> Pokémon: Fire Ruby > by MechaTomX > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Beginning of a Journey > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- We welcome you to the Pokémon world. A wonderful land of adventure and excitement where strange and fascinating creatures called Pokémon live, they come in different sizes and inhabit all kinds of places, from the highest mountains, the driest deserts and even the deepest seas. In this world, humans and Pokémon have lived in harmony for years, from working, having fun or training, the bond between a Pokémon and its trainer is something magical. In this world there are different regions where different Pokémon live, from the neighboring regions, Kanto and Johto, the sea region, Hoenn, the northernmost region, Sinnoh, the furthest region, Unova, among others such as Kalos, Alola, Galar or Paldea. But our story is set in a unique region, the Equestria Region. In this, you can find Pokémon from all of the other regions and that same year an event that the other regions had was about to be inaugurated, but for Equestria it was something new, even in Alola it was also recent, an event that would decide who would be the strongest Pokémon trainer in the region, the Pokémon League. This is the story of a young trainer, who, with the help of his Pokémon, will become the very best, like no one ever was. Our story begins in the city of Canterlot, precisely in the room of a 13-year-old boy, who was wearing a yellow shirt with a drawing of a dragon, he wore gray jeans, and purple tennis shoes, he had a spiky green hair, his skin was a lilac tone and his eyes were emerald green. The boy's attention was directed to the television in his room, in which there was a kind of battle arena where 2 Pokémon were fighting, one was a Pokémon that looked like a blue bipedal canine with a thorn in its chest and another looked like a kind of two swords and shield that floated. From the television, the guy who was commenting on the battle could be heard, “The battle is very intense, Lucario has everything to lose because the Fighting type is useless against the Ghost type, Shining Armor's Aegislash may be the winner.” “Alright, keep it up Shining,” said the boy who was watching the battle from his room, “Aegislash is a Ghost type, you can win this one.” The battle reached an incredible moment, Lucario continued to dodge Ageislash's thrusts. But at that moment. “Now Springer, he's in his Blade Forme,” said Lucario's trainer, who was a boy who looked about 17 years old, wearing a black jacket and a white shirt with the emblem of a shield with a lightning bolt in the center, he wore blue pants and black sneakers, his hair was an electric blue color combed back, his skin was yellow and his eyes were blue, “Don't let him escape, Bone Rush.” “LUCARIOOOO,” his Pokémon shouted, which generated a bone made of energy between its paws, and with that thing, it attacked Aegislash, the blow was so strong that it raised the dust on the field, making the commentator not take his eyes off. “What an incredible blow from Lucario, that bone must have hurt, will this be the end of Aegislash?” When the dust cleared, Aegislash was seen on the ground, who was not moving, the guy acting as the referee raised a red flag, “Aegislash is unable to battle, the winner is Lucario.” The audience was surprised, there were screams of excitement and several applauses. “Very good Springer,” Lucario's trainer celebrated, while his Pokémon smiled and raised his thumb in approval. “This is incredible,” the commentator said, “Flash Sentry has left Shining Armor with only one Pokémon left, we couldn't expect anything less from the strongest gym leader of Equestria.” “Come on Shining, don't let him beat you,” said the purple-skinned boy who was watching it on television. At that moment someone was heard knocking on his door. KNOCK KNOCK. “Come in,” the boy said. The door opened and a woman entered the room who had light gray skin, moderate purple and lighter gray striped hair, light arctic blue eyes, and she wore a lighter gray long sleeve shirt underneath a gray sweater vest over a red shirt, a purple three star necklace, reddish violet cropped khakis, and dark reddish violet ballet flats, her name was Twilight Velvet, she smiled at him, “I see that you are sending your cheers to Shining.” “Yes, mom,” the boy nodded to the woman who was his mother, “Shining is a great trainer, but the Crystal Empire's Gym Leader is giving him a hard fight.” His mother smiled at him again, “But you know, your brother won't go down that easily.” She sat next to him to watch the battle on television. Suddenly, Aegislash's trainer was shown, a young man of about 20 years old, who had white skin, his hair was long and bright blue, he wore a black shirt as well as a purple cape, his pants were black in color and wore black boots, it was clear that that trainer was Shining Armor, who took out a kind of red and white ball with which he generated a red beam which absorbed Aegislash, he smiled at him, "You did very well Aegislash, now take a break.” He looked at his rival, Flash Sentry, the Gym Leader of the Crystal Empire, he smiled, "You're very strong Flash, you really surprised me." “Thank you Shining, Springer and I have always thought about surpassing you,” Flash responded as his Lucario nodded, “LUCARIOOO.” “But you will need much more to defeat a member of the Elite Four,” Shining Armor responded as he took out another red and white ball, this one he threw, “Regigigas, I choose you.” From that ball appeared a huge Pokémon that could not be described, Flash and his Pokémon, far from feeling intimidated, smiled at the exciting fight that lay ahead. Several minutes later. Lucario fell to the ground, but without losing his look of determination, but it was obvious that he could no longer continue. “Lucario cannot continue fighting, the victory goes to Regigigas,” announced the referee who then pointed to Shining Armor, “The winner of this battle is Shining Armor.” The audience went crazy, causing the stadium to fill with applause and shouts of excitement. Flash Sentry approached his Lucario, he smiled at him, “You fought through everything Springer, you deserve a break.” He took out a red and white ball from which lightning came out which absorbed Lucario. Shining Armor approached the Gym Leader, offered his hand for a handshake, “You are very strong, I expect a lot from you and your gym.” Flash smiled and gladly accepted the handshake, “My goal is to get stronger and when I polish my skills, I will challenge you again.” The commentator spoke, “Wonderful, that was one of the best exhibition battles between a Gym Leader and a member of the Elite Four, there will be a trainer who can defeat them in the future?” “Yes, yes there will be,” the boy said excitedly as he watched the television, “And that will be me, Spike, I will become the strongest Pokémon trainer in Equestria and I will be at the top.” Twilight Velvet liked the excitement that her son felt, since he was very little, he was eager to be a Pokémon trainer, and now he was finally the appropriate age, when a boy or girl turns 13, they are allowed to receive a starter Pokémon from the Pokémon Researcher and the strongest member of the Elite Four, Professor Celestia. Just then a man entered the room, he had darker blue skin, dark phthalo blue hair, moderate amber eyes, and he wore a blue striped flannel shirt with an orange tie underneath a navy blue sweater, and had grayish blue khakis, and black business sneakers, that was his father, Night Light. But he was not alone, on his shoulder was a Pokémon that looked like a little orange bird with a reddish tone, it was clearly a Fletchling, a Flying-type Pokémon from the Kalos Region. “Are you excited for tomorrow Spike?” Night Light asked him. “Of course I am, Dad, I'm going to become a Pokémon trainer after all,” Spike replied excitedly. At that moment his father's Fletchling flew towards him and rested on his shoulder. Spike smiled and ruffled his beak, “Isn't that cool Peewee? I will travel all over Equestria, this is exciting.” “Fletch, flecth,” responded the Fletchling whose name was Peewee. “And we are sure that you will be a very powerful trainer,” Velvet told him, then she kissed him on the forehead, “But to do it you will have to arrive early tomorrow.” Spike looked at the clock and realized that it was already 11 pm, “Oh right, I think I'll go to sleep.” Spike proceeded to turn off the lights and lay down on his bed. “Good night Spike,” his parents said at the same time, before leaving. Before going to sleep, Spike imagined what his trip would be like, full of adventure and excitement, something he had always wanted to experience after hearing the great stories of his brother Shining Armor, he also remembered when his older sister was given her first Pokémon and she went on her own trip, and both trips had good results, Shining became a member of the Elite Four and Twilight a Professor, he also hoped to become someone great, at that moment sleep invaded him and he proceeded to fall asleep. The next morning. In the center of Canterlot, there was a huge mansion, it was Professor Celestia's research laboratory. Spike was standing in front of the laboratory, the young man was now wearing an unbuttoned green shirt and was wearing green fingerless gloves, a smile formed on his face, so he decided to knock on the door. Inside the lab in one of the larger rooms of the laboratory, which was a library, we find a 17 year young girl sitting at a desk reading a large book. She had light violet skin and dark purple hair with a pink streak running through it, that was tied up in a ponytail, she wore a blue blouse under a pink vest, with a pink bow around her neck, a dark purple skirt with a pink star pattern was equipped to her body, along with blue knee high socks and purple shoes, a pair of thick black glasses adorned her face, making it difficult to see her purple eyes, she also wore a lab-coat over it all. The girl read her book with a smile on her face, obviously enjoying whatever subject she was reading about as she subconsciously flicked her fringe to get some loose strands away from her eyes. Suddenly, the door to the library opened and in stepped a woman with white skin, and hair with multiple colours in it, she wore a gold jacket over a white and purple shirt, along with purple pants, she also wore a lab-coat over it all, this woman was, Professor Celestia also a member of the Elite Four. The Professor smiled at the girl with glasses, “Twilight, he's here.” Twilight's ears reacted, she stopped paying attention to the book she was reading, she looked at the Professor, “Its today?” “That's right, today is the day your little brother will become a Pokémon trainer, and he'll need your guidance to be ready,” Celestia responded with a smile. With great excitement, Twilight Sparkle stood up from the desk with a smile, "Wow, I know today is the day, but I feel like time passed very quickly, I can still remember him as the tender boy who dreamed of