> Starlight In Snowfall Land > by TheSuperTransformerFan > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Prologue: Time Re-Travel > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was an ordinary day in Ponyville! The birds were singing, the ponies were hanging out, and Starlight Glimmer, herself was relaxing in the Castle of Friendship. Somehow, little did she know, it wouldn’t be such an ordinary day for her as she would wind up in a time travel adventure! She yawned as she walked into the throne room, having just finished her breakfast. Her eyes were tired, and her mane was a teeny bit frizzled. “I'm bored!” She said out loud. “Everyday, it's the same stuff! I eat, play, the changelings chase us, we chase the changelings…boring!” She put her hoof on the cutie map. “I need an adventure.” As soon as she touched the cutie map, a bubble similar to the one Twilight and Spike had been sucked up into, chasing her appeared! She gasped, as she was unable to avoid being sucked up into it, and she disappeared! Starlight kept on screaming, as she tumbled through what could only be described as a time bubble. At last, the bubble spit her on the familiar grounds of Canterlot, though the buildings looked like they were a little older than before. She got up. “Boy, be careful what you wish for! Where am I?” she wondered. And, that was when she noticed where she was. “Canterlot?” She asked. “Why did the map send me here? And why do the buildings look a little older?” She sure was confused so far. But, what really surprised her was that she saw ponies in well-dressed clothing, as if it was like they were on the Island of Grand Jatte. She then noticed her cutie mark glowing. Now, she really was confused at this. “My cutie mark’s glowing?” She asked. Was she on a friendship problem? She decided to walk around the town, in search of ponies with any problems concerning them. As she was walking around town, she could instantly realize that each of the building had a bit of a holiday feel around them. She saw wreaths, ornaments, baubles, and ribbons. She was confused at first, but after seeing more buildings with those same decorations, she figured it out. “It must be getting close to Hearthswarming Eve.” She said out loud, putting the pieces together. “And I must have been sent there…” she beamed. “Maybe, because Princess Celestia wants me to help with her new pageant!” She felt like she wanted to scream like a little girl in excitement, as that time of year made her feel more warm inside herself ever since Twilight read her the story, A Hearthswarming Tail. Since then, she felt so happy about the holiday. She hummed the song she and her friends sung that fateful night. She saw ponies with bells around them, and her smile only got wider, as she continued to trot through the town. She stopped eventually, noticing a house that had no decorations at all on it. The setting on it was rather…dark. Her cheery expression was now confused, as to why it wasn’t decorated this time of year. “I’ll think maybe someone forgot to put up their decorations.” She thought to herself. “Maybe, I could help him or her with setting up their house for the holiday.” She walked towards the house, and saw that it looked dark inside. “Is somepony home?” she wondered, as she checked the other windows. She didn’t see anyone here, which was strange. She pondered as to why they weren’t home, as a few ponies caroling strolled by the house. Suddenly, she heard a growl…from upstairs inside the house, making her ears perk. That meant that somepony was home! She went to the side of the house, and put her ear to the house. “Well, that batch is ruined.” A voice said from inside. It turned out to be female, as Starlight carefully ignited her horn, and lifted herself from the ground to the upstairs level of the house. Sure enough, she saw a pony in their working on a cauldron, and the pony thought that cauldron looked familiar. She tried to deduce who it could be. Zecora, maybe? Nah. She never comes to Canterlot, and she lives in the Everfree forest. So...? At this point, Starlight was close enough to ask, so she cleared her throat. She then saw a pony zoom into the room, who also turned out to be female. She was in nice clothing as well, but her mane color was totally what stood out. She saw the mane was Rainbow coloured, and that her coat was cyan! Her eyes widened, as she saw her. “Rainbow Dash?!” she thought in surprise. “What’s she doing in Canterlot?” She leaned in closer for a better look. She did see a well-dressed female pony, and somepony who did look like Rainbow Dash…but also, Kinda not. She listened in on the conversation that was going on inside. “What do you need?” the pony who looked like Rainbow asked the other well-dressed pony. “Get this mess cleaned up.” That other well-dressed female pony barked. “Those foolish ponies were ringing those blasted bells outside the window and I lost my concentration!” Starlight’s ear perked up, as she heard that voice. That voice was just like her own, as her eyes widened. “Whoa, ponies actually enjoying Hearth's Warming Eve.” The Rainbow Dash pony said, under her breath. “Where did they get that crazy idea?” “Today is nothing to celebrate.” The other pony said, as Starlight was still listening on. “Hearth's Warming Eve is a menace. A dangerous day for all of Equestria.” “Hearth’s Warming is a menace?" Starlight exclaimed in outrage. "Okay. That’s not how…” she sighed. “Wow, Twilight would feel so insulted…” She grumbled. “Dangerous?! It's awesome!” The Rainbow Dash lookalike said with glee. “It's the day we remember how unicorns, Pegasi, and Earth ponies came together in friendship to defeat the windigos!” “That silly legend is the problem!” The other pony said, strongly. “Telling everypony that "singing songs and being nice" will solve anything?” She just scoffed. “I've spent years studying magic, and that's not how it works.” The Rainbow Dash lookalike was confused at the other pony. “I think you might be missing the point.” she told her. That just earned the other pony a chance to get into her face angrily. “Work hard, learn, and use your skills…” That was all Starlight heard, as she somehow accidentally slipped off the windowsill, and fell into the snow. She got back up, and saw the Rainbow Dash lookalike leave excitedly. She smiled. “Well, at least she’s excited for Hearthswarming Eve.” She said out loud happily, as she lifted herself from the ground and went back to the window to see the other pony. “That other voice…I wonder?” She took a good look at the window and saw the other pony. So far, she had a nice well-dressed red puffy shirt outfit. But, the other features would shock her, as she saw that her mane was straight up, and it was purple with cyan hairlines. That was how her mane was when she ran her equal pony town when she met Twilight. She even had yellow glasses on her nose, and what really shocked Starlight was that