Secret Stashes are meant to be hidden. But what happens when they’re found by the wrong pony?

Rainbow Dash enjoys countless things, ranging from flying to drinking delicious cider. However, on her recent trip to Cloudsdale with Twilight, she discovers a popular new snack that sells like wildfire. She finds them inside a small store, realizing the candy was infused with THC. Much to her excitement, she was able to purchase two bags of them. She’d always wanted to try them, but didn’t know where to find them.

Returning home to Ponyville, she decides it would be best to hide them so Soarin wouldn’t find them. She starts to experiment with the orange-shaped candy while Soarin goes out to run errands. What she doesn’t account for is him returning home earlier than expected.

Orange Slices

Rainbow Dash had a great time in Cloudsdale with her friend Twilight Sparkle. After showing her around and purchasing numerous things from nearby stores, they started flying back to Ponyville.

“What’d you buy from the shop?” A curious Twilight Sparkle asked her friend.

“Just some gummy snacks, they’re shaped like oranges. I don’t know what they are, but I bet they’re awesome! Rainbow Dash responded excitedly.

She grinned to herself, staring at the packaging of the little pouches.

”40 milligrams per piece…oh…that’s perfect!” Rainbow Dash thought, smirking at the small THC stamp on the side of the bag.

Rainbow packed the two bags into her saddlebag, carefully concealing them deep inside.

“If Soarin saw these, he’d kill me. Well…I don’t know what he’s do, but he wont be happy about this…maybe he shouldn’t know about them…” Rainbow Dash mused, unsure of her actions.

“Wow Rainbow, you sure are awfully quiet-“

“WHO SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THE THC ORANGE SLICES?!” She exclaimed, putting a hoof onto her mouth to mask her outburst.

“THC orange slice gummies…? That was what you bought at the store…?” Her purple Alicorn friend replied, piecing together the details.

“I-uhm…well…technically they aren’t…well they are…okay fine I bought edibles…there, are you happy now?” She rapidly explained, tripping over her words.

Twilight blinked twice before smirking at her flustered friend.

“Well, if you’re that sensitive about them, I can keep your secret safe. Besides, they’re yours to enjoy, but I won’t judge you for it.” She suggested, still smiling at her friend.

“Really…? So…you’re saying I should hide it if I’m uncomfortable about them..?”

“Well, you could. Isn’t your house made of clouds…? You can stuff the bags inside the clouds. I’m sure Soarin wouldn’t mind that you’re usi-“

“Yeah yeah yeah…anyways…thanks Twi!”

With the blink of an eye, Rainbow Dash was gone, leaving the alicorn flying in the sky alone.

“Of course…” Twilight remarked, rolling her eyes.

Rainbow Dash made it home fairly quickly, rushing inside and looking around. She walked around, calling out Soarin’s name, but seemed to find no-pony inside. What she did find was a note from Soarin on the kitchen counter. She started reading the little note and couldn't help but grin ecstatically.

"Hey Dash, I'm gonna be home late. I'll be running some quick errands tonight. I'll see you in the morning, goodnight!"

- Soarin

She squee’d, unable to stop smiling.

”How lucky can one mare get…? I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m so glad that Soarin isn’t here. Where should I hide these…?”

She thought for a moment, hesitating.

Would Soarin be angry at me…? Well…he doesn’t have to know, does he…?

She smirked confidently as she took one bag and stuffed it inside the cloud wall next to the sofa, packing the with bits of cloud.

He’ll never know…besides…who looks inside the walls anyways…?

She happily grabbed the second bag from her saddlebag, opening it to reveal several small orange-shaped fruit snacks.

“Jackpot!” She whispered to herself with glee.

She lied down on her couch, relaxing with her hooves outstretched. She gently stuck one hoof into the bag and took out one of the orange slice gummies. Inspecting it carefully, she gently sniffed the candy, taking in its orange aroma.

The sound of hoofsteps startled her as she threw the gummy into her mouth, stuffing the bag into the side of the cloud wall, closing it with more bits of cloud to cover her tracks. She chewed on the fruit snack briefly, savoring its sweet taste, before preemptively swallowing it.

Soarin opened the door and walked in slowly, spotting Rainbow Dash sprawled out on the couch.

“H…Hey Soarin…!” Dash yelped, nervously peering at him before putting on a fake grin.

“Hey Dashie…are you alright…? You’re sweating.”

“Uh…I just came back from practicing my flying techniques! I thought you were coming back at midnight!

“Oh, well…I finished early. We can finally be together tonight!” He smiled as he walked to Dash, sitting on the couch cushion next to her.

“Uhh..yeah! That’s awesome…! I can’t wait, but, what should we do…?”

“We could watch a movie, duh…! I can make us some popcorn.”

“Sounds gr…great!”

“Are you sure yo-“

“I gotta use the bathroom…be back in a second…” Dash shrieked, rushing to get away from Soarin before she said something she’d regret.

