. And Fluttershy's gift was just plain astonishing. It turns out that she's an artist and she painted a life like portrait of Spike. My gift, a book series he's been asking for for a while. Rainbow got him a magical ring that let you walk on clouds so he could visit Cloudsdale anytime. Pinkie got him a shirt that says 'Sexy and I know it!' which she knew I wouldn't approve of. And Applejack gave him some kind of apple tree seed that grew over night and grew new apples every 10 days. She said she didn't need the extra work of harvesting apples every ten days or so, so she gave it to him. Then at 8:00 ehwn everypony was leaving, I told Pinkie and Applejack to stay. "Why do we need ta stay?" Applejack asked me. "First of all, you two are going to help me clean up. And second, we need to talk. Sorry for more cliffhangers. And sorry for having a short chapter. The rest will be as long as the first, trust me. > The Talk > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 3: The Talk Twilight Sparkle led Applejack and Pinkie Pie into the kitchen to have a talk with them. Once inside the room, Twilight started. "How did you two get together?" Twilight asked them, mainly Applejack. Applejack seen that she was looking at her and started talking. "Well, we've actually been dating for a LONG time! Even before you came here! But we just kept it secret and one day, I met a stallion I couldn't resist, Caramel. So I started dating him behind Pinkie's back." Pinkie Pie started to look angry at this part. "And Pinkie was doing the same thing! So, I was dating Caramel, who was dating Pinkie, who was dating me." Twilight seemed slightly confused at the concept, but she listened on. "So, once I saw him and Pinkie together on a date, I freaked out. I ran over to them and screamed something like 'How could ya do this to me!' or somthin'. So we all argued and eventually fought. Nopony came out a winner, but Caramel sure was a loser!" She said the last part with a smile, and Pinkie smiled at the memory of Caramel getting beat up by two girls. Pinkie Pie decided to tell the rest of the story. "So, after that, me and Applejack started hating each other. But, after a while, which was like 5 weeks ago, we decided that we couldn't stay mad at each other and BAM! We were dating again." Pinkie Pie smiled and kissed Applejack on the cheek. "Okay, next question. Can you keep it a little more secret, please? Because if Spike see's you two kissing he'll start asking everypony questions. Then I'll have to have a 'talk' with him. So, keep it secret around the young ponies, and Spike until they can understand." Twilight said to the two lovebirds, or love-ponies rather. Pinkie Pie and Applejack nodded in unison and waited for another question. "Um, is that all?" Applejack asked Twilight. "Huh, oh! Yeah, that's all I wanted to know." Twilight started to walk away but was stopped when Pinkie jumped in front of her. "Wait! Din't you want to hear how we got together in the first place?" Pinkie asked the lavender mare. "Hmm... maybe some other day Pinkie. I'm starting to get tired." Twilight responed and walked around the pink roadblock. "Um, Twi? How can ya be tired? It's not even 9:30." Applejack asked Twilight, but she was already in her room, getting under the covers of her bed. So, the two earth-ponies decided they should leave. "Okay Pinkie, let's go." Applejack said to her companion and started walking towards the doorway. Pinkie hopped close behind. 'Hmm, I wonder if Applejack would ever let me wear her hat?' Pinkie thought to herself. The two left the tree-house and wondered into the night. Soon after the door closed, if you listened closely, you could hear tiny footsteps leading towards a little basket with a blanket in it. Sorry for another short-ish chapter. I promise, the next will be as long, if not longer than the first! > Dear Diary... > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 4: Dear Diary... Authors Note: Sorry if it's been a while since I posted anything. I've been busy with life. :) Twilight Sparkle slid under her covers and fell asleep, or at least until she knew nopony was awake in her house. She pulled the diary out from the hole in her bed and got a quill and ink. She turned to the next page and lifted the feather quill with her magic and started writing. Dear Diary, It's me again! Twilight Sparkle just in case you didn't know. Well, remember how I said last time that Pinkie had a very special somepony? Well, she does and I know who it is! Little hint, I know who Applejack's is too. Yep! Pinkie Pie and Applejack are dating and, apparently, for a long time. So, Pinkie told me, or Applejack, I can't remember at the moment, said that they were dating even before I got here. And, like 2 years ago, when they found out about each other and Caramel... well, yeah that's when they broke up. But recently they got back together, and I think I'm happy for them. I know that mares weren't made to date other mares but... it doesn't seem so bad. I guess the same