she had the same cutie mark as hers. It was then that she was seeing herself as if it were a mirror. But, it wasn’t herself, and it sure wasn’t any ordinary pony! It was… “Sn…Snowfall Frost?!” Starlight gasped in shock, upon seeing her. She had remembered Twilight telling her the story, but she never thought she’d actually see Snowfall Frost for real in her life! Once, she saw her menacing look, her blood ran cold, as that was the same attitude she had when she took away ponies’ cutie marks, and when she faced off against Twilight. She took one look at her flank, and back at Snowfall. She then realized something. “That Rainbow Dash lookalike must have been Snowdash!” she thought, as she got more shocked. “No wonder, she looked like one of my best friends!” She peered through the window to see Snowfall preparing a brew, and got nervous as she knew what her lookalike was planning. “I’ve got to find a way to help her!” She said out loud. “She doesn’t know what she’s in for, if she blindly casts that spell!” Starlight knew what Snowfall’s intentions were, and why. And now that she knew, she had to stop her from casting Equestria into a wintery destruction! But, how? Either way, she was in for a long ride! Even if that ride involved her meeting her lookalike! > Part 1: The Frost Of The Past > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Starlight Glimmer had recently been sent back in time to Canterlot many moons ago, and somehow saw her own double from the past…Snowfall Frost! Oh, and she saw Snowdash as well. Which can explain WHY she looked like one of Starlight’s best friends. She was now shocked upon finding out what Snowfall’s plan was…and she had to find a way to stop her from casting it! But, how? She had remembered that story Twilight told her, and from what she saw…the story was indeed true. Starlight would have to face a wintery white future! Not if she ran into her double, that is! “What am I going to do?” She asked in fear. “Is Snowfall going to get away with casting the spell? What's gonna happen to Equestria?!” She felt her stomach in a knot. “Ugh, this is making me sick all over again! I'll never get back to my time without knowing what happens to Snowfall, and my home!” Beads of sweat ran down her face. “I’m gonna have to find a way to talk to her without wrecking the time continuum ...” a lightbulb went off, and she planted a devious grin on her face. “Which may not be such a bad thing...” Starlight finally had a plan, and she would carry it out, as soon as the time was right and her double was distracted. Back in the house, Snowfall herself growled, upon seeing the ponies parade the town. She would have none of it, as she closed the curtains with rage. “I hate Hearth's Warming Eve!” She snarled. “All of Equestria would be better off if we just skipped the day altogether.” A smile then planted on her face, as she had an idea. She could cast a spell to erase it! Finally having the idea, she got a few potions out, and started singing a song. Say Goodbye To The Holiday Happy Hearth's Warming, they say in the street… Happy Hearth's Warming, they think they're so sweet. Words said so often that they lack any meaning… Why should I join in when I could be intervening? Everypony loves this cursed holiday, But, would they be better off with it out of the way? Well, okay! As she sung her song, Snowfall walked outside, and begun taking decorations down from a few of the buildings, and started to even take a few gifts from the towns ponies. Say goodbye to the holiday! With my magic, I'll erase it! The greatest gift that I give today, And everypony will have to face it! Starlight could only feel a little remorse, as she used her magic to return the gifts, as her double sang. She even patted a little colt on the head sweetly, as she went back to follow her devious duplicate, who went back inside her house. No more little games for you to play After you say goodbye to the holiday! Snowfall herself, gathered up a few of the decorations, and threw them into her bubbling cauldron, as her spell was about to be prepared. She even tore a day page from her calendar to show how serious she really was about this whole thing! Goodbye, Hearth's Warming, you had a good run! Goodbye, Hearth's Warming, it's over, you're done! Finally set free from your forced celebrations! No need to reply to your trite invitations! Calendar shorter by a single day… Is my magic up to the test? Time to see, I can't delay! She went over to her table, and grabbed a few potions, and spilled them in the cauldron. And as she was enjoying her one moment of glory, smoky projections of Windigoes flew out, and swirled around her! Say goodbye to the holiday! Prepare the spell, no hesitation! All memory shall fade away, and see Equestria's new transformation! No more shall anypony say Happy Hearth's Warming... ...after today! She let out a sinister laugh, as she embraced the fruits of her evil plan. She didn’t know that just behind her through the window, Starlight was watching her, giving the stink eye. She had a few strong words for that lookalike! And, not even a few unwanted spirits would barge in on her interference! Snowfall looked at her cauldron, and smiled. After today... The cauldron was all filled up, and Snowfall was ready to cast the spell. Nothing would interfere with her plans. “Once the spell is cast, all of Equestria will be better off, and they'll have me to thank for it!” She said deviously happily. She was about to cast her spell that would erase Hearth's Warming Eve for all time, when a voice…not from the hearth, but from outside the window caught her attention. “Erase Hearthswarming? Are you sure?” It asked. Snowfall was now frightened, as she heard that voice. “Huh?! Who's there?!” She cried out. Starlight seized this chance to quietly sneak in, through the window. The lookalike was nervous about where the voice came from, and it was that moment that she saw her double from the future…Starlight, herself looking just like her with her mane different, and without clothes! Snowfall’s eyes widened like saucers, as did Starlight’s. She was just about to scream upon seeing her. “What?” She gasped. “You look just like me!” She said, as felt her duplicate’s mane and coat. “I didn't cast any duplicate spell on myself or anyone for that matter.” She said suspiciously. “Who are you, and what are you doing here?” She took in a breath, and spoke. “I’m Starlight Glimmer.” She introduced herself. “…and I AM you…or rather, your descendant from the future.” Snowfall was extremely shocked as she heard this, and tried to collect her bearings. ““Y-You’re my descendant?” she asked, surprised. “I have descendants in the future?!” She nodded. “And, I know who you are…Snowfall Frost.” She said. This made Snowfall Jump out of her skin. “How do you know my name?” She asked in disbelief. “Oh, somepony read a story to me about you trying to cast Equestria in a winter wonderland!” Starlight