After nearly a full year of playing hostess to a diamond dog, Rarity finds herself fulfilling a new role

Following Twilight Sparkle's coronation as the sole ruler of Equestria, she decides to extend a friendly hoof to any and all sentient races that wish to join her new kingdom and to everyone's surprise, the diamond dogs agree to an alliance and are soon welcomed into the Unified Equestrian Empire. To cement the deal, they send one of their kind to live amongst the ponies in a kind of trial run. Due to her past experiences with the canines, Rarity volunteers to allow one to stay at her home and is shocked to discover that her temporary housemate is Rover, one of the diamond dogs that once held her captive. However, she strives to make his stay a pleasant one, regardless of anything that happened in the past and the two end up forming a close friendship. Now it seems their friendship is about to get a whole lot closer than either of them imagined.

"My, what a long day!"

Slipping into her fuzzy pink robe, Rarity propped up the pillows on her bed and sank into the mattress, letting out a sigh of contentment as she relaxed after the end of another prosperous yet exhausting day. Since the whole incident with the Legion of Doom and Twilight's coronation as Equestria's ruler, the days of rampant monsters and scheming villains appeared to be at an end. Now the only time something went awry was getting a wrong order at the coffee shop or a freak thunderstorm ruining a planned event and even then those kinds of things rarely happened. Equestria, it would seem, was at long last finally at peace and didn't need the Element Bearers to save the day from deranged changeling queens, thuggish centaurs or inexplicably evil fillies. Even Discord was, for the most part, being on his best behavior, the draconequus mainly sticking to that weird chaos dimension of his rather than getting up to any of his usual wacky antics, such as making it rain popcorn or turning the moon into a giant singing ball of cottage cheese.

However, this didn't mean that Rarity was just lounging about looking pretty; she was looking pretty and working her flank off. No more threats to Equestria meant that she had more time to focus on her businesses, which had a significant boost in popularity following the whole business with Grogar's bell. Everyone wanted to have a dress designed by the mare who made Princess Twilight Sparkle's coronation gown and, of course, helped to save the world for the one-billionth time. Rarity's schedule was almost always full, from coordinating Coloratura's outfits for her tour to manufacturing the latest accessories for Fleur de Lis to model with at her charity event in Manehattan. Success, however, was bittersweet as she was still single, the price of fame meaning that she had virtually no time for dating and most of her suitors were sycophantic hanger-ons or superficial perverts.

At least I have Rover to help me. He really does take a lot of the weight off me.

A week after her coronation, Twilight gathered her friends, Thorax, King Rutherford, Dragonlord Ember and Chancellor Neighsay for an important meeting concerning the current state of Equestria's inter-species affairs. She admitted to seeing the injustice of having a mostly equine society when it was an alliance between ponies, dragons, yaks, griffons, changelings, and hippogriffs that united against Queen Chrysalis, Lord Tirek and Cozy Glow. Henceforth, Twilight decreed that Equestria should be a more inclusive land and thus decided to formally invite other races to join their new alliance for a more peaceful and unified world. The response was almost immediate, with King Scorpan of the Gargoyle/Centaur Kingdom agreeing to an alliance, followed soon by the reindeer, zebras and Ornithians. More and more races sent their responses to Twilight, with some, like the kirins and Abyssinians, that were looking to form new bonds, while others, such as the minotaurs and trolls, were suspicious of the invitation and desiring to keep themselves isolated.

The most shocking letter arrived a few weeks later from Caninia, the home of the diamond dogs who, up until that point, were a mainly isolationist community and inhabited by a species that ponies knew frighteningly little about. The Seven Queens, the joint rulers of Caninia, had heard much about the ponies and their battles against many foes, especially the one where they won through their unity with other races of "surface dwellers" and desired to meet with them. Twilight, along with Spike, visited Caninia and met with the Queens, who acted cordial, if a bit wary of the newcomers. Finally, an agreement was reached: the Queens would send one of their own to live with the ponies and if that individual came back to them with a positive report, then Caninia would join the rest of Equestrian society. Returning to Canterlot with the news, Twilight reached out to her friends and Rarity was the first to volunteer, reasoning that it was for the good of Equestria and it would aid in her getting over her past experience as a diamond dog hostage.

However, imagine Rarity's shock when the diamond dog that arrived on her doorstep happened to be one of the trio of brutes that kidnapped her and forced her to dig for gems. The diamond dog, who was named Rover, was equally surprised, completely unaware as to the identity of his temporary hostess and not expecting to be reunited with "whiny unicorn lady." Despite this setback, Rarity was determined to see this thing through to the end and thus remained as polite and accommodating as she could afford to be towards her canine ex-captor, setting him up in one of her spare bedrooms and showing him around town. Rover, as she soon came to discover, was just as apprehensive as she was, saying very little, always keeping his space and even avoiding eye contact with her. He even began sleeping on the living room floor rather than in the spare bedroom, despite Rarity's repeated insistence that he was a guest and his comfort was her first priority.

