If gap, car
It was a Sunny day at the Wonderbolts academy. Spitfire and her team are going through the routine once more before the great flight show, but suddenly Spitfire hears a weird noise. "What was that?! Can somepony check what's going on there?" Spitfire commands. Soarin flies over to check where that noise comes from. "Uhm you may not like it but it's a Formula One car" Soarin said.
"Formula One cars don't exist here in Eques-" Spitfire gets interrupted by seeing that Black and Gold Formula One car.
"Okay whoever is driving this, I want to see him right now!!!" Spitfire commands. The Wonderbolts fly down to that Formula One car, Apple Lauda stops in front of the Wonderbolts and puts his helmet off. "is something wro- Wait Soarin?! Is that you?!" Apple Lauda says in Surprise.
"Apple Lauda?! HEY SPITFIRE GUESS WHO IS HERE!!! IT'S THE GREAT APPLE LAUDA!!!" Soarin shouts.
Spitfire comes down to the car. "What are you even thinking you're doing. It's dangerous to drive a Formula One car!!!" Spitfire yells.
"and what if I tell you that it has 1.300 horsepower with a 1.5 liters V6 Turbo?" Apple Lauda asks. "it's dangerous yes but racing is in my blood. I saw you guys flying up there and to be honest it kinda looks slow..."
"is this supposed to be a challenge?!" Spitfire asks.
"I'll ground effect everything into the ground" Apple Lauda responds. "nothing beats this Lotus 97T"
"A LOTUS 97T?! THIS CAN'T BE RIGHT!!! THAT THING PRODUCES 1.300 HORSEPOWER!!!!" Misty Fly says.
"Pah!!! That thing is from 1985... There's no way it will beat us in a race" Spitfire says.
Apple Lauda revs the engine and the engine makes angry Turbo noises.
"Okay I admit I have much respect of that" Blaze says.
"this thing is literally uncontrollable" Spitfire says. "how much pressure has this car anyways?"
"5.5 Bar Ma'am" Apple Lauda answers.
"okay we're completely doomed. We're dealing with a Turbo Monster here" Spitfire says.
A few minutes later, Silverstream appears.
"seriously sweetie, you honestly want to beat the Wonderbolts in a race with this?!" Silverstream says.
"well yes, why?" Apple Lauda asks in confusion.
"because Rainbow Dash is going to race you" Lightning Streak says.
Apple Lauda starts laughing. "seriously?! It's about cornering and not straight line speed hahaha"
"don't underestimate her" Silverstream says. "she is pretty fast you know... Even in cornering"
"remember that I have ground effect!!!" Apple Lauda says.
"good thing we made a circuit at Ponyville for the planned show. We'll make this day your worst nightmare" Rainbow Dash says.
A few hours later in Ponyville, there was a huge crowd who wants to see the race. But the schedule has changed. A noise can be heard from the grandstands. The crowd looked at the black and golden Lotus from 1985. They are more amazed than seeing the Wonderbolts doing their shows. "THAT CAR IS STEALING US THE SHOW!!!!" Vapor Trail yells. Apple Lauda starts laughing. "you'll see what 1.300 horsepower can do. But wait... I need to reduce the power in the race to 800 horsepower because I would kill my engine after 2 laps"
Then the Qualifying starts. Apple Lauda is first on the row. "somepony measure the wing power of this car!!!!" Spitfire commands. Vapor Trail starts the measurement. A minute and 30 seconds later, the Lotus 97T blasts past the instruments. "WHAT THE?!" Vapor Trail says. "300 WINGPOWER!!!!"
Soarin spits the water he just drank. "You must be joking. That's more than all of us can produce. Even Rainbow Dash can't get anywhere close than this!!!"
"how fast is that thing even going?! Measure it's speed!!!" Spitfire commands. Another one and a half minute later, Apple Lauda blasts past the speed trap in the Lotus 97T.
"310!!!" Vapor Trail says. Spitfire slams her hoof on the desk. "HOW IS A CAR CAPABLE OF THIS RIDICULOUSLY AMOUNT OF DATAS?!" she yells in a angry tone.
"if I knew the answer I would tell you" Vapor Trail says.
The crowd starts cheering and chiming. The Wonderbolts are under a huge pressure now.
"YOU SHOWED THEM WHAT A CAR CAN DO!!!" Silverstream says in a cheerful voice.
"Alright everypony, it's our turn now." Spitfire says
Apple Lauda gets nervous. How will one car perform against several Pegasi?
After 3 minutes, it's all over. The results are shown on the huge display on the circuit.
Apple Lauda: maximum Wingpower: 306 (1.350 horsepower)
Wonderbolts: maximum Wingpower: 245 (980 horsepower)
"HOW DID HE GAIN ANOTHER 50 HORSEPOWER?!" Spitfire yells.
"I'm using rocket fuel hahahaha" Apple Lauda answers. "1985 Specs lmao"
"you can win this Apple Lauda!!!" Silverstream cheers.
Apple Lauda adjusts the boost pressure to 80% so the engine won't blow up. Then the race starts. The Wonderbolts get ahead easily but then the boost kicks in of the Lotus 97T's Turbo. Huge wheelspin is generated as Apple Lauda shifts through the gears. "It's still generating 1000 horsepower!!!" Blaze says. Then suddenly Apple Lauda takes the lead.
"WE WON'T LOSE TO A TURBOCAR!!!!" Rainbow Dash yells and starts chasing the Lotus 97T.
But Apple Lauda has different plans. He sees Vapor Trail and Soarin flying side by side, battling it out for P1. The Field of view of Apple Lauda gets extremely small. Suddenly he hears a voice. It says: "if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you're no longer a racing driver"
Apple Lauda sees the gap and goes for it and manages to get through the gap without a collision with the two Pegasi.
"THAT WAS DANGEROUS!!!" Spitfire yells. "HE NEEDS TO BE DISQUALIFIED!!!!"
The race control reacts to that with no further investigation necessary. "if there's a gap, everypony is allowed to go for it"
"fine... Wait... Did he just do a Ailton Senna?!" Spitfire says. "there's no way!!!"
7 laps to go
Apple Lauda has built up a huge gap between him and the Wonderbolts. Suddenly his gearbox jams. "Fudge Fudge Fudge!!!!"
"He has gearbox problems!!! GET HIM!!!" Spitfire commands. The Wonderbolts catch up rapidly and a few laps later, they could finally see Apple Lauda in the Lotus 97T only with sixth gear working.
The final lap begins
Apple Lauda still struggles to keep the car running but refuses to give up. He can see Soarin, Vapor Trail, Rainbow Dash and Blaze in his mirrors. "OH FUDGE!!!!"
"YOU HAVE NOWHERE TO RUN NOW APPLE LAUDA!!!" Vapor Trail shouts. The four Pegasi Dash towards the finish line. Apple Lauda is on the straight before the finish line and Rainbow Dash quickly catches up to the Lotus.
"COME ON!!! DON'T DIE ON ME!!!" Apple Lauda yells. He barely crosses the finish line in front of Rainbow Dash. The gap between them was less than a tenth of a second. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! I DON'T BELIEVE IT!!! EU NÃO ACREDITOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! PUTA QUE PÃRIUUUUUUUU!!!!!" (Idk if I have written it correctly. I want to say "f*cking hell!!!" with that. If someone knows how to write in Portuguese please lemme know)
"BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!! NOOOOO NO NO NO NOOO HIS GEARBOX JAMMED!!!! HOW DID WE STILL LOSE?!" Spitfire yells. Apple Lauda stops his Lotus and faints for a short period of time because of all that effort he did to keep the car running.