giggled, as she went serious. “But, it won’t be much of a wonderland once you do cast it! And you're right, we do look alike!” “I’ve never met a pony who looked like me before.” Snowfall said in surprise. “And, I’ve never met one who was so stuck up!” Starlight said, flicking her horn. It made a "boioioing!" Sound. "Ow!" Snowfall shouted, as she rubbed it. Starlight snickered. "You know, if that didn't look like it hurt, I'd do it again.” She said. “The sound was hilarious." "How dare you!" Her double sputtered in anger. “...coming into my house, and flicking my horn like that!” "No, how dare you." Starlight said, pointing to her chest, before giggling. “You don't think a spell like that would get by without some powerful unicorn from the future noticing? You've got my attention, Snowfall, and I’ve got some pretty strong opinions on this spell of yours.” “You do?” Snowfall asked. “Mmm hmmm.” Starlight hummed. “And, I think it’s time get a move on. We got lots to see and barely any time to see it.” She stuck out her hoof. “Take my hoof.” She said. “I'm not going anywhere, me.” Snowfall scoffed. “I've got a spell to cast, and I don't need a history lesson about Hearth's Warming Eve.” But, Starlight just giggled. “Silly Snowfall.” She said to her. “We’re not going to learn about the holiday…We're going to learn about you.” Snowfall was shocked and suspicious, as she said that. “I’m still not taking any pony’s hoof.” She said skeptically. However, her hoof was grabbed, and she saw her future double’s hoof grabbing it. “What the?!” “You still are!” Starlight grinned at her, and she ignited her horn, and casted a ghosting spell on the two of them, as the time bubble opened up, and they were flung though it. Snowfall screamed, as she would be in for a long, rough ride! The time bubble opened up, and the two Starlights landed right by a tree which was a seedling. They got up, and Starlight smiled, looking at the town in its former glory. Snowfall was confused at this, as she saw her double catch a snowflake on her tongue. “I thought no one could see or hear us.” She asked. “And, where are we?” Starlight smiled. “We’re in the town, where you were when you were a filly.” She explained. Snowfall was flabbergasted at this. “You mean?” She sputtered out. She nodded. “That’s right, Snowfall Frost!” She said, pointing to the town. “This is your life!” Snowfall, herself was in for a trip down memory lane, as Starlight dragged her around the town happily, marveling at the sights and sounds as she sung a song! The Seeds Of The Past [Starlight Glimmer] As a young pony, life sure is something! You go making choices large and small! Always growin' like a seedling, And playin' is like dreaming! And before you know it, big and tall! And every little bitty choice you make… Sends you down a path to who you are today! So let's take a little trip down memory lane… And see just what the past has to say! The two stopped, and saw a a unicorn filly hanging out with her friends, and she had the same look as Starlight/Snowfall did when they were kids. She smiled, and blushed. “Aw, look how cute you were.” Starlight said, ruffling up her double’s mane. “Looks like you're not too upset it's Hearth's Warming Eve either.” All Snowfall could do was just smiled weakly, as Starlight pulled her along as she jumped in tune to the song. [Starlight Glimmer] The seeds of the past… They grow pretty fast! Just look at who you were back then! The seeds, as they grow… Look what they can show! Reveal the truth time and again! Snowfall’s ears flopped, as she saw her younger self have some much fun. However, her double pulled her right to a schoolhouse, and they both went right through the door. “Whoa!” She gasped at Starlight. “Warn me next time you're gonna do that.” “What did you expect? I cast a ghosting spell on us.” Starlight replied, and her double noticed that she did look transparent…as a ghost, which surprised her. She then saw Starlight go in one of the classrooms, and she followed her to see her younger self putting up decorations for Hearthswarming. She smiled to see herself, being all cheery-like. Suddenly, as the younger Snowfall was about to hang another ornament up, she looked up to see a elder pony in a black shirt. She gasped as she saw her professor, Flintheart. “Just what do you think you're doing, Snowfall?” he asked her gruffly. “Decorating the classroom for Hearth's Warming Eve, Professor Flintheart!” the young filly replied to him. “You said you wanted to learn to be a powerful unicorn.” Flintheart said to her. “Did you not?” “I do!” The filly piped up. “And what is the way that one becomes a powerful unicorn?” The professor asked her. The young Snowfall cleared her throat, and recited what she was taught. “Work hard, learn, and use your skills to better Equestria.” she said confidently. Starlight gasped, and nudged her double, who blushed and gave her the stink eye…again! That could really scare her. “And how do these help you to learn magic?” Flintheart asked, pointing to the box of ornaments, the young filly had out. “I want to be strong enough to stop windigos and help ponies!” The filly replied happily. “That's just a story we tell little ponies.” Flintheart said harshly to her. “Real magic takes time to learn.” He used his magic to shatter the ornament, sending the shards back into the box, making the young Snowfall start to cry. Starlight gasped in horror as she saw this unfold. “It's your choice.” He said finally to her. “Spend your time learning to become a powerful unicorn or play with your toys and make nothing of yourself.” He kicked the box to her, and left. The young filly stood there feeling helpless, like she had no idea what to do! She bowed her head, and then her expression changed to seriousness as she kicked the box to the side, and put her books on her desk as she started to read every book she ever read. The other kids looked at her excitedly, but she just turned away from them, being the Anti-social filly she would be today. Starlight’s expression was total shock, as she slunked down on the ground, feeling just as helpless as the young filly was earlier. “What? But…? How…? You let his influence get to you?!” She asked in complete shock. “Yes.” Snowfall said sadly, bowing her head down. “Well, why didn’t you stand up to him?!” Her double asked in shock, as Snowfall’s ears dropped, as she started to walk away. [Starlight Glimmer] There’s some distress, with words so careless… You’re standing there, and don't know what to do! Feeling helpless, you can't make it hurt less… so, you go and change your point of view! And in that moment, though you didn't know it… Your defenses set up walls you built to last. Leading to the pony you've become today! And the spell you're about to cast… It all comes from your past. Snowfall looked at younger self, all serious now. No longer was she the cheerful filly she once knew. Now, she was one with a