"Rover, you know you don't have to sleep on the floor, right?" Rarity had asked him one morning.

"It is no issue," Rover replied, tapping his nails on the kitchen table. "Let sleeping dogs lie."

After more pressing, Rarity managed to get Rover to admit that he was remorseful for his past behavior and didn't feel as though he deserved her hospitality. This greatly astounded Rarity and even made her feel a little guilty for her preconceived notions, letting Rover know that she was willing to move past that incident if he was. After that, things got less awkward between them, so much so that they started spending more and more time together. Sure, Rarity had to pretty much drag Rover to the theatre or the spa, but he fought her less and less, even learning to enjoy many of the places she took him to. The one thing they both enjoyed was going on an outside luncheon and having long chats about their lives, their families, past experiences and future hopes.

Rover, as it turned out, was actually the youngest of a litter of seven and was sickly as a pup, the doctors expecting him to die before he was two. Miraculously, he continued to live and his health steadily improved, though he was still bullied by the other pups for being so frail and weak. This would come to bite them in the butts later as, without any kind of proper medical explanation, Rover simply stopped being sick and was indistinguishable from any other diamond dog, allowing him to dish out some sweet revenge on his tormentors in the form of fierce beatings. His father, who was always critical of his youngest, took young Rover aside and told him how proud he was, though he still had to punish Rover since the other pups' parents were kicking up such a fuss. From then on out, no one messed with him and it stunned Rarity to learn that Fido, the big diamond dog that also held her captive, was one of Rover's former bullies, becoming his best friend after Rover managed to give him a concussion and thus earning him Fido's respect.

It must be a diamond dog thing. Rarity had concluded to herself at the time.

Taking a sip of her herbal tea, Rarity flipped open her latest romance novel but before she could read a single sentence, her thoughts were interrupted by a three-tap knock at her bedroom door.

"It's Rover. May I come in?"

I wonder what he wants?

"Come in, darling. It's unlocked."

The door creaked open and in walked a gray diamond dog in a red vest, his spring green eyes glowing softly in the light like fireflies. Gently pushing it closed, he stood before Rarity in a rigid stance, his arms behind his back and his gaze lowered. Setting her book aside, Rarity observed how nervous he seemed, though for what reason she had no clue. Normally he carried himself with a kind of confident nonchalance, as though he couldn't be bothered to let anyone mess with him. Now, however, he looked like a frightened child readying himself for a scolding.

"Rover, what's wrong? Please, sit down."

Blinking owlishly, Rover took a seat at the edge of the canopied bed, facing forward with his paws situated palm-to-palm on his lap. It didn't escape Rarity's notice that Rover looked very uncomfortable: his right ear was twitching, he was smacking his lips and clenching and unclenching his toes, the nails audibly dragging through the carpeting. He raised his eyes, then lowered them, his gaze pensive and somewhat conflicted. Whatever it was, he was concerned about something and wanted to discuss it but was ashamed to bring it up. From what she'd gleaned from their conversations, diamond dogs weren't exactly used to expressing their emotions in-depth, their sentiments going no further than a simple "I'm hungry" or "I lost my ball and this makes me sad."

Rover dropped his gaze and sighed, his fingers interlocking. Swallowing, he folded his paws and exhaled through his nostrils, gathering his thoughts as he considered his words. After a moment of silence, he bowed his head.

"It has almost been a year and I am going to leave soon."

Rarity nodded sadly. "Yes, I know."

Once the initial tension had concluded, the two began to get close and Rover started to heed Rarity's advice to make him more approachable, such as brushing and flossing his teeth on a more consistent basis, keeping his nails trimmed and using mouthwash before talking to anyone. Soon, townsponies were accustomed to his presence and were willing to include him in conversations and social gatherings. He even began opening the door for her and carrying her bags, all without provocation. It touched Rarity deeply to see Rover improve himself so much just to make her happy, which in turn made his upcoming departure all the sadder as it had been almost a full year and he'd have to return to Caninia soon. With Twilight now a full-time monarch, Spike as her chief advisor and the other girls all living their own lives, Rover had become a close, dear friend to Rarity and she was going to miss him deeply.

"This year...being here in Ponyville with you...it..."

Rover winced, wringing his paws together.

"I don't want to leave," he stated sorrowfully.

"Oh, darling." Rarity placed a hoof on his paw and gave him a reassuring grin. "I don't want you to leave either," she agreed. "You've become my friend, one of my best."

Sliding one of his paws out, Rover placed it over one of Rarity's hooves and gave it a gentle squeeze.

"That is just it, Rarity." Rover looked her in the eyes, his own tearing up. "I thought that would be enough."

"What?"

Rarity found herself confused and even a little scared. Rover's tone was melancholic, even a bit angry, his teeth bared in an embittered scowl. He then wretched his paws away and quickly rose from the bed as though he'd sat on a hot coal, eliciting a surprised squeal of alarm from Rarity. She watched as he stood with his back to her, taking deep, almost agonizing breaths. Just what was going on with him?