goes for 2 stallions but, that's not what we're talking about. So, Pinkie and Applejack seem like a great couple! I mean, yeah they have different interests but, they both are really nice and sweet (not just saying that 'cause Pinkie's a baker) and, it just seems, right? I don't know, I don't want to think about it too much. Next subject! Spike's party! It was wonderful! Only until pinkie and Applejack got all... ya know, romantic. I think Spike say them kiss or something because he looked at them funny. But, other than that it went flawlessly. How am I so good at planning stuff you ask? It's hereditary. My parents always organized my party's great and, organization just runs in the family. Also, I made a pretty funny joke! Like, remember when I said Rainbow Dash said Fluttershy was a tree? Well, I said that Fluttershy was acting rather, arboreal tonight! HA! *wipes tear from eye* I'm too funny. Well, that about sums up my day. Oh! I almost forgot. Fluttershy is holding an adoption service for some of her animals! Her house is crowded with bunnies, squirrels, birds, and other animals. I think I might get a bunny. Or maybe an oxpecker! No, I'm just going to show up. I don't need another wild animal (referring to Spike) in my house. Unitl next time, I bid thee, adiue. I always wanted to say that! Bye! Sincerely, Twilight Sparkle. Twilight closed her diary, and put away her ink and quill. She stuffed the diary back into the hole when she heard a noise coming from where Spike lay. She looked over and saw nothing unusual. She decided it was nothing and waved the thought away, closing her eyes and falling into a deep sleep. Sorry for more short chapters. I don't really have any spare time to do, well. Anything! I promise the upcoming chapter will be much longer. Till next time! > Curiosity Kill's the Dragon > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 5: Curiosity Kill's the Drogon Author's Note: I won't be uploading anything for a while, due to the fact that I'm starting my new youtube channel! For more info about it, read my journal entry (when it's up) called 'My Youtube Channel.' Also, this chapter contains some comedy elements in it. Without further adieu... Spike had heard everything. Twilight's 'little talk' ran through his head at night from beginning to end, over and over. He got so curious that he HAD to do something. Maybe Twilight has a book on, umm... Spike thought to himself, trying to remember a word Rainbow Dash said to him a week or so ago. 'Was it, lasben? No. Lessi? Nope. Hmm, I know it started with... Lesbian! That was it! We were walking in a park talking about, something, and I stopped when I saw two mare's holding hoofs and kissing on a bench. Rainbow said they were 'Lesbian'. Spike thought in his sleep. He decided that when he woke up he would, if Twilight's not home, look for a book that related to Lesbian in some way. For now, he focused on sleeping. 10:00 am. Spike woke up to the beeping of his alarm clock. Today was his day off. Even though this wasn't really a job, he still occasionally got days off, he was a baby after all. Today was also the day he researched the topic that haunted his mind in his sleep. Twilight was already out of the house on her daily routine. Spike had the house to himself for an hour of so. He went straight for the 'Pony Anatomy and Stuff' section of the library. He looked under the L's for his target book, but he couldn't find it. He decided to just go through all the books. Eventually, he found the book he was looking for under the H's. It was titled 'What you should know about Homosexuality.' By Anonymous. Figures. Every strange book in the library had Anonymous as the author. It was like they didn't want to embarrass themselves by making a weird book. But, whatever. He flipped to the Table of Contents and found exacly was he was looking for. 'Can Mare's be with Other Mare's?'. It was one of the last chapters, right after, 'How do I know if I'm Homosexual' and before 'Index/Glossary'. He flipped to the first page of that chapter and read. Chapter 7 - Can Mare's be with Other Mare's? 'Well, the answer is yes. While a mare is usually thought to be with a stallion, mares sometimes have interests in other mares. Is this normal? Yes, it's actually quite common in the average pony community. Since there seems that about 70% of ponies are female, there are only so many colts or stallions to go around. This is sometimes referred to as 'Homosexuality' or 'Being a Lesbian' for mares. Although mares can be attracted to other mares, usually a pony (or unicorn, Pegasus) is attracted to the same race. Ex. Pegusi are usually attracted to (whether straight or gay) other Pegusi. Same goes for unicorns and Earth-ponies. You rarely see a Pegasus with a Unicorn. Anyways, Mares can with other mares. THE END' Spike read the short little chapter and thought about how common it was that he saw a mare with another mare. Even after reading that he still didn't understand fully. So, he thought it'd be best to