cold heart, and any thing fun she now thought was just a waste of time. Her face fell as she saw herself, and bowed her head down. [Snowfall Frost] The seeds of the past… We grow up so fast. Some hurts never go away. [Starlight Glimmer] The seeds, as they grow… This we can't let go… All tied to this one holiday. She carefully took Snowfall’s arm. “I think it’s time we leave now.” She said solemnly, as her horn lit up, and the too went into an abyss of darkness as they faded away from the past. Now, Starlight knew why her double was so cross in the present. However, it wasn’t over yet. There were still two time trips left. And sooner or later, Starlight…and Snowfall would meet a familiar friend…one who the present pony knew all too well! > Part 2: A Spirit’s Present > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snowfall opened her eyes to see herself back in her house with the cauldron. She didn’t know what to do now, as she looked around for her, now realizing why she had been this way. “Starlight?” She asked, looking around. “Where are you? What am I supposed to—“ “Right here!” The future Pony said from behind her, making her ancestor scream and turn around in shock. She hyperventilated for a few seconds before recollecting herself. “Don’t do that!” Snowfall said, pointing at her. “You really scared me!” “Sorry.” Starlight apologized. “I’m still here, though.” This made Snowfall let out a sigh of relief. “Warn me where you pop up next time.” She said, as they both met back up, only to walk into a box they didn’t notice. They both looked up, and were a little confused to see a giant present inside. “A present?” Starlight asked in confusion. “What’s a present doing in your house?” Snowfall shrugged, as Starlight pulled the ribbon off, as the box immediately sprung open, making the two mares jump back. “Snowfall Frost!” a voice said from inside the box, as a silhouetted pony popped out. Starlight’s ears perked up, and her eyes widened as she knew that exact voice. “That voice! It can’t be! Could it?” she wondered. The figure emerged from the shadows to reveal a pony that Starlight had known really well. Her mane was bubbly and pink, and she was in a yellow robe! Even her coast was pink! She even had a candy wreath on her head. “It is I, the Spirit of Hearth's Warming Presents!” She announced. “What the?!” Snowfall asked. “PINKIE PIE?!” Starlight gasped, as the party pony lookalike saw and gasped at the two ponies. “What the?! TWO SNOWFALL FROSTS?!” She gasped, trying to comprehend the picture in front of her. “What in the wide wide world of Equestria is going on here?” “Uh, that’s Starlight Glimmer.” Snowfall said, pointing to the surprised pony. “She’s my sister. Her parents are out of town…WAY out of town!” “Oh!” The spirit said, upon seeing her. “I guess that makes sense.” Starlight was still taken aback by the pony’s sudden appearance. “Pinkie? I didn’t think you’d be here!” She said surprised, and a little excited. “How did you even get here?” The spirit was confused, however upon hearing the name. “Sorry. Never heard of a ‘Pinkie Pie’.” She said, as she pondered. “But, she does sound like a cool pony, and so does the name.” She turned back to them. “As I said, I am the Spirit of Hearth's Warming Presents!” “Um, don't you mean "Present", like the time?” Snowfall asked, confused. “No!” The spirit said to her, handing her a various pile of festive items. “Toys, Hearth's Warming doll... Here, want a cupcake?” Starlight excitedly gobbled up the cupcake. “Fine, Presents.” Snowfall said, grumpy. “All of the pointless things ponies waste their time on.” “Hey, I don’t think they waste time on those things!” Starlight shot at her, her behavior, defensive. “Oh, You Two!” The spirit told her. “It’s not what the gift is that matters, it's what the gift means!” “It doesn't mean anything.” Snowfall disagreed. “It's just stuff!” “I beg to differ.” Starlight said. “Exactly what she said!” The party spirit said, as she got out a few toys and items out of nowhere. “Sometimes a cupcake means I love you! Or a toy means Hi, how're you doing? Sometimes a book means Your mane looks amazing! And sometimes a scarf means...” she put the scarf on her neck. “Well, a scarf usually means you look cold. That one's easy.” “I don't understand anything you're saying.” Snowfall said, a little confused at this. “Well, that’s Pinkie for you.” Starlight told her, smirking. “She is pretty random.” Snowfall just sighed in exasperation. “Y’know, one thing I love about travelling is that you run into ponies you know!” “I’m going to be in for a rough ride for this, aren’t I?” Snowfall asked. Starlight nodded, as they noticed the spirit’s tail went twitching. “Pinkie, What's happening to you?!” Starlight asked, rushing over to her. “My Spirit of Hearth's Warming Presents Sense is going off!” She answered to them. “That means a song is coming on!” She grabbed the two ponies excitedly, as Starlight beamed in excitement. “Oh, I knew that was what she was going to say!” She squealed. “Another song?” Snowfall asked, as she nodded, making her sigh, as the Spirit pushed them out the door, as Starlight got up and cartwheeled into town, as the party spirit kicked off her song. Pinkie’s Present [Pinkie Pie] Take a look at everything around you! All the smells that surely will astound you! Open up your heart, it will surround you, In the magic of Hearth's Warming Eve! Apparently, as the spirit sung, the song became so catchy, that it made Starlight herself dance right by her double’s side, as Snowfall just sighed. [Pinkie Pie] The little things that make it better! Little ponies spreading cheer… Give a toy, a hug, a sweater! Memories that last all year! As Snowfall tried to walk away, the party spirit came up to her on both sides, taking her by surprise. Starlight just smiled, as she hummed the song as well. [Pinkie Pie] The present's always filled with presents, Large, medium, and small. Sometimes the most important things… Aren't very big at all! She made a few tap dancing shoes appear on a colt’s feet, as he excitedly tap danced with the spirit. Starlight was happy, and interested to see what looked like her friend dance. “Excuse me, but I couldn’t help but notice that you’re dancing, and I really love it. If you don’t mind, could I give it a go?” She asked. The spirit nodded, as it, Starlight, and the colt tap danced synchronized, and they smiled as they did so. They then went to a nearby house that was all lit up, which had a party going on in there. Snowfall watched the scene unfold, as the spirit not only sung, but Starlight piggybacked on her vocals. [Pinkie Pie] What a party, there's so much to see here! Can't believe you didn't want to be here! You'd have had a blast, I guarantee here! This is the spirit of Hearth's Warming Eve! [Starlight Glimmer] Cider's flowing, this is living… Come on and feel the beat! Life is better when you're giving… Each time you do it feels