"Rover? Rover, please, you're scaring me."

When Rover turned back around, his eyes were clamped shut, his lips trembling in a pained expression.

"You have been so good to me," Rover began with a soft whimper. "You are kind and beautiful and I..."

His eyes now open, he waved his paw in front of his face in a counter-clockwise motion.

"Ponies think I am ugly. I know this. I am also not smart or charming. And I..."

He bent over and, with his shoulders sagged, pressed his knuckles into the carpet.

"You deserve so much more...more than I can give."

Rarity could feel her heartbeat accelerate and decelerate at the same time. Now she knew why Rover was in so much pain, why he looked so tormented. He had feelings for her that went beyond mere friendship and though he hadn't used the word "L" word, it was clear that was what he was trying to convey. He was in love with her but didn't think that it'd work out due to his own perceived inadequacies. After all, who'd ever heard of a pony dating a diamond dog?

True, Rover could and would never meet the equine definition of "handsome" or even "good-looking" but Rarity could honestly say that she found him attractive. His paws, though over-sized, were still very strong and dexterous, able to pick up items as heavy as a mine cart or as small as a sewing needle, to crush rocks or gently hold a porcelain teacup. His added height and bipedal stature meant that he could peer above the bustling crowds of the city or allow him to reach things that Rarity couldn't even with her magic. Rover's eyes were a pretty shade of green, like leaves on the trees during the springtime and were capable of seeing in absolute darkness, which came in handy when Rarity was exploring a cave during one of her gem collecting expeditions and she briefly lost the map. His coat was also soft and smooth, making it quite nice to lean on during long train rides to and from Canterlot, allowing her to catch up on some Z's after a few sleepless nights spent frantically working on new designs.

When Rover first arrived, he was distant and quiet but never short or abrupt with Rarity, always swallowing his pride and keeping his agitation locked away so as not to upset his hostess. He was a messy eater but still placed his dishes in the sink when he was done with them and always made sure to wipe his paws before coming inside. When Rarity brought his less-than-desirable traits to his attention, he was clearly annoyed but never back-talked or lashed out, instead taking the criticisms to heart, especially following the two's personal talk about their mutual discomfort staying under the same roof. While not completely servile, Rover did as he was told, like washing dishes, taking out the trash, or holding an umbrella over Rarity so her mane never got wet and frizzy. He even took the initiative and began accepting elocution and reading lessons from Miss Cheerilee in order to improve on his vocabulary so that he and Rarity could hold meaningful conversations.

A memory then flashed before Rarity's mind, one that demonstrated Rover's loyalty:

Four months had passed since Rover came to live in Ponyville and by then he'd started to come out of his shell, at least around Rarity. They'd agreed to set aside their differences and try to become friends, a prospect that started slowly but progressed in due time. He began to speak more in length rather than short sentences, even smiling and laughing at Rarity's admittedly bad jokes, displaying a kind of warmth that she didn't even know that he had. After setting up new mannequins in Carousel Boutique, Rarity decided to make Rover her new assistant, a job that mostly consisted of him moving supplies such as rolls of fabric or boxes of gems and sequins, keeping any overzealous fans from getting too close at public events, fetching lunch orders and helping her gem hunt.

The two were in Manehattan to negotiate a new deal with a top fashion label to craft outfits for the new "Wings and Withers" line, which was to feature six griffon models, the first to ever strut the runway in equine fashion history. Not only would this aid in bringing ponies and griffons closer together and promote inter-species harmony, but the show's success could mean that Rarity might just be able to persuade the Council of Boreas, the griffons' ruling government, to open a boutique in Griffonstone. Designing for a non-pony race would be a bit of a task but Rarity would be more than up to the challenge and relish the thought of her skills being put to the test. Rover was excited, and a tad nervous, by the idea of the trip, as he'd never visited a surface-world metropolis before, spending his time thus far exclusively in Ponyville. As for Rarity, she was just happy for his assistance as well as the company.

The meeting wasn't for another few hours so Rarity took Rover on a sight-seeing trip around the city, pointing out famous landmarks like Maneway Station and the Mare Statue on Friendship Island. They even took the elevator up to the top floor of the Crystaller Building, though the trip was hampered somewhat by Rover sitting huddled up in the corner and covering his ears, clearly bothered by both the noise and the discomfort of being off the ground. Rarity managed to calm Rover down enough to where he could exit the elevator and stand out with her on the observation deck, holding her hoof almost the entire time. To his credit, he was much more placid the ride down, standing firmly rooted in place rather than cowering in the corner like before. That minor hiccup aside, Rover appeared to enjoy himself thus far on the trip, taking in the sights and smells of the city with all of the glee of a child.

"This trip is fun!" Rover exclaimed, panting softly.

"I'm so happy to hear that, Darling."

