> Trixie Shines in the Twilight > by Flameon_Heart > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Shining Beauty > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The schoolgrounds was a flurry of movement this Friday afternoon. It was the last day of school and creatures of all sorts were saying their Summer goodbyes and planning their fun antics. Every student said a personal goodbye to their teachers, and went on their way. One mare in particular was quite fond of the goodbyes. Trixie Lulamoon, the school counselor, was greeting students all afternoon and into the evening. The students adored their counselor and her (surprisingly) precise advice and help she would provide. When the final student left for the summer, Trixie locked up her office and headed for the front entrance. "Another year another great and powerful success!" Trixie giggled to herself. Trixie had always enjoyed working here at the School of Friendship. She liked helping every creature with their problems and being depended on; it filled her with a sense of pride different from her constant self-praise. She was lost in thought and didn't realize someone was coming from the other hall, and neither had they noticed her. Within seconds, the two collided, sending the books the mysterious figure was carrying in their magic to fly off in every direction. "Oww!" groaned Trixie. She looked up to see who she had ran into, only to see...her. Standing before Trixie was the dazed form of Princess Twilight Sparkle herself. Many years before that day, Trixie would have reacted repulsed, accusing Twilight of not looking where she was going and making a whole scene of it, but back then was not right now. "Twilight! Are you okay?!" she asked, in a concerned tone. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'll be okay." said Twilight. She dusted her hooves off and used her magic to pick up the books effortlessly. "What are you still doing here? AJ took everyone out for cider if you want to join them." she said cheerfully. Trixie replied, "No, I'm good. I was just cleaning up the office and saying final goodbyes to the students. What are you still doing here, your highness?" A smug grin appeared on Trixie's face with that little line. Twilight rolled her eyes. "Well if you must know, my little pony," she shot back another smug grin, "I was checking that everyone had left for the day before I lock up. We don't want a repeat of last year when that troublemaker Gilded Wing got locked inside, now do we?" Both mares giggled at the thought. Trixie looked at Twilight as she was laughing, and blushed a deep crimson. Luckily for her, Twilight didn't notice it. 'Twilight's laugh is so charming and cute' thought Trixie as she stared at the princess. For many years now, Trixie had developed a fondness for her former rival. From her magnificent mane to her beautiful purple eyes, Trixie had been smitten years after their rivalry ended. "Well Twilight, mind if we walk together?" Trixie asked innocently. "Sure, Trixie. I'd enjoy the company." said Twilight. Trixie blushed again, and this time, Twilight had noticed but said nothing. Unknown to Trixie, Twilight had developed feelings for her too. Twilight had admired Trixie's growth from her scandalous ways. Starlight and Sunburst (as well as her and the others) had really set her straight. She'd been so busy over the years with the school and the kingdom, that she had never had the chance to do the things she started to long for: Go on dates, get into relationships, and truly meet the one for her. "So, how was this year for you? Those kids didn't run you ragged with their constant friendship questions did they?" asked Trixie. "This year went really well! We had so many new students, and I've heard time and time again about your 'great and powerful' advice hehe." said Twilight. "Oh you have? Wha-what have the students said specifically?" asked Trixie curiously. "I've heard that you're caring, that you listen to their problems, and that you always help them find a solution. I admire your determination to see to it that our students feel safe and welcome to this school." said Twilight. The two mares had made it to the exit. While Twilight got the magic lock ready, Trixie was lost in thought again. 'This is it Lulamoon! If you don't ask now you'll miss your chance until the next school year. Just ask her out. Do it! The worst she could say is no, right? Actually, that would be the worst...' Trixie smiled weakly. "Hey Twilight uhm, I've wanted to ask you something for awhile now. It's kind of a silly request and I know you're gonna laugh at me but..." "What is it Trixie? I promise, I won't laugh. Please, tell me." Twilight stated with a warm smile. "I...was w-wondering if you and me c-could go on a...d-date? Trixie sputtered out, a deep maroon blush on her face. Twilight's heart skipped a beat at the question. 