so sweet! [Pinkie Pie] The present's always filled with presents… So come on, open your eyes! Spend time with ponies just like you, And watch your spirits rise! [Starlight Glimmer] The present's always filled with presents! Take a look around! [Pinkie Pie] The reason for the holiday… Is quite easily found! [Both] Yes, the reason for the holiday…. Is quite easily found! And the reason is to be with your friends! “And the reason is to be with your friends!” The pupil sang, and giggled. “Oh, that song was great! I could sing that one for hours!” The spirit hugged her, and ruffled her mane, and frankly she was so excited, that she didn’t care at all. “Trust me…the holiday is THAT good!” She said to her, as Snowfall walked up. They all saw that the party was in full swing. Everyone was embracing each other’s company, sipping on cider, and listen to music. It was a nice warm feeling inside, as Snowdash flew to a few of her friends, which oddly enough to Starlight, looked just like two of her friends…Fluttershy and Rarity! She was quite surprised to even see them at a place like this! She thought about to going in, and was about to do so when she slammed into the window, and fell back on her butt. She got back up, and rubbed her head. “Oh, I forgot we don’t have the ghosting spell on us anymore.” She groaned. “Silly Starlight.” The party spirit giggled. “Why would you be a ghost in the present?” “Good point.” Starlight admitted. All three of them watched the party unfold. “Snowdash!” The Rarity lookalike greeted her happily, as she and the Fluttershy lookalike came to her. “Hey, Merry.” Snowdash said happily, and a little sad at the same time. Right away, both ponies could tell something didn’t feel right with her emotions. “Why, whatever is the matter, darling?” Merry asked with concern. “Was it the eggnog?” Flutterholly asked, nervously. “Oh, I knew I put in too much cinnamon!” “Oh, no, the eggnog was awesome, Flutterholly.” Snowdash said to them. “I'm just mad at somepony who was complaining about how awful Hearth's Warming Eve is.” She glared through the window as the three ponies’ outside widened their eyes. Now, who could THAT be? “I don't suppose that pony's name starts with Snow?” Merry asked, as if she knew. “And ends with Frost?” Flutterholly finished the question. Outside, Starlight sighed in relief. “At least they didn’t ask if started with Star, and ended with Glimmer.” Starlight said, jokingly to them, as Snowfall just stayed confused, while The party spirit giggled. “That’s the one!” Snowdash confirmed, catching the attention of everyone in the room. “She said Hearth's Warming Eve is just an excuse to party, and we would all be better off spending time working to make Equestria a better place.” Everypony booed at her response, as Starlight outside cringed with her ears flopping. “Yeesh. Tough crowd.” She whispered. “Tell me about it.” The party spirit agreed, as Snowfall could only feel a little remorse for not being so jolly earlier to her assistant. “What does Snowfall think a better Equestria looks like?” Merry asked Snowdash. The Rainbow Dash lookalike responded by doing her mane like Snowfall’s or Starlight’s when she ran her town. “Ponies working hard, learning, and using their abilities for the benefit of Equestria.” she firmly replied, as her friends just giggled. Starlight was shocked as she saw this, and almost growled. “Hey, I do NOT sound like that!” She said, crossing her arms. She eventually, glared over to window to watch more of the party. Snowfall, however, watched a few foals racing around happily, and giggling. “It looks like we've got everything on Snowfall's list right here.” Merry said from inside, smiling. “I think a perfect Equestria looks a lot like a Hearth's Warming Eve party.” Flutterholly agreed, as the curtains shut, as they resumed their party. Outside, Starlight was thunderstruck to see her friends…or what looked like them, and was even more surprised to see them talk about her double, as she turned to see Snowfall bowing her head down. She put a hoof on her shoulder, and smiled. Snowfall looked at her, and smiled weakly. “Me too!” The Pinkie Pie spirit said happily to them, as she then switched to sadness. “Too bad it's going to be the last one ever! Ever! Ever! Ever!” She droned until she was out of the sight of both Starlights. Now, both ponies were now nervous, as they didn’t know what would happen, and that this would be the last year of Hearthswarming! They each had questions. “Wait, Pinkie! What do you mean this is the last one?! What's going to happen?!” Starlight asked. Suddenly, Starlight felt a chill unlike no other, as she hugged herself for warmth. They then both noticed large wintery like clouds enveloping the whole city, and she was immediately frightened. “And, why are we so chilly all of a sudden?” Snowfall asked her, as she hugged herself as well. “I don’t know.” Starlight said, as they were about to be enveloped by the winter clouds. “But, I have a feeling we’re about to find out!” The clouds were coming, and something bad was going to happen. And, no matter the outcome, the two ponies braced themselves, preparing for the worst. > Part 3: The Glimmer Of The Future > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- When we last left Starlight Glimmer and Snowfall Frost, they were both hugging each other for warmth…and the wintery clouds were about to envelop all of Canterlot! Ponyville even! Both ponies’ futures were in big trouble! The spell hasn’t been cast! All hope was going to lie with Starlight now! “Why do we feel so cold all of a sudden, Starlight?” Snowfall asked, hugging herself. “What’s going on??” Starlight looked around, and shrugged as she could give no answer. They both walked a little closer, and were enveloped in the clouds. When the clouds disappeared, as they came through, Starlight gasped to see all of Canterlot covered in snow! “Oh, no!” She said, sad and horrified. “No! This can’t be! Where is Everypony?” “What happened here?” Snowfall asked, upon seeing the snowy area, getting more nervous. “Starlight, are you going to show me what the future of Hearth's Warming Eve is like?” “No. Because, there is no future Hearthswarming Eve’s!” Starlight said, turning to her. “Everypony is gone!” She bowed her head down. “And, it’s no mystery as to who caused it.” “Who…caused all this?” Snowfall asked, wanting to know. Starlight looked up to her furiously, eyes angry and teeth clenched. “It was all caused by YOU!” She snarled. “YOU caused all this to happen!” Now, Snowfall was really shocked at her double angry at her, as she gulped. “I caused this?” She asked, worriedly. “Yes.” Starlight said with a calm demeanour. “And, you’ll succeed in plunging this whole city into an eternal winter!” Snowfall was mortified now, realizing that her actions would cause all this. “I didn’t mean for this to happen.” She said, her expression faltering. “But, it did happen!” Starlight