being a Pokémon Master." “And his dream will come true if he tries hard,” Celestia told her, “Come on, I'll need your help to be able to register him in the Pokémon League in addition to giving him his Starter Pokémon.” Twilight smiled and nodded. "Of course, I'll get right on it, Spike will like the Pokémon we have available today." Twilight Sparkle had always been a student of Professor Celestia, but when she finished her Pokémon adventure and obtained her doctorate, she decided to be her assistant thinking that she still had a lot to learn, not only from a Professor, but from a member of the Elite Four. After a few minutes of waiting at the door, Spike was greeted by Professor Celestia who greeted him with a smile, “Spike, it's nice to see you.” “The pleasure is all mine, Professor,” Spike said politely. Celestia invited Spike to enter the laboratory, inside it, there were huge hallways, after walking for a while, they arrived at the central area of the laboratory, where Spike was greeted by his older sister, Twilight. “Spike,” said Twilight who ran over to Spike to give him a big hug. “It's nice to see you Twilight,” said Spike who hugged her back. “Hey, new trainers usually call me Professor Twilight,” she told him seriously. Spike gulped, he didn't expect Twilight to take it so seriously. But at that moment, Twilight smiled at him and hugged him tighter, “But you are the exception.” “Dawww, this is so adorable,” said Professor Celestia who was watching them, this made the two break the hug. “Oh right, what did you come for,” Twilight told him, pointing to a table. On that table there were 3 red and white balls, that place was special because there, the trainers would meet their future partners on their travels. “Okay Spike, the Pokémon we have today are from the Hoenn Region,” Twilight told him. “That's so cool,” Spike responded excitedly, of course he really liked Pokémon like Charmander, Snivy or Totodile but he didn't deny that the Hoenn Pokémon were just as cool. “You can choose the Water type, Mudkip,” Twilight said as she threw the ball into the air and out of it appeared a blue Pokémon that looked like an axolotl, "Mud mudkiip." “The Grass type, Treecko,” Twilight said as she threw the ball into the air and out of it appeared a green Pokémon that looked like a gecko, "Treecko treee." “Or the Fire-type, Torchic,” Twilight said as she threw the ball into the air and out of it appeared a red Pokémon that looked like a chicken, "Tor torchick." Spike didn't think about it for a second, he approached Treecko and spoke to him, “What do you say buddy? Would you like to be my partner?” Treecko looked at him without saying anything for several seconds, but then a smile formed on his face, “Treecko Tree.” Celestia smiled, “Treecko seems to like you, now come with me.” Spike followed her to an area in the laboratory where there was a camera. “Hold still,” Twilight said as she took a photo of Spike, the flash nearly blinding him, “Everything's ready.” “Your information has been recorded in the Pokémon League Database,” Celestia told him as she typed Spike's information into the database. Immediately afterwards, Celestia gave Spike a strange device which was red in color, it looked like a kind of mix between a phone and a portable console, "This is your Pokedex, it will be your ID as a Pokémon trainer in addition to giving you information about each Pokémon you saw in your journey.” “Thank you,” Spike thanked as he took the Pokedex. Spike smiled at this, as he pocketed the Pokedex, while he did this, Twilight walked up to him, with five small red and white balls in her hands, "Here Spike, these are your Pokeballs, to capture any Pokémon you want." “Oh, and don't forget Treecko's Pokeball,” Celestia told him as she handed him an extra Pokeball. “Alright, very good Treecko, let's start this great adventure,” Spike said to his new partner as he pressed a button on the Pokeball, a red beam came out of it which absorbed Treecko inside it. “Good luck, brother,” Twilight Sparkle told him. But Spike didn't just respond verbally, he approached Twilight and hugged her, "I'll make you proud of me, sister." Twilight was touched and kept the hug for almost a minute. Meanwhile, in Draconia City. It showed a kind of ruined building, inside it there was a kind of gang, all the members dressed in black shirts with a white drawing of a dragon, black pants or shorts, and black boots. There, a girl entered who seemed to be the same age as Spike, she had spiky purple hair, orange skin and indigo eyes, like everyone else, she wore the same outfit as everyone present, "Hey, Team Draco, our leader has returned from the Kanto Region.” This made many of the members pay attention to her, that's when someone else entered the room, it was a boy of about 16 years old, he wore a similar outfit, but with more accessories, he had red skin, thorny orange hair and dark purple eyes. The group was excited by the arrival of their leader, “Yeah Garble is back.” “I'm back, and I find out that this pathetic region will finally have its Pokémon League,” said the boy who was the leader, “Haha, this will be easy, all of Equestria will have to recognize its new champion, the great Garble.” “Thank you for everything, I promise to give my all to the Pokémon League,” Spike thanked Professors Celestia and Twilight. “We know you do, Spike,” Twilight Sparkle told him with a smile. “Remember Spike, that in order to participate in the Pokémon League you must have 8 gym badges, which you will obtain by defeating the Gym Leaders of the different cities of Equestria,” Celestia told him, “But I think you already know that.” Spike nodded with a smile, thinking about the bigger battles that would be in store for him in the future, this time it was his time. “Alright, time to start my journey,” Spike said as he ran off. “Wait,” Twilight yelled, making Spike slip. “Gahhh.” “I think you should go to Mom and Dad,” Twilight Sparkle told him, “They told me they have something for you before you start your trip, after all, you don't want to leave without your backpack.” “Oh, right, my backpack,” Spike said as he headed to his parents' house to say goodbye before starting his journey across Equestria. > New Friends > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike had arrived home before starting his journey through Equestria, he knocked on the door and was greeted by his parents. “Hello Spike, I see that you are already prepared, but you will still need many things for your trip,” his mother told him as she handed him a purple backpack with the draw of a flame in the middle, “Here you have everything you need to travel around the region.” “Awesome, thanks mom,” Spike thanked as he placed the backpack on his back. “And that's not all,” approached his father who had Peewee on his shoulder, “You will need help on your journey.” Spike looked at them confused, he didn't know what they were referring to. Night Light addressed Peewee, “Peewee, Spike will need your guidance and your power on his path to being the strongest trainer in Equestria, would you like to help and protect him on his journey?” Spike's eyes widened with emotion, as a child he had always been so close to his father's Fletchling, he even named him Peewee, but he never expected something like this. “Fletch fletchlinng,” Peewee said nodding with a smile on his face. "Then it's decided," Night Light said and at that moment, Peewee flew up and landed on Spike's shoulder, "Spike, from now on, Peewee will be your Pokémon, if you agree." “I really don't know what to say,” Spike responded as he petted Peewee, at which point he walked over to his parents to give them a big hug, “I'm going to miss you.” “We will miss you too, it won't be the same without you,” Twilight Velvet replied without breaking the hug. “We wish you the best of luck,” Night Light told him. The hug lasted a few seconds, after that, Spike said goodbye to his parents, and proceeded to start his adventure, "Come on Peewee, we have a region to explore." “Fltechling,” Peewee nodded just as excitedly. Velvet and Night all waved at Spike and Peewee, who waved back as they got further and further away. As he walked through the streets of Canterlot with Peewee on his shoulder, Spike took out a map from his backpack, “The closest city is Ponyville, I think there is a train that can take us there.” “Fletchling,” Peewee agreed. “What do you mean that the train will not be available for several weeks?” Spike asked the guy in charge of the train station in Canterlot. “Sorry kid,” the guy apologized, “But there was a problem on the tracks that prevents the train from moving forward, but they are already repairing them.” “Oh,” Spike responded, understanding the situation, but a little discouraged, he retreated. “Thanks anyway.” After several seconds, Spike sat on a bench thinking about what he should do. “Well, I won't wait weeks just to go to Ponyville, I'll have to take another route.” But his thoughts were interrupted when he heard a girl screaming. "WAIT, DO NOT GO." Spike turned around and saw a girl his age approaching him, and she was running, her skin was pink, she had scarlet eyes, she wore a white dress, black sneakers, she had a backpack with a drawing of a chess tower, but what the most outstanding thing about that girl was her light blue hair which was styled with many curls. “WAIT JUST A SECOND,” the girl shouted. Spike's pupils shrank as he realized the girl was heading straight for him and was going to crash. “Wait, stop, I saw you,” Spike tried to stop her, but it was too late. PAMMMM. The girl had crashed into Spike causing them both to fall into the fountain behind them, fortunately for Peewee, he had flown to avoid falling into the fountain. SPLASH. “Ahhh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to,” the girl apologized when she saw what she had done, she tried to help Spike up. “Don't worry,” Spike responded, coming out of the water while Peewee returned to his shoulder, “This happens to me a lot.” “Has another girl pushed you into a fountain by mistake?” the girl asked him. “Errrr, no,” Spike replied with a smile, “But it would be funny if this was the second time.” The girl laughed, “Hehe, you're funny.” “That's one of my many virtues,” Spike responded with a smirk as Peewee pecked at his head, “Ouch, ok Peewee, I'll shut up.” “Oh yeah, what I was coming for,” the girl said but then she remembered something she extended her hand for a handshake, “Right, how rude I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Cozy Glow.” “Hello Cozy Glow,” Spike said, accepting the handshake, “My name is Spike.” “Yes, I know, Professor Twilight told me about you,” Cozy Glow responded with a smile. “Oh you know Twilight,” Spike told her, “Wait a minute, I think I've heard your name before.” “Well, not to brag, but I was the best student in Professor Celestia's research class,” Cozy Glow replied, “And that's why I managed to earn my position as Professor Twilight's assistant.” “Wow, and at your age it must be surprising to have that position, you