Pipp Pipp Hooray
Opaline sat upon her throne as she waited for Misty's latest progress report. She started to tap her hoof impatiently as she said to herself, "Breathe girl, you spent over a thousand years locked out of Equestria all together thanks to the Shimmer Bubble, and Misty has only been working on this for a few months now. Just have to keep your patience and everything will work out in the end."
As she tried to calm herself she suddenly heard the door open as she heard Misty begin to stammer, "I'm sorry I took so long Opaline."
Quickly, she put on a cocky smile as she said, "Please Misty, surely you know someone as mighty as me doesn't lack something as basic as patience," before letting out a hearty chuckle.
"Oh... I didn't mean to say," began Misty only to be stopped as Opaline raised a hoof.
"If we have to stop every time you need to apologize to me we'll be doing this all day, please just get on with it Misty," said Opaline.
"Oh sorry," said Misty before sighing as she approached the throne holding a bag saying, "I wasn't particularly able to get any info on Sunny or the Unity Crystals this time but I do think I found a way for you to keep tabs on them yourself."
"Oh," said Opaline excitedly as she asked, "Did you get Sunny to start using the mirror again?" She thought to herself, "My mistake was playing my hoof too early, I know now that if I want to get her to join me it needs to be gradually, a little lie here manipulation their and she'll be bringing the magic right to me!"
"No, she's still freaked out by it, but I did stop by the electronics store and got you this!" said Misty as she finally got the new phone out of the bag and handed it to her.
Opaline cocked her head as she said, "This is one of those 'phone' devices that ponies are using now yes?"
"Yup, a Stable Phone S3 to be specific, the latest model and I already signed you up for the unlimited data plan," said Misty excitedly.
Opaline smiled at her, not sure what those words meant though, as she said, "Not that I don't appreciate this gift Misty, but how exactly will this help me learn about Sunny and the Crystals?"
Misty reached over to the phone as she said, "Through this," as she tapped one of the apps resulting in an image of Princess Pipp Petals popping up.
The video then began to play as Pipp simply yawned saying, "Hey Pippsqueaks, sorry but it's just a quick video tonight. It's been a long day in the recording studio and I just want to say that the new album is coming along nicely-"
Opaline's eyes widened as she said, "This is Princess Pipp Petals!"
Misty nodded as she said, "Yup, in addition to being a Princess she's a social media star and posts and live streams on here almost every day. It's not always about magic but I thought you might want to see what she and the others are up to."
"Indeed... though this device feels so small and flimsy compared to the magic mirror... I can't imagine ponies would be using something like this for much longer now that magic is back," said Opaline as she poked the small device.
"I'm not so sure about that... it's pretty ingrained in their society, but don't worry about breaking it I got you a one year protection plan so if anything does happen you get a brand new one with the same plan at no charge," said Misty excitedly.
Opaline smiled once again as she said, "Ah well thank you again Misty... although you seem much more excited for this device then I, are you sure you don't want to hold onto it and simply tell me any pertinent information you gleam from it?"
Misty shook her head as she said, "Don't worry, they were having a two for one deal so I got one for myself too," as she pulled another phone out of the bag.
"Ah, well thank you again Misty, now then as Pipp said it is getting rather late you should probably turn in," said Opaline.
"Are you sure? I could show you more about how the phone works," offered Misty.
"It's fine, I'm sure I can figure it out for myself, besides I think I'll turn in soon too, after all evil needs its beauty sleep too," said Opaline as she gestured towards her face and flexed her wings to accentuate her beauty.
Misty smiled as she said, "Of course Queen Opaline, goodnight," before heading towards her quarters.
"Goodnight Misty," said Opaline before looking down at the phone as she began to scroll through the videos as she said, "This seems simple enough, though I'm not sure what useful information I can get from it." Suddenly a new notification popped up on it as Opaline read it aloud saying, "Late Night Brain Rot livestream.... what on Earth does that mean?!?"
She tapped it out of curiosity as she was soon greeted too a tired looking Pipp saying, "Hi again Pippsqueaks I know I said just a quick update today but I can not for the life of me fall asleep, got a few weird thoughts and questions rattling in my brain so I figured I'd share them with you all, first off why are Cutie Marks only on one of our flanks, why not both and does it mean something different if it appears on the left or right?"
Opaline blinked as she said, "Hum," before looking down at her own Cutie Mark as she said, "Why is that?"
Misty yawned as she walked into the castle's kitchen getting ready to pour herself a bowl of cereal only to have her eyes opened wide as she suddenly smelled a delicious aroma.
Opaline looked towards her saying, "Oh good morning Misty, I hope you're hungry because I found this omelette recipe on Pipp's blog that I just had to try."
"Oh wow thanks Opaline I-" she stopped as soon as she noticed the bags under Opaline's eyes as she said, "Um... did you sleep OK last night?"
Opaline suddenly blushed as she said, "Well I admit I may have stood up kind of late on the new phone, thank you again by the way," as she put the omelette on the plate.
Misty was ready to say that maybe she shouldn't have done that but upon taking a bite of this omelette she instantly stopped as she began to wolf it down saying, "Send me the link to that recipe and we'll call it even."
"Of course," said Opaline as she pulled out her phone and sent it before saying, "In the meantime I can still look my best thanks to one of Pipp's makeup tutorials."