He was actually kind of cute when he was happy, the way his tail wagged from side-to-side and how he shook his clenched paws up and down, bouncing slightly on his heels. The raspy sound of his voice no longer bothered Rarity, who now saw it as a deep, almost distinguished tone, especially when he occasionally put a literal growl into it. Rarity didn't know why she hadn't seen it before but there was something about Rover that filled her with an unfathomable giddiness she hadn't felt since she was a filly years ago. Before, she only saw a filthy, untrustworthy brute but now all she could see was a good friend of hers that happened to be a large subterranean canine. It was actually kind of similar to how her and Spike's friendship began, only without the mistrust and suspicion based on a thuggish outer appearance.

A stallion forcefully shouldered Rarity, nearly bowling her over if not for Rover's interference. He didn't even possess the common decency to turn back around and check on her!

"What an absolutely horrid-..."

Before Rarity could finish her thought, Rover had dashed over to the stallion, an emerald green earth pony in a dark blue business suit, and seized him by the collar, yanking him off the sidewalk. He carried the thrashing stallion, who was shouting obscenities directed towards diamond dogs, and hung him in front of a bewildered Rarity. Rover growled at the stallion through his bare teeth.

"You purposely bumped into this mare," Rover said accusingly, a rumbling snarl giving his words an extra boost of aggression. "Now say that you are sorry!"

"I-I'm sorry!"

Rover's grip slackened, plopping the stallion onto his rear. The stallion, now reduced to a quivering mess, sat petrified as a pool of urine gathered beneath him. One glare from Rover sent him scurrying as fast as his legs could carry him, galloping away so fast he looked like Pinkie Pie racing towards a free donut giveaway at Donut Joe's. With the stallion halfway to Whinnyapolis, Rover allowed himself to relax, once more a happy and carefree diamond dog. Rarity stared at her companion with a mix of torrid emotions.

"Rover, that was very wrong of you to do what you did to that stallion."

Tilting his head, Rover frowned, "You are my friend and that pony hurt you. It was not right."

A part of Rarity was angry with him over that display yet she couldn't help but feel touched by his protectiveness.

She sighed and patted Rover's arm. "I appreciate that you stood up for me but that was not the way to handle such a situation. We don't return violence with more violence. Do you understand?"

"Yesss," Rover whimpered, his ears swiveling backwards in shame.

Seeing him so distraught made Rarity feel terrible so she wrapped her forelegs around his midsection.

"Thank you for being my hero."

After that day, Rover never physically mistreated another pony and though the temptation obviously lurked around the corner, he refused to give in for Rarity's sake. He'd changed so much, altered himself just to make Rarity happy and now he was being torn in two for feelings that he couldn't control. It broke Rarity's heart to see Rover in such anguish, for her friend to torment himself like this and knowing that she was the cause. She'd spoken to him so many times about her ideal stallion: handsome, wealthy, kind, funny, attributes that he knew he wouldn't be able to measure up to. Ever since she was little, Rarity dreamed of having the perfect husband, to find her prince and live happily ever after and had continued to pursue these high standards at the detriment of someone she'd learned to care for immensely.

Rover was not handsome by pony standards but he was to Rarity. She had feelings for him and while she couldn't quite easily put it into words, she was willing to take the leap and see where it went. Over the years, many potential partners came and went, all of them either too stuck up or desperate to get her into bed so what could it hurt to give a bitless diamond dog a chance? Even if the relationship didn't work out, at least Rarity could say that she followed her heart instead of her head.

"Rover, could you come here please?"

Slowly, he complied, kneeling so that the two were at eye level.

"Look at me."

Their eyes met and Rarity was struck by the brilliance of those luminescent orbs.

"I don't know what it is that I feel for you but I know that I care about you and I want to give us a try."

Rover's eyes widened. "D-do you mean...?"

Rarity smiled and nodded. "Yes. I want to be yours."

One of Rover's paws hovered over her cheek, his forefinger tenderly caressing the fur.

"I want to kiss you," Rover murmured, causing Rarity to giggle slightly.

"Then do it."

Cupping her back with one paw, Rover placed his other paw on the back of Rarity's head and brought his face toward her own. Their lips lightly made contact with all of the softness of a feather before both participants leaned forward, deepening the kiss, their mouths moving in conjunction as they savored the taste of the other. The primal part of Rarity's brain screamed at her to run, to escape the carnivorous predator that held her in his grip before being silenced by the part that urged her on and to enjoy her new paramour. She knew that Rover would never hurt her, trusting him completely and willing to drop all of her guards around the diamond dog when she was on high alert around the males of her own kind. Perhaps it was that slight twinge of fear, the fear of the dog's teeth and claws that added to the desire building within the unicorn.

