Through the machinations of the evil Darth Sidious, the Jedi have been all but erased from the galaxy, leaving only few survivors. In the years since Order 66, a small band of citizens from across the galaxy have joined together in revolt against the evil Empire. Forming the Alliance to restore the Republic. These rebels, in their search for support and allies, have now received intelligence that a Jedi survivor has been sighted on Ryloth, prompting the rebels to launch a rescue mission… In the Tatooine system, a rather short jump away from Ryloth, a group of ponies dashed through the corridors of an MC80 star cruiser. “Are the rumors true? A JEDI’s been spotted on Ryloth?” Asked one of them. “If it is the case, they’ll probably send us to rescue them Dash.” Another pony said. “After all, we’re the best fighter squadron in the Rebellion.” “Making me the best pilot in the rebellion.” The blue pony with a rainbow mane responded. “I believe that title belongs to me.” The golden maned pony said. “Rainbow Dash, Lightning Dust, knock it off!” A yellow furred mare shouted at them. Rainbow and Lightning sneered at each other. “Yes Spitfire.” They said. Spitfire nodded as the group entered a briefing area. Inside, an older gentleman saw the group of ponies enter and smiled. “Ah, Wonderbolt Squadron, good.” He said. “I assume you’ve all heard the rumor that a Jedi’s been located on Ryloth?” He asked. “Kinda hard not to hear it when it’s the talk of the fleet Admiral Ackbar.” Spitfire responded. Ackbar smiled. “Well I’ll put any doubts to rest. It’s been confirmed that a Jedi has indeed been located on Ryloth.” Ackbar pressed a button and a holoprojector powered up. A hologram of a female Twi’lek appeared. “This is Aayla Secura. Highly regarded Jedi knight during the Clone Wars.” “Aayla Secura? Wasn’t she shot in the back by her own clone troopers?” A blue stallion asked. “She must have survived and hid herself during the Jedi Purge. And appears to have returned to her people Soarin.” Ackbar responded. “If we can get to her before the Empire, she could be a valuable asset to the Rebellion.” “So, you want us to go get her?” Spitfire asked. “Not so simple.” Ackbar responded as he pressed another button and the hologram changed, this time it projected a planet being blockaded by a few star destroyers. “The planet’s being blockaded by Star Destroyers. Nothing’s getting in, or out.” “So we take out those Star Destroyers.” Lightning Dust responded. “Exactly.” Ackbar responded. “This fleet will engage the Star Destroyers. And I want Wonderbolt Squadron leading the charge. There’s a transport in the hangar. You’ll protect that transport, defend the fleet, and destroy those Star destroyers.” “Yes sir!” Spitfire responded. “Prep your fighters. Spitfire, assign a pair to pilot the transport. I want the best pilots on it.” Ackbar ordered. “I got just the two in mind.” Spitfire replied. “Good.” Ackbar responded. Spitfires nodded, they all saluted Admiral Ackbar, and left the briefing room. Rainbow smiled at Spitfire. “So I’m gonna be the pilot right? Who’ll my copilot be?” She asked. Lightning Dust laughed. “Ha! Spitfire will obviously choose a copilot for me.” She retorted. “Dash, you’ll be the transport pilot, and Dust, you’ll be her copilot.” Spitfire interjected. “Soarin, Fleetfoot and I will cover them, everypony else keep the TIEs off us and pound those Star Destroyers.” She barked out orders. Lightning Dust’s mouth went agape. “What?! Why her. I’m CLEARLY the better pilot!” She whined. “And who saved your flanks when you fell into an imperial trap and returned with a wrecked fighter?” Spitfire retorted. “You’re a good pilot Dust, but Dash is better.” She said. Lightning Dust rolled her eyes. “Ugh. Fine.” She said, mumbling something under her breath. In no time at all, Wonderbolt squadron made their way to the hangar bay, where a U-Wing transport sat surrounded by a group of over two dozen X-Wings. Spitfire nodded and turned to her squadron just as the stars vanished in a magnificent sea of blue. “Remember everypony, we fly fast, we fly hard, and we all come back alive. Dash, Dust, if you come back to the cruiser and those destroyers haven’t been destroyed yet, get into your fighters and join the fray.” She ordered. “Yes Ma’am!” Rainbow and Lightning Dust responded with a salute. “Then everypony to their fighters! Wonderbolt Squadron!” Spitfire shouted. “Let’s bolt!” Her squadron responded in unison the squadron’s battle cry. After which they scrambled to their fighters, with Rainbow and Lightning Dust taking the helm of the U-Wing. “I should’ve been assigned to primary pilot.” Lightning commented with a grumble. Rainbow