> Equestria Girls It's Showtime--Handy Manny: Spring in the Air > by Big Imagination E > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Rainbooms Stage Needs Fixing > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- One spring day at Canterlot High we see the entire student body enjoying their daily activities. Some of them were doing their schoolwork and others were hanging out in the hallways. But one certain group of girls were in the music room practicing their brand new song for a special occasion. Reason why is because the school is invited to a spring festival. After the Rainbooms finished playing they all decided to take a little break. "Whew. That was a great practice girls. Now were fully ready for the spring festival. It's gonna be the best spring we ever had." Sunset said. "I know. The spring festival is believed to have originated during the Shang Dynasty (1600 to 1100 B.C.). Originally, it was a spring carnival where people offered sacrifices to gods and ancestors at the end of winter, welcoming the arrival of spring. But this festival is not gonna be like that. No. We are gonna celebrate the arrival of spring by playing games, doing activities, and singing and dancing to the music." Twilight explained. "Twilight. Can you please stop with the egghead talk? It's bad enough I gotta hear that in class. And I seriously don't need to hear more of that when it's springtime." Rainbow complained. Twilight frowned at her remark but decided not to let that ruin her mood. Then the speaker went off and everyone prepared to listen. "Attention everyone. Principal Celestia here with an announcement. As you all know that today is the day you are rewarded with celebrating at the spring festival. It will be held at a town called Sheetrock Hills. My friend Mayor Rosa will be the one helping us prepare for the festival that will occur later tonight. So please gather your belongings and make your way to the buses and soon we will celebrate spring." Celestia announced. The Rainbooms smiled hearing that and packed all their stuff and headed out to the buses. In a lovely town called Sheetrock Hills we see lots of people minding their own business. In the park was where the festival was gonna be held tonight. And we see a woman helping out with the party planning. She wears a violet skirt, a pink blouse, a purple suit jacket, has black hair with a bit of gray in front, light brown eyes, pink earrings and purple ballet flats. That is Mayor Rosa. She saw the bus pull up in front of the park and everyone got off and walked to her. Principal Celestia was the first one to greet her and shook her hand. "Principal Celestia. So glad you and the class can join us." Mayor Rosa smiled. "Us too Mayor Rosa. We were told that you have the preparations going smoothly and you needed a band to perform later on tonight." Celestia said. "Exactly. The preparations are going good. Miss Portillo is in charge of baking the cupcakes for the kids, Mr Lopart is in charge of getting some candy for the kids, Coach Johnson is currently training his track runners for a special race later on, and I'm helping out with the decorations. And I assume that you have a band ready to play a special spring song later on?" Mayor Rosa asked. "Yes. The Rainbooms will be the ones playing tonight. They are Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rarity and Sunset Shimmer." Principal Celestia introduced. Mayor Rosa smiled at the seven girls and shook each of their hands. "It's very nice to meet you girls. I trust that you will be singing later on?" Mayor Rosa asked. "Yes we will be. Any song you want us to sing we will do it for you Mayor Rosa." Fluttershy smiled. "Oh that's wonderful girls. But unfortunately it will have to wait for a while. The stage is in bad shape at the moment right now." Mayor Rosa said as she pointed to the stage seeing it all broken and the wood is rotten. "Oh my! What happened?" Rarity asked. "Well last time we tried having a party here a big rainstorm came by and soaked it up real bad. The bits are broken and some of the wood has rotted. Yeah so until we get it all fixed up I'm afraid you girls will have to wait a little while." Mayor Rosa said. "Ok. But is there anyone that knows how to repairs things like this?" Applejack wondered. "Actually yes! I know someone who can fix anything! Manny Garcia! Or as everyone calls him Handy Manny." Mayor Rosa answered. "Um who is Handy Manny?" Rainbow asked. "I'm glad you asked. See girls Manny is our town's repairman and is always happy, kind and friendly towards everyone in Sheetrock Hills. He offers his services as a handyman and is able to fix anything. Due to this, he has an excellent reputation as a handyman and was named as "The Best Repairman in the County" in the episode "Best Repairman" and he was awarded with the "Good Citizenship Award", after he unknowingly repaired his own trophy. And fun fact he has a crush on Kelly, even though he doesn't show it. But if anyone can fix the stage it's him." Mayor Rosa answered. "Oh. But wait. Before you do I gotta ask. Was there anything else he fixed other than the trophy?" Twilight