Their gentle smooching became more ravenous, their jaws picking up the pace as their mouths widened to heighten the experience. Rarity's tongue prodded at the inside of Rover's maw, the muscle poking at his lower row of teeth, the tips of which were actually duller than she would've imagined but no less dangerous. In order to please his herbivorous friend, Rover had taken to consuming less and less meat until crafting a diet of fish, grains and vegetables. Coupled with his strict dental hygiene regimen, Rarity was unable to taste anything other than tea and coffee cake, as well as a hint of his spearmint toothpaste. This further reminder of her friend's consideration added to her mounting desire.

They both withdrew and in between gathering oxygen, Rarity came to the realization that she wasn't standing up; Rover was now cradling her against his chest, her own limbs having all of the consistency of wet linguine. How could this diamond dog, this male have such an effect over her as to render her weak-legged and breathless? Judging from the heavy dilation of Rover's eyes and his own heavy panting, he was just as turned on as she was, ironically making her even hornier than she was a minute ago. Species no longer mattered; there was only the drive to satisfy the burning lust that threatened to cook Rarity from the inside out. Rover gave her a quick peck on the lips, bringing his paw up to caress her cheek with a thumb, his eyes full of hopeless devotion.

"I am not good with words but you are the single most precious thing to me."

That statement, though rudimentary and plain, was nevertheless the most romantic sentiment Rarity had ever heard. The earnestness with which Rover spoke surpassed the kind of nauseating drivel found in cheap Hearts and Hooves Day cards and rivaled the classic poems that suitors mindlessly regurgitated in their sorry attempts at wooing her. The untold passion in the diamond dog's eyes spoke louder of his adoration than a thousand romantic words, his entranced, almost dreamy stare captivating Rarity with their sole focus on her face. Her hoof traveled up Rover's stomach to stroke the fur on his chest, the delighted hum he was making confirming that she was pleasing him with her touch alone. She offered up no resistance when Rover tugged her robe off of her and let the garment slide to the floor, affording him an unobstructed view of her full form as he gently laid her down onto the bed.

"So beautiful..."

The awe in which Rover breathed out those two words brought a red tint to Rarity's cheeks. She was used to being gawked at by stallions, their blatantly scrutinizing stares betraying their libidinous imaginings and it only increased with her fame, being both an Element Bearer and a well-known fashion designer. There was no doubt in her mind that, like other gorgeous female celebrities, she'd been the subject of many sexual fantasies and didn't mind it as long as her "admirers" were tasteful about it. Rover, however, didn't just see her as a piece of ass; there was carnality behind his eyes as well but the kind that was about passion and emotional bonding rather than a quick pump-and-dump. It was one thing to be lusted after and quite another to be totally desired.

Rover now loomed over her, his right paw smoothing over her chest and stomach in a delicate manner. The nails combed through Rarity's coat, the very tips trailing up and down the soft flesh underneath, forcing a low moan from the mare. She'd never felt such a sensation before and it only increased when Rover began stroking her left hip and hindleg with his other paw. Up to this point, Rarity had been with three stallions: a coltfriend when she was in high school, a fellow college student during her time at Manehattan University, and an initially charming newspaper columnist who turned out to be a two-timing scumbag that she thought cared about her but really just looking for some stress relief from his fiancée. All three had been satisfactory in their own right, as loathe as she was to admit it concerning the last, but none gave her an experience quite like this.

Diamond dog mating was, admittedly, an awkward subject that the two tried to avoid discussing but one that had come up a few times over the past year. It all started when the pair were invited to Canterlot for a meeting with Twilight, during which she had Rover inspected and subjected to a line of questioning about his species. There were the standard questions, like whether or not they were diurnal or cathemeral, their dietary restrictions, social structure, et cetera but then the topic of reproduction came up. Rover described how females, referred to interchangeably as "dams" or "bitches", usually selected males, or "dogs", based on their strength as well as level of attraction, employing similar beauty standards to that of ponies that rely on muzzle shape, coat color, teeth size and height. Once a coupling had been formed, the participants would then proceed with mating, a process that took around ten to twenty minutes, a detail that left all present mares stunned considering the average intercourse time for stallions was about two to three minutes.

The bed shifted as Rover climbed onto the mattress and Rarity couldn't help but freeze at the sight of the equipment dangling from between Rover's legs. The size of the penis itself was impressive, slightly bigger than that of a stallion's, or at the very least, the three stallions Rarity had slept with, which wasn't that surprising given the height of her current partner. It was a bright reddish pink and consisted of a sheath and a pointed head that called to mind the top of one of Pinkie Pie's fireworks. To top it off, she spotted a semi-rounded bulb extending from the center of the pelvis. That would be what Twilight once not-so-helpfully at the time informed her was the bulbus glandis or "knot", a common feature of all canines like domesticated dogs, wolves, jackals and coyotes that apparently swells up inside of the bitch just before ejaculation in order to ensure proper insemination.

And now that is going to be inside of me.