“Okaaaay then….” Soarin replied to the empty room, sighing as he went to the kitchen to work on making the popcorn.

She ran towards the bedroom, jumping onto her bed and closing the door to be alone with her thoughts.

“Oh buck…oh BUCK! Why did he have to come home so damn early!?…Why did I have to eat that strong edible so soon…What if he finds out…What if he gets upset…What if…”

“Everything okay in there…? The popcorn’s gonna be ready in a few minutes…”

“Y..yeah..! I was just making sure I put my…my bag away! I’ll be there in a few minutes!”

She heard hoofsteps descending down the stairs and quickly sat up on the side of her bed.

“I’ll be fine…he won’t know…Besides, he won’t find my stash! I’ll just act like normal…yeah…he won’t know the difference!” She sighed, putting on a playful smirk.

Dash made her way to the couch, laying down on her side and looking at their blank projector screen.

“Mmmmmmmhh…” she sighed, smelling the popcorn that was popping in the kitchen. She felt some heat spread across her face slowly.

“Was I always this hungry…?”

“Dash, popcorn’s ready! Did you save me a sp-…hey, are you feeling okay?”

She squinted and blinked in the direction of Soarin, not looking at him directly.

“Why are your eyes red…? You haven’t been crying, have you…? Do you wanna talk or something?” Soarin rapidly asked her, not receiving much of a response from her drowsy friend. He put the popcorn down on the table and used his hoof to lift her face to look at his. Instead of looking away, she stared directly into his eyes, a faint smile on her face.

“I don’t know if it’s this edible, but Soarin’s eyes are beautiful…I can’t look away…I think he noticed, but I can’t say anything.” She thought, yawning into Soarin’s face.

The warm breath hit Soarin’s muzzle and he quickly smelt the hint of orange scent off her mouth.

“H..hey, you didn’t eat anything earlier…did you…?” He said directly to Dash.

“Mmmmmmmmhhhhmmm…one of those…orange slice thingies…” She said without thinking, still staring directly at Soarin. She slowly raised her hoof to the cloud wall before yanking it back down. “Well…uhmm…why don’t we watch a movie now…eheheh…?” She abruptly changed topics, nervous bits of giggling coming out of her.

Soarin took one look at the wall, noticing a faint hole which he could see through. He placed his hoof inside, bringing it back to reveal the two bags of edibles that Dash bought. Inspecting the bag further, his eyes landed directly on the THC stamp and the 40 milligram sticker.

“Oh Celestia, you…you ate these?! Are you feeling okay? I…I didn’t know you liked these…” Soarin trailed off, looking nervously towards Dash.

“I…I’m fine…just a little tired…Sorry Soarin. I thought if I…ehm…hid them, you wouldn’t find them…I didn’t know they’d kick in so fast…it’s my first time an-“ a hoof pressed against her lips, stopping her from talking. She stared up at Soarin, who looked down at her grinning slightly.

“Well, I noticed…those usually take an hour or two to settle in, some of my friends eat those aswell. You got them from Cloudsdale on your little trip?”

“I-ye..yeah…how’d you know…? Can you read m…minds…?” She asked fearfully.

“Of course not, silly!” He laughed, sitting down next to Dash.

Rainbow Dash dropped herself onto Soarin’s Hooves, lying with her wings drooping. She turned to look up at Soarin’s face.

“Mmmmmmmm…much better…Say Soarin…have you always looked that…awesome…?” She smiled, her gaze shifting to his green eyes.

“Aww, that’s sweet. You look even better, Dashie. Now, let’s watch this movie. He said as his grin grew.

She exhaled softly, turning her gaze to the projector screen draped over the cloud wall infront of them.

“I guess I was worried for nothing. He seems to be okay with it! Twilight was right…maybe I took this a little too far. He really does care about me…and I care about him too! He’s such a great stallion.” She thought to herself, her gaze fixed on the movie screen.

Soarin and Dash frequently shared laughs with each other while watching the movie. She kept on shifting closer and closer to Soarin, and he didn’t mind it at all, drawing her closer each time. He noticed her shivering a little and draped his wing over her body, magically stopping her shivering almost as quickly as it started.

Rainbow would occasionally let out long sighs and lay motionless for minutes on end, slowly letting herself warm up. Before the movie ended, Soarin realized she’d fallen asleep ontop of him. They’d finished the popcorn, which nearly starved him as he’d only gotten a few pieces before Dash had gobbled most of them up. He let a sigh escape his mouth as he sat there on the couch, tired from the day’s struggles. He leaned down to Dash and lightly kissed her on her head.

“Love you Dashie, sleep tight.” He whispered into her ear.

Rainbow responded by shifting closer into Soarin’s wing, snuggling up against it, and sighing softly in her sleep. Soarin knew what she meant, even though she didn’t say it directly to him. He placed his head ontop of hers and lied down next to her. Before long, he too was asleep, nuzzling his favorite mare.