laughed. “Aw don’t worry. I’m sure you’ll be picked to lead a team someday.” She said. “So long as we’re not both on the same strike team. Lightning Dust just grumbled. Not a significant amount of time later, on one of the three Star Destroyers orbiting Ryloth, an imperial lieutenant raced up to his commanding officer, the captain. “Captain! We have rebel ships inbound!” Right on cue, an MC80, and six Liberty type Mon Calamari cruisers exited hyperspace. The imperial captain grimaced. “They got word of the Jedi. Launch all fighters to stop or at least stall the enemy for as long as possible. We can’t let them get to that Jedi, or learn of our top secret project.” He ordered. The lieutenant saluted and ran off. The captain glared at the enemy fleet, and then at the planet below. “Those troopers better not be missing their shots. Like they always do.” He commented. Down on the planet, imperial stormtroopers were firing their blasters at a twi’lek, and while some were missing, they were hitting their target, but the twi’lek was deflecting the bolts back at them with her lightsaber. Aayla Secura stood guard in front of an entrance to an imperial outpost, which was the center of why she had come to Ryloth in the first place. “Your Majesty, Sparkling Medley, what is your status?” Secura asked into her com. “We secured the package. We’re commencing immediate Evac procedures now.” Came a voice in response. “Good.” Aayla responded before she saw the Empire calling in reinforcements. “Because I might require your assistance.” She added. “Don’t worry Master Jedi. We’ll be right out and then those imperials are haybales.” Came a different voice. “Over and out.” Secura nodded as the connection was cut. She extended her hand to reach out with the force, and one of the walkers the Empire called in slammed into another, taking both out. Secure went back to deflecting bolts, before her com sprang to life again. “Hello? Hello? Can anyone hear me? This is Admiral Ackbar of the Rebel Alliance. Is anyone down there?” “This is Jedi Knight Aayla Secura. I read you Admiral.” Secura responded. “Tracking your com signal now, we’re here to get you out of there.” Ackbar told Aayla. Aayla smiled in response. “Much appreciated Admiral. I am not alone, I’m with a pair of Alicorn mares. We’ve raided an imperial outpost.” She told him. “Acknowledged. I’m sending a transport to your location now.” Ackbar responded. With that, the connection was cut again. In space, Wonderbolt Squadron launched from the hangar and threw it into full burn towards the three Star Destroyers. “Alright ponies! Let’s tear them up!” Spitfire said over coms. “Copy that.” “Let’s give them what four!” “We’re with you Spits.” “U-Wing transport 246, stay locked on my course.” Spitfire ordered Rainbow. “Roger that.” Rainbow said. Soarin looked out his viewport and saw the TIEs coming right for them. “Heads up gang, we have TIEs coming!” He said. “I see them.” Spitfire responded as she, Fleetfoot, Rainbow, and Soarin started their descent to the planet’s surface. “Thunderlane! You lead the rest of the squadron to counter those TIEs and hit those Star Destroyers. Keep them off us!” “Copy that Wonderbolt leader. With any luck those TIEs will be cleared when you return.” Thunderlane responded. “Admiral Ackbar to Wonderbolts Squadron. We just confirmed Master Secura’s location. She’s not alone, a pair of Alicorn mares are with her.” Ackbar told the squadron through coms. At that, Rainbow’s eyes widened. Had she heard right? “What? a pair of Alicorn mares?” She asked. She didn’t think there were ANY Alicorns this far out from Equuis. “That’s what Secura told me.” “Did she say WHO these mares were?” Rainbow asked as she ran through the short list of who could possibly be out here. “She didn’t name names.” Ackbar responded. “Dash, focus! So we’re picking up three instead of one. You’ll find out who when we get down there!” Spitfire shouted through the coms. Rainbow shook her head, and nodded. “Copy that. I’m on your tale Spits.” She said. She decided to drop it for now. There were only six ponies that were Alicorns as far as she knew. On the ground, Aayla had been joined by her two companions, Princess Twilight Sparkle, and her wife, Sparkling Medley. They both had their horns lit and were blasting away at the Imperial forces that were trying to swarm them. “Ok, whatever the Empire was doing here with these gems, CLEARLY they don’t want us to leave.” Sparkler commented as she blasted a squad away. “I’ve received word that the Rebellion was here. A transport is on its way.” Aayla told the mares. “Good. Because the alternative was stealing an imperial vessel and