'Trixie wants to go on a date with, me?! Is this real?!' "I-I....wow. Are you serious? O-of course! I'd be happy to go on a date with you!" Twilight blurted out. "You would?! asked a bewildered Trixie. "Yes. I was actually planning on asking you the same thing heh. I've had a crush on you for quite some time now." Twilight beamed. "Y-you do?!" Trixie's heart raced a hundred miles a second. "Of course! You're fun, loyal, smart, and c-cute hehe. I'd love to go on a date with you, Trixie Lulamoon." Both mares' hearts soared. Trixie tackled Twilight with a massive *Ursai hug. "Thank you thank you thank you! You just made this mare's night!" said Trixie enthusiastically. "Okay okay, I get it ya goofball. I really like you too. Now, would you help me up after you tackled me, oh great and powerful one?" Twilight smirked. "O-Oh, of course. Sorry hehe." Trixie pulled Twilight to her hooves and then hugged her again, which Twilight reciprocated. "So, where would you want to go, and when? Maybe a fancy dinner, or a theater show perhaps?" Twilight didn't even need to think about the answer. "If it's with you, I don't really care what we do. How about we start tonight?" Trixie swooned. "Of course, your majesty. Let's get out of here and go have some fun." "Let us indeed." Twilight giggled, before planting a soft kiss on Trixie's forehead, which made Trixie collapse. After Trixie had regained her composure, she took Twilight's hoof in hers, and after locking up the school, they were off for a night of whimsey and romance... > Getting Ready > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight and Trixie were very excited for their first date. They had decided to go home and freshen up first however. It was around 7:30 P.M. when Trixie recounted the scene to her best friend Starlight Glimmer while she did her makeup in her trailer. "Ohhh I'm so proud of you! You and Twilight will make a great couple!" Starlight beamed, jumping for joy. Stop it Starlight, you're embarrassing Trixie!" Trixie said sheepishly. "But it's true! Twilight's one lucky mare to be going on a date with you." Starlight smiled at her best friend. "Thanks Starlight." Trixie trotted over to her closet and with her magic, grabbed garments at random, trying each on and judging what she should where. She settled on a nice blue dress with silver stars danced throughout its design. Trixie went behind a curtain to try it on. She also put on a pair of earrings Starlight had lent her. They were supposedly her mother's pair, but Starlight said it was fine for Trixie to use them. When Trixie stepped out from behind the curtain, Starlight whistled. "Trixie! You look gorgeous!" Starlight beamed. Trixie's final look was a sight to behold: The light blue dress, the earrings (which were heart-shaped), and her gold-tinted *horseshoes. She had put on a light blue eyeliner as well, which Starlight had insisted on. "You really think so? I just wanted to get this just right. I want this date to go well." Trixie said with a blush. "I'm sure it will go great, Trixie. May I ask where you are taking Twilight for your date?" asked Starlight. "Oh! You know that new place that opened up next to Sugarcube Corner? Apparently it's run by some mare named Saffron Masalla. It's not very fancy but from what I've heard from Pinkie, the mare is a culinary genius. I'm taking Twilight there and then a stroll through the park. It's going to be magical!" said Trixie, grinning from ear to ear. "Ooh, well I hope you two love birds have fun tonight, enjoy yourselves." said Starlight. "Thanks Starlight." Trixie applied a bit of blush before grabbing her purse and heading out the door toward the castle. ******************************************************************************************************** On the other side of Ponyville in the Castle of Friendship, Twilight was getting ready as well. Although, she wasn't as calm as her date. "SPIKE!! Have you seen my mane scrunchie?! I can't find it anywhere; or my lily scented perfume! Oh what am I gonna do!??" Twilight was in a frenzy, racing around the castle trying to get ready. Spike came flying into the hallway just to see Twilight dash into another. "Twilight, relax. Everything's going to be fine. Here's your scrunchie and perfume. They were in your room, remember?" "O-Oh, right hehe. I knew that." Twilight picked up the items in her magic and made her way to the massive hallway mirror. She brushed her mane and tail, added the scrunchie, and sprayed the perfume in "just the right spots", as she put it. Spike had been hiding around the corner, as to not spoil the final result for