wondered. "Yes there was. He and Ben helped raised the flag at Sheetrock Hills Elementary School, he also helped out with Joe finishing up some construction work when his crew was sick, and lots of other things that people needed help fixing. Trust me if anyone can fix this it is definitely Handy Manny." Mayor Rosa assured. "Well if you really insist on that then we trust you. I just hope that he can fix this in time before we have to sing tonight." Twilight hoped. "Don't you worry girls. I promise you that Handy Manny will guarantee get that stage fixed up in no time. Lemme give him a call and he will certainly help out." Mayor Rosa said. She took out her phone and dialed his number and waited as the phone rang. It's time for the best repairman to help fix that stage. Who is it? The only and only Handy Manny! > The Call and Mr Lopart > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- We cut to a repair shop where Handy Manny lives and works. It fact it was Mr Lopart who said 'Spring in the Air' which one noticed whatsoever. Inside the shop was a man who was painting a picture of some flowers. The man wears a green shirt with a white shirt underneath, a red hat, a yellow toolbelt, yellow rubber gloves, blue jeans and brown boots. He has brown eyes and dark brown hair (which the front and top part of his hair is covered, and only the back portion of the hair exposed) and tanned skin. This was Handy Manny. There was also his tools, and like humans they, age, eat, drink, have emotions, speak, breathe, get sick, and sleep. I know that's crazy but that's the way in Sheetrock Hills. The tools names are Felipe, Stretch, Turner, Rusty, Dusty, Squeeze, Pat and Flicker. They were watching Manny finishing up the painting and set it aside to let it dry. "Hermosas flores. Beautiful flowers." Felipe said. "Thanks. Mayor Rosa wanted me to make some art to hang around the park for the spring festival. It will be the best spring festival anyone has ever seen." Manny smiled. "It's gonna be so much fun spending the spring at the park." Dusty said. "Si. With all our amigos." Felipe replied. "And our friends!" Pat added. "Amigos ARE friends Pat." Felipe explained. "Oh. Right." Pat realized. "I like the part where we hear the special band playing at night. The music really gets the crowd grooving." Rusty said. "Well I like to see all the colorful flowers." Squeeze added. "Flowers?" Rusty worried "With all those scary bees?" "Oh come on! You are not afraid of flowers and bees are you?" Turner asked. "Guys. I'm glad your all excited but the festival doesn't start for another few hours. And since we have plenty of time we need to get to the park and see if there's anything else Mayor Rosa needs our help with." Manny said. Then he heard his phone ringing and went to it and answered the call. "Hola. Handy Manny's Repair Shop. You break it, we fix it. This is Manny." He started as a voice is heard on the other line and it revealed to be Mayor Rosa. "Hello Manny. It's Mayor Rosa. I really need your help." She said. "Hola Mayor Rosa. What's seems to be the trouble?" Manny asked. "Well a good friend of mine named Principal Celestia has brought her class to enjoy the festival and her best students the Rainbooms are gonna perform a song later tonight. But the stage is in really bad shape and I was wondering if you can fix it?" Mayor Rosa explained. "Of course we can. I do like hearing a band playing at night. So yes we'll fix the stage." Manny answered. "Thank you Manny. Oh and when you arrive I can probably introduce you to them so that way you'll get comfortable around them." Mayor Rosa added. "That be wonderful. I do like making new friends. But to be ready I better stop by Kelly's to get some materials for the stage. It's better to be prepared." Manny said as he hung up. "Come on tools. We got a job to do." Manny replied as the tools started jumping and a song started playing. After they finished singing they all headed out the door as soon as Manny grabbed the picture and made their way to the park. But then they ran into another man they knew and he was getting some candy bags ready and there was a tray of strawberry iced donut bites baked fresh. He appears to have brown hair, which only at the back portion of his head is covered with hair, while only strands of hair are covering the top of his head. Mr. Lopart wears round-rimmed glasses to improve his eyesight. Mr. Lopart wears a purple and white striped collar shirt, while wearing a purple coat over it. Mr. Lopart wears light greyish-purple pants and he wears a pair of purple loafers. "Hola Mr Lopart." Manny greeted. "Oh hello Manny, hello tools." Mr Lopart greeted back. The tools all gave their greetings to him and he smiled. "I see you have some candy bags ready and I also see that you have a tray of fresh strawberry iced donut bites." Manny noticed. "I sure do Manny. I thought the donut bites would be a nice way to welcome mother home from Florida. She's getting back from her vacation tonight." Mr Lopart said. "Oh that's nice. I hope you and Mrs Lopart are planning to come to the spring festival." Manny smiled. "We sure are! We wouldn't miss