ask a Lesbian about Lesbians. He put the book back on the shelf and walked towards the door, trying to remember where Sweet Apple Acres was. Spike walked down the street of Sugarcube Corner looking left and right for the entrance to the apple orchard. He finally found it and waddled over to it. He stepped though the wooden archway leading to the apple orchard. The baby dragon looked around the fields expecting to see Applejack working, but no such luck. He figured she was on a day off, much like him, or was taking a break. Either way she would be in the old wooden house atop the hill in the center of the farm. Spike walked down the dirt path admiring the beautiful scenery of the leaves of the hundreds of apple trees blowing gently in the breeze, bathed in a golden light coming from a shining sun that just barely rose above the top of the green foliage (wow, I should really start writing poetry). Spike kept on the path until he reached the old house. He knocked on the door and waited. Applebloom answered, a big smile on her face. "Howdy there Spike! What brings you here?" Applebloom asked Spike gleefully. Spike swallowed and spoke. "Um, can I talk to Applejack please?" Spike asked. Applebloom nodded and called for her big sister. Applejack eventuall came down the steps of the house and walked over to the door. "Yes Applebloom? Oh, hi Spike! Didn't notice ya there. So, why you here on such a wonderful day?" Applejack asked Spike, the same smile on her face as Applebloom. Spike tried to speak but it didn't work. He was too nervous! He should have thought this out more carefully. "Uh, Spike? You okay?" Applejack asked Spike. He finally gathered up enough courage to ask Applejack to speak to him in private. "Um, can I talk to you for a sec? I-In private." Spike said to Applejack, who shooed away Applebloom and stepped outside of the house, closing the door behind her. "Follow me." Applejack lead Spike behind the house and into a storage shed. Once inside, Spike started talking. "Applejack, I've been wondering for a while. Um, how should I put this. You know when you were at the party yesterday and you and Pinkie..." Spike didn't have to say much more before Applejack picked up on what he was asking. "Oh, I know what yer askin'. You wanna know 'bout me an' Pinkie being all lovebird-y. Well, simple. Me and Pinkie are dating. I'm sure you can read something about lesbians in a book at yer house." Applejack said to Spike, not answering his question he never even asked. "Well, you see. I already read something on it. But I still don't get it. Why would you two be together?" Spike asked Applejack, almost offending her. "What do ya mean by that, Spike? Like, why would me and her be together of just 2 mares in general?" Applejack asked Spike, continuing the back-and-forth of answering questions with more questions. Spike rubbed the back of his neck, obviously nervous. "I mean you two. I already understand why 2 mares in general but. You two are so... different. Like, you work on a farm and Pinkie works in a Bakery. How do you two ever really get to see each other? And why Pinkie? Why not another farming type like..." Spike's mind drew a blank. He couldn't think of anyone she could go out with that wouldn't be considered incest. "Oh Spike. You're too young to understand. When thinking about somepony you like or want to date, never think of the negatives. Think of the positives. Like, both our jobs include sometimes getting dirty. We're both hard workers. We both don't live with our parents. I can give her apples for cakes and such, and she can give me cakes. And such. See, I could go on and on. But for the sake of time, I'll stop right there. Do you get it now?" Spike nodded and thanked Applejack before walking back to the treehouse before Twilight worried about him being gone too long. He finally understood pretty much everything one can know about a pony. But one thing still bothered him. If Applejack and Pinkie could get together so easily, than why had he kept failing with Rarity? Was it time to... move on? (That's a whole 'nother story, maybe i'll make that later on in the year.) Spike continued back to his home. While walking down the street, he saw Pinkie Pie hoping down the road in the opposite direction. He thought that maybe he could ask her as well. "Hey, Pinkie! Can I ask you something?" Spike said walking towards the pink mare. "Yes, you can ask me something! What is that something? Is it a question? Are we playing 20 Questions?! I LOVE that game! I'll go first. Are you a... vegetable?" Pinkie Pie started going on asked questions rapid-fire right at Spike. Luckily Spike could stop her before she burst. "No, Pinkie, we're not playing 20 Questions. I just wanted to ask-" Uh oh, there was that nervousness again. "Uh, I wanted to ask, why do you like Applejack?" Spike asked the crazy pink earth pony. "Oh, that's an easy one! She HOT!" Pinkie responded, not skipping a beat. Spike just sat there paralyzed with shock as Pinkie hoped down the street.