continued angrily at her, as she suddenly grabbed her head in pain. “Aaaah!” Snowfall was shocked at seeing her like this, as she rushed over to her. “Starlight, what’s wrong?” She asked frantically. “What’s happening?? I can help!” “I…don’t…know!” Starlight grunted, as she suddenly looked at herself, and saw that her hoof was vanishing. She gasped in horror upon seeing this. “Oh no!” She said softly. “Starlight, what’s happening to you?!” Snowfall asked, as she saw her hoof vanishing. “I think I’m starting to fade away!” Her double replied with fright. “What?!” She asked in horror. “But, you can’t vanish! You just can’t! If that happens, then…” “Don’t you get it?!” Starlight shouted at her, making her jump back. “If you cast the spell, not only Equestria will fall, but I will cease to exist!” Snowfall saw her still vanishing, and gasped. Was this what her actions would cause? “I’m your descendant! And if this happens, I won’t exist! I’ll never come to be!” Now, Snowfall was really shocked at all this! “You mean…?” She started. “Yes!” Starlight said to her. “Everything we do here in the past…even the smallest change…can snowball into an avalanche of trouble for the future! The fate of all of Equestria hangs in the balance…even our own lives!” She grabbed Snowfall’s wrist, and ignited her horn. “I don't know how important other ponies' friendships are to the future, but I can show you what the world is like without mine!” she said bravely, as the time bubble appeared above them, and without warning, sucked them both up, as they were out of the time zone. The time bubble spat them out onto the grounds of Ponyville…only they were outside, and there were many trees. Changelings were out there as well, zapping everyone in sight, as they frantically ran away from them. Both ponies were shocked at their appearances. “What’s going on here?” Snowfall asked in shock. Starlight took in a deep breath, and opened her mouth. “There have been a few alternate timelines that I have caused in the past.” She explained, pointing to this dimension. “In this one, the changelings took over Canterlot successfully and few ponies had managed to evade their leader…Queen Chrysalis, and set up a few resistance camps.” Snowfall really had questions now. “Who is Chrysalis? What are changelings?” She asked upon seeing the scene unfold. “Chrysalis is the changeling queen!” Starlight explained to her. “Changelings are bug-like ponies that take the form of somepony you love and gain power by feeding off your love for them.” Now, Snowfall was starting to get scared as she saw a few changelings approach her, and hiss and change into her. She gasped in shock, as she clung onto her double. “Get me away from those bugs!” She screamed, as the fake Snowfall came to her, and Starlight cast the time bubble, sending them out of this timeline, and into the next. The time bubble spat them out onto the ground again, only this time, they weren’t in Ponyville. Also, it wasn’t day…it was night! And they weren’t in just any old town. They were in…the Everfree forest! Snowfall got up, and saw the sky. “Why is it night?” She asked. “…and, why are we still in the forest?” She was confused. “We’re in the Everfree forest.” Starlight replied, as she looked up, and gasped. “It’s where plants grow, animals care for themselves, and the clouds move all on their own!” Snowfall saw a few clouds move, and felt like she was starting to faint. However, Starlight caught her. “Are you gonna scream?” She asked, as her double shook her head. “Good.” She released her. “So, what happened in this timeline?” Her double asked. “Well…Starlight started, as she suddenly gasped at seeing a castle in the area. It wasn’t Canterlot Castle, but it was… “The Castle of the Two Sisters!” she said in silent shock. She then heard a growl, and saw a few wolves trying to get at her. “Timberwolves!” She screamed, as she grabbed Snowfall as they both ran closer to the castle. They made it inside, slamming the door behind them. “Are you okay?” Starlight asked her double. She nodded. “I am a little scared right now!” Snowfall answered. “Why are we here? Who has taken over? And why were there timberwolves chasing us?” She looked up. “And why is it night?” Starlight felt a chill, run down her spine. “Oh, no.” She said quietly. “It can’t be!” She was right, as a dark blue alicorn had materialized over them, and was now looming over them. Both mares’ ears flopped, as they knew her…but each knew her differently. “Nightmare Moon?!” Snowfall asked. “Princess Luna?!” Starlight asked, as they looked at each other. “Oh, come on! I said Moon that time!” “No, you didn’t!” Snowfall grunted. Starlight only rolled her eyes, as they saw her above them. “Has my sister sent me a few snacks?” The alicorn hissed. “As graceful as the gesture is, it will not work. The night will last," she threw her head back as she cackled evilly—“FOREVER!” Both mares were really scared now, as her jaws were open at them! “Get us out of here, Starlight!” Snowfall shouted, shaking her. The time pony held her in place, as she cast the time bubble, and sucked them out of the timeline. The armored alicorn was shocked to see that her enemies were gone. “What?! No! Noooooo!“ she bellowed, as stomped the ground in rage, as she missed her chance to strike at them. And, she never would as she angrily returned to her throne. The time bubble spat the out again, and this time, it was dusk, as they landed. They both got up, and were instantly shocked to see an array of black crystals sprouting up from the ground. A few armored troops were even scouting the grounds, as a phantasmic pony king materialized on the pile of Crystal, laughing evilly. “What…what happened?” Snowfall asked. “Sombra happened.” Starlight confirmed. “When the Crystal Empire returned, it brought King Sombra back with it. And it didn't take long for him to force every one of his subjects to fight for him against Equestria.