it. Mother and I always spend spring together. It's been that way since I was a little boy. And Fluffy will be happy to see mother when she gets home." Mr Lopart said. "That's great! But you know what? While you're waiting for Mrs Lopart to return home why don't you help us get ready for the spring festival?" Manny offered. "Yeah. It might make the time go faster. Oh and bring a smile to Fluffy's face when your mother returns home." Dusty added. "Well I am pretty good when it comes to building things. And I hate to let Mayor Rosa down. And it would go faster so Fluffy can see mother. Alright! I'm on board. And Fluffy is too." Mr Lopart smiled. "Muy bien! Were happy to have you on our team Mr Lopart. Now let's go make a quick stop at Kelly's Hardware Store so I can get some supplies and then we'll head to the park to find Mayor Rosa." Manny said. So Mr Lopart handed him the candy bags and he carried the donut bites with Fluffy following him. First stop: Kelly's Hardware Store and then the park! > Kelly and Meeting the Rainbooms > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The two men made their way to the hardware store and Manny was the first one in. Then Mr Lopart came in with Fluffy and inside was everything that a handyman or repairman needs. At the counter was a woman who works here. She is a Caucasian redhead with green eyes, pale sapphire piercings, light skin, a pink shirt, blue pants, a beige fanny pack around her waist and light pink ballet flats. This is Kelly. The owner of the store and a nice, heart-warming, kind and funny woman. She works in the hardware store and has nearly everything that Manny needs to repair anything, and she has a huge crush on Manny. I really don't know why they haven't confessed at all. But I'm not rushing it. Anyway when Kelly saw the two boys she immediately greeted them. "Manny. Mr Lopart. I'm glad you came here. Is there anything I can get you?" Kelly asked. "Well I got a call from Mayor Rosa saying that the stage the Rainbooms were supposed to perform on tonight is in bad shape. So I'm gonna need new pieces of wood to repair it." Manny answered. "Coming right up. Anything you need Mr Lopart?" Kelly asked. "Oh no. I'm good. I'm only helping Manny get the preparations ready. Besides I have these candy bags and strawberry iced donut bites to bring anyways. But mother will be happy to try one when she comes home. It's her famous recipe after all." Mr Lopart replied. Then he heard his phone go off and he placed down the tray. "Manny I gotta take this." Mr Lopart said as he took out his phone and answered it. Then we reveal that it was a woman with pink hair and wearing sunglasses and a flower dress. This was his mom Mrs Lopart. "Hello?" "Leonard? It's me." She answered. "Mother! Are you calling to let me know that you're arriving home soon? Cause I certainly can't wait to celebrate with you." Mr Lopart asked. "Yes. I already arrived home but there's something I gotta tell you. See since it's spring time I wanted to go ahead and get some nice flowers to place in the garden. But don't worry I promise that after I finish getting them I will meet you at the park for the celebration." Mrs Lopart answered. "Ok mother. I wish you good luck on getting those flowers. And I have a little surprise of my own. I think you'll love what I have prepared for you." Mr Lopart added. "Oh that's sweet of you Leonard. Well I gotta get the flowers so I will see you at the park later tonight." Mrs Lopart said. "Alright mother. We'll see you then." Mr Lopart said as he hung up and saw Manny finished getting the supplies he needed. "Ok Mr Lopart. I finished getting the supplies I need. Who was that on the phone?" Manny asked. "It's mother. She already arrived home but she's going to get some flowers for the garden so she'll meet us later at the park." Mr Lopart answered. "Oh maravilloso! That will make the park beautiful. Now come on. We better get to the park and help Mayor Rosa." Manny said. So Manny grabbed all his stuff and the tools as Mr Lopart got his things and they made their way to the park. Soon they all arrived and found Mayor Rosa with Principal Celestia and the class. They saw them and smiled knowing that help has arrived to fix the stage. "Ah. Manny. I'm glad you arrived. I like for you to meet Principal Celestia and the Rainbooms. The girls that are with Celestia are Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Applejack and Sunset Shimmer. They'll be performing later tonight." Mayor Rosa introduced. "So you must be Handy Manny. Nice to meet you." Celestia said. "Hola Principal Celestia. It's nice to meet you as well. Oh and the Rainbooms too." Manny smiled. Then one by one the Rainbooms introduced themselves and the tools did the same thing which surprised them a little. "Um sir? How are you going to fix the stage if your tools are talking? Did they get infected with magic?" Twilight asked. "No Twilight. They been like this ever since the first day I bought them. I got used to it and I certainly needed all the help I can get from them whenever I repair something." Manny explained. "It's true. So don't worry. We ain't gonna