must be very smart,” Spike told her, surprised. Cozy Glow blushed upon hearing it, “T. .T. Thanks.” “And this is my partner and friend, Peewee,” Spike introduced his Pokémon. “Fletch fletch,” Fletchling said with a smile. “Dawww, what a cute Fletchling,” Cozy responded, petting his beak. After a few seconds, they left the fountain and sat on the station bench, that's when Cozy explained to Spike why she was there. “So, Twilight sent you?” Spike asked. “That's right, Professor Twilight asked me to deliver this to you,” Cozy Glow responded as she handed Spike a box, out of curiosity he opened it and saw that it had 8 empty slots. “Oh my gems, it's a Badge Case,” Spike said surprised and excited. “This way you can save all the Badges you earn from the Gym Leaders,” Cozy Glow told him, “And that's not all.” At that moment, Cozy Glow took off her backpack and gave it to Spike, “This is for you.” “Huh?” Spike asked confused. “There are things there that you will need for your trip,” Cozy Glow told him. “That's weird, my parents gave me everything I needed in my backpack,” Spike responded, pointing to his own backpack. “Maybe those are things they didn't give you,” Cozy added as she handed him the backpack. Spike opened it and saw that there were things that he already had, but the strange thing was that in the backpack there was a pink Pokedex, after seeing what things there were, Spike realized that that backpack was not for him. “Umm, maybe there is a mistake,” Spike told him. "What are you talking about?" Cozy asked him. “I mean these are girl's clothes,” Spike replied as he showed her a dress he had taken out of the backpack. “Huh, looks like Professor Twilight really made a mistake,” Cozy Glow said, but then she caught a glimpse of the dress, “Wait a minute, that dress is mine.” "What?" Spike wondered, but suddenly a sound was heard, Spike took out the pink Pokedex from the backpack which was making that sound, "Maybe this has the answers." And as if it were a cell phone, Spike answered the call, “Hello?” “Hi Spike, please activate the video call mode.” “Twilight,” Spike said as he activated the video call mode, showing Twilight Sparkle in the screen. “Hello Professor Twilight,” Cozy Glow greeted her. “Hi Cozy, I see you've already met Spike,” Twilight told her. “Yes Professor,” Cozy Glow responded, “I came to give you the things you asked for, but I think you got the wrong backpack, these are my things.” Twilight giggled and smiled, “Make no mistake, Cozy, I made sure you had everything ready for your journey.” “I'm confused, I thought Spike was the one having a journey,” Cozy Glow replied. “That's right, and you're going with him,” Twilight said to Cozy Glow. “Wait what?” Cozy asked, “I don't understand, am I fired?” Twilight giggled and replied, “No Cozy, quite the opposite, I talked to your parents and they agree, listen, you were the best student in the class, I know you are excited about being my assistant, but to get to Where I am right now, I had a journey through Equestria which helped me understand how enormous the Pokémon world was, I was able to understand many things, that's why I would like you to experience the same." Cozy was speechless for a few seconds, she had never considered traveling through Equestria, although after thinking about it, the idea excited her. That's when Twilight turned to Spike, “Spike, if it's not too much trouble, would you be willing to let Cozy Glow travel with you? I'm sure she could help teach you just as much as you could teach her.” Spike smiled and nodded, he didn't expect to travel with a friend through the region, but he thought that would be more exciting, "Of course, Twi, Cozy is welcome to accompany me on my journey, but now it will be our journey." Cozy smiled, glad that Spike wanted to travel by her side. “Great, then it's decided,” Twilight said excitedly, she turned to Cozy, “Cozy, in your backpack you will find everything you need for your trip, plus, your parents decided that Dilcy should accompany you.” “Dilcy?” Cozy asked, unable to hide her smile. “Who is Dilcy?” Spike asked. Instead of answering, Cozy dug into the backpack and saw that there was a Pokeball inside, “Oh Golly, this will be amazing.” “Oh, Dilcy is a Pokémon of yours?” “Yeah, I think it's time to introduce it to you,” Cozy Glow responded by throwing the Pokeball into the air, out of it came a Pokémon that looked like some kind of blue-gray ghost and had a kind of long hairstyle on its head. “Dreeeavuuus,” the Pokémon said. “Spike, this is Dilcy,” Cozy Glow introduced her Pokémon. “Wow, it's a Misdreavus,” Spike said as he pulled out his Pokedex to analyze it. Name: Misdreavus. Type: Ghost. Info: Misdreavus, the screech Pokémon, Misdreavus are very mischievous and like to scream at night just to scare people. “Dreavus,” Dilcy said as she approached Peewee, who smiled at her, “Fletchling.” “MISDREAVUS,” Dilcy shouted, scaring Peewee who flew to hide behind Spike, “Fletch ling ling.” “No Dilcy, they're friends,” Cozy Glow reprimanded, making Dilcy lower her head. “Misdreavus,” Dilcy said to Peewee clearly apologetically, to which Peewee accepted her apology, “Flechling.” “You also have a PokéNav, which you can use as a map as well as giving you additional information about some places in Equestria, as well as information related to the Pokémon League,” Twilight told her. From the backpack, Cozy took out a yellow device, “Ok, here it is.” “Very well, I wish you the best of luck on your adventure,” Twilight told them. Cozy smiled as she closed the device, quickly nodding, "I promise you Professor Twilight, I'll learn everything there is to know about the Pokémon world." "I know you will," Twilight Sparkle told her as she crossed her arms with a big grin, "I wouldn't expect anything less from you." “Oh, and I think you already realized that there are no trains to Ponyville, but don't worry, tomorrow there will be a train that will take you to Manehattan, there you can have your first gym battle,” Twilight told him, “My best wishes at you two.” At that moment, Twilight hung up the call. “Very well, tomorrow we start the trip,” Spike said excitedly. “Fletch Fletchlling,” Peewee said just as excitedly. “Oh we can start today,” Cozy Glow told him. "What are you talking about?" Spike asked. “You see that train,” Cozy Glow pointed to a train away from the others, “That one is heading to Draconia right now.” “Wow, why wouldn't Twilight tell us about that train,” Spike responded. “I don't know, but I don't think it's a good idea to pass up this opportunity,” Cozy Glow told him, “But its your choice, I'll follow you.” Spike smiled and immediately the four of them got on the train that would take them to Draconia, where Spike would prepare to earn his first Gym Badge. But Spike knew that the challenge would not be easy, since he had investigated the Gym Leader, Ember, a Dragon-type trainer. Alright ponys, its time for the Opening of this awesome story. The way to Draconia was very normal, because Spike and Cozy Glow were on a train, Peewee was resting on Spike's shoulder while Dilcy slept while being hugged by Cozy Glow, the trainers were sitting thinking about what kind of battle it would be like. Cozy Glow noticed that Spike was very quiet, “Spike, are you okay?” Spike snapped out of his thoughts upon hearing Cozy's voice, “Oh, yes, yes I am, I was just thinking.” “About your gym battle right?” she asked him again. Spike sighed, “Yes.” He looked out the window, looking around the train to see a flock of Altarias and Swablu flying nearby. “I wonder if I'm making the right decision,” Spike told him. “I think I know what you mean,” Cozy Glow responded, “This is going to be your first battle, and it will be against a Gym Leader.” Spike nodded, “Exactly, I think Twilight didn't tell us anything about Draconia because maybe she thought I'm not ready yet, from what I heard, my brother, Shining Armor fought other trainers and wild Pokémon before arriving at the city where he had his first battle.” Cozy Glow felt guilty, she was the one who had suggested going to Draconia first, which Spike noticed. “But I would have ended up going to Draconia first anyway, I don't have the patience to wait that long,” Spike comforted her, “Besides, I know Peewee is in the mood for a battle.” “Fletchling,” Peewee nodded with a determined smile. Cozy Glow smiled. At that moment, the train stopped, indicating that they had arrived at Draconia. Minutes later, the two had left the train station, Draconia did not look at all like Canterlot, there were few buildings, most were houses built with red rocks, along the streets they saw several people walking with their Pokémon, they saw a lot of Pokémon and most of them were Dragon type, on the streets they saw several Bagon walking around, in addition to Axew, Jangmo-o and Draitini. A flock of Noibats rested on the wires of light poles. The two of them almost got a scare when they collided with a Drampa in the middle of the street. “Ahh, I'm sorry,” Spike apologized to the Drampa, who seemed to accept his apology as it smiled, “Dram Drampa.” “According to PokeNav,” Cozy Glow said, checking her device, “This is the route to get to the gym.” A few seconds passed. “Alright, then just keep going,” Spike said, “Do you think we're close, Cozy?” But Cozy Glow didn't respond, Spike thought it was strange, and when he realized, he saw that his friend was no longer with him, she had separated, “What the?” “Cozy, where are you?” Spike yelled for his friend's whereabouts. “Fletchling,” said Peewee who began to fly. “Peewee, could you please look for her?” Spike asked. “Ling,” Peewee nodded and flew around to try and look for Cozy. After half a minute, Peewee had returned to his trainer, there he pointed in a direction with one of his wings, it was obvious that he had found her, “Fletchling ling.” “Thanks Peewee, you're the best,” said Spike who headed to where Peewee was pointing. It wasn't long when Spike found Cozy Glow, the girl had been looking at a building in which there was a screen which showed a video of a Pokémon trainer next to a Milotic. In the distance, Spike could see that Cozy was also noticing other trainers outside the building who were accompanied by a Pokémon, some of them had combs with which they combed their Pokémon's fur, others gave them accessories to make them look good. “Cozy,” Spike placed his hand on her shoulder, drawing the girl's attention. “Oh, Spike,” Cozy said, realizing from looking at her watch that she had been distracted, “I'm sorry.” “It's ok,” Spike soothed, “I get distracted while walking too.” Spike had never seen anything like it, the only thing he knew about Pokémon was battles, “If I could ask, what was it that distracted you, does it have to do with that building?” “It's a Pokémon Contest,” Cozy Glow responded, “It's an exhibition where the coordinators present their Pokémon with style and grace, in a contest it doesn't matter which Pokémon is the strongest, it matters more which one uses its moves best with visual effectiveness, almost like a talent show.” “Wow, that