> Dinky Who > by Saro0fdemonz > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > What could go wrong? > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Absolutely Not! Ya'll got chores t' do and ah need ya around th' house. Ya can't jus' go adventurin whenever ya'll feel like it. Ya'll are still mah lil fillies and ah won't stand fer ya'll goin off an gettin yerselves hurt." Applebloom argued with her daughters. "But ma! Dinky needs our help!" Hayseed attempted to argue back, only to have the elder mare give her The Look. The one look every foal feared, The Mom Look. Penny held her head high and dared to look into her mothers eyes. "Momma, we ain't little foals anymore. We're big ponies, we fought in th' ancient war jus' like everypony else and we fought Discord just like everypony else. Dinky jus' wants t' see some sights, nothin dangerous, nothin nearly as dangerous as what we've already done ma. We're goin whether ya let us or not!" She stamped her hoof to make her point, a determined look on her face as she stared down her mother. Applebloom wasn't one to give up easily, but she saw the logic in her daughters words. The yellow mare blinked as Pip sat beside her, grinning a little. He chuckled and looked at the twins. "The two of you have really grown over the years. Your mother is just scared for you and being protective. But all little fillies have to wander on their on for a while, even if you aren't so little anymore. Just promise us you'll be careful." "P...PIP! Ya aren't honestly lettin them leave in that crazy blue box are ya?!" Applebloom said to her husband in shock. "Well they only have my permission so far, they still need your blessing Bloom and I really think you should let them. They are going to go anyway, why not let them go on our terms?" he said with a smile. Applebloom bit her lip and sighed. "A...Alright...jus' be careful...ok?" she pulled the twins into a gentle hug, smiling as they nuzzled her. "We will be ma, we'll be back before ya know it." Hayseed said as they pulled away. Dinky smiled, putting on her hat. "Well if all is well then we can be on our way. Theres no need to worry Applebloom, I'll take good care of your twins." "Ah know ya will Dinks, ah jus' worry about em. Ya'll be careful alright?" Dinky smiled, giving her friend a final hug goodbye. "We'll be back before Dinner" Dinky said with a smile as she left the Apple household with her friends in tow. Together they stepped into the waiting TARDIS outside, Applebloom and Pip watching as the box whirred for a moment and faded out of view. "They've grown up so much." Pip said with a smile. "Are ya sure about this Pip?" Applebloom asked worridly. "Not in the slightest Applebloom." "Then why let them go?!" "Because i'm use to this feeling. Its gotten me far in life." "That makes no sense at all Pip. How has being unsure ever helped ya?" "When I proposed, I wasn't sure at all that you would say yes." He said simply before going back into the house. Applebloom stood there in shock for a moment and chuckled a little. "Then ah guess they'll be alright." "Ah can't believe we're goin on another adventure! This is gonna be amazin!" Hayseed cheered, bouncing around the main console. "Calm down Hayseed, we don't even know where we're goin yet!" Penny laughed. "Well, The Doctor did tell me about a Paradise Planet thats not too far away. Although we might not want to visit it just yet. Lets see" Dinky put a hoof to her chin as she looked over the controls, jumping in surprise as a bell began to ring. "What the hay is that?!" Hayseed asked looking around for the sound, Dinky's eyes wide. "Hold onto something!" the Unicorn screamed, pulling a few levers, the TARDIS lurching back and forth. "Whats happening?!" Penny Apple asked, screaming as she fell, slamming into one of the walls and clinging to anything she could wrap her hooves around. Finally everything stopped, smoke drifting from the console. "No...NO no no no no!" Dinky zipped around the console, her sonic screwdriver whirring quietly. "That can't be right..." she mumbled, pulling a lever in her magic. Penny gasped as she found herself suddenly back on the floor, looking around. "What the hay just happened?" "I'm not entirely sure. Its almost as if we crashed into something in the void between dimensions. But that should be impossible...unless...It were a void ship. But thats impossible. Nothing can Touch a void ship, let alone crash into one." "Dinky, ya'll are ramblin again. What in th' hay is a void ship?" Penny asked. Dinky sat down, putting a hoof to her chin. "Its something that is made to move through the void between dimensions. In the same way a normal ship would journey over water. But we shouldn't be able to touch it. Which means what we crashed into can't be a void ship, it has to be something else. Something that can move through the void." "Well what