hurt you. Were just gonna see about fixing the stage so you can perform later tonight." Dusty assured. "Ok but...AHHHH!! ARE THOSE STRAWBERRY ICED DONUT BITES!!?!?" Pinkie squealed. She ran towards Mr Lopart and tackled him on the ground which sent them flying in the air. Rainbow saw that and using her speed her managed to catch every last one of them with the tray and placed them on the table. "Pinkie?! Are you crazy?! You could have ruined them and then they won't be good for eating anymore!!" Rainbow yelled. "Whoopsy Daisy. I forgot." Pinkie smiled. "Are you alright?" Sunset asked. Mr Lopart got up and fixed his hair and wiped off the dirt from his clothes. "Yeah I'm good. But is your friend always like this? She must have eaten way too much cupcakes." "Sorry. Pinkie can be a little crazy sometimes but she means well." Fluttershy apologized and then she saw Fluffy. "Aww is this your cat?" "Yes. That's Fluffy. I had her since I was a little boy. Mother loved Fluffy too whenever she feels a little lonely sometimes. But anyways I'm gonna be setting up my candy stand. If you need me I'll be doing that." Mr Lopart said. "If it's not too much trouble I like to watch over Fluffy while you set your candy stand." Fluttershy offered. "Sure. Fluffy seems to be calm around you so sure." Mr Lopart agreed as he went off to set up his stand. "Anyways Manny were glad your here. So is there any chance you can fix the stage in time before night falls in?" Celestia asked. "Sure. Let's see the stage first and we'll get it fixed in no time at all." Manny said. So they all went to the stage to see what needs fixing and what needs upgrading. But one way or another he will fix it like he always does. > Fixing it Up > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- When everyone got near the stage the saw all the damage that was done by the storm. Some wood boards were broken and some were rotted. The stairs were broken, the curtains were ripped and the paint job was coming off. Yep definitely not the stage anyone wants to sing on for the moment. "Yeah this stage is in really bad shape." Manny said. "Yeah. And we really want to sing tonight. But with the stage all broken I don't think we can." Sunset replied. "Not to worry Sunset. I'm sure we can fix it up no problem. Stretch can you measure the wood to see how much we need to replace the broken and rotted ones?" Manny asked. "Coming right up Manny." Stretch replied. So using his tape measuring skills Stretch used his mouth to get the exact measurements he needed so he can tell Manny how much wood he needs to fix the stage. "Let's see. The short ones are like 3/4 x 1-1/2″ and the long ones are 3/4 x 7-1/4″. So we'll need four of the small ones and at least six of the long ones exactly." Stretch replied. "Thanks Stretch. Squeeze can you pull out the old nails?" Manny asked. "I sure can Manny." Squeeze replied. "And Dusty? I'm gonna need you to cut the exact length Stretch mentioned. Can you do that?" Manny asked again. "No problem Manny. I can do that." Dusty said. So first thing that happened was that Squeeze did her part by pulling out all the old nails from the rotted wood and broken boards. Then Dusty did her part by cutting the lengths of each piece that Manny needs to replace the old ones. "How is it that your tools are able to do their part on helping you rebuild the stage? They have got to be hit with Equestrian magic." Twilight said. "Manny already told you Twilight. We were able to talk and sing ever since the day he first got us. Besides I think you'll get used to it once we finish the stage." Stretch reminded her. "Um Stretch was it?" Sunset asked as he nodded. "Look I definitely understand that there's no magic coming from you but Twilight has dealt with magic beings during her time here. So I understand that you are not infected with it. So give Twilight some time okay?" "Sure. After all it will get used to it." Stretch admitted. Stretch hopped off Sunset's hand and went to the others and helped them get the right sizes of wood for them to place in the holes where the old ones were. Manny placed the nails in them and Pat hammered them down so they'll stay. Then Felipe and Turner both screwed in some screws to hold the electronic parts on the bottom of the stage. The sun started to set and night came in and the stage was starting to look better but there was still work that needed to be done. But Ms Portillo arrived with the cupcakes and Coach Johnson came with the track team ready for the special night race later. Then Mayor Rosa came to check on Manny. "How's everything going Manny?" Mayor Rosa asked. "It's going well. But we still have some adjustments to make." Manny answered. "Si. It is looking better. But were not sure if it's a hundred percent safe yet." Felipe added. "Oh well I'm glad to hear that your making progress. But the Rainbooms are really wanting to perform tonight and they are starting to worry." Mayor Rosa said. She pointed out to the Rainbooms who are starting to get a little upset that they might not be able to play tonight. "Oh. Well were doing everything we can. We got the basics down. And now we gotta