sounds interesting,” replied Spike, who thought that the only thing that mattered was the Pokémon League, he looked at Cozy who did not take her eyes off that place, “Do you like contests, Cozy?” “Yes, they seem incredible to me, I have always seen them on television and I swear I have not seen anything like them, the talent, the exhibitions, it is simply wonderful,” said Cozy Glow with stars in her eyes, making Spike smile, it didn't seem like the same studious girl that she was, when watching a Contest she seemed to be someone different. Cozy noticed Spike looking at her with a smile, she blushed, “Ahh, we'll be late for your gym battle, come on.” “The Draconia Gym isn't going anywhere,” Spike told her. “Well, you don't know that,” Cozy Glow responded as she dragged Spike by the hand, “Come on, let's not waste any more time.” “But what about the contest?” Spike asked as he was dragged away. “Okay, I think it finished already,” Cozy Glow told him, trying to change the subject. “Do you think what I think?” Spike asked Peewee who nodded, it was obvious that Cozy would want to participate in contests but she didn't have enough confidence. “There it is, the Draconia Gym,” Cozy Glow pointed out. “Are you sure it's there?” Spike asked her because the place she was pointing to was a kind of mountain with a cave, that place did not seem to be a gym, having seen the gyms that were in Kanto, Jotho, etc. “The PokéNav doesn't lie,” Cozy responded, showing her device. Although after thinking about it Spike didn't think it was so crazy that the gym was in a cave, the Unova Region had very strange gyms, like restaurants, libraries and even mines, why it would be so different from having a gym in a cave. “And how will we get there? place that place is surrounded by water," asked Spike. “I can help you,” the two heard a deep voice to their right, they saw that it was a tall and muscular man with blue-gray skin, purple eyes, red hair, and a green sleeveless shirt and black pants and shoes as well, “My name is Torch, for the moment I am in charge of taking the trainers so they can enter the gym, that is until the bridge is finished.” Spike and Cozy Glow looked even further and sure enough, they saw a bridge in a state of construction. “I'm grateful sir,” he thanked Spike, “My name is Spike and this is my buddy Peewee.” “Fletch fletchlinggg,” said Peewee. “And I'm Cozy Glow,” Cozy introduced herself and then showed Dilcy, “And this is Dilcy.” “Dreavus,” Dilcy said. “Nice to meet you, but don't you look a little young for a trainer?” Mr. Torch asked them. “We are 13 years old, sir,” Cozy Glow responded. “Oh, well, you can't blame me,” Torch told them and laughed, “You two are rather tiny, heh-heh, I could squish you with my pinky finger.” Spike and Cozy laughed nervously only for Torch to growl at them, “That wasn't a joke! It was a fact, when I want you to laugh, I will say BE AMUSED!” The 2 young trainers swallowed and nodded quickly without losing their nerve. “Alright follow me,” Torch instructed them to follow them to the dock. “Will you take us in a boat sir?” Cozy asked him. “A boat, hehehe, you're so cute,” Torch laughed, indeed there was no boat on the dock. At that moment, Torch took out a Pokeball and threw it into the air, "Gyarados come out and help us." That was when a huge Pokémon appeared and fell into the water, It looked like a kind of sea monster, as if it were a snake or a dragon, It was blue except for its yellow underside. It had a huge jaw, which It made him look scary. “GYAAAAA,” the Pokémon shouted, scaring Cozy Glow, Dilcy, and even Peewee. “Ahhh,” Cozy Glow screamed in terror when she saw that colossal Pokémon, she quickly hid behind Spike. But Spike didn't feel fear, on the contrary, he felt excitement, "Wow, it's a Gyarados, I've never seen one so close, this is fascinating." Spike took out his Pokedex to analyze it. Name: Gyarados. Type: Water/Flying. Info: Gyarados, the atrocious Pokémon, Gyarados has a vicious temperament, so use extreme caution, Its fangs can crush stones and its scales are harder than steel. “Can I come closer?” Spike asked Torch, although he found it surprising that someone would ask him to get close to Gyarados, normally trainers were afraid of him, but he nodded when he saw that Spike was not one of those. “Spike, what are you doing?” Cozy asked him, who was still scared. “It's ok Cozy, I don't think he'll do anything bad to me,” Spike approached Gyarados, “Hi, I bet you're a very strong Pokémon.” And at that moment Spike patted Gyarados on the back. Cozy Glow almost fainted thinking that Gyarados would eat Spike, but it was the opposite. “Gyara,” Gyarados said, apparently liking what Spike did. “Wow, I didn't think there were young people who wouldn't be scared by a Gyarados, you really impressed me boy,” Torch told him impressed. “Gyarados has no reason to attack me as long as I don't give it to him,” Spike said, petting Gyarados, “Come on Cozy, try it.” With all the fear in the world, Cozy Glow advanced towards the Gyarados and with the help of Spike who took her hand, she caressed his head, Gyarados let herself be caressed, that made Cozy lose her fear, “Hey, this isn't so bad.” “So, you're taking us to the gym?” Spike asked the Gyarados who nodded, “Rados.” “Very well, let's not waste any more time,” Mr. Torch told them as he climbed onto the Gyarados's back, “Come on, get on.” Spike and Cozy, along with their Pokémon, climbed onto Gyarados's back, who gladly took them to the gym, where Spike would be willing to earn his first badge. But there was something he planned to solve after that, and it would be to help and encourage Cozy so that she could follow her own dreams, since he knew that she wanted to be a coordinator in Pokémon contests. But in the distance, there were 2 other trainers watching them, they were Garble and Smolder, seeing Spike, Garble could only laugh, "Oh please, this must be a joke." "That little guy is going to challenge Ember," Smolder wondered, "Look at him, he's got a Fletchling, he won't last long." "He thinks he knows what he's doing," Garble hissed, then shouted, "But he doesn't, he thinks Pokémon battles are fun, because I'll show him how big the world is." > Draconic Battle > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The arrival at the gym was quick, Spike, Cozy Glow and Mr. Torch got off Gyarados. “Thank you very much Gyarados,” Spike thanked. “You did a good job buddy,” Torch told him as he returned him to his Pokeball, “Alright, do you two want to take on Gym Leader Ember?” Cozy Glow shook her head, “Oh no, not me, just him, I’m just accompanying him.” “Well Spike, I must warn you, Ember is a very tough trainer,” Torch told him. "You know her?" Spike asked. “Hehehe, know her, I trained her myself,” Mr. Torch replied, “She's my daughter.” “Oh,” Spike said surprised, “You must be proud of her.” “And I am, so if you want that badge, it's going to take a lot of effort,” Torch told him. Spike nodded and they gladly entered the cave gym. The interior was amazing, there were gems of different colors embedded in the wall. “Wow, that's beautiful,” Cozy Glow said as she looked at the gems. “Yes, this cave is rich in gems,” Torch told them, “We thought it would be a good place to put the gym.” After walking for several minutes, they arrived at a huge room, made of stone, in the center was an arena, Spike knew that those arenas were the ones used in the Pokémon League, they had reached the battle room. “What do we have here,” they heard a woman's voice. Spike looked up, a girl of about 16 years old jumped from the roof of the cave, landing a few centimeters from Spike, the girl had light blue skin with long dark blue hair, orange eyes and was dressed in a jacket similar to the one Spike wears only yellow, black pants and black boots. Spike knew her since he had researched her because he liked Dragon-type Pokémon so much, the Gym Leader of Draconia, Ember. “Nice presentation,” said Cozy Glow who was watching sitting on a bench in the distance. “My name is Ember, the Gym Leader of Draconia, I specialize in the Dragon type, I would like to know the name of the trainer who comes to challenge me,” Ember introduced herself. "My name is Spike, and I am on a journey to become a Pokémon Master, please Leader Ember, accept my challenge." “Okay, but first I need to know how many badges you have,” Ember told him. That made Spike feel nervous, “Umm, well, if I win this would be the first one I get hehe.” “Are you serious? Don't you have any badge yet?” Ember asked him. “Is that something bad?” Spike answered with another question. “No, but it is recommended that you have at least 4 badges to challenge this Gym, of course that is not mandatory,” Ember responded. “Oh,” Spike said. “But, I suppose that you and your friend with the curls come from very far away, so it wouldn't be right to refuse,” Ember told him, “Very well, how about a battle with a single Pokémon, the winner will be the Pokémon let it remain standing.” Spike nodded with a smile, “Yes, I accept, thank you very much.” Ember smiled, “Alright, then go get ready.” Spike headed to his place, at one end of the battlefield, Ember did the same at the opposite end. “Hey Spike,” Cozy Glow called, looking nervous, “Tell me you have a plan.” “Well, no, hehe,” Spike laughed, making Cozy's eyes narrow. "But don't worry, I know how Dragon Pokémon work, resistant to Fire, Water, Grass and Electric types, so Treecko won't be an option for combat," Spike said then he looked at Peewee on his shoulder, "I could count on you Peewee?” “Fletchling,” Peewee nodded determinedly. Cozy smiled, even though Spike didn't have a plan, that didn't dampen his spirits, "Then we wish you two good luck." “Misdreavus,” Dilcy told them with a smile. It was time for the battle to begin. “Are you ready Peewee?” Spike asked his partner who nodded, both of them were excited. “Very well, in a normal case I would be the referee,” Torch told them, “But since it will be a single Pokémon battle then there won't be many rules, Ember choose your Pokémon.” Ember nodded and at that moment she threw a Pokeball into the air, “Dracozolt, prepare to fight.” From the Pokeball, a kind of Dragon appeared whose yellow upper part was very small and the green lower part was very large, also It had a red tail with many thorns. The Pokémon roar, "ZOLT." “I've never seen a Pokémon like that,” Spike said in surprise as he pulled out his Pokedex. Name: Dracozolt. Type: Electric/Dragon. Info: Dracozolt, the Thunder Dino Pokémon, Dracozolt produces electricity with its robust tail musculature, the size of its upper body pales in comparison to its lower body. Peewee's eyes turned completely white as he saw electricity coming out of Dracozolt's leather. “An Electric type,” Spike said through gritted teeth, he looked at Peewee, “Peewee, I'm sorry, I'll need to change plans.” “Fletch,” Peewee nodded, he knew that being a Flying type who is weaker to ab Electric type, the best option was Treecko. “Poor Peewee, he wanted to fight this battle,” Cozy Glow said hugging