“ she pointed to a few armed subjects take on Celestia’s troops as they tried endlessly to fight him. “And even with Princess Celestia leading the charge, it still takes every last pony in Equestria doing their part, working day and night, to keep up the fight.” She finished, as Snowfall was just bewildered at this. “This is the most darkest future I’ve seen!” Snowfall said in horror. “I don’t want to envision my future being something like that!” She shook her double. “Take me back! I don’t want Equestria to wind up like this!” “If you insist.” Starlight said, as she revved up the time bubble. “But before we head back, there’s one more thing I want you to see.” “Am I going to like it?” Snowfall asked. She shook her head. “Then, I don’t want to see it!” “You don’t have a choice!” Starlight said, as they were flung through time once more! The time bubble spat them out onto the air town Cloudsdale, as both Twilight and Starlight fought each other for the fate of the rainboom! As past Starlight zapped young Rainbow Dash, past Twilight and Spike were sucked in a time bubble. The two mares got up. “Where are we?” Snowfall asked. “Cloudsdale?” Starlight asked in wonder. She scanned the area, and was surprised to see herself fighting her own mentor. She gasped. “What is it?” Snowfall asked, as she went to her double’s side. “That’s me!” Starlight said, pointing to her past self, as Twilight and Spike returned! Snowfall was stymied at the fact the she saw her mentor, and her past self. “Up for another race-ending fight, Twilight?” Past Starlight smugly asked her. “No. You were right.” Twilight said, her head bowed down. “I can't stop you.” Snowfall was shocked at who else was there with her past self. “That’s you?!” Snowfall asked, as her double nodded. “And, who are they?” She pointed to the other two. “Those are Twilight Sparkle, and Spike my mentor and her assistant in the future.” Starlight answered, as Starlight gasped. “That’s your mentor?!” Snowfall shouted so loud in the heavens, that almost everyone heard her…well, except for her past self and the other two. Starlight shushed, her and nodded. Snowfall was shocked, as she watched the scene unfold. “But you can't stop me from trying, and we could be stuck doing this for all eternity!” Past Twilight continued to say, as Past Starlight zapped her, as she dodged. “If that's what it takes to keep you and your friends from getting your cutie mark connection, then I'm game!” Past Starlight said, as she ignited her horn. Snowfall was horrified that Starlight was fighting her own mentor. She turned to her present self. “Why are you fighting her? Shouldn’t you stop her?!” She pointed to her past self. She shook her head. “I was just like you in this timeline.” She replied, as she revealed her backstory. “Somehow, after my filly friend, Sunburst got his cutie mark, I didn’t make another friend, because I was worried that another mark might take them away too.” She bowed her head down, as Snowfall gasped. “So, I started a town to make ponies give up their cutie marks, but when Twilight and her friends interfered, that plan fell through. I returned to fight her to stop her friends from ever meeting, and I almost led Equestria to it’s total destruction.” “You tried to destroy Equestria?!” Snowfall asked, hushed. “That seems a little harsh!” “It was…” Starlight admitted. “Until, Twilight taught me how to make new friends.” The two watched the fight unfold, as Rainbow Dash got zapped and another time bubble opened above Twilight. “I don't know how important other ponies' friendships are to the future, but I can show you what the world is like without mine!” She said, as she tackled Starlight, and they got sucked in. “Come on, Snowfall.” Starlight said, as a time bubble opened above them. “Let’s get out of here.” They were swept up as the time bubble vanished. They arrived back into Snowfall’s timeline, and once again saw the snowy future. “But, nothing’s changed!” Snowfall said with worry, as she looked around. “Shouldn’t the future have changed?!” Starlight facehoofed angrily. “HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING?!” She bellowed as her voice became as loud as the Royal Canterlot voice. Snowfall backed away in fright, as she heard her voice, and was wondering what she would be taught. “I don’t know who’s side you’re on, but it isn’t mine! I wish I could say I was surprised.” Starlight said to her. “But every world Twilight has come back to is worse than the last. She and her friends are so important to Equestria! And so are me and you!” She touched her hoof, seriously. “Everything in the past affects the future, even the tiniest act. And what you're doing will lead here!” Starlight continued. “Everything is dark, snowy and desolate! And because of you, Snowfall Frost…my own double from the past, the future will now be a cold nightmare!!!” She ignited her horn, as icy transparent horses whizzed by both ponies, and swirled around nonstop. Snowfall couldn’t believe what she was seeing! They were really windigoes! And they were no myth! They were definitely real! She got more colder, and colder, and more frightened, as she saw their evil glow in their eyes. “Windigos?!” She asked in horror. “They aren't real! It's just a little filly's story!” “They are all too real, Snowfall!” Starlight said in her Royal voice! “…and your actions will allow them to return if this keeps up! And as as result, the future of Equestria will be bathed in a blanket of eternal snow!” She ignited her horn, as the windigoes got closer, and closer and they got colder and colder. Snowfall was more horrified at this horrible vision! Starlight calmed down. As her horn ignited less, and her eyes went from pure white to normal. “Is this what you want?” She asked, as they looked at the horrible vision of the future. “No!” Her double exclaimed in fear. “This isn’t at all what I want! I never meant for this to happen! I didn't understand! I didn't see how important Hearth's Warming Eve was, OR your future!” She pleaded, as she got on her knees. “Please, Starlight! I haven't cast the spell yet! Is there still time?!” She took her double’s legs, and shook them. Take my back to my own time! Just take my away from all this! I’m sorry!” She sobbed in her arms sadly. “If you must!” Starlight said, smiling as she ignited her horn, and zapped the windigoes, making them shriek as they disappeared! She cast her time bubble, as they were swept through, and were out of the horrible snowy future! As they vanished, the last thing they saw was a blinding white light enveloping them as they went back to the present! > Epilogue: Two Glimmers Together > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Starlight had recently shown her double, Snowfall the recent futures, and how bad the outcomes were, and Snowfall just couldn’t handle any of it, and asked her to return her back to her own time. When she did, a flash of white light blinded them completely. When the light disappeared, Snowfall opened her eyes, and saw that she was back in her own home. She even saw her cauldron still bubbling, and saw ponies marching outside. She was relieved that her time hadn’t changed at all. “There's still time!” She saw Starlight smiling at her, and happily shook her. “Starlight, there’s still time!” She shouted with glee. “That’s nice.” Starlight said dazed, as she was shook. “Now, can you let go of me?” She was let go, and she regained her senses, as she saw Snowfall about to leave. “Wait, Snowfall! What about your spell?” She asked, pointing to the bubbling pot. “Forget that!” Snowfall said happily. “We’re going Christmas shopping!” She grabbed her double by the arm. “Let’s go!” Starlight wailed, as she was pulled out into the town as Snowfall gleefully went shopping for the party. They then showed up at the party, with Starlight a little nervous, but Snowfall a little excited! She looked at her double. “What’s the matter, Starlight?” She