> Stargazer > by Brynnstic > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Solar System > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight was no stranger to the sciences of attraction and what not. She knew just about everything about anything when it came to science. As long as the evidence was there and the outcome was logical, she could figure it out. What she struggled with was the more nonlinear aspect of life, specifically emotions. Navigating social situations definitely wasn’t her strong point. Thats not entirely her fault, though, she was raised to be very studious. So what if it affected how she interacted with others? Who needs to understand social boundaries anyway! Well. Apparently socialising and normalising human connection is far more important than Twilight realised. After her… incident… with Midnight Sparkle, it was safe to say she’s had a certain infatuation with her saviour. It wasn’t something she was proud of. It felt like a blemish on her social track record. Her first real friendship in years and she just had to go and make it creepy. On the outside, her friendship wish Sunset was as normal as it could be. They hung out frequently outside of school, they studied together, they did video calls. It was nothing out of the ordinary for a high-school friendship. Twilight treated the rest of her new friends the same, albeit she usually had Sunset by her side. Twilight tended to refrain from hanging out with the other girls alone, it made her feel anxious. With Sunset, however, all those anxious feelings just seemed to melt away into pure infatuation. Twilight tried to keep this obsession to herself. She didn’t want any of her new friends to think of her differently, she couldn’t afford it. She didn’t have anywhere else left to go if she blew this. So, Twilight found other ways to stay close to Sunset. She implemented a back door into Sunset’s phone so that she could access her camera at any time. Not to be creepy, of course, just to make sure she’s safe. Safe in the comfort of her own home.. Maybe it was a bit of a stretch, but Twilight was determined to find the logic in her actions. Logic and reason were all that she knew. It was hard to give that up, even in the face of this obsessive behaviour. Like all things, it would probably pass soon enough, Twilight just had to wait it out. And while she waits, she can silently watch Sunset through her camera. > Telescopes > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight awoke to the sound of her phone vibrating on her bedside table. She groggily felt around before locating the buzzing electronic, sluggishly typing in her password. It was a message from Rarity in the girls’ group chat. What could she possibly want this early… Twilight thought to herself as she checked the time. 11:34am. Stars, she must’ve stayed up later than usual. Her alarm must have malfunctioned. Should probably fix that... Twilight opened the message from Rarity, who seemed very excited by the tone of her messages: “GIRLS! I’m feeling particularly wonderful today and I thought it would be nice for us to go out! ” Twilight raised her eyebrows slightly at the notion. Going out didn’t seem too bad. She was running out of time before school started up again, it might be nice to see her friends! Plus, she really needed to go outside, being a nerd comes with its downfalls. She decided to scroll down in the chat and see if anyone else had volunteered to go. Pinkie was an obvious yes, she’d sent at least 20 thumbs-up emojis following Rarity’s invite, and Rainbow made a comment regarding a new sports outlet at the mall she’d like to visit. Twilight wasn’t sure where the other girls were, maybe they were sleeping like she was. Well, probably not Applejack. She’s up at dawn and down at sunset, no time to sleep in. Speaking of which, Twilight wondered if Sunset would be keen on hanging out with the girls today. While an outing sounded fun, and practical, Twilight wasn’t so sure her social skills would hold up if she were to brave this trip without Sunset. As if the stars were aligning in her favour, Twilight felt her phone buzz again. A response from Sunset. “Sounds fun :) I’m in!” Well. That makes things easier-! Twilight smiles to herself as she types in an eager “yes!” to the chat. The 5 girls set up a plan, deciding that Rarity would be the one to pick them all up since she had suggested the outing in the first place. Twilight had about 25 minutes to get ready. She set her phone back down on the nightstand, making sure to plug it in just for some extra power. Her hair was tangled and resembled some sort of feral animal’s nest. Twilight quickly undressed and gingerly stepped into the shower, she hated the feeling of the cold tile under her feet. She dutifully ran her fingers through her hair as water trickled down her body, trying to get the knots untangled as she added some shampoo. She scrubbed her hair until the soap was all sudsy, and honestly, very fun to play with! After a few minutes of waiting for the soap to set in, and messing with the bubbles, she rinsed off and shook out her hair like a wet dog. Twilight turned the water off and stepped out of the shower, grabbing a soft yellow towel she’d gotten from Sunset as a gift recently. The towel had quickly become her favourite. As she dried herself off, she opened the bathroom door to check her phone: 5 minutes left to get ready, the perfect about of time. Twilight decided her hair would dry just fine naturally, so she got dressed in her typical get-up and stuffed her bag with a few hair ties just in case she needed them. The accessories weren’t the only things floating around in her bag, though. Twilight had recently been working on a special project, of sorts. A tiny camera which could be easily attached to any article of clothing using a pin on the back. She didn’t have any bad intentions, of course, it was just a test. A trinket to help her with her infatuation regarding her best friend. “No body, no crime”, as she liked to put it. Was it truly wrong if Sunset didn’t even know she was spying on her? It’s not like she wasn’t already staring at the poor girl through her own phone camera. Moral dilemas aside, Twilight carefully placed the box containing the device inside her bag. She had one chance to make this work, because if it failed, somebody would certainly notice. Twilight let the girls know she was ready, set her phone in her bag, and waited for any further messages. Today was gonna be a good day.