Dilcy. “I promise you'll be in the next battle Peewee,” Spike said to his Pokémon as he pulled a Pokeball out of his pocket and tossed it into the air, “Treecko, I choose you.” Treecko emerged from the Pokeball ready for battle, “Treee.” “A Grass type? "Do you only have 2 Pokémon?" Ember asked him. “Yes,” Spike answered, lowering his head, but then Spike responded with encouragement, “But that won't stop me, Treecko can fight anything.” “Treecko Tree,” Treecko said ready for action. “You can win Treecko,” Cozy Glow encouraged. “Very well, begin,” Mr. Torch told them. “Spike, I'll give you the first attack,” Ember told him. “Thank you,” Spike thanked and at that moment he ordered his Pokémon to attack, “Treecko, use Pound.” “Treeckoooo,” Treecko shouted as he used his tail to hit Dracozolt. POW. The hit was direct, Dracozolt suffered a lot of damage, “Zolt.” “Now it's our turn,” Ember said as she gave an order to her Pokémon, “Dracozolt, use Thunderbolt.” “DracoZOLT,” Dracozolt shouted which launched a kind of electric thunder which hit Treecko. “Treeckooooo,” Treecko shouted as he received the attack. “Treecko,” Spike shouted, worried for his partner, but Treecko stood up and assured him that he was fine by giving him a thumbs up. “But of course,” Spike said, realizing something, that Ember made a mistake, “Electric attacks are poorly effective against Grass-type Pokémon.” “How strange, Ember is a Gym Leader, how could she make a mistake like that?” Cozy Glow thought. “Time to recover, Treecko, use Absorb,” Spike ordered and at that moment Treecko began absorbing energy from Dracozolt which he made no effort to dodge. “Hmm, Absorb, steal energy from a Pokémon to heal itself,” Torch thought, “It's nothing Ember can't overcome.” “Dracozolt, use Thunderbolt once more,” Ember ordered to which Dracozolt launched that same beam again, “ZOLT.” “Treecko, dodge it,” Spike ordered and fortunately Treecko reacted in time, managing to dodge the thunderbolt. “Don't give up, keep attacking it with Thunderbolt,” Ember ordered while her Pokémon continued launching lightning bolts. “ZOLT.” But Treecko had already gotten used to most of the attacks and continued to dodge most of the bolts. “Keep it up Treecko,” Spike encouraged him. “I don't understand, why does Ember keep insisting on Thunderbolt?” thought Cozy Glow. But at that moment, Treecko had been backed into a corner. “Thunderbolt,” Ember shouted. “ZOLT,” Dracozolt shouted as he launched his beam which hit Treecko. ZAP. “Treecko, Treee,” Treecko said as he was hit by the lightning, obviously not feeling it as much as he was a Grass-type Pokémon. “That's not enough, Treecko, use Quick Attack,” Spike ordered, but something happened… Treecko found it difficult to move. “Wait, what?” Spike wondered. There he saw Treecko with a few flashes of electricity surrounding him, “It can't be.” "Why do you think Dracozolt kept using electric attacks even though they were ineffective," Ember told him, making Spike gulp, "Because it has a chance of paralyzing the opponent." “That's why she kept using the same attack,” said Cozy Glow. “Tree Treeeckooo,” Treecko said as he tried to move but it was useless, his speed had also been reduced. “You can't escape now,” Ember told him, “Dracozolt, finish this with Dragon Pulse.” “DRAAAAA,” Dracozolt said as he began charging energy into his mouth. “Treecko, try to resist, use Absorb,” Spike ordered. Treecko, even with paralysis, obeyed his trainer and with his last strength absorbed energy from Dracozolt hoping to resist. “That won't be enough, Dracozolt, now,” Ember told him. “COZOOOOOLTT,” Dracozolt shouted as he released the Dragon Pulse, it was a purple beam which took the shape of a Dragon and headed towards Treecko at great speed. Treecko being paralyzed could not dodge it, “Treeckoooooo.” BAAAAAMMMM. A large cloud of smoke covered the battlefield. “TREECKOOO,” Spike shouted, worried for his partner. “It's all over,” Ember said with her eyes closed. “Oh no,” Cozy Glow said, worried about Spike and Treecko. When the smoke cleared, Treecko could be seen on the ground with spirals in his eyes. Torch sighed, “Treecko is unnable to battle, the winner is Dracozolt, the victory goes to the Gym Leader Ember.” Ember smiled, then she took her Pokeball and returned her Pokémon, "Thank you very much Dracozolt." “Treecko,” Spike shouted as he approached his weakened companion, he was okay but tired, Spike smiled at him, “You did very well.” “Treecko tree,” Treecko said still with spirals in his eyes. “This was your first battle right?” Ember asked, Spike nodded weakly. "I noticed, it's obvious that you know a lot of things, but experiencing them is something different, now that you've learned that, you will grow as a Pokémon trainer," Ember told him. Spike returned Treecko to his Pokeball, then he looked at Ember, "I know I lost, but, I will come back here stronger, when I do I hope you will allow me to have a rematch." “I'll be waiting anxiously, come back when you're ready,” Ember told him with a smile. “Spike,” said Cozy Glow who walked up to him and placed her hand on his shoulder. Spike smiled, but that moment was interrupted by a sinister laugh. “Hahaha, what the hell was that?” A trainer of about 16 years old with black clothes appeared, he had red skin, thorny orange hair and dark purple eyes. At his side, he was accompanied by a girl entered who seemed to be the same age as Spike, she had spikey purple hair, orange skin and indigo eyes with a similar style of clothing as the red trainer. Ember looked at the boy, she made a sneer indicating that she already knew him, “So you're back.” “Hehe, it took Equestria so many years to finally have its own league, so I, The Great Garble has returned from his trip from the other regions to participate in the Pokémon League of his home region,” said the boy named Garble. “Has he traveled to other regions?” Spike wondered. “I assume you want a Gym Battle,” Ember asked, she seemed to dislike Garble, but a Gym Leader had to accept battles from trainers registered with the Pokémon League. “In this gym, please,” Garble scoffed, “I have no reason to earn a weak badge from a weak gym.” Ember frowned and gritted her teeth. Spike frowned, he didn't like this boy. Torch approached him, “Watch your language boy, you can't disrespect Ember.” “Why should I respect her?” Garble asked, “I saw your fight against that weakling, seeing your performance I'm better going to other gyms cause I don't plan to waste my time here.” Ember and Torch gasped. “Don't you dare insult them,” Cozy Glow told him angrily. But the girl next to Garble interjected, “And what are you going to do about it?” “I suggest you back off, for it being his first battle, Spike did very well,” Ember told Garble. “Your first battle?” Garble asked, then he turned to Spike, “Brat, why did you think it would be a good idea to challenge a Dragon-type Gym Leader for a first battle?” “I actually thought about it a lot,” Spike responded. “And you were thinking of fighting it with those loser Pokémon you have, give me a break,” Garble said. That was the final straw, Spike snapped, “THATS ENOUGH.” “How dare you talk to me like that?” Garble asked him but Spike interrupted him. “Just shut your mouth for a few seconds,” Spike said angrily, angering Garble even more in the process, “I'm not going to let you insult my friends like that, so I challenge you to a battle.” “You're wasting your time,” the orange girl told him, “My brother doesn't have battles against weaklings like you.” “Its okay, Smolder, I'll accept,” Garble said with an eerily calm tone. “Huh?” Smolder asked. “Since I won't have a Gym Battle here, at least I can show off my skills,” Garble responded, then looked at Spike, “Okay brat, and since you only have one Pokémon left, then it will be a 1 vs 1 battle.” “I agree,” Spike replied seriously, Peewee was determined since he couldn't have a gym battle, “FLETCH FLETCHLING.” “Spike, are you sure about this?” Cozy Glow asked him. “Your curly friend is right, Garble has been a trainer for 3 years,” Ember told him, “It's going to be a tough battle.” “I know, but I have no choice, I can't let him look down on my friends,” Spike said as he and Peewee got ready. A few minutes later. Ember and Cozy Glow were sitting on a bench near Spike while Smolder was sitting on a bench near Garble. “Good luck Spike,” Cozy Glow encouraged to which Spike smiled. “Alright, it will be a 1 vs 1 battle, please bring out your Pokémon,” Mr. Torch told them. “Peewee, I choose you,” Spike said as Peewee jumped off his shoulder and flew across the battlefield, primed and ready. “Charizard, you better get ready,” Garble shouted as he threw a Pokeball into the air, an orange Pokémon came out that looked like some kind of Dragon, it had fire on its tail and wings that looked majestic. “It can't be,” Spike said, surprised when he saw Garble's Pokémon, “It's a Charizard.” > The Fire of Doom > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike and Garble were going to have a Pokémon battle, but Spike didn't expect his rival to use a Charizard, Garble certainly already had experience, but that wasn't going to scare him, he was gonna fight with all of his power. “So, a Charizard, wow, I always wanted to see one in person,” Spike said excitedly as he pulled out his Pokedex and analyzed it. Name: Charizard. Type: Fire/Flying. Info: Charizard, the Flame Pokémon, Charizard's powerful flame can melt absolutely anything, when fighting intense battles, his flame becomes much more powerful. “It's not too late to give up, I would understand that a rookie like you would feel so afraid when you saw Charizard's ferocity,” Garble told him. “Never,” Spike replied, “Peewee and I won't give up.” “FLETCHLING,” Peewee shouted determinedly. In the stands. “Your purple friend must have his perception of reality completely altered,” Smolder said to Cozy Glow who had Dilcy in her arms, “How does he expect to defeat a dragon with a little bird?” “Well, first of all, Charizard is not a Dragon type,” Cozy Glow replied to which Dilcy nodded smilingly, “Misdreavus.” “AHHH,” Smolder shouted, “I KNOW IT'S NOT A DRAGON TYPE.” “Oh, I'm sorry,” Cozy replied in a mocking manner, “But you should have been more specific.” “Who does she think she is? Totally feminine with that little dress and those curls, how ridiculous,” Smolder thought. “As much as I hate to admit it,” Ember approached, “She makes a good point, it's unlikely that a Fletchling could defeat a Charizard.” “Well, I know,” Cozy Glow responded a little nervously, but then smiled, “But from what Professor Twilight Sparkle, who is Spike's older sister, has told me, he is someone who is very determined and doesn't give up, so easily, he will be a little clumsy, but he is very intelligent.” Ember smiled, “So, let's see how he'll surprise us.” “So he's the brother of a professor,” Smolder thought, then she turned to Garble, “Bro, be careful with him.” “What are you talking about, don't you see that he's a beginner,” Garble replied. “But he's the brother of a professor, he