asked. “You helped me out. You want to come to the party?” Starlight’s legs were shivering, and her expression was scared. She looked at Snowfall, who was smiling, and took a deep breath. “I can’t go into the party, Snowfall.” She said, pushing her in. “I’m gonna look silly. And, I don’t even have clothes on!” Snowfall giggled, and shook her head. “Yes, Starlight. Yes, you are.” She said, as she pointed to her. “But you’re going to be the most fashionable kind of silly there is. And, it's the least we can do. For friendship.” “But, what about me? I’m from the future, and I don’t want to wreck anything that might have happened in time.” Starlight continued, worried. “Relax, Starlight.” Snowfall reassured her. “Remember that I’ll be there with you every step of the way!” She stuck her hoof out. “So, what do you say? You wanna go to the party with me? For Friendship?” Starlight looked at her double smiling, and she smiled too. “For friendship.” She said, as she nodded. They made their way to the door and knocked on it. The door opened to reveal both Flutterholly and Merry, who were both shocked at their appearances. “Oh, my.” Merry said, stunned. “Snowfall Frost?” Flutterholly asked her, as she saw Starlight. She then got nervous. “Two of her?!” “Here we go.” Starlight said, nervously, ready to back out, but Snowfall put a hoof on her to reassure her that everything would be okay. Starlight took in a deep breath, and smiled as they turned back to them. “Actually, it’s a long story.” Snowfall explained, winking at her, as Starlight smiled. “We were hoping we weren’t too late for the party? We both got gifts.” She held out a few gifts to the ponies, as Snowdash, herself saw her and spat out her cider in shock. “Boss?!” Snowdash asked in surprise. “You’re her boss?!” Starlight whispered to her surprised as her. Snowfall nodded, as Starlight was trying to comprehend all this. “Huh- What?! How?! WHY?! I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!" Starlight immediately gasped. “I was wrong earlier, about Hearth's Warming Eve.” Snowfall confessed to her worker. “It's not all about singing and presents. The singing and presents are all about celebrating the ponies in our lives….” She looked at Starlight, who winked back at her, as she smiled. “The ponies we should listen to more often: our friends. And, someone special here helped me learn that.” Starlight smiled, as she blushed, while Snowfall handed her a gift. “Wow.” Snowdash said, as she unwrapped it. It appeared to be a bottle of purple soda. She turned to see the label, which was… “Dragon toenail?” She asked. Starlight facehoofed. “Really?!” She asked, as Snowfall blushed. “Uh…thanks.” Snowdash said, thanking her, as Starlight’s eyes widened. “I was in a hurry.” Snowfall quickly explained. “I'll do better next time.” But, Snowdash was actually excited at all this, that she whooped in glee. “Ha. Are You kidding?” She said. “No one's ever given me dragon toenail before! It's awesome!” Snowfall shot her a ‘told you she’d be happy’ look, as Starlight blushed. “I guess she really did like it.” Starlight said, as Snowfall nodded. “And, who is this pony?” Merry asked, pointing to Starlight. “She looks just like you.” “And, you both have the same Cutie Mark as well!” Flutterholly added. Starlight got nervous, as her face sweat, and her blood ran cold. “Oh, I forgot!” Snowfall said, pointing to her double. “This is Starlight Glimmer. She’s my sister. Her parents are from out of town. WAY out of town!” Starlight looked at everyone nervously, and just waved a hoof. “Hi.” She said nervously. “You have a twin sister?” Snowdash asked. “That’s super awesome!” “It sure is.” Snowfall said, turning to her. “Starlight, I want you to meet my worker, Snowdash, and her friends…Merry and Flutterholly.” Starlight shook each of their hooves as they smiled at her. “Glad to meet you, Darling.” Merry greeted her, as Flutterholly nodded. “We’re so happy to have you here.” The Fluttershy pony added. “I’ve never seen you here before!” Snowdash said excitedly. “Good to meet you.” “Good to meet you too.” Starlight said, as she took in a deep breath, and smiled. “Y’know, you three kind of remind me of a few ponies I know.” “Really?” Merry asked her. “Who are they?” “They’re from out of town, like me.” Starlight just put in. “Well, no matter what, it’s always good to have another pony join the party.” Flutterholly agreed. “I guess it is.” Starlight confidently said to her. “You bet it is!” Snowdash said. “Now, come get some eggnog!” She raced over to the beverages, as Snowfall put her hoof on her double’s shoulder. “So, that wasn’t so nerve wrecking, was it?” She asked her. And for the first time, Starlight smiled at her, and shook her head. “Not at all.” She said happily. “Not at all.” Snowfall smiled, and blushed, as she hugged her double so happily. “Thanks for all this. You saved me from making the biggest mistake of my life.” She said happily, as she cried tears of joy. “It’s nothing really.” Starlight started. “But it isn’t nothing…” Snowfall reminded her. “It’s everything!” Smiling at this, Starlight returned the hug. “Thank you.” She said hushed. “You’re welcome.” Starlight said happily, as her cutie mark glowed. She saw it, and she smiled. “I guess that was the problem I needed to solve after all.” “Huh?” Snowfall was confused. “Nothing.” Starlight quickly covered up. “Happy Hearth's Warming, Snowfall.” “You too, Starlight.” She said happily, as Snowdash came back with a few cups of eggnog, and Starlight happily took one, as the others did too, as they all sang. Happy, happy Hearth's Warming Eve! Hearth's Warming Eve is here once again! Starlight & her double and their friends all hung out and embraced the holiday altogether! Starlight’s friendship problem was solved, and Equestria was safe for the next generation of ponies. And, of all the Hearth's Warming Eve celebrations, Snowfall's and Starlight’s were the Hearth's Warmingest. After a while, the party guests were leaving, and both Glimmers were happy that they had a good time, celebrating the ponies they loved. The two were walking out happily. “You know, I had fun, Starlight!” Snowfall said happily. “And, I had an adventure!” Starlight agreed, as she looked at the moon. “But, I think it's time I went back to Ponyville…my time.” Snowfall was surprised to hear that, and hugged her hooves. "You’re leaving…already?” She cried out sadly and happily. “Please stay." She begged with puppy dog eyes. "Sorry, Snowfall." Starlight said as she patted her friend on the head. “But, a pony’s work is never done. I already miss my own friends in my time.” “I know.” Snowfall said sadly, as Starlight cast the time bubble. “But, Will I ever see you again?" She asked. She turned around and gave her double a gentle embrace, "Of course I will. Rest assured, I'll be back…someday." She started to leave. “Farewell, Snowfall Frost." She winked at her, and jumped through