if it were jus' another TARDIS?" Hayseed asked. Dinky blinked and laughed. "Thats impossible, this is the last surviving TARDIS in existance Hayseed. There shouldn't be any others besides whats left at the end of the universe." "Well what else moves 'round way out here?" Penny said, raising an eyebrow. "I guess your right. It wouldn't hurt to take a look and see where we are." Dinky opened the TARDIS door and gasped, quickly slamming it shut. "OKAY! Time to go! Now!" Dinky ran over to the console, the lights flickering on and off. "NO!" "Dinky what the hay is goin on!?" The twins asked. "They are stealing power from the TARDIS, if we don't leave now we'll..." the lights shut off and the TARDIS began to shake. "Dinky...i'm scared...w..whats gonna happen t' us?" "Y..yea...Whats out there?" "Its the Angels...they've hijacked the TARDIS." > Complications > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "What in the hay is an Angel?" Hayseed asked as they sat in a corner, Dinky keeping her eyes open and scanning the room. "They are creatures that technically don't exist. Not until you look at them anyway. They are called 'The Weeping Angels'. They are extremely dangerous when unseen." "Ya'll said we weren't gonna do nothin dangerous!" Penny screamed. "I didn't think we would be! The Angels shouldn't even have been in the void to begin with. None of this makes any sense!" "Dinky, jus' calm down. Ya'll need t' think and figure this out." "Y...Your right." She took a slow relaxing breath and looked around. "Alright, its obvious that there is at least one angel outside right now. It can't be strong enough alone to have drained the TARDIS so quickly, there must be more, several, at least four" the unicorn rambled on as she paced, an idea popping into her head. "Aha! If they are all holding the TARDIS in place then they've doomed themselves. Hayseed get over there and be ready to pull that big lever, it'll take all of your weight to pull it down. Penny, when I give the word I want you to open the door and whatever you do, DO. NOT. BLINK. Do you understand?" She said, gazing into the mentioned ponies eyes. Penny nodded. "uh..y..yea. I won't blink." "No you don't understand. If you blink then its all over Penny, you won't get back in time for dinner and we won't get out of here." "Got it, no blinkin'" Penny took her place at the door, preparing herself for whatever lay behind it. Dinky meanwhile zipped around the console. "C'mon, just need a Spark, just one Spark...wait a minute..." she bit her lip and smacked the screwdriver against her horn, gasping in pain as a few magic sparks flew from it, landing on the console and filling it with life. "NOW! Pull the lever! Penny, Open the door!" Both ponies already in position did as ordered, Penny glaring at the statue in front of her, her body shaking as fear set in. "Dinky! What the hay is this creepy thing!?" she screamed, keeping her eyes on it. "Just keep looking at it! Do not blink!" Dinky called back. "Hayseed keep that lever held down!" the pony nodded, holding down the lever with all of her strength as Dinky twisted knobs and pulled levers. "Here we go!" She yelled, slamming her hoof down on a big red button. Penny watched as the Angel vanished from view and blinked in surprise, screaming as an Angel appeared in front of her, arms outstretched and almost wrapped around her. "Penny! Don't blink!" Dinky screamed "Ah'm sorry! Ah won't blink again! Ah swear! j..jus' get it away!" she screamed, taking a step back. "Don't let it touch you! I don't know what will happen if it touches you inside the TARDIS. Hayseed, lift up on the lever just slightly, Penny, when I tell you to, Blink." "WHAT!? Ya told me not t' blink!" "Its the only way to get rid of the Angel! do you trust me?" "a..Ah trust ya!" "Alright..1...2...3...BLINK!" Penny braced herself and blinked, screaming as the TARDIS shook and spun for what seemed an eternity. Finally the ponies found themselves on their sides, light shining through the door of the TARDIS. Dinky was the first on her hooves, sighing in relief. She laughed and pulled Penny into a hug, kissing her forehead. "Oh you did wonderfully! Alright now, lets get back to that vacation!" "Dinky, ah really think we should jus' go back home." Hayseed said as she dizzily pushed to her hooves. "Oh come on, thats no fun. We've only just started!" She stood in front of the shaken mare, scanning her with the Sonic Screwdriver for a moment, doing the same with Penny. "Hm, everything looks good, nopony looked into the Angels eyes right?" they shook their heads and Dinky smiled. "Good! Good, well lets get going shall we?" "Dinky, what happened to that...thing?" Penny asked, having yet to blink again since being given the command to. "Its stuck staring at a reflection of itself on a parallel Dimension generated by our sudden shift or rather a mirror