Panic gripped Rarity, the reality of the impending copulation crashing down on her. What if it hurt? What would happen if it didn't stop swelling and got stuck? Twilight stated that she'd consulted a diamond dog physician and said that it was virtually impossible for a pony and a diamond dog to conceive offspring but what if they were wrong? Rarity always dreamed of having children and while Rover being the father wasn't an issue, it was just too soon to worry about motherhood!

A warm, gentle paw lovingly stroked Rarity's mane, its owner worriedly studying her.

"We don't have to do this," he assured Rarity, continuing to pet her. "I will understand if you want to stop."

Then came the single most amazing sentence she would ever hear:

"I love you and I want you to be happy."

Tears filled Rarity's vision but rather than fear or sorrow, they were instead tears of love. Here she was worrying about the act and all Rover was doing was comforting her, giving her the choice to opt out when he so painfully wanted to continue. Judging by his body language and slight tremor of his paw, he was scared too but was putting on a brave face for her, no doubt filled with the kind of questions she was. Rarity felt disgusted by her selfishness, her refusal to see past her own apprehension and not considering what this meant for Rover. This wasn't just "mating" to him; this would be love-making, a life-changing act that meant he would be united body and soul with the mare he'd fallen head-over-heels for and wanted to leave his home to be with.

That was when it hit Rarity, the greatest epiphany she would ever have.

Beaming at him, Rarity sniffled, "I am happy. Because I love you, Rover."

Rover went stiff, pure shock conquering his features. It was so cute that Rarity had to bite her lip in order to keep from laughing. She knew that it'd been a challenge for him to admit his feelings and didn't want him to think that she was mocking or otherwise degrading him.

"Do you mean that?"

"Yes, my darling. And...Rover?"

"Yes, Rarity?" Rover asked, locking eyes with the unicorn.

"Please, don't be gentle with me." Rarity swallowed and caressed Rover's cheek. "I want you to make love to me as though I were a female diamond dog."

If we're going to do this, then I don't want either of us holding back.

Ceasing his petting, Rover stared down at her. "Are you certain of this?"

"I want this. I want you."

After a moment of consideration, Rover nodded. "If this is what you want..."

He grabbed her head and mashed their faces together in a fiery kiss, his tongue invading Rarity's mouth, leaving no corner untouched by its unexpected but fully welcomed assault. Seizing a hold of her hips, Rover rolled Rarity onto her stomach, his fingers dancing along her sides. She yelped at the feeling of his fingers sinking into the doughy flesh of her rump, the nails poking right into her flesh, the sensation a mix of both pain and pleasure. A quiet growl entered in from behind Rarity and a chill ran up her spine, enhancing her arousal as she felt her juices flowing down her winking marehood. Never before had the moment of pre-penetration been so deliciously nerve-wracking.

Something poked and prodded at her entrance. Rarity huffed, annoyed at Rover for not filling her up but that soon changed when she felt his member sliding into her, eliciting a surprised gasp from the mare. Inch by inch, she shuddered in delight as the canine's phallus was fed through her depths. Finally, Rover bottomed out with a groan, his knot halfway devoured by Rarity's lower lips and keeping the moist petals opened. Rarity's teeth clattered, the alien but deliciously exquisite meat-rod reshaping her vagina and overwhelming her senses with innumerable stimuli. The pleasure that she was experiencing was incredible, especially given the fact that the unlikely pair hadn't even started having sex yet!

She moaned aloud as the intruder suddenly swelled and became fully erect, stretching out her already expanded love-tunnel and firing more signals of ecstasy to her brain as the slanted head of the glans kissed her cervix. In the midst of her storm of euphoria, she had a fleeting fear that Rover was going to impale her intestines before it mercifully passed out of her mind. So far, no area of Rarity's interior remained untouched, the throbbing heat radiating off of Rover's doghood making her sensitively twitch and instinctively grab at the foreign object. Rarity gained control over her hitched breathing, incredulous at the turn of events and almost certain that she was going to climax if her lover so much as moved. The air was thick with their shared musk, the only sound in the bedroom being their near-synchronized breathing.

"Ugh, you feel...incredible," Rover hissed, both paws gripping either side of the mattress.

"S-so do you...oh Faust," Rarity panted between breaths. "Now take me...please."

At an almost agonizing pace, Rarity felt Rover draw back, his turgid member gradually retreating until only the head remained snuggly enclosed within her marehood. A half-shriek burst through Rarity's mouth as Rover shoved himself forward, burying his entire length in a single powerful thrust that rendered the ivory mare momentarily disoriented. The wave of unfathomable pleasure that rocked Rarity previously was nothing more than a mild rainstorm when compared to the raging hurricane of mind-numbing ecstasy that tossed her senses around like a rag doll. Then Rover repeated the motion, withdrawing and lunging, this time forcing something out of Rarity that was midway between a strangled scream and an ululation of pure rapture. Whenever Rover thrust forward, not only would his cock run the entire length of Rarity's trench, but that knot of his would hit her vulva, attacking her on two different fronts, both internally and externally.

