> Sunset's Protégé > by TheKing2001 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter I > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I yawned slightly as I walked through my school, only pausing to say hi back to a few classmates or wave at those did so to me. I stopped at my locker as I sipped at my peppermint mocha coffee before opening my locker and setting the coffee on the top shelf as I hung up my backpack. “Mornin Sunset!” Applejack tipped her hat as she opened her locker a few spaces down and threw her own back pack inside. “How ya sleep?” “Not long enough,” I grumbled as I started stacking my books I’d need for the day. “Late night stream again?” Applejack asked with a knowing look as I yawned, nodding sheepishly. Live streaming was my main source of income and it’s a grind, it’s not easy work like everyone thinks. “Have ya eaten yet?” “Blueberry muffin from McDonald’s,” I answered. “And coffee from Biggbys. You girls got it lucky, we don’t have Biggbys back home.” Applejack only chuckled and nodded. The girls had long since gotten used to me saying stuff like that often. It was a running joke now in the group. “Ah shit!” I cursed loudly as I got a few confused looks. “I forgot to pick up donuts for after school for yearbook like I promised Wallflower I’d get the club.” Rarity had surprisingly offered Wallflower her position as club vice president and the girl had only agreed to it once we all sided with Rarity. Wallflower was nice once you got to know her. If you got her out of her shell at least like we did. “We can go after school, no biggie sugarcube,” Applejack patted my shoulder as I took another sip of coffee. “We should probably hurry, first hour is starting soon and Miss Cheerilee won’t let us be late again.” I winced slightly at that. Miss Cheerilee was a damn good teacher but was stern about people being late to class. There was a reason she was everyone’s favorite teacher. “You go ahead, I gotta go take a piss,” I said as Applejack gave me a frown. “Ya gonna be late,” she chided as I gave her a smug grin and reached into my locker. I held up a stack of stolen late passes from the office as AJ rolled her eyes. “Don’t get caught.” I nodded as she ran off with her history book tucked under her arm as I grabbed mine, slamming my door shut as I resisted the urge to dance and clamp my legs shut. “Hey,” a girl said behind me and I froze. I hadn’t heard her voice in months. “Diamond Tiara,” I breathed as I turned around to face her, my need to pee forgotten. The pink girl stood behind me with a wide smile as I gulped. “Ready to get back to taking over like we planned?” Diamond Tiara asked with a eager glint in her eyes. “W-what?” I asked in confusion. Diamond Tiara giggled and rolled her eyes. “Remember, me and you were meant to rule the school. I say we have waited long enough and earned their trust. Now it’s time to backstab them and work our way to the top. I know you, waiting for them to trust us was a very smart plan,” Diamond Tiara winked at me. “Diamond, there is no plan?” I said in confusion. “I’m happier now without ruling with an iron fist and fear. Why don’t you come sit with me at lunch today?” “I would but I’m busy drawing up plans for our revenge. I’ll come find you when I’m ready with a good one,” Diamond winked again and hugged my waist. “Good to be back in business.” I watched her walk away as I stared in confusion as she disappeared around a corner. “What the hell just happened?” I muttered to myself. People didn’t know that I had taken a secret student under my wing to help do dirty work that I couldn’t trust Snips and Snails with and that was Diamond Tiara. At the time, I had been impressed by her ruthlessness and she with mine. I had instantly taken her in to work alongside me. The two of us worked very well together, she helped make the video about Twilight when she first got here. Not even Snips and Snails knew about her. She watched them for me in case of any sign of betrayal and was the perfect spy. The rest of the school even thought she was on their side voting for Twilight when she was voting for me, swaying people over or in past years, adding extra votes in the ballot and removing ones that were against me. The perfect protégé. I had partially forgotten about her in all the chaos after the Fall Formal. But obviously she hadn’t forgotten about me or our plans to rule together. She was the only one who knew (and believed me at the time) about Equestria. I couldn’t tell anyone else, especially not my other two assistants because they are a bit loose lipped at times. I hadn’t entirely started her on her path, her mother was to blame for that. I just encouraged it and frankly, I’m still disgusted with myself that I did. Deep down, she’s just a nice confused girl trying to find her place in her world. Was I so different? A part of me wishes I could go back in time and fix this, but after the whole Time Twirler incident, I am more than happy to leave time alone. Fuck that. Those are at least five weeks of my life I’ll never get back. I inhaled as I quickly shook my head as I let out breath trying to figure out my next course of action. I mean, if I could reformed, then so could Diamond Tiara. After all, she seems lonely and confused like I said before. Did I mention nice? I owe it to her to help her change like I did. It would be nice to have her by my side once again but in a whole new meaning. Helping people, not causing grief and breaking up friendships. But first, I had to piss.