reflection. It was only for a split second, but thats all we needed. You see Penny, Anything that takes the image of an Angel is an Angel." "Ah don't get it..." Hayseed mumbled. Dinky simply shrugged and closed the door to the TARDIS, looking over the console "Alright then, lets see if we can find that perfect vacation spot." the Twins blinked and looked at each other for a moment before sighing and giving a nod. There was no arguing with the unicorn. Dinky smiled and pulled the lever, holding it down for a moment before finally lifting it. She pushed the doors of the TARDIS open and blinked. "H...Huh?! Piper?!" "WHAT?!" The twins exclaimed. They all stood in the opening of the TARDIS, staring at the cloaked pony. He gave them a small smile before running off into the trees. "Was that...Piper?!" Hayseed asked. "Y...Yes...it was..." "But he's dead! We saw him leave with Harmony! How can he be here?! wait...where is here anyway?" Penny spoke up, stepping outside the TARDIS. "Oh boy...this is not a vacation Spot...this is the War of Nightmare..." sorry for another extremely short chapter but i've been extremely short on time and just now thought up the ending of this chapter...thanks to a friend and some epic music. Please keep in mind that this story takes place before 'Pipers Tale' and I hope you enjoy it! > A Nightmare come True > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "We've gotta go after him!" Hayseed said as she rushed after Piper. "Wait Hayseed!" Dinky called after her, sighing a little. "Doesn't anypony ever listen..." she mumbled, blinking as Penny zipped after her sister. "I guess not..." The unicorn closed the TARDIS, gave it a smile, and trotted after the Twins, knowing they were only going to get themselves in trouble. She let her mind wander as she followed after them. What could Piper possibly be doing here in the middle of the War of Nightmare? Is he a part of the war? Is this what Harmony meant by taking him away? It doesn't make any sense... "You there! Halt!" a voice called out. Dinky froze and looked around, seeing no one. She looked up, seeing two Dark Armor clad Pegasi. "In the name of Nightmare you shall be judged! Where does your Loyalty lie?" one of them asked. "Right here!" a voice rang out. The pegasi grunted in pain as the cloaked figure landed on its back, slamming a hoof blade through it and quickly tackling the other pegasus to the ground, jamming his blade into the pinned pegasi's throat, effectively silencing both of them. Dinky just stood there in shock. "P...Piper?! What are you doing?!" "Its good to see you too Dinky" he said softly, lifting the hood of his cloak. "This is the way things are now. There isn't any other way, there isn't any other choice. These aren't even pegasi anymore. Just look at their wings." Dinky looked at the corpses around Piper, seeing that the wings were those of bats, not pegasi. "These are..." "Yes, the first of Luna's Royal Night Guard, or rather Nightmare Moons Elite Soldiers." "There he is! Get him!" another Soldier cried, Pegasi and unicorns alike, all clad in Nightmares Armor rushed toward Piper. "Get out of here!" he yelled to Dinky, roaring as he flung away his cloak, rushing toward the Soldiers. Frost licked his mane and slowly snow began to fall, shards of ice stabbing into any soldier too slow to avoid them. Piper drew his hoofblade once more and pounced, ending yet another life. Dinky could only stand there in horror and watch as the friend she had watched grow up continued to slaughter pony after pony. "Dinky!" Hayseed screamed, tackling her out of the way of a spear that would've taken her head off. Penny tackled the pegasus that had attacked Dinky, keeping him pinned to the ground. "Alright! Talk! who are ya and why are ya attackin mah friend!?" She screamed. The pegasus merely chuckled and bucked her off of him and into a tree. "Penny!" Hayseed rushed over to her sister, screaming in pain as the pegasus stomped on her tail, smacking his hoof across her face as she turned to face him. Piper froze at the sound of the screaming. His ice cold stare falling on the offending Pegasus. The Soldiers around him froze as well, weapons poised and ears tucked back. Not a single one of them had been able to injure the fabled Loyalty even when he was in a state of calm. Now that he was angry...None of them wanted to take the chance to attack and all were too afraid to run for fear of his monstrous magical abilities. Piper ignored them, marching towards the pegasus that had attacked his friends. The soldier had yet to see Piper and raised his hoof to strike Hayseed once more. One soldier shook free of his fear and threw his spear at Pipers back. The orange pegasus chuckled a little and ducked under it, letting the spear slam into the head of the Soldier in front of him, pinning him to a tree. Piper turned again, the Soldiers