> Unfortunate > by ManeBrony > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Accident > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a bright, sunny, warm but not hot day in Ponyville. Twilight Sparkle was having a lovely time, watching as her friend, Rainbow Dash, practiced her flying maneuvers and tricks. Twilight wasn't usually Rainbow's first pick for an audience member, usually going for Pinkie Pie or Applejack, but she did still enjoy watching from time to time. "Alright Twilight, get ready! I'm testing out my new trick!" Rainbow yelled down from above. Twilight nodded and replyed, "Please be careful Rainbow Dash. This is your first time trying so there's no reason to show off." Rainbow waved her hoof dismissively, "Yeah yeah whatever. Here I go!" Rainbow flew straight up into the air. This trick involved many incredibly sharp turns in order to write, or draw things in the sky with clouds. Rainbow flew up quite a distance, and then doves down, staring the trick. She wrote a few lines of whatever she had in mind, and it was working quite well. That is, until it wasn't. On one of the turns Rainbow lost control, and her speed made in incredibly hard to get it back. She flipped and flailed in the air, but eventually got her flying back in order, albeit a bit disoriented. Rainbow sighed in relief, "Phew, that could have been bad!" Twilight attempted to call out to Rainbow, "Rainbow! Look out for -" Twilight's attempt to warn Rainbow arrived far too late, and the pegasus ran head first into a mountain face, falling out of the sky immediately after. Twilight stood up quickly, "Oh no..." She immediately teleported herself to where Rainbow had, crash, landed. Twilight knelt down and examined the pegasus. She was unconscious and, more than a little bloody. It would not be unreasonable to assume her skull had been cracked, hitting the mountain at that speed. Twilight was panicking a little, seeing the state her friend was in, until she noticed something. Rainbow Dash seemed oddly... still. I'm fact she seemed entirely motionless. Twilight shook her head, "Oh no no please no," Twilight placed her ear up to Rainbow's chest, and her hoof on Rainbow's neck. She stayed there for a while, examining closely. No heart beat, no pulse. Rainbow was in fact dead. Twilight stood up, looking down at the motionless body. She stared for a good while before letting out a sigh of... what seemed like annoyance more than anything else, "Of course Rainbow was the first one," she stated bluntly. Twilight used her magic to levitate the body, and began bringing it to her castle. She sighed once again and talked to herself as she walked, "Why am I not surprised. I told her! I told her to be careful. But nooooo," Twilight went on as she brought the body inside, and down to her basement. "Now who has to clean up after her? Twilight of course!" Twilight cleared out an area in the middle of the room and placed the body down on the ground. "Alright where is this stupid thing..." Twilight said to herself as she looked around the room for something. "Ah there you are!" she exclaimed when she spotted a book up on a high shelf, levitating it down and opening it up. "Alright let's she her..." she continued, while she flipped through the pages of her book. "Draw a circle around the body..." she said as she followed the directions in the book, "Seal any open wounds, and put any misplaced bones into their proper places," Twilight sighed once again and got to work doing as the book said. She used her magic to place everything in it's proper place and began sewing up to massive gash on Rainbow's face. Twilight looked back at the book, "and lastly... Ooh that seems a little more complicated than I remember... Ok here we go" Twilight ignited her horn, surrounding the body in a purple glow. Her eyes lit up with a similar glow, and the room darkened. Then, black tendrils emerged from several points on the circle Twilight had drawn, and they moved towards the body. As the spell continued, the ro darkened more, and the tendrils began moving inside the body, causing it to convulse. Twilight strained a bit as she preformed the, no doubt very difficult, spell. Once the tendrils had all entered into the body, there was a large purple explosion of energy, and then everything stopped. Twilight sighed, stopping her magic and panting in exhaustion. After a few seconds the, seemingly good as new, body of Rainbow Dash jolted up into a sitting position. "WOAH! WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED!?" Rainbow asked loudly. Twilight rubbed the area around her horn with her hoof and replied, "You died." Rainbow stared at Twilight for a long moment, "I... WHAT?!" Twilight nodded, "Yup. Crashed into a wall. Died on impact." Rainbow sat there in utter confusion, "So... Am I dead right now?!" Twilight rolled her eyes, "Thanks to me, no." Rainbow paused once again, "You're telling me that you... Brought me back to life!? You can do that!?" Twilight nodded, "Yes I can, and yes I did," Rainbow sat there for a while, before standing up in smiling, "That... Is.... AWESOME!" she ran up to Twilight excitedly, "That's amazing! That's so cool! That's- That's- Uh thank you! Ok a plain thank you is probably an insult if anything for something this crazy but I don't even know what else to say!" Twilight hold out her arm to keep Rainbow at a distance, as she was still quite unhappy with her, "You're welcome, Rainbow Dash." Rainbow calmed down a little and stepped back, "Wait, hold on, that seems like the kinda spell that would be, y'know, illegal? Kinda seems like dark magic or something," Twilight nodded, "Yes, it is dark magic, and yes, it is illegal. Very, very illegal," Rainbow tilted her head in confusion, "So, why do you know this spell exactly? And why did you do it if it's so illegal?" Twilight shrugged, "I'm the element of magic, I'm pretty sure that includes dark magic, seemed like an interesting thing to learn. As for why I did it... What do you think is more important to me, obeying the law, or keeping my friends alive and safe?" Rainbow opened her mouth to say something but stopped, before speaking, "Ok yeah true..." Twilight stood up and walked to a desk in the room. Rainbow began walking to the door, "Well, we totally gotta talk about this more once I y'know, process it. But until then thanks again, I'll totally be more careful next time!" Twilight hold up her hoof, "Wait, stay right there," Rainbow stopped and turned around to look at Twilight, "Huh? What is it?" Twilight took something out of a drawer in her desk and walked over to Rainbow. It looked like a rock with some carvings on it, including the symbol of a large eye in the middle. Rainbow tilted her head, "What's that?" Twilight held it up to Rainbow's face, "Memory stone," Rainbow stepped back a little, "Uh, didn't Sunset Shimmer and her friends destroy that thing?" Twilight nodded, "You would be surprised how easy something like this is to fix," Rainbow nodded, "Huh, cool... So, why do you have it right now exactly?" Twilight replied, "Now that you know dying isn't permanent, you're no doubt going to be far more reckless than you already are, and I'd rather this not be a weekly thing," Rainbow's eyes widened and she stepped back, "Uh hey Twilight you don't have to -" Rainbow was interrupted by bolt of magic from the stone, and she flopped onto the floor unconscious, although alive this time. Twilight levitated Rainbow over to a couch and layed her down, sighing once again as she went to go clean the blood from where Rainbow had died, "I really hope this doesn't happen again anytime soon. This won't go over well with Celestia," The End
