Petition

View Online

We, the municipalities of Equestria, hereby file this list of grievances:

1. The current administration have proven themselves to be either inadequate, or incompetent in the face of imminent danger.

2. The current administration has flagrantly subverted multiple laws put in place by the Privy Council.

3. The most recent disaster, being Tirek, could have been prevented had the current administration taken proper actions.

4. The actions perused before, during, and after the Tirek crisis, were at best negligent, and at worst criminally incompetent.

It is the opinion of the signatories of this document that the current administration, being the diarchy of Princess Luna and Princess Celestia, has proven itself untrustworthy in times of danger. Therefore, our demands are as follows:

1. The diarchy must reduce it's power over the Privy Council.

2. The diarchy must be held responsible for its negligence.

3. The diarchy must suffer an appropriate punishment.

4. Any policies that affect a municipality, or municipalities, must be held to referendum of the ponies in said municipalities.

If the diarchy refuses to cooperate, the Law and Order League will be forced to commit in civil disobedience.

Dear Celestia,

How have you been? I feel it's been so long since we've met when the fate of Equestria didn't hang in the balance.

It's been rather hectic here since Tirek, lots of cleanup. Not making things any easier is that Law and Order League. Ever since that petition was published, more and more ponies are refusing to cooperate. They just seem to be making everything worse. Now is the time to work together, not fall apart.

Even the other day, there was a mass sit-in protest in the Ponyville town hall. The mayor was physically blocked from entering her office for three hours! The protest only ended when she threatened to bring out the guard.

I certainly hope things calm down. If you have any advice on how to deal with the league, I would greatly appreciate it.

Your friend and loyal student,
Twilight Sparkle.

P.S. Spike wishes for me to add, "Hi Princess!".

Dear mom,

I'm sorry.

I'm sorry I yelled at you when you asked me to do the dishes. I'm sorry I wasn't there when dad was sick, when you needed someone. I'm sorry I left town when you needed me. I'm sorry I couldn't be there for you when dad passed. I'm sorry for all of it.

I'm sorry it took you being put in the hospital for me to come home.

I'm sorry you had to be there when Tirek attacked. I'm sorry you had to be put on life support, and I'm sorry that Discord turned the ventilator into a popcorn machine.

I'm sorry that I watched you choke to death, and I couldn't stop it.

Beyond all of that, I am sorry that the people who allowed this to happen to you are still alive.

Mom, if you are listening, I am so, so sorry.

Dear Celestia, why?

Dear Celestia,

Hello Celestia,

Recent events have damaged, weakened, strained opinions of the crown. While I respect honor your decision to disregard the Law and Order League, I must state that you actions have undermined the authority of the crown. I have had no less than three municipal leaders outright refuse decrees with no justifiable reasoning.

Respectfully, I believe your assessment of the current situation to be at best naïve, and at worst delusional. Every day I walk down the street, I see more and more signs with the league's symbols. Restaurants have begun segregating their customers into league/not league.

Ultimately, I must ask why. Why isare you the crown pursuing this course of action? Personally, I, as well as some of the other elements believe it might be worth reviewing the league's demands. I'm not saying you have to abdicate, but bending is better than snapping.

Anyway, I hope you are doing well, and tell Luna I said hi.

P.S. Spike says hi.

Mayor Trotter,

As I'm sure you're aware, the current situation is unsustainable. Just this week, ten of my best officers were seriously injured, and two were killed. The riots can not be allowed to continue. The city can't afford either the ponypower, or the coin to allow it.

It is my professional opinion that the Royal Guard be called in to assist with the civil unrest. Before you say anything, yes I am aware of the ramifications of calling up the guard. I am also aware it is practically professional suicide to commit to such an act. Despite these possibilities, the Manehatten PD simply does not have the available resources to deal with this struggle.

I urge you to make your decision soon.

-Police Commissioner Cyrus

Tear Here

P.S. What the hell is going on up there Jimmy? We're getting slaughtered out here. You and the suits better get your heads out of your plots. I don't know how much longer I can keep this city together, you need to get your family the hell out, and while you're at it, call up the fucking guard!