shaking visibly under his gaze. "Dinky, take Hayseed and Penny and go home. This isn't your fight." He said softly. "We can't abandon you Piper! Not now that we've found you! You can come back with us!" She argued. "I'm sorry, But I can't go back. Not yet..." he said quietly before rushing back into the Soldiers, a few tried to run and were quickly swallowed by the ice that rose from the grass around them, a few lucky ones managed to fly high enough to escape Pipers wrath and quickly flew away. He cursed, stomping his hoof and spun, staring at the three ponies. "Why are you here? Are you trying to get yourselves killed?!" he yelled. They flinched and he sighed, sitting for a moment and taking a few deep breaths, his eyes fading to a dim light green. "Y...Your eyes..." Dinky said quietly, her Sonic Screwdriver whirring quietly as she held it in front of his face. He pushed it away with his hoof and blinked to clear the spots from his vision. Dinky stared at the readings with wide eyes. "Its changed even more now..." "Yea, thanks for warning me about that before." he spat sarcastically, walking past her and checking on Hayseed first, placing his hoof against the mark on her cheek. "Looks like some bruising. Nothing that can't be fixed." He said quietly before walking over to Penny, gasping in surprise as she tackled him, crying and burying her muzzle into his chest. "Ah thought ya'll were gone fer good Piper...we all thought ya'll were never comin back...o..only Strawberry...s..she's th' only one who thought ya'd come back..." "But I haven't come back, you came here. Wait..Strawberry?! You didn't bring her here too did you?!" he yelled. Penny shook her head. "W...We were jus...jus' goin' on a vacation...t' help us relax..." Penny sobbed, clinging to him. He sighed quietly and hugged her. "You should go back, as soon as you can. Its not safe here." "Come back with us Piper...yer family needs ya, Strawberry needs ya, we need.." he put a hoof over her mouth, his ear flicking. "Shh." he gently slid out from under her and looked around, his ear flicking again. "Do you hear that?" he said quietly. They all shook their heads. "Exactly...its completely silent..." They all looked around realizing the same thing. No birds, no animals, nothing. Not even the wind blowing through the trees. "So here I find you Loyalty. Hiding in the forest for fear of facing me." Piper gritted his teeth as the voice reached them. "I fear nothing!" he called out, drawing his hoofblade. Nightmare appeared before him chuckling quietly. "Do you honestly think your little sword can do anything to me Loyalty?!" "You know the only reason I let you live was because your sister couldn't stand the thought of losing you Luna." "DO NOT CALL ME BY THAT NAME PEASENT!" Nightmare shrieked, leaping toward him. Piper spun and bucked his hooves against her, sending her flying into a tree. He walked over to her, placing his blade against her throat. "I know your in there Luna and somehow I'm going to bring you back. I promised your sister and I won't break my promise." He walked away, lifting up his cloak before glancing at Nightmare one last time. "And I won't spare your life again." With that he vanished, taking Dinky and the Twins with him. Dinky blinked, finding herself in the TARDIS. "H..How did you.." she turned, finding Piper on his side and panting heavily. "Piper!" she sat beside him, scanning him with her sonic Screwdriver. "Hayseed, get some towels! Penny, cold water!" they nodded, rushing off to gather everything. Dinky put a hoof on Pipers forehead. "Your burning up..." "I...I need.t..to get out..." he mumbled. "Get out?" "Out of...the...TARDIS..." he gasped. Dinky blinked, smacking her forehead as realization set in. She lifted him in her magic and opened the doors of the TARDIS, quickly carrying him outside. The pegasus gasped, gulping down air and panting heavily, shaking free of Dinky's magic and landing on his hooves. "I get it now Piper. Your bound to..." "Shh." he glared at her. "I'm sorry...I didn't know..." "I told you I can't come back yet." he growled, turning his gaze away from her. "But if you knew...why did you..." "Because you need to get out of here. Luna isn't herself. She's become..." "Nightmare Moon. I know. Piper this is the War of Nightmare, this is when Celestia sealed Luna within the Moon!" he turned to her. "I know...she asked me to find another way...but there isn't one...And I don't know how to tell her that. Good bye Dinky." he kicked the door to the TARDIS shut and walked away. Dinky tried to open the door but it wouldn't budge. The twins came back to find her crying with her head against the door. "Dinky whats wrong?! wheres Piper?!" they asked together. The unicorn said nothing, merely sitting there. She gasped as the door fell open and gulped as she looked up. "There you are." Nightmare said with a grin.