must be very smart,” Smolder told him. “But being smart won't give you experience, I'm sure your Fletchling couldn't withstand a single attack from Charizard,” Garble said to which his Charizard nodded, “ZARRRD.” Spike looked at him seriously, then he turned to Peewee, “We'll teach him.” “Fletchling.” “If the two trainers are ready,” Mr. Torch told them, “Let the battle begin.” At that moment, the battle began. “Charizard, use Flamethrower,” Garble ordered, to which Charizard released a bolt of fire from his mouth. “Dodge it Peewee,” Spike shouted to which Peewee reacted quickly, dodging the attack. “You won't gain anything by dodging,” Garble told him, “Charizard, use Dragon Claw.” “CHAAARRR,” Charizard shouted as his claws became enveloped in a purple aura, and he lunged at Peewee. “Who told you we only know how to dodge,” Spike replied, “Peewee, use Peck.” Peewee's beak glowed and he flew towards Charizard, dodging his claws, then managed to hit Charizard with his beak. POWWW. “CHARRR,” Charizard recoiled from the attack. “WHAT THE?” Garble asked himself in surprise. “You underestimate our speed, Peewee, use Agility,” Spike ordered to which Peewee nodded, “FLETCHLING.” Peewee flew so fast that there seemed to be 2 of them. “With that he increased his speed, well thought out Spike,” Ember said. “Grr, you won't get away with this, Charizard, use Steel Wing,” Garble ordered furiously and at that moment, Charizard's wings turned a metallic gray color with which he hit Peewee. CLANKK. “LIIIING,” Peewee shouted as he received the attack. “Peewee,” Spike shouted, but Peewee recovered in the air. “Grr, why doesn't it fall?” Garble wondered. “Our turn, Peewee, use Peck,” Spike ordered as Peewee attacked Charizard with his beak. POW. “Charizard,” Garble shouted angrily, “Don't you dare lose to that weakling bird.” “One more time Peewee,” Spike said to which Peewee repeated the attack. POW. The attack managed to hit Charizard again. “CHARRRR,” Charizard yelled as he received those pecks. “AHHHH, ENOUGH,” Garble shouted in fury. “Gar Gar, no,” Smolder shouted. “Keep it up Spike,” Cozy Glow encouraged him. “I must admit, I have never seen a Fletchling so strong,” said Mr. Torch. “And seeing him give Garble's Charizard so much trouble,” Ember added with a smile. “We'll make you pay, Charizard use Thunder Punch,” Garble ordered as Charizard's claws charged with electricity, then he closed his fist, and with the electricity gathered, he proceeded to punch Peewee. "Thunder Punch?" Spike thought worriedly. “Oh no, electric attacks have an advantage over flying type Pokémon, Peewee will be in trouble,” Cozy Glow said. Spike thought, and he thought he found a risky solution, “Peewee, dodge it using Agility.” “Fletchling,” Peewee nodded as he dodged that attack with his own attack. “This is impossible,” Garble said with fury in his eyes, “I'm not going to lose to a weak trainer.” Spike smiled, “So, I think it's time for Peewee and I to show you how weak we are.” “FLETCHLING,” Peewee yelled energetically. “Are you ready Peewee? It's time to use our secret weapon to end this,” Spike said to which Peewee nodded, he stood in front of Spike. "What are you going to do?" Cozy Glow wondered. “Charizard, be careful, they're planning something,” Garble said to his Charizard. Spike and Peewee breathed calmly, and after exhaling, Spike gave the command, “Now Peewee, use Brave Bird.” “FLETCH….LIIIIIINGG,” Peewee shouted as an aura of energy surrounded him, and at inhuman speed he headed towards Charizard. “A Fletchling who knows the Brave Bird move?” Cozy, Ember, Smolder and Torch asked themselves at the same time. “For Peewee to know one of the flying-type's strongest attacks at such an early stage is impressive,” said Cozy Glow. “It's much more than that,” Ember added. “Brave Bird is a very powerful attack that even hurts the Pokémon that uses it, it is a double-edged sword,” said Mr. Torch. “Noooo, Charizard, dodge it,” Garble ordered, but it was too late, the attack was so fast that it had hit. BOOOMM. “ZARRRRRD.” “FLETCHHH.” A cloud of dust filled the battlefield. “I don't see anything,” Garble said. "What's going on?" Spike asked. After a few seconds the cloud of dust dissipated, revealing Peewee who was fine, as he flew. While Charizard was on the ground, he seemed unconscious. Garble was expressionless when he saw his Pokémon on the ground. “YEAH,” Spike jumped in excitement, “Way to go Peewee.” “Fletch Fletchling,” Peewee celebrated alongside his trainer. “They did it, they defeated them,” Cozy Glow said excitedly while Dilcy flew out of her arms with happiness on her face, “Dreavussss.” “Not bad,” Ember said. “Gar Gar,” Smolder said dejectedly, “You did your best.” At this moment, Mr. Torch was going to announce the winner, “Charizard cannot continue, the winner is…” “CHAAARRRR,” shouted Charizard on the ground who stood up with a furious expression. "What? No, it can't be,” Spike said, surprised by his rival's Charizard. “I told you, Charizard won't go down that easy,” Garble told him. “The battle continues,” Mr. Torch announced. “Damn, they already had them,” Cozy Glow said frustratedly. “It doesn't matter, we'll keep going until we beat them,” Spike said to which Peewee nodded determinedly, “FLETCHHHH.” “No, not anymore, because you already made us angry,” Garble told him furiously, “I think it's time to pulverize their spirits, don't you think, Charizard?” “ZAAAARRDDD,” Charizard shouted angrily. And at that moment, Garble placed something on his wrist, it was a kind of metal bracelet with a strange stone in the center, but Spike's eyes widened because he knew what that strange artifact was. “A Mega Ring,” Spike said in surprise, then he saw that on Charizard's tail there was a ring, which had a huge stone attached to it. “No, it meas,” Ember said. “That's right Ember, Garble is going to use Mega Evolution,” Cozy Glow finished. “Did you have a Mega Ring this whole time?” Spike asked. “Yes, so now you will suffer with our true power,” Garble said as he showed his Mega Ring which began to glow, “Get ready Charizard.” “ZARDDD,” Charizard shouted as he enveloped himself in some sort of purple aura. “Break the evolution barrier Charizard, Mega Evolution,” Garble shouted and at that moment, the aura that surrounded Charizard disappeared, revealing Charizard but with a new form, his scales went from orange and yellow to black and blue, flames Blues surrounded its mouth, its wings had become different and it had spines on different parts of its body, “Mega-Charizard X.” “FLETCH FLECTHLINGGG,” Peewee shouted in fear. “Oh no,” Spike said, knowing the worst was yet to come. “Charizard, use Steel Wing,” Garble ordered as his Charizard attacked Fletchling with its wings. CLANKK. “LIIING,” Peewee shouted as he received the attack. “Peewee, don't give up,” Spike told him, “Use Peck.” “FLETCH,” Peewee nodded as he flashed his beak and lunged at Charizard again. “Hehe, show him Charizard, Steel Wing,” Garble said as his Charizard's wings glowed again. CLANKK. The 2 attacks collided, and the 2 Pokémon retreated at the same time. “It seems like they're evenly matched,” Smolder said. “No, they're not,” Ember said worriedly. "What are you talking about?" Smolder asked. “Charizard's ability, Tough Claws,” Cozy Glow responded just as worried as Ember, “It increases all contact attacks by a third, so Garble…” “Peewee,” Spike shouted as he saw his Pokémon flying slower. “It's time, Charizard, finish him off with Thunder Punch,” Garble ordered to which Charizard approached Peewee at high speed. “Fletch,” Peewee said as he got too close to Charizard, he tried to escape, but it was too late. ZAAAAPPPPP. “PEEWEE,” Spike shouted, worried for his Pokémon as he watched it receive an electric shock. And at that moment, Peewee fell to the ground, his eyes had turned into spirals, “Fletch….ling.” Mr. Torch saw it and although he didn't want to do it, he had to announce the winner, even though he disliked Garble, “Fletchling is unnable to battle, the winner is Charizard, the victory goes to Garble.” Charizard returned to his original form at that moment. Spike ran over to where Peewee was, and took him into his arms, “Peewee, you did great, it was my fault.” Garble approached Charizard, the Pokémon looked at him seriously, but his trainer only showed a look of anger, "You almost lost against that cheap bird, I don't know what would have happened if I hadn't activated the Mega Evolution, you have to be stronger and that is an order.” Charizard just nodded as Garble returned him to his Poke Ball, then he turned to Spike. "Hehehe, and you say that you will be the first champion of Equestria, you really make me laugh, it doesn't matter how much you have researched or if you know all the weaknesses of each type of Pokémon, it doesn't matter if you are a weak trainer, because a weakling like you I won't go far, so you better not get in my way, because I will become the champion of Equestria,” Garble told him as he left the place. Smolder followed him while glancing at Spike, although she always agreed with her older brother, she could not deny that for a rookie trainer, Spike and Peewee managed to put Garble and Charizard on the ropes. “If he trains his Pokémon well, we won't know how far he could go,” Smolder thought as she left without saying a single word. Cozy Glow, Ember and Mr. Torch approached Spike, who was still kneeling on the ground with Peewee in his arms. “Spike, are you okay?” Cozy Glow asked Spike, she could see tears welling up in his eyes. Spike just stared at Peewee cursing his own helplessness, but with an inner desire to become stronger in the future, because there he learned an important lesson, the Pokémon world is huge and he was just one more trainer among thousands, victory was not It would come so easily. > Lesson Learned, Keep Moving Forward > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike was running directly to the nearest Pokémon center, after his defeat against Garble, the first thing he thought about was going to heal his Pokémon, he felt too bad that he couldn't have been a better trainer for them, but that didn't mattered now, at least for the moment, he was with Cozy Glow and Ember, who decided to guide them to the place because she knew the city of Draconia like the back of her hand. “There it is,” Ember pointed to a white building with a red roof, there was also a sign of a pokeball over a red cross, “The Draconia City Pokémon Center.” “Thank you for everything Ember,” Spike thanked her humbly. “We'll see you soon,” Cozy said goodbye as she and Spike entered the Pokémon center and Ember left the place. "I'll come back tomorrow to see how you are, don't worry, your Pokémon will be fine," the Gym Leader said goodbye and left. Spike and Cozy stepped inside, only to be greeted by a woman with white skin, pink hair and wearing a nurse's uniform, "Welcome to the Pokémon Center, I'm Nurse Redheart, how can I help you?" “Hello Nurse Redheart, my friends are hurt,” Spike told her as he placed 2 Pokeballs on the counter, “It was my fault, I