time is not on our side.” Twilight responded. The battle on the ground continued, shortly, they noticed that the Empire had called in AT-AT walkers. Sparkler’s eyes widened at the massive machines. “This isn’t looking good!” She exclaimed. Right then, laser bolts started smashing into the walkers and the walkers came crashing down. Laser bolts also started raining down on the imperial forces. Aayla glanced up and saw three X-Wings and a transport descending from the sky. “The force is with us today. Help has arrived.” She said. In the transport, Rainbow got a look at the two ponies as she came for a landing, and she was absolutely stunned. What the hay are THEY doing here?! She thought as she touched down. The doors to the transport opened and she glanced back to see the Jedi board the shuttle with her friends, Sparkler and Twilight. “Sparkler? Twilight? What the hay are you doing here?” She asked. “Rainbow?” Twilight asked. She saw her friend at the helm and smiled widely. “Rainbow! You’re here!” She exclaimed happily. Lightning Dust rolled her eyes. “Ugh! Focus people! We still need to get the hay out of here!” She said. Rainbow nodded and lifted off from the ground. “U-Wing transport 246 to Wonderbolt Squadron. Mission accomplished.” She said. “Copy that, now get the hay back to Home One. We’ll cover you.” Spitfire responded. Back in space, the TIE fighters were pretty much all cleaned out. Thunderlane smiled as the last of them exploded. “Woo! And that’s the last of them!” He exclaimed. “Good. Now let’s start working on those Star Destroyers!” Another squad mate said. On the lead Imperial ship, the captain watched the X-Wings and the Rebel fleet charge right for them. He was fuming. “All batteries, tear that fleet apart!” He growled. And so the Star Destroyers began unloading on the Rebels, who were firing back with just as much force. But it was a lost cause for the Empire, because with space superiority and greater numbers, the three Star Destroyers were relatively easy work. Ackbar watched as the three star destroyers were completely destroyed. A rebel officer approached him. “Sir, Wonderbolt Squadron is reporting mission complete, the U-Wing’s back in the hangar.” She said. “Good.” Ackbar responded as he turned to head to the hangar. In the Hangar, Wonderbolt Squadron all landed and had gathered around the transport. The transport’s doors opened and they saw the Jedi and two Alicorns disembark. “Princess Twilight?!” Exclaimed Thunderlane. All the ponies immediately bowed. Twilight saw the ponies bow and just smiled and shook her head. “It’s ok everypony, you don’t need to bow to me.” She said. “Thanks for the rescue.” “No problem Twilight.” Rainbow said as she and Lightning Dust disembarked from the transport. “Now mind telling me what the hay you’re doing all the way out here?” Before anyone could answer, Admiral Ackbar made his presence known. “Master Jedi.” He said, addressing Aayla. “It does the galaxy good to see that you’re alright.” Aayla smiled in response. “Thank you for the evac Admiral Ackbar. Wonderbolt Squadron performed well.” She complimented the squadron. Spitfire smiled proudly. “It was a textbook operation.” She said. “Although we didn’t count on there being two Alicorns with you.” She said as all eyes turned to Sparkler and Twilight. “Yeah, we had to come all the way out here. Because the Empire took something from us.” Twilight lit her horn and a few objects exited her saddlebag. The ponies gasped. “The Elements of Harmony?!“ Rainbow exclaimed. “I thought those were lost forever?” “Twilight and I went out looking for them when we received a tip off about the Empire experimenting with magical rocks.” Sparkler explained. “We crossed paths when they arrived on Ryloth. I agreed to assist them in their endeavor.” Aayla explained. Rainbow smiled. “Ha. Well that should teach the Empire not to meddle with things they don’t understand.” She said. Twilight nodded in reply. “Yeah. Especially with what they were planning.” She commented. “Did you find out what they were planning?” Soarin asked. “We did find clues. Whatever they were planning. It’s big, and it’s crazy powerful.” Sparkler responded. “Hmm.” Ackbar responded as he rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “We might need to keep a closer eye on the Empire. I fear a trap coming.” “Yes.” Aayla responded. “There is a great disturbance in the force. Something is coming.” Spitfire smirked. “Well when it comes, we’ll be ready.” She said. “Yeah. The Empire can eat it.” Everypony acknowledged their agreement as the Rebel fleet launched into Hyperspace, seeing no more reason to stay there after their victory. The End.