Every fiber of her being was crying out for relief from this amazing and loathsome torment; nothing could nor would ever match the unparalleled paradise she was experiencing, so much so that it was almost unfair how incredible this was. Mercifully, the familiar tingling signaled the impending orgasm, a sharp wave of tension building within Rarity's very core and she welcomed it with open arms. What she hadn't anticipated was the intense explosion of fire that rippled throughout her body, momentarily blinding and deafening her to the outside world. The closest approximation she could make was the time she'd been given those dew butterfly wings, allowing her to soar thousands of feet into the air, unrestrained by concepts like gravity or weight. All worries, all doubts simply vanished, leaving only a mare and the elation of being liberated from stress or fear.

Similar to the disastrous conclusion of that little adventure, Rarity tumbled from her peak and plummeted back to earth, returning once more to the Carousel Boutique and her Rover. Gulping air back into her burning lungs, Rarity caught her breath as she rode out the high, her chest aching after such a mind-bending climax. Meanwhile, Rover was still pulverizing the mare's backside, his massive paws squeezing the cheeks with wild abandon, each thrust accentuated by a growling huff. Amazingly, he was still at it when a stallion would've blown his load by now, jack-hammering for a minute or two before slumping over Rarity's back and loudly panting into her ear. There'd been one or two times when each lover ejaculated before Rarity came, wrenching their condom-clad pricks out and either fell asleep or moved onto something else, leaving her irritated and unsatisfied.

I don't believe this will ever be an issue.

The cycle commenced uninterrupted, with Rover withdrawing half his soaking-wet length, then yanking Rarity backwards by the hips onto his waiting member, his knot forcing her petals open and closed with every thrust, heightening the seemingly endless pleasure that shot through her alert and sensitive form. Some small voice within Rarity's consciousness begged for the diamond dog to finish, for him to accomplish what no one before him had done and flood her womb with his seed, to claim the unicorn and mark her as his mate instead of some Caninia bitch. That voice was drowned out by an even louder one that screamed for their lovemaking to never end, for Rover to ravish and defile her for all eternity. Rarity could almost picture the oddly-matched couple walking through town wearing each other's scents, letting everyone know who the other belonged to and challenging anyone to just try and make a move. This was her diamond dog, damn it, she found him first!

Rover halted, remaining sheathed inside of Rarity but no longer moving.

"Wh-what's wrong?"

Rarity was somewhat relieved as it gave her a respite from the overwhelming intensity.

"Something's...missing," Rover stated introspectively.

He slid his paws underneath Rarity's stomach and before she could make an inquiry, Rover began to slowly rotate her around on his rod, the sensation drawing a sustained moan from out of her, which she was beyond the point of caring if anyone heard her. In fact, she would've preferred it if everyone, especially the other mares, knew how amazing sex with a diamond dog was, smirking to herself at the thought of her neighbors turning green with envy at what she had. Now Rarity was lying on her back with Rover positioned so that he was peering directly into her eyes, both paws pressing into the mattress on either side of Rarity's head. With surprising delicateness, Rover bent down and chastely kissed her, the raw carnality from before replaced with a gentle, almost subdued tenderness that completely blindsided Rarity but was happily reciprocated. Rover then disengaged, his fingertips lightly brushing some stray hairs out of Rarity's face.

"I want to see your eyes," he whispered. "They are like sapphires."

Just when Rarity thought she couldn't get any happier, Rover had to go and prove her wrong, though in this particular instance, she didn't mind. There it was, that near-reverent love she'd been searching for, the kind of romance she craved since she was a filly and got her hooves on one of her mother's nightstand paperbacks. Sure, the dialogue was often corny and the plots a hodgepodge of cliches and improbable coincidences but it was the core concept itself that captivated young Rarity, igniting within her a drive to seek out her own dashing prince or swashbuckling rogue. However, the glowing light green eyes boring into her own with unfathomable devotion, coupled with the soft padded paw that cupped her chin took that silly dream, crumpled it up, and tossed it into the wastebasket without a second thought. She returned the kiss, her hooves stroking Rover's belly, the abs chiseled and rock-hard from years of heavy-duty digging and excavation.

If I died right now, I'd happily go into the Pale Stallion's embrace with no regrets.

Their lips smacked together in a series of feather-light pops, every kiss unhurried in their execution, as if the two had all the time in the world. In Rarity's mind, there were no thoughts of predator and prey, sex, species or outside opinions, only them enjoying each other as they were, taking comfort in the knowledge that they were loved. She felt the tears slide down her cheeks, the droplets serving as an indication of the profound jubilation she was filled with, so much so that it threatened to blow her apart. Almost as if coordinated, their tongues simultaneously collided, Rover's larger one flicking and lapping at the underside of Rarity's at a deliberate pace while Rarity dragged her own tongue across the diamond dog's mouth-roof and the back of his incisors.