Twilight,

It ain't safe in Ponyville no more. I don't know if was a neighbor, or someone from outside Ponyville, but the farm was attacked yesterday. We never even saw em them. One minute the trees are blowing in tha the wind, the next the whole darn yard's burning down. I heard something close happened over at the botike boutique Granny Smith thinks we should just hunker down, and Big Mac thinks we should high tail. Like every other major decision, it came down to me.

I talked to the others, Rainbow and Rarity don't wanna leave, but Fluttershy and Pinkie said they might. My point is, ifin you want to come, you're more than welcome to. I figure you won't, but if you do, head south.

Before I decided, I wanted your input. I want the truth, do you think it's gonna get better? Ifin it ain't, me and the family are gonna head south to Dodge. We got family there.

Stay safe,

-Applejack

P.S. Tell Spike that Applebloom says howdy.

Dear Princess Celestia

Dear Princess Celestia,

I can not fathom your, or Princess Luna's for that matter, proclivity to stand and watch as Equestria burns. It is now evident to me, and the rest of Equestria, that the main reason you are not acting is not out of malice. It is out of fear. Both you and Princess Luna are terrified. For what conceivable reason, I know not. The two of you are the most powerful entities in Equestria, you hold dominion over the night and the day, and you do nothing to better your ponies. Ponies are dying in the streets, and you have yet to even mobilize the guard, in spite of several officials' requests.

I now know why you call us your "little ponies". It is not out of an acknowledgement of a size difference, it is because you do not see your ponies as equal to yourselves. For the first time in a very long time, I must wholeheartedly disagree with your concept of them. I have found my eyes open to your actions.

When Chrysalis invaded Canterlot, you ignored my warnings, and when the time came to redeem yourself you were unable to stop the queen. Furthermore, Princess Luna was entirely absent from the conflict. Neither you, nor your sister had in place a plan for succession in the event of incapacitation. Equestria was left leaderless.

Finally, the Tirek crisis. You employed possibly your oldest and most dangerous enemy to seek out another enemy. You failed to declare a state of emergency while Tirek was stealing magic. Possibly the most egregious and borderline incompetent action you have ever taken was the magic transfer. Instead of taking the fight to Discord and Tirek, you threw away your only weapon against them. You threw it at me, an inexperienced, unsure alicorn who didn't even know how to use her own power, much less that of the sun and moon.

It was nothing more than luck that allowed us to beat Tirek. You made sure of that.

After this and prior events, I can no longer say I find you, either of you, worthy of leading Equestria.

Declaration

Dear ponies of Equestria,

It has become evident to me that the current administration is wholly unfit for the positions we have found ourselves in. The princesses, though wise and honorable, are not worthy of leading the land they founded. Equestria has evolved beyond the three tribes, gone are the days of Clover the clever and Starswirl the Bearded. No longer are our largest foes each other, now they are ancient evils, external evils.

While it is true the Princesses have ushered in an era of peace and harmony, it is just as true that their inaction has ended it. Therefore, it is the opinion of the Equestrian citizenry, as well as my own, that the Princesses step down from power immediately.

If they refuse to give up the crown, then we will take it.

The time has come for ponies to rule themselves.

I, Princess Twilight Sparkle, formally declare the formation of the Republic of Equestria!

Dear My Little Ponies

Dear My Little Ponies,

It has recently come to my attention that some of you wish for me to abdicate, for the Privy Council to be the dominant power in Equestria.

Well, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm not giving up the crown. I have heard your pleas and found them wanting. Centuries ago, when the times got tough, we rallied behind our leader. We did not oust them.

The Law and Order League does have a good point however, I have sat by an allowed this temper tantrum to go on for far too long. I assumed this time would be the same. Ponies would eventually forget and move on, but now I see the truth. The ponies of Equestria are ungrateful for the centuries of peace I forged for them.

Is the common thought really that I did not have the nerve to intervene? Very well, I shall intervene. As of the moment I read this decree, the Law and Order League is officially disbanded, and anyone who further attempts to engage in civil disobedience will be put under arrest by the authority of the guard.

My once faithful student Twilight sparkle is to be stripped of the title of princess, and punished for this act of treason.

My final word on the matter is for those who claimed they will take the crown from my head.

Try.

-Princess Celestia, Ruler of Equestria
