Twilight’s eyes scanned over the letter with tears in her eyes, desperately looking to see if there were any mistakes in it while Spike watched worriedly, seeing how upset Twilight looked.

To My Accomplished Daughter,

I’m very sorry that you have to tell you like this, but I do not know any other way to do so.

Your father and I are getting a divorce. Believe me, I was hoping it would not come down to this, but as it is, but unfortunately, our differences have caused us to drift apart. Your father found me too reckless and I found him a bit too reserved, so naturally fights started to blossom.

Don’t worry, we still remain on good terms but the spark is gone between us. I’m very sorry.

Love Twilight Velvet

Twilight wiped her eyes sadly, she did not misread the letter. It was indeed true that her parents were getting a divorce.

“Twilight, I am so sorry.” Spike spoke with pure sympathy, he’s been with Twilight and her parents for almost his entire life, so to hear this must be heartbreaking.

“I-I just can’t believe I didn’t notice the strains in their relationship when I last saw them. They always seemed so close and…” Twilight stammered incoherently before Spike placed a claw on her back comfortingly.

“I know it’s tough but look on the bright side, they’re still on good terms.” Spike smiled reassuringly.

“But not all relationships work out that way, some can end up on bad terms and if they can break up, then what if… what if…” Twilight began hyperventilating, she couldn’t even finish that thought, the idea of losing her just felt too awful to bare.

Spike immediately knew what she was talking about and gripped her shoulders, “Twilight! Don’t worry, you won’t lose Starlight.”

“How do you know that?!” Twilight asked incredulously.

“Because I’ve seen you two together, you bring the best out of each other.” Spike argued with a confident glare.

“Well what if I do something stupid?” Twilight began pacing around the room.

“Oh please. Starlight has done her fair share of idiotic things in her life and you’ve gotten through that, she’d understand.” Spike smiled optimistically.

“Well at least she learns from her mistakes.” Twilight said bitterly, “I sometimes cause chaos with my gigantic freak outs constantly and my stress can cause rifts between us. What if Starlight gets tired of me? I’m scared.”

She then tears up again before hearing hoof steps behind her and immediately knew who those belonged to.

“Uh… is everything okay in here?” Starlight asked curiously as she entered the room, noticing Twilight’s lowered head as she walked by.

“I’m fine Starlight. Just some minor issue, nothing to go too deep into.” Twilight giggled nervously, intentionally stepping on the letter so Starlight would not see the incriminating paper.

“Twilight? Is everything okay?” Starlight asked with a raised eyebrow, she was suspicious and despite not trying to look intimidating at all, Twilight wanted to form into a puddle at her mere look.

“Everything’s fine, don’t worry.” Twilight reassured her with another nervous laugh, “I was… just… preparing assignments for the next semester, yeah. Gotta go.”

She teleported without giving Starlight a chance to say anything, to which the unicorn turned to Spike.

“What was that all about? I feel like Twilight’s hiding something from me.” Starlight said, hurt seeping into her tone.

“It’s not you Starlight, it’s deeper than that.” Spike explained as he picked up the letter Twilight left behind and gave it to Starlight who intercepted it with her magic. Once she read it, she immediately felt sympathy for Twilight.

“Oh Celestia, I can’t believe this.” Starlight said sadly, “I never thought Twilight’s parents would break up.”

“Yeah. Twilight’s taking it pretty hard.” Spike nodded solemnly, still saddened by the news himself.

“But why did Twilight keep this from me? She knows I’ll be there for her.” Starlight asked, still feeling confused by the situation.

“Twilight’s in a very emotional state. She thinks that if her parents can get a divorce, that your relationship might end up crashing down as well and what it will mean for your friendship.” Spike explained.

“But I will never leave Twilight’s side, relationship or not. She means way too much for me to leave in the dust.” Starlight spoke firmly with no hesitation.

“I know that, but I think she needs a little refresher.” Spike tells the unicorn softly.

Starlight nods before teleporting away from the halls and near Twilight’s bedroom door which she begins knocking, “Twilight. I know you’re in there.”

“I-I’m busy Starlight. C-Come back later.” Twilight said from inside the room, hyperventilating as she did so.

“You’re not busy, I know you’re crying in there. Spike told me about the divorce.” Starlight narrowed her eyes, speaking sternly as she did so.

“Can you just leave me alone?” Twilight asked harshly from in the room, “I don’t want to talk about it! You’ll probably just leave me too!”

“Well I’m not going anywhere, because I’m too worried about you to let you drown yourself in tears.” Starlight rebutted before her eyes glistened sadly, “Twilight I love you, and I swear, I will never leave your side.”

The door still stood closed until it slowly opened and Twilight peeked out and whispered, “You promise?”

Starlight smiled, glad that Twilight was starting to open up a little, “Whether we’re friends or lovers, I will not leave. You’re the most important pony in my life, and I would not trade you away for all of Equestria.”

Twilight immediately embraced Starlight who hugged her back, but once they released each other, Starlight knew she needed to know what was going on from Twilight’s eye.

“So why are you so worried I’ll leave?” Starlight asked softly, careful to keep the alicorn from stressing herself out.

“It’s just that… you’re always growing and learning from your dark past, meanwhile I still suffer from my anxiety.” Twilight explained with a sigh.

“Twilight. You’re literally the Princess Of Friendship, I think when it comes to learning from your past, you excel at it.” Starlight smirked, hoping it would help make her feel better.

“It’s just that… I’ve almost lost you twice in my life.” Twilight reminded the unicorn.

“Hm?” Starlight hummed in confusion.

“Cozy Glow almost sent you to another dimension because I let her plans go as far as they did, and then there’s the Pony Of Shadows.” Twilight sighed.

“Twilight, Cozy Glow knew full well what she was doing and fooled us all. And you most certainly did not almost lose me when we brought back the Pillars.” Starlight reassured her.

“But what about when I let Starswirl go on and on about how there was no way to ever help a villain? I didn’t stand up to him and made you question your faith in me.” Twilight questioned.

Starlight winced a bit at that memory before saying, “I will admit, I did feel like crap that day, but I wasn’t planning on leaving. If I so much as thought you were going down a bad path, I would make sure you wouldn’t. Our relationship is not like your parents’. I love you, and nothing is going to change that.”

Twilight smiled brightly at this before hugging Starlight again, “That goes double for me.”