As blissful and perfect as this moment was, Rarity knew that it couldn't last and despite her mental protestations, begrudgingly disengaged, a trail of saliva connecting their mouths like a rope bridge. She'd already had the privilege of enjoying her orgasm and yet Rover, who'd been doing all of the work, didn't get to cum yet. Not only was that unfair to the dog who'd stolen her heart but it was also rude and improper, completely the opposite of the Element of Generosity. Plus, Rarity would finally get to experience the sensation of being stuffed with semen and she'd wager every bit she owned that it would be a substantial amount. She beamed up at Rover and pecked him on the nose.

"Rover, could you be a dear and pump your load inside of me?"

Rover's eyes momentarily bulged at the wanton request before the pupils narrowed into slits.

"It would be my pleasure..."

A switch appeared to flip inside of Rover's brain, a throaty growl escaping his lips. Seizing the duvet above Rarity's head with both paws, he pulled his hips back and slammed his pelvis forward, the suddenly aggressive action drawing an aroused yelp out of the mare. Unlike before, his thrusts became more frenzied, the bestial part of his mind taking over, the part that, in spite of the genetic incompatibility, demanded he release his seed and impregnate the female beneath him. Rarity found herself reeling from the abrupt show of force but instead of fear or anger, she instead reveled in it, urging him with coos and grunts. Rover's knot was soon not only colliding with her labia but was even passing it, stretching her entrance and activating the hypersensitive nerve endings.

The room was filled with passionate moans and the slapping of Rover's testicles against Rarity's ass, their intense lovemaking creating a loud, wet-sounding plop like someone stomping their hooves inside of a mud puddle. From within her pleasured haze, Rarity could make out a loud ripping noise and it didn't take long for it to register that Rover was tearing through the duvet with his nails.

Doesn't...matter! I c-c-can buy a n...new one! FUCK!

It wasn't long before another orgasm rocked Rarity's body, little spots exploding before her eyes as she was once again propelled through a raging whirlwind of passion. This one was nowhere near as intense as its predecessor but was still powerful enough to render her as a tongue-lolling, near-brain-dead husk. She must've blacked out for a moment since she now found Rover clutching her hips and butt cheeks in an almost desperate death-grip, the nails jabbing through her coat and into the soft skin beneath. Waking up, Rarity let loose a weak but audible wail, unconsciously curling her hindlegs around Rover's waist and crossing her fetlocks, trapping him so that his succeeding pup-batter had nowhere else to go. Her vision unclouded and focused on Rover, who was peering deeply into her eyes with a combination of wild lust and heart-pounding adoration.

"I love you," Rover growled through his teeth. "For months, I wanted to tell you."

Rarity could barely focus on his words, her mind captured by the intensity of those green eyes.

"Being near you, taking in your scent...it made me feel safe."

His paws tightened their considerable grip on Rarity's backside.

"Even amongst my kind, I was alone. You became my friend, the light in the dark."

Both the confession and the rapid propulsion of Rover's hips left Rarity once more teetering on the edge.

"When I am with you, I am home."

Rover's panting huffs devolved into a rumbling gnarl.

"I swear to always be by your side, through the good and the bad."

Issuing a roar, he clamped his mouth around Rarity's left shoulder and with a final, savage thrust, flooded her inner walls with his essence. The sudden prickling ache of his teeth on her flesh, in conjunction with the surge of red-hot cum, shoved Rarity off of the edge and sent her careening through space, wailing and arching her back while she rode out the storm. Rover grunted through his mouthful of pony-flesh, torrent after torrent of his seed invading his lover's womb, his heaving languidly fading until at least he remained rooted in place. Neither one of them moved as a pressure built within Rarity's marehood, almost as if a balloon was inflating inside of her velvety depths, expanding against her very sore and sensitive walls before eventually ceasing. It quickly became apparent that Rover's knot was the culprit, locking the pair together while he was still in the process of discharging his virile fluids.

Rarity lost track of how many spurts were fired off, but knew that it was far too much, the excess semen rushing out of her lower lips in slimy globules and no doubt ruining her sheets and possibly the carpet. Raising her head slightly, she was almost aghast at the sight of the modest bulge in her stomach, giving her the impression of being six months pregnant. Any other time she would've been worried but for now, she was content to lie back and allow her exhausted form to sink into the mattress. Enveloped within the warmth of a strong but tender embrace, she was rolled onto her right side and pulled into Rover's chest, the still-racing rhythm of his heartbeat as soothing as the sweetest melody. Rover peppered her head with kisses and Rarity sighed in contentment.

"I love you too," Rarity murmured in a hushed tone. "Will you stay with me?"

Rover's chest rumbled against her ear as he chuckled.

"You do not need to ask. I will ask the Queens to remain here. I am certain it will be no issue."

Admittedly, Rarity had no clue as to what direction the future was heading in but she did know two things beyond a shadow of a doubt: firstly, that she and Rover would face it together.

Secondly, they were in for one hell of a clean-up.
