"No." The single word came out in a much higher pitch than even Rarity was expecting. Clearing her throat, she looked around at her five best friends. She noticed Pinkie Pie's tail starting to twitch. "Pinkie..." Rarity kept her voice calm. "What? My tail is just twitching Rarity." Pinkie replied in her usual high-pitched voice. Rarity had noticed that Pinkie wasn't looking at her directly. "This is totally cool, like twenty percent cooler." "What is darling?" "Look we all know Spike's has had a crush on you for years." Rainbow went on. Rarity bit back a grin, but her cheeks blushing she couldn't hide. Applejack noticed Rarity blushing. "Sugar cube, you've been avoiding him haven't ya?" Applejack asked in her southern tone. "He's....been busy Applejack." Rarity replied. "So I wasn't going to bother him." Twilight in her adult alicorn form stood several heads higher than the rest, opened her wings, and smiled at Rarity. "Spike's been staying busy to keep himself from thinking about you. I've never seen him like this. He knows that you've been avoiding him." "Guess we both have. Well...I doubt it would hurt to talk to him." Rarity said trying to sound casual. "Where is he?" "Up on a balcony on the second floor that juts out overlooking Ponyville. He calls it his thinking spot." Twilight replied. Rarity nodded at Twilight for the information. Took in a deep breath and started to walk up to where Spike was. She already knew the spot. *** Spike was deep in thought. He couldn't get Rarity out of his head no matter what he did. What am I going to do? He thought with his elbows resting on the railing. "Spike?" He hadn't heard her even approach. His head shot up and he spun on his heels. The next few seconds passed by in slow motion. He'd leaned back and felt himself starting to fall. He let out a gasp when Rarity without even hesitating jumped out to try and catch him. Spike managed to grab Rarity around the waist just before they both went over the railing. The five friends inside the castle froze at the sudden shrill sound. They all ran outside the castle. Rainbow was the first to spot Rarity and Spike falling over the railing. She was ready to take off, but she watched something amazing happen. Fluttershy hid her eyes behind her hair. Pinkie had pulled a trampoline out of nowhere ready to catch them. Spike had rotated in midair and opened his now larger wings. The wind took them both up into the sky. Rarity could feel Spike's grip on her. She took in a breath and glanced up at Spike. "Um...hi. I didn't mean to scare you like that." Rarity confessed. "Rarity, you...didn't hesitate, did you?" "No..." Rarity said recalling what just happened. "Nor did you in catching me. I had come up to the balcony to talk to you." When Spike didn’t respond she added. “Well say something, darling.” "Guess I feel for you long ago," Spike admitted. Rarity smiled at him. “I knew you already had darling.” "I know you've been avoiding me, and I know why." "Yes, darling the others informed me. Guess my actions just now spoke louder." Rarity replied and she found herself actually enjoying flying around with him. "Um...could we do this again?" "What? Fall off a railing together?" Rarity giggled a bit and leaned up to kiss his cheek. "No, darling. I've fallen for you as well." She lifted an eyebrow at his grin. “You know what I mean darling.” “Of course, I guess we found a unique way of confessing,” Spike said turning his body slightly so they could circle around Ponyville. He dipped his body in the sky and closed his wings to dive down to the ground. Rarity’s eyes widened at the feeling of wind rushing over her body, her mane wiping around her. Spike opened his wings and landed on the ground. A gust of wind swirled around them. He kept Rarity in his arms as the rest of the group came up to them. “That was undeniably awesome,” Rainbow said floating off the ground using her wings. “Oh my, I take it you’re okay Rarity?” Fluttershy asked seeing the wide grin on Rarity’s face. “Of course, darling.” “Rarity, I know you could have used your magic to just catch Spike,” Twilight said. Rarity looked at Twilight with a smile. “To be honest, I didn’t think I had time. I just acted, my heart was in control, not my magic.” Spike could picture the tears in Rarity’s eyes as he was starting to fall over the edge. “I wasn’t even sure I could control the fall. I just knew I had to protect her. All I remember is looking down over Ponyville.” He said kneeling down to let Rarity stand on her own four hooves. “I guess I blacked out the fall itself.” Spike glanced up when something tapped him on the head. “Huh?” He opened his claw and caught the item. “Hum must have fallen off the railing just now.” “Um darling, what do you have?” Rarity asked catching sight of something sparkling. “My reason for being spaced out when you came up to talk to me and my reason for avoiding you.” Rarity’s jaw dropped open when he let her see the ring in his claw, it had sapphires gems around the ring. “Spikey…” Their friends around them dropped their jaws at the sight of Spike kneeling down on one knee. He smiled from ear to ear as he took Rarity’s hoof in his claw. “I think I already know the answer, but I’ll still ask you. I know you more than anypony ever will. I know your heart and your dreams. It’s why I can’t image my life without you.” Rarity felt her heart melting with each word he spoke. With tears in her eyes. “Marry me, Rarity.” “Of course, I will.”