Misty nodded as she finished her food saying, "Sounds good, I'm gonna head over to Maretime Bay and get some recon done," as she thought to herself, "It's fine, she's just excited because it's new."
Immediately after Misty left the room though Pipp's livestream came up as she said, "Morning Pippsqueaks and for today's morning makeup tutorial I think we're going with a smokey eye shadow and glitter gloss, but first I gotta give a shout out to my newest subscriber Queen Opaline, fist off fierce name girl, secondly thanks again for keeping me company for the whole stream last night."
Opaline suddenly bounced on her hooves giddily as she said, "She said my name!"
That night
Misty walked into the throne room as she began saying, "Queen Opaline I-"
"Not now Misty," said Opaline as she was typing away on her phone.
Suddenly Misty heard Pipp's voice say, "Queen Opaline asks 'why are some Pegasi's feathers the same color as their mane but others it matches their coat?' lady you are tuned into the same kind of brain rotting insomnia as me because I was just about to say the same thing!"
Opaline giggled as she said, "We are totes on the same page!"
Misty looked slightly concerned as she said, "You seem busy, we can talk later."
"OK, goodnight Misty, Pipp Pipp Hooray!" said Opaline.
Misty walked to her room saying, "It's only the second day, this isn't bad."
The next day.
Misty walked towards the kitchen sniffing the air as she said, "She didn't make Pipp's omelettes today, that's a good sign... though I am kind of craving them." Just as she began thinking about making them herself she opened the door and saw Opaline eating cereal, while wearing Pipp Petals branded t-shirt, hat, and socks.
"Morning Misty," said Opaline, eating as she was watching one of Pipp's older videos.
"Morning Opaline," said Misty as she approached saying, "So um... your clothes."
"Oh you like them," said Opaline as she said, "That's good because after finding just how comfy and cute they are I ordered some for you."
"Yeah... does this have anything to do with defeating them and stealing their magic though?" asked Misty.
"Oh that... yeah, it's part of my grand plan that I'll tell you later," said Opaline as she waved a hoof away before saying, "OH I didn't see these adorable wing cozies, gonna have to get a pair of these too."
One week later.
"Opaline, we need to talk," said Misty.
"What about?" said Opaline as she drank from her Pipp Petals mug, snuggled into her Pipp Petals throw blanket, and leaned against the giant Pipp Petals poster that covered most of the wall behind her throne.
"It's about the Pipp Petals merch," said Misty.
Opaline waved a dismissive hoof saying, "It's not that much," only for her phone to go off saying, "You have 30 packages out for delivery." Opaline blushed saying, "Well maybe it is a bit much but it's not like it even puts a dent in my Royal Treasury."
"Maybe so but... well you haven't really been talking about conquering Equestria and stealing magic since you started getting into Pipp's content," said Misty.
"Well... like I said this all a part of my master plan too... too...." said Opaline before yelling, "ALRIGHT! THERE IS NO PLAN! I just love her content so much, she's so nice and we think a lot of the same things!"
"I know she's nice Opaline, and I wouldn't have said this before but the way things are now, yeah you two would probably get along really well," said Misty.
At this Opaline jumped out from under her blanket as she said, "Oh my hoofness! I forgot that you've met her in person, could you please please please introduce us!?"
Misty backed away as she said, "Well I guess I could but..."
"But what?" asked Opaline.
"Well I don't think you two will get along that well when she finds out you want everyone's magic and to rule over them," said Misty.
"Oh... yeah that is true," said Opaline as she raised a hoof to her face.
Misty sighed as she said, "Opaline, you've been like a mother to me so no matter what I'll support you but, I mean you have to have known I wasn't totally comfy with being evil."
"I understand Misty and you know that I've thought of you as a daughter, which is why I tried to limit your involvement in my evil plans just... I'm not sure what to do here," said Opaline.
"It is a big decision," said Misty.
"So either my plan to rule the world as an all powerful Alicorn Goddess that I've been working on for over a thousand years or being friends with Pipp Petals.... I think I know what I need to do," said Opaline with a determined look in her eyes.
As Pipp sat at Mane Melody she suddenly heard the door open as she turned to see a familiar face and said, "Oh Misty, what up girl?"
Misty shrugged as she said, "Not much, but I do have someone who's eager to meet you."
"Of course, always happy to meet a fan and ahhh," said Pipp before suddenly finding herself lost for words as the tall Alicorn giddily pranced through the door.
"Hi Princess Pipp Petals, I hope this doesn't seem stalkery but I love all your videos, I'm Queen Opaline," said Opaline before being interrupted.
Pipp walked towards her as she said, "Hold on, the same Queen Opaline who's been like totally in sync with me on all my livestreams lately!"
Opaline nodded as Pipp said, "OH MY HOOFNESS! I was hoping to meet you at my next convention, but this is even better!"
"Really!?" said Opaline excitedly.
"Absolutely, hang on," she turned to two ponies behind the counter as she said, "Jazz, Rocky, think you can squeeze Misty and my new friend Opaline in to have a full Pamper Day appointment with me."
"Of course, Princess," said Jazz.
Rocky then approached Opaline saying, "Come this way miss and oh, while I dig the color combo that mane style is just a touch out of date."
"Is it, sorry I haven't been to a salon in over a millennia," said Opaline as Rocky went wide eyed.
Misty sat down as Pipp pulled out her phone and wrote a group text to her friends saying, "So that evil Alicorn Twilight warned us about, I don't think we need to worry about her anymore."