himself. "Okay, you can look now." Twilight called from around the corner. Spike flew around and what he saw made him gasp. Twilight had her mane tied back into a bun with a golden hairpin and the scrunchie. She had dark purple eyeliner and a pair of earrings in the shape of her cutie mark (a gift from Rarity). She wore a dark maroon dress (also a gift from Rarity), with violet streaks on each side heading from her naval to her hooves. The whole dress sparkled like stardust. To top it all off, she wore a necklace passed down from her mother and wore silver cufflinks on all four hooves. Spike looked at his sister in awe. "Wow, Twilight. You look beautiful! Hold on, I have to get a picture to send to the Shining!" Spike flew off to get the camera while Twilight rolled her eyes. Spike returned with the camera just as there was a knocked at the door. Twilight opened it to see Trixie standing there. When they saw each other their hearts leapt in their chests. "Hey." said Twilight. "Hey." said Trixie. They were both stunned by each other's beauty. Spike spoke up. "Alright you two lovebirds. Let me get a picture before you go." Twilight and Trixie both chuckled at the dragon and lined up shoulder to shoulder for a picture. Spike took 3 photos, and gave one of them two mares to look at. The other two he put in a nearby drawer. "You two look great! Oh Shining and Cadence are gonna freak when they see this! Alright, I won't keep you two any longer. Have fun tonight." he said. "Thanks Spike." the two mares said in unison. They all chuckled at the coincidence. The pair walked out the door and shut it behind them. After walking down the steps, Trixie linked her hoof in Twilight's, and they both headed out toward the restaurant. > Sparkling in the (Lula)Moonlight > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The two mares soon arrived at Saffron Masalla's Savory Saloon. Even from the outside the two could smell all sorts of food cooking. "Well, here we are! I've heard from Pinkie that this is the best restaurant in town." said Trixie enthusiastically. "Well, I trust Pinkie completely...even when I shouldn't hehe. Shall we head inside?" Twilight asked. "Certainly, your Highness." Trixie said with a flirtation tone, which made Twilight blush. 'Oh my Celestia why did I say that?!' Trixie thought. The inside was a whir of sights, sounds, and smells. The tables were lined with ponies: families, friend groups, and even couples were talking and laughing. Waiters moved to and fro between the rows of tables, carrying platters with food, drinks, and dishes. "Look at this place! I haven't seen so much life in a restaurant since I visited Saddle Arabia!" said Twilight. As Twilight was checking out the décor, Trixie was staring at Twilight. 'She's so cute when she's geeking out hehe' she thought. After walking through the small lobby, a mare walked up to the two and bowed before speaking. “Good evening, Princess, and to you too Ms. (Trixie). My name is Saffron Massalla. I am the Head-Chef of this restaurant and I will be your waiter for tonight. If you would both follow me, I will bring you to your table." Saffron smiled. "Of course, Ms. Massalla." said Twilight. The both of them followed Saffron through the middle rows of tables, all the while getting astonished (but otherwise happy) glances from the other patrons. Along the way, Saffron asked, "Princess, may I ask the occasion for you and your friend's visit this evening?" Twilight answered through a blush, "W-well...my friend Trixie here has asked me out on a d-date tonight, to which I happily o-obliged." Saffron turned to face the princess. Her eyes widened and a smile crossed her face. "Oh, that is just wonderful your Highness!" she almost screamed, although no one seemed to notice the outburst. Saffron soon led them to a medium-sized booth, with bench seats lined with purple silk and rose red colored bows. "Here we are. How about you two get seated while I go grab some menus?" she asked. "Of course, thank you." Trixie said. The two mares sat down in the booth and started to chat. "Oh, I'm so glad I finally asked you out! I've been nervous to ask for years now. I hope I can make this evening truly special." Trixie stated passively. Twilight giggled. "I'm glad too. You know, when I gave you the job as councilor, it was sort of a way for me to see you more often. I rarely get time off from my princess duties, and spending time at the school gives me so many memories from our younger years. It made me miss our interactions. So when I made Starlight headmare, I nudged her into giving you the idea of counseling, and the rest is history." Twilight giggled again. Trixie was in awe. Twilight had given her the amazing job she had, just to be close to her? Trixie