finish that." Manny said. The tools all agreed and they prepared to finish up the stage. "Come on tools we got a job to do." Manny said as a song began playing. As they were all singing each of the tools were doing their parts of fixing the stage. Felipe and Turner were putting in the screws, Rusty and Squeeze were putting new bolts in, Dusty was cutting the length of the wood that Manny needs, Stretch was measuring it to see if it was the right size and Pat was hammering the nails in. Then even decided to replace the torn curtains with new ones and give it a nice paint job. After they finished singing they see that the stage was now all done and ready for the band to set up. > The Spring Festival has Begun!! > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mayor Rosa and Manny along with Mr Lopart and the tools all looked at the new stage that was complete and they see the Rainbooms setting up all their equipment to perform later tonight. "Well done Manny. Thanks to you and the tools the stage is now up and ready. The Rainbooms are so happy and will be performing in a few minutes." Mayor Rosa said. "Your welcome Mayor Rosa. It was our pleasure to fix the stage." Manny smiled. "Well Manny I certainly see why you are a the best repairman around Sheetrock Hills. You really can fix anything that is broken. In fact why don't you and the tools say for the festival? It's the least we can do to thank you for fixing the stage." Celestia offered. "Gracias Celestia. We be honored to stay for the festival." Manny accepted. "I'm glad to hear that." Celestia smiled. With Mr Lopart he smiled seeing his candy stand and set up and ready to go. Then Fluttershy came back with Fluffy and the cat purred. "Hey Fluttershy. I hope Fluffy didn't give you too much trouble." Mr Lopart said. "Oh no. Fluffy was a good kitty. She didn't give me any trouble. I'm actually good with animals. And a cat is no different than all the others." Fluttershy replied. "Really. Well that's a surprise. I just wish mother was here to see this." Mr Lopart wished. "Leonard!" He turned around and saw someone coming towards him. She had pink hair styled like icing and was wearing glasses and the flower dress she had on during her time in Florida. He instantly knew who it was. His mother. "Mother! Oh I'm so happy that your here! I thought you didn't make it." Mr Lopart said. "Well I got finished getting the flowers and I couldn't stay away from my favorite son. So when I finished I made my way here." Mrs Lopart said as she noticed Fluttershy. "Oh Leonard. Who's this lovely lady?" "This is Fluttershy. She's my friend and she happens to be really good with animals. Fluffy gave her no trouble at all." Mr Lopart introduced. "Hi Mrs Lopart. It's really nice to meet you." Fluttershy said. "Oh it's nice to meet you too. Is it true that you are really good with animals?" Mrs Lopart asked. "Oh yes. I love all sorts of animals. No matter how big and small they are I treat them like family." Fluttershy answered. "I see. Your parents must have taught you very well on taking care of animals very well. I can totally understand where you get that talent from." Mrs Lopart smiled. "Thank you. And if it's okay I be happy to watch over Fluffy when your on a trip next time." Fluttershy offered. "Oh Fluffy will love that. And you can most certainly come by and watch over Fluffy. That will be perfect." Mrs Lopart said. She smiled and thanked Mrs Lopart before heading off to finish setting up for tonight's show. During that time we see everyone enjoying the festival. First we see them enjoying the colorful flowers and admiring the spring look, then we see them cheering for The Sheetrock Hills Elementary School track team as they raced around the lap like 30 times, And finally we see the kids stopping by Mr Lopart's candy stand as he gives them the candy bags and two strawberry iced donut bites for each kid. Then came the big performance as Mayor Rosa came on stage and prepared to speak in the microphone. "Attention everyone. I like to thank you all for coming here tonight. I sincerely hope you enjoyed the spring festival. And before we end this night on a wonderful spring day put your hands together for a special performance by none other than the Rainbooms!!!" Mayor Rosa announced. After she said that the crowd cheered and the curtains opened revealing them as they started singing. As the Rainbooms were singing the crowd was all grooving! Even the tools were dancing. In fact they decided to sing along when Sunset encouraged the crowd to join in! Kelly decided to bust out a few moves herself and Mr Lopart joined. But suddenly he accidentally slipped on something and fell. But then he laughed it off and got up and continued. Then Manny came in and boogie it on down. Then everyone showed off their moves. When the song ended they all posed and cheered for the Rainbooms. "Happy Spring everyone!!" Felipe said to the readers. And so we zoom out of the festival and into the night view of Sheetrock Hills seeing the party is still going. And thus my friends ends a crossover with the best repairman around Sheetrock Hills Handy Manny. The End.