ask you please if you can heal them.” "Of course," Redheart turned to the door behind her, "Chansey, I need your help." Seconds later, the doors opened and a pink egg shaped Pokémon stepped out while pushing a trolley, the Pokémon had a small pouch on its stomach that had an egg in it while also wearing a nurse's hat, "Chansey." “Oh Golly, it's a Chansey,” Cozy Glow exclaimed with a smile as she grabbed her Pokedex and scanned it. Name: Chansey. Type: Normal. Info: Chansey, the egg Pokémon and the evolved form of Happiny, Chansey is a kind Pokémon that gives eggs to those who are sick or injured. "You can be relieved Spike, Chansey are Pokémon that can heal other sick or injured Pokémon," Cozy Glow told him making Spike relieve a little. “You're right, you're very smart,” Nurse Redheart smiled at her, then she turned to Spike, “And don't be discouraged little one, these things always happen to rookie trainers.” Spike was going to wonder how she knew he was a rookie but the nurse continued. “And before you ask, I knew because you only have 2 Pokémon and I saw them accompanied by the Gym Leader, I bet that was your first gym battle?” Spike nodded his head down, “Yes.” “Well, don't worry, I'm sure you'll get better,” the nurse told him, placing her hand on his shoulder, “And I'll make sure to treat your Pokémon well, feel welcome to hang out here to rest, you must be exhausted. ” The two nodded, then the nurse took the Pokeballs from Spike, passed them to Chansey and they both retired to the emergency room. “I didn't tell her everything,” Spike spoke under his breath. "What are you talking about?" Cozy asked him. “I don't know why I didn't tell him about Garble, maybe out of cowardice, maybe, and now Peewee is…” Spike said with his head down. “Spike, you didn't know he was an expert, you didn't know he had a mega stone either, the important thing is that you didn't give up and Peewee continued fighting,” Cozy Glow tried to encourage him, “You didn't tell him, because you know you can beat him.” Spike raised his head a little, but then, he saw an area with a bunch of green computer like devices, “I'll call home, if that's okay with you, Cozy.” “Go ahead,” Cozy Glow told him. He got up and went to a seat in front of those computers, there was a kind of phone which Spike took and began to type a number, then he fixed his eyes on the screen of the device, a few moments later, the screen changed and Spike's mother, Twilight Velvet, could be seen in it. “Hello, this is the Sparkle residence.” “Hello mom,” Spike greeted her in a low, weak voice. “Spike,” Velvet was surprised and when she saw the screen she realized that it was her son speaking, “Spike, hello, how have you been, where are you calling from?” “I'm calling from the Draconia City Pokémon Center,” Spike answered in his low voice. Velvet realized that something was wrong with her son, whom he had always seen very animated, she was going to ask him what happened but at that moment Twilight Sparkle appeared in front of the screen, apparently she had heard the conversation, "Spike what the heck are you doing in Draconia City?" “There was a train available, we thought coming here would be better than waiting 3 days to take the train to Ponyville,” Spike responded. “Did something happen to you, sweetie?” his mother asked him. “I challenged Gym Leader Ember, after that I had a battle against an experienced trainer,” replied Spike who paused, then lowered his head, “And I lost both battles, I'm here while I wait for Peewee and Treecko to be cured.” “Oh honey,” Velvet said, feeling sorry for her son. “Spike, what were you thinking,” Twilight Sparkle scolded, “You just got your first Pokémon a few days ago, why did you think that challenging the Draconia Gym would be a good idea?” Spike continued with his head down but a tear slipped from his eye, “I thought I could win.” “I'm sorry to say Spike, but that's called arrogance,” Twilight continued her sermon, “I don't like to say I told you so, but that's why I said it would be better if you waited for the train to Ponyville but apparently you were too stubborn to understand." Spike didn't say anything, he just kept his head down, but more tears began to well up in his eyes. “Professor Twilight,” Cozy Glow approached, “This isn't Spike's fault, I suggested we go to Draconia.” “Wait what?” Twilight wondered in surprise. “I thought it would be a good idea when we saw the train, I didn't think it was a very strong gym,” Cozy Glow spoke, looking at the ground, Spike looked at her, he couldn't stand that his friend took all the blame for him. “Oh Cozy,” Twilight said, putting her hand to her forehead, but there was disappointment in her tone of voice, “I expected more from you, that was reckless and…” But at that moment Twilight was interrupted by her mother. “THAT WAS ENOUGH TWILIGHT.” Everyone shuddered when they heard Twilight Velvet's voice which had scolded her daughter. “Twilight, I understand that you want to help, but this is Spike's journey, not yours,” Velvet told her daughter, “The decisions Spike makes shouldn't bother you, because they are his decisions.” Twilight Sparkle had been left speechless by her mother's reaction. "Mom." “And Spike,” Velvet addressed her son, “I know you must feel really bad right now, but Shining Armor also had problems in his early days as a trainer.” “Yes, but compared to him, I'm just a…” Spike said depressed but was interrupted. “Spike, look at me, that was your first battle, and they defeated you, use this experience in the future,” Velvet told him with a smile, “Remembering this, you will be a greater trainer than anyone, because I know that you have that potential, So don't be afraid of defeats but be willing to accept them when they come, that's what makes a Pokémon master." Those words reached Spike's heart, he wiped the tears from his face with the strength he had left and looked at the screen, “Thank you, mom.” Velvet smiled at her, then she turned to Twilight, “And I think someone has something to tell you.” “I'm sorry about that,” Twilight apologized to the 2 trainers, “I shouldn't have scolded you for making your own decisions, this is your journey and I understand, you could forgive me.” “That's what the little brothers are for, Twi,” Spike told her, to which Cozy Glow nodded. Twilight smiled, moved by her brother. Immediately afterwards, the two said goodbye and hung up the call. “You have a nice family Spike,” Cozy told him. Spike smiled, “I guess I do.” The next day. Spike and Cozy Glow were waiting in the main room, and at that moment Nurse Red Heart appeared with 2 Pokeballs in her hands, "Alright, these 2 are already doing very well, remember not to push yourself too hard in the battles." “Thank you very much Nurse Redheart,” thanked Spike who took the Pokeballs, which he threw into the air, “Peewee, Treecko, come out.” The 2 Pokémon came out of their pokeballs, a little confused. “Guys,” Spike bent down to talk to them. “Linggg.” “Treeee.” “I'm sorry for everything that happened, I hope you can forgive me for this,” Spike said as he apologized to his Pokémon who accepted his apology. “Treecko tree.” “Fletch Fletchling.” Spike smiled as his 2 friends rushed towards him to hug him. “I see that they are already cured,” said Ember who entered the Pokémon center, then she turned to Spike, “How are you?” “I think I'm better, I just know I can be stronger, I just have to try harder for my friends,” Spike replied confidently to which Peewee and Treecko nodded. Ember smiled as she took out 2 papers from her backpack, “That's the spirit, here, for you two.” "What are these?" Cozy Glow asked. “Tickets for a ship that will leave for Ponyville in an hour, there is a gym there that you can challenge,” Ember told them. “Ember, you shouldn't,” Spike told her moved. "Of course I should," Ember replied, "During our battle I saw your potential, you know a lot, but you still lack experience, I want you to go to Ponyville and when you feel strong come back here to challenge me once again." Spike smiled, “I will Ember.” “Preferably when you have more than 5 badges,” Ember whispered. And at that moment Spike and Cozy Glow approached Ember to hug her. "What in the name of Dragonite are you doing?" Ember asked with her arms raised. "You do not know?" Cozy Glow asked her. "It's called, a hug," Spike responded. "Oh...um, I don't know if I like it, but...okay." She said still blushing patted both of them on the head as Spike hugged her tighter. And so, Spike and Cozy decided to continue their journey, their next stop was Ponyville. Meanwhile in Canterlot. Twilight Sparkle was there with her lab coat on, she was thoughtful. "Are you still thinking about what you said to Spike?" Professor Celestia asked her. Twilight nodded, "I was really mean to him, I know he forgave me, but still, is it wrong for me to worry?" "Of course not, Twilight," Celestia responded, approaching her, "You love him very much that's why you want the best for him, I'm not saying you should tell him what to do, but you can be there for him when he needs it." "What do you mean?" Twilight asked him. Celestia didn't respond, she just giggled and at that moment she handed Twilight a lilac backpack, surprising Twilight. "Is that?" asked Twi but then, an owl like Pokémon appeared which landed on the her shoulder, "Owlowiscious, Is what I think is happening happening right now in this moment?" Celestia just noded with a smile. > Arriving at Ponyville > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “I can see Ponyville a few meters away,” said Cozy Glow, who had binoculars. “Alright, it's about time,” Spike responded excitedly. The two were on a boat which took them to the next town where Spike would have his next gym battle, Ponyville, they got there thanks to Ember's courtesy of giving them 2 tickets to sail. Several minutes later. The ship stopped at a port where several of the passengers got off to set foot on dry land, Spike and Cozy Glow were surprised to see the number of small houses that Ponyville had, Pokémon of all kinds were around, Zigzagoons running down the street, Whoopers on the lake, and even several Skiploom flying around. “This town is beautiful,” Cozy Glow said, to which Dilcy who was flying next to her nodded, “Misdreavus.” “Totally different from Canterlot,” Spike agreed as Peewee nodded along with him, “Fletchling.” “Okay, according to my PokeNav,” Cozy Glow said looking at her device, but paused when she couldn't find what she was looking for, “This is weird.” "What's happening?" Spike asked. “My PokéNav says the gym should be around here, but it only points to the town hall,” Cozy responded. “That's strange,” Spike said strangely. At that moment they saw a girl approaching them, she seemed to be the same age as Professor Twilight Sparkle, that girl had pink skin, poofy pink hair, she wore a white blouse and a blue shirt with 3 balloons drawn on it, she wore a pink skirt and blue boots, but the most curious thing was that a Pokémon that seemed to be a miniature brown crocodile was sleeping in her hair. “Maybe