smiled. "Well it worked out for the better I guess." Suddenly Saffron appeared beside them. "Here we are, two menus. Can I start you off with some freshly-made herbal tea? Free of charge." Saffron smiled. "That would be lovely." said Twilight. "Yes, gladly." said Trixie. "Two teas, coming up!" said Saffron enthusiastically. She then trotted off toward the back. "She has almost as much energy as Pinkie Pie. How is that possible?!" muttered Trixie. Trixie and Twilight perused the menus, and their mouths practically watered. As Saffron returned with the drinks, both mares looked up confidently. "So, have the two of you decided yet?" asked Saffron. Trixie said, "Yes, I will have the Haybor-Day Delight with a side of mild curry please." Twilight said, "And I will have the Filly-delphia Haymeal with long-cut fries, thank you." Trixie grabbed her bit bag and opened it, but was stopped by Saffron. " Oh no need to pay right now. You may pay after your meal. Your food will be ready soon." said Saffron. Trixie chuckled slightly and set her bag back down. Saffron trotted off toward the kitchen to prepare their orders. Twilight and Trixie were again alone together in their little booth. Neither could think of what to say, until Trixie broke the ice with some small talk. They chatted about the school, the castle, and Ponyville in general. Trixie learned of the many things that Twilight had done that year in Canterlot while Twilight got to know how Trixie was doing as the school's councilor. Within minutes, Saffron came through the double doors carrying two platters in her magic. "Here we are! The Haybor-Day Special with curry and the Filly-delphia Haymeal with fries. Please, enjoy your meal, and feel free to flag me down if you need anything." Saffron said as she bowed to them both. The mares eyes seemed to pop out of their heads. It all looked so good! They thanked Saffron before starting their meals. --------------------30 minutes later-------------------- Trixie and Twilight had been talking and laughing the whole meal. They were completely satisfied with their night. Trixie stared lovingly at Twilight, and the princess reciprocated the look. Saffron trotted over as Trixie waved a hoof in the air. "Ah, I presume everything was to your liking?" she asked. "Very much so. Thank you for the wonderful food Ms. Massalla." said Twilight. "Of course princess. Let me go get the bill. I also have a little surprise for you and your date. I'll just be a moment." Saffron trotted toward the front desk while Trixie prepared her bit bag. "Oh, I can't allow you to pay for my meal." Twilight said. Trixie smirked. "But it was I who asked you out wasn't it? I should be the one to pay for my date." Twilight looked like she was about to rebut that, but then she stopped and scrunched her muzzle. Saffron returned with the bill and 2 small white boxes. "Here you are Ms. Trixie. The meals come out to be a total of 8 bits." Trixie levitated 8 bits out of her bag and placed them on the table. "Excellent, thank you for your patronage. Before you two head out, I've decided to give you both a little gift. Have a slice of our Red Velvet cake on the house. My treat!" Twilight and Trixie took a box each in their magic and placed them in their bags. "Thank you Ms. Massalla. I hope you have a great rest of your night." said Trixie. "As do you and her Highness. Come back anytime." Saffron said. Twilight and Trixie walked out into the brightly lit street. "I had a wonderful night with you Trixie." Twilight said, before leaning down and planting a kiss on Trixie's cheek. Trixie blushed before swooping in for a risky play; a kiss on the lips. Trixie hit it home, locking lips with the alicorn, who almost jumped back in surprise. It didn't take long for the bigger pony to reciprocate the kiss, making it last several romantic seconds. Finally the two separated, and looked at each other. Hearts practically formed in their eyes. Twilight was the first to break the silence. "Wow....that was just....wow. That was extraordinary!" Trixie's mind was racing. She had just did that; she had just kissed the ruler of Equestria and her crush. Trixie snapped out of it to hear Twilight humming with delight. "Y-yeah, it was pretty great hehe. You just make me feel so...happy. I had to show it anyway I could." Twilight leaned in a kissed Trixie again. "Thank you, for this wonderful evening. You wouldn't want to walk me home would you?" Trixie blushed, then smiled warmly. "Of course your Majesty. Please, let me accompany my marefriend home." Trixie said with an accent, holding out her hoof. Twilight giggled and took Trixie's hoof in hers. As the gentle night breeze blew through the air, the two ponies walked hoof in hoof toward the Friendship castle. Both mares knew that whatever came next in their story of romance, they would face it together. > Bonus Epilogue: Years Later.... > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The castle courtyard was silent. Not a bird, nor squirrel, nor pony for that matter could be heard. The courtyard was lined with chairs, ten rows of seven each. Ponies occupied them all. The chairs were situated under a big awning set up in the courtyard. The ponies were all dressed to a tee, for this was a very special occasion. This was the marriage ceremony between Twilight Sparkle and Trixie Lulamoon. It seemed the whole town of Ponyville was there to witness what was soon to occur. The Elements along with Starlight and Sunburst sat on the left in the front row, with Twilight's and Trixie's families in the next. An extra chair materialized out of thin air next to Fluttershy. It rose into the air and suddenly gained a very peculiar guest. Discord floated to the ground before speaking, "Oh I just love watching a good show, don't you?" Fluttershy stared daggers at the Lord of Chaos. "Discord..." Fluttershy muttered through clenched teeth. "You had better behave yourself. Today is our friends' special day. No magic or shenanigans of any kind, you hear me?" she asked asked assertively. Discord said nothing, and with a slight smile he snapped his fingers and teleported him and his chair next to hers. Trixie stood at the altar onstage in a beautiful white bridal gown sewn together by Rarity, who had also made Twilight's wedding gown. Glancing at Starlight, Trixie could see tears of joy welling up in her eyes. Trixie smiled beneath the veil. Starlight had walked her down the isle, and was her best mare, so of course she'd be the one to cry first. Mayor Mare walked up to the center of the stage and held out a megaphone. "Everyone, it is time. I would like for the best mares and best stallions to come up and stand on stage if you'd please." she said. Mayor Mare stepped to the side as Shining Armor, Starlight, and Spike stepped up and took their positions. As the choir started to play, the CMC started down the middle aisle, tossing flowers in their wake. Out from behind the trio came the second bride to be. Twilight, in her velvet-colored hoof-sewn dress and veil, was lead down the aisle by her father Night Light. Tears threatened to enter his eyes but he held them back. He walked her slowly to the stage before returning to his seat. Both mares faced each other onstage, still covered by the veils. Spike came up and handed Mayor Mare the pillow with the two rings placed upon it. She took her position just to the side of the two mares. "Without further ado, let us begin." she said. "Do you, princess Twilight Sparkle, take this mare to be your lawfully wedded wife? Do you promise to cherish her, to love her with all your heart? To have and to hold her, in sickness and in health, 'till death do ye part?" Twilight smiled. "I do!" Twilight took one ring and slipped it onto Trixie's horn. Mayor Mare continued. "And do you, Trixie Lulamoon, take this mare to be your lawfully wedded wife? Do you promise to cherish her, to love her with all your heart? To have and to hold her, in sickness and in health, 'till death do ye part?" Trixie smiled too. "I do!" Trixie took the remaining ring and placed it on Twilight's horn. Mayor Mare lifted both the brides veils and said, "Then with the power invested in me by the Town of Ponyville, I now pronounce you mare and wife! You may now kiss the brides!" Both mares leaned in and had a passionate kiss! The audience exploded with applause. Pinkie's party cannons went off on each side of the stage, spraying confetti and streamers into the air. The Elements were whistling; Shining, Cadence, and Flurry were leaking liquid pride; and the rest of Ponyville was ecstatic! Trixie and Twilight finally let up for air after several seconds and nuzzled each other. They walked down the aisle to the other side of the courtyard where the crowd had wandered off to. Both mares decided it would be fun to toss two bouquets. Trixie's went to Starlight and Twilight's went to Fluttershy, surprisingly. Everypony seemed to be having a grand old time. The newly weds sat together at their own special table in the center of the courtyard. "Today was absolutely magical!!" shouted Trixie. "Every day with you is already magical, dear. I hope you realize that." Twilight said lovingly. Trixie looked at her with the same loving expression. The two mares shared another kiss and an "I love you" before standing up and heading for the dance floor. Trixie and Twilight awkwardly (though lovingly) danced into the night. The future for these two love doves seemed brighter than ever, and they lived happily ever since. The End
