Starlight wants to know if she and Trixie’s relationship means more than just pleasure. Trixie’s not sure if she can answer that.

Starlight trusted Trixie. She really did. Trixie and her had a special bond with each other, so special that they could often make out endlessly.

Though Starlight did wonder if their relationship meant more to Trixie than just simple pleasure and Trixie wondered if she could be honest with herself.

I don’t know

Starlight always thought she and Trixie had a good relationship, even as friends. They just clicked when they first met and Starlight knew she could depend on Trixie whenever things got tough.

When the two became girlfriends, it was great. Starlight and Trixie had no problem being intimate with one another. They never went further than make-out sessions but Starlight could tell there was passion in those endeavors.

Though… Starlight wasn’t sure if the passion went beyond their intimate moments.

Whenever they did stuff like dates or just hung out, it never really felt romantic. Trixie didn’t really seem to feel much of a spark whenever they did such things. She didn’t have to say anything, Starlight figured that was the case.

Trixie certainly cared for Starlight, and that much was certain given how close their friendship was but as a lover, was it the same level as Starlight cared for her?

She needed to confide in somepony about this or in this case, some dragon.

Currently Spike and Starlight were at the map table when Starlight explained the situation, “And… I really can’t be sure if me and Trixie have a genuine relationship or if the relationship is just based on how much she wants me for her desires.”

“Wow, that complicated huh?” Spike said sympathetically before asking, “How come you’re asking me about this? Why not go to Twilight?”

“I feel like I need an unbiased point of view for this.” Starlight explains, “Twilight would probably tell me to have faith in Trixie but I doubt that’ll work. I need to figure this out.”

Spike hummed in thought before saying, “Well… if you want my point of view, I feel it’s best you just talk to Trixie about this. I doubt you’ll get anywhere by just trying to figure it out on your own. It didn’t work for Big Mac and Sugar Belle.”

“I don’t know Spike.” Starlight sighed, “I don’t want to come off as obsessive or act as if I’m not trusting Trixie enough.”

“Starlight. I know it’s hard but it’s best if you ask her. Everypony has doubts in their relationship, I remember when Big Mac was questioning if things with Sugar Belle were going to work out or not but communication is the best way to get rid of these doubts.” Spike said reassuringly.

Starlight breathed in and out before smiling, “I guess that’s a fair point. Thank you Spike. I’m not sure if I could’ve gone to anypony else for this.”

“You probably could’ve gone to Twilight but you’re welcome.” Spike smiled back warmly.

Starlight soon breathed out a sigh as she walked to the door of Trixie’s caravan, “You can do this Starlight. You’re just gonna ask your girlfriend if she truly loves you. Shouldn’t be a problem.”

She chuckled nervously before gulping and knocking Trixie’s door, and soon Trixie answered. She was certainly giddy to see it was Starlight, that was a good sign.

“Ooh. Hey Starlight.” Trixie smiled with half-lidded eyes, “Are you in one of those moods again?”

Starlight sighed, of course it was about making out.

“Trixie… I actually need to talk to you about that.” Starlight sighed.

“What?” Trixie asked curiously, “Is Trixie slacking. Don’t worry Starlight. Next time I’ll do better.”

“No no.” Starlight blushed with a grin, “You’re doing just fine Trix.”

She then continued, “The thing is, I noticed how much passion you put into our intimate moments but other than that… you don’t seem too invested in doing anything romantic with me.” Starlight explained softly, “Look, I’m not mad at you, but I just want to know…”

Trixie listened intently before Starlight spoke up, “Do you love me or am I just a fling?”

Trixie bit her lip, she was afraid of Starlight asking that.

Truth be told, Trixie did not know if she truly loved Starlight. She valued her a heck of a lot, that much was clear, but she wasn’t sure if she could say she loves her.

Trixie thought she would be invested in doing romantic things since she cares so much about Starlight but… she just couldn’t.

However, when they ever got intimate, Trixie always felt a rush whenever they made out. It just felt so good to her but when it came to actually doing romantic dates without the intimacy, she just felt bored.

Trixie realized what her answer was, and she doubted Starlight would be happy.

“In all honesty… I think I was just fooling myself to believe that it really was love.” Trixie sighed sadly.

“I was afraid of that.” Starlight lowered her head down.

“Starlight. You mean a lot to me, and I really wanted to feel the same way as you did for me.” Trixie admits, “I really thought I did too. After all, you are a very attractive mare but in the end, all I really think I felt was just lust.”

“You mean…” Starlight began softly.

“Yes. I realize I only started this relationship with you to satisfy my desires.” Trixie finished, clearly ashamed, “We could try being friends with benefits but… you clearly want more than that.”

“Yeah. I do.” Starlight nodded sadly.

“I’m so sorry Starlight.” Trixie apologized sincerely.

“It’s okay Trixie.” Starlight smiled reassuringly, “You never meant to hurt me. We’re still friends though, right?”

“I think it’ll be a while before we go back to our normal roots, we did share some very personal moments together.” Trixie admits with a sheepish chuckle, “But I think we’re still be on good terms.”

Starlight shrugged, that was fair.

“Glad we had this conversation Trix.” Starlight smiled brightly before teleporting away and back to the map room of the castle where Spike was reading a comic.

Spike smiled before asking, “So how’d things go?”

“Well… we broke up.” Starlight sighed.

Spike seemed shocked to hear that, after recovering from it, he then asked, “Are you gonna be okay?”

Starlight smiled reassuringly at Spike, “Honestly, I think I will. Me and Trixie are on good terms and I no longer have to deal with any doubts of our loveless relationship.”

“It wasn’t loveless on your side though.” Spike pointed out.

“I know and I will admit this stings, but I’ll push through it.” Starlight smiled before embracing Spike, “Besides, with friends like you, who needs romance.” She smirked teasingly.

Spike giggled before hugging Starlight back, Starlight knew that it’d be a little tough but like she said, she had friends like Spike by her side.