the people of Ponyville can give us directions on where the gym might be,” Spike said, at which point the pink girl stopped in front of them. Cozy was the first to greet her, “Hello.” But the pink girl gave a huge sigh that seemed like terror and ran out of the place. “That was interesting,” said Cozy Glow who went in the opposite direction. “Ughh,” said Spike dejectedly who followed Cozy. Continuing their journey, they arrived at the town hall, since the PokéNav guided them there, they thought that the gym would be nearby, and they would at least ask for its address. “This place is very colossal,” Spike thought, seeing how spacious the town hall was. “Wait a minute, maybe this place will be…” Cozy Glow thought but her thoughts were interrupted when she heard someone who appeared behind them. It was a woman of about 25 years old who had brown skin, short silver hair, wore a gray dress suit with a skirt and heels, "Hello, are you Pokémon trainers who participate in the League?" “Um, Hi,” Cozy Glow greeted her, pointing at Spike and stepping aside, “Not me, but he is.” “Hello, good morning,” Spike introduced himself cordially, “I'm Spike, this is my partner Peewee, and she is Cozy Glow and her partner Dilcy.” “Ling,” said Peewee. “Dreavus,” Dilcy said. “Nice to meet you, I am the mayor of this town, Mayor Mare,” the woman introduced herself, “And the fact that you are here is not a mistake.” “Huh?” Spike wondered. “Although this is the town hall, it is also a gym, that is why their PokéNav brought you here,” the mayor explained. Although Spike and Cozy suspected it, the mayor's confirmation made them feel safer knowing that they were in the gym. Hearing that Spike approached her, “So, you know the Gym Leader? Do you know if I can challenge her?” The mayor smiled at him, “You're looking at her, little one, and of course I accept.” Spike and Cozy Glow were surprised, although it wasn't that much of a surprise, they didn't think that someone with the position of mayor could also have time in their busy schedule to dedicate themselves to being a Gym Leader. “That's awesome, thank you very much,” Spike thanked her, to which the mayor did not lose her smile. "As I told you, my name is Mayor Mare, the Gym Leader of Ponyville, I specialize in the Normal type, Pokémon that although they have no advantage over any, are also the most resistant, so I recommend you be careful, Amethyst Star, I need your help." “Here I am,” a girl with lilac skin and purple hair introduced herself, she was wearing an outfit similar to the mayor, “Oh, a trainer, I get it.” That was when the mayor snapped her fingers, from the ground a small battle arena emerged which was completely flat, clearing the place of any chair or desk, the only thing that was left were some bleachers to which Cozy Glow addressed, “Good luck Spike.” Spike was going to head to the other end of the area, but was stopped by the mayor, “But before we start, I have a question to ask you.” Spike nodded, “Yeah, you can ask me anything.” “How many badges do you have right now?” the mayor asked him. Spike felt a little nervous and didn't want to answer, Ember asked him that too, he felt embarrassed, but he thought it was best to be honest, "I don't have any." Spike expected some surprising reaction from the mayor, but it didn't happen, instead the mayor looked at him with a smile, "I see." The mayor walked towards a corner, suddenly a kind of digital keyboard appeared on the wall, she pressed the keys and after that, a table emerged from the floor which had 6 pokeballs, 2 pokeballs, 2 great balls and 2 ultra balls. The mayor took 2 normal pokeballs, “So this will be a battle of 2 Pokémon each, is that okay with you?” Spike nodded, he looked out of the corner of his eye at the pokeballs that the mayor took, he thought that she varied her team depending on the number of badges the trainer had, he found that method interesting, “I think it's a good idea, mayor.” "I will be the referee if you don't mind, the battle will end when none of its respective trainer's Pokémon can continue, and the mayor will also be prohibited from switching Pokémon," Amethyst Star announced. “If you have understood everything, then it is time to begin,” the mayor said as she threw her pokeball into the air, “Miltank, I choose you.” A Pokémon that looked like a cow came out of the pokeball, Spike had heard stories related to that Pokémon, stories that made it look like a killing machine or even a demon. “A Miltank,” Spike said in surprise as he took out his Pokedex to analyze it. Name: Miltank. Type: Normal. Info: Miltank, the dairy cow Pokémon, Miltank produces very nutritious milk, a perfect drink to revive sick Pokémon, Miltank is very calm and prefers not to fight. “So the mayor started with a Miltank,” said Cozy Glow from the stands, but at that moment Dilcy seemed to be scared, something that did not go unnoticed by her trainer, “I understand you Dilcy, Spike will have a very difficult time again.” “A Miltank, if thats so,” Spike pulled out his pokeball from his pocket and tossed it into the air, “Treecko, I choose you.” Out came his starter Pokémon, Treecko, ready for battle. “Treecko tree,” Treecko said ready for battle upon seeing Miltank. “A Treecko,” the mayor said with a smile, “Alright Spike, I think you know what you're doing.” “Very well,” Amethyst Star announced, “Then let the battle begin.” “Let's not waste any more time,” the mayor said as she ordered her first attack, “Miltank use Rollout.” “TAANNKKK,” agreed Miltank, who began to roll over and as if she were a boulder, she addressed Treecko. “Treecko dodge it,” Spike said as quickly as he could. “Tree,” said Treecko who jumped to avoid being caught by Miltank. But the mayor just smiled, “Dodging won't work for you.” And at that moment, Miltank, which was still spinning, changed direction abruptly and went straight towards where Treecko was going to land. “Uh oh,” said Spike who understood what was happening. “Tree?” Treecko wondered and then realized that Miltank was coming towards him. CRASHHH. “TREECKOOOOOO,” shouted Treecko, who was thrown away upon impact with Miltank. “Noo, Treecko,” Spike shouted as he saw his partner fall to the ground. Miltank stopped rolling at that moment and taunted Treecko. “Rollout is an attack that won't stop until it hits its target, so dodging it is useless,” the mayor told him. “I anticipated something like that, my sister told me about the time she fought a trainer who had a Miltank, Rollout is a common attack for a Pokémon like her, that's why I chose Treecko,” Spike explained. “But of course,” said Cozy Glow who had already understood what Spike was planning, “Rollout is a Rock type attack and Treecko can resist it because he is a Grass type.” “Well, they taught you well, let's see if you have what it takes,” the mayor told him. “I'll get it if I don't have it,” Spike replied confidently, “Our turn, Treecko, use Pound.” “Treeckoooo,” Treecko shouted as he used his tail to hit Miltank. POW. The hit was direct, Miltank suffered a lot of damage, “Tank.” “Miltank, recover using Milk Drink,” the mayor ordered her Pokémon, which used its udder to expel milk, of which it drank a little, recovering from the blow. “Be careful Spike,” Cozy Glow shouted, “Miltank regains energy thanks to that move.” “Really? That's good to know,” Spike responded with a smile. The mayor raised an eyebrow when she heard it. “Then I think you should steal Miltank's energy, use Absorb,” Spike ordered and at that moment Treecko began absorbing energy from Miltank which she made no effort to dodge. “Miltank, use Stomp,” the mayor ordered, Miltank was so fast that she didn't give Treecko time to dodge her, “MILTANKKK.” Miltank stomped on the ground so hard that he sent Treecko flying. PAMM. “KOOOO,” Treecko shouted as he was shot and landed on his back. “Treecko, are you okay?” Spike asked, Treecko was going to respond but realized he couldn't move, “Treeckoo.” “Oh no, what's wrong?” Spike wondered. “I'll answer you,” the mayor responded, “Stomp is an attack that can knock back the Pokémon that receives it.” “I admit that's sneaky,” Spike said, hiding his desperation, but at that moment, an idea occurred to him, “Treecko, keep an eye on Miltank.” Treecko, who could not make any attack at that time, decided to obey the order. “Remember, don't let her out of your sight.” “Rollout,” the mayor ordered and her Miltank turned on itself again. Treecko remembered what his trainer said and decided to follow the cow, ready to receive the attack, which did not take long to arrive. POW. “KOOO,” Treecko stumbled, but resisted the attack. “Treecko tell me what you saw it?” Spike asked his partner with a quiet voice so that no one could hear them, Treecko smiled at him and nodded. Spike smiled and thought, “Alright, I think I've got that figured out, I just need her to use Rollout again.” “Stomp,” the mayor ordered, to which Miltank prepared himself. “Dodge it and use Pound,” Spike ordered, to which Treecko avoided Miltank's stomp and used his tail to hit her. “Treckooooo,” Treecko shouted as he hit Miltank who was sent flying, “TAANKKK.” “Miltank,” the mayor worried about her companion, but Miltank stood up ready to continue. “I admit that was very clever, but you won't be able to dodge this attack,” the mayor told him, “Miltank, use Rollout.” “Bingo,” Spike smiled. Miltank began to spin around and addressed Treecko. “Wait,” Spike thought. Miltank moved closer to Treecko who seemed motionless. “Just a little more,” Spike thought, starting to sweat. Miltank was only half a meter away from Treecko. “NOW,” Spike shouted, “TREECKO, USE POUND.” “KOOOO,” Treecko shouted, using his tail to hit Miltank which was thrown against the wall like a baseball. CRASHHH. “MILTANK,” the mayor shouted when she saw her Pokémon which had collided with the wall, there were spirals in its eyes. “Miltank cannot continue, the winner is Treecko,” Amethyst Star announced. “VERY WELL DONE TREECKO,” Spike celebrated when he knew that this was his first victory, although he knew that it was not over since the mayor still had one Pokémon left. “That was a good move Treecko,” Cozy Glow yelled from the stands. “Treecko Tree,” Treecko smiled. “Miltank come back,” the mayor returned Miltank to his pokeball, “Good job Miltank, you did very well.” The mayor looked at Spike with a smile, “Very well done Spike, you managed to use Rollout to your advantage, I'm impressed.” “Thank you, Mayor,” Spike thanked. “But that trick won't work again, so you better get ready,” the mayor continued as she pulled out another pokeball and tossed it into the air, “Go Wigglytuff.” That's when an adorable looking pink Pokémon came out that looked like some kind of stuffed animal. “Dawww, how cute,” said Cozy Glow, hugging Dilcy. “Go ahead Spike, show me that you are worthy of this gym's badge,” the mayor told him. And this time, with confidence in his voice, Spike responded, “Of course I am, go get her Treecko.” Both of them smiled as Treecko charged, ready to defeat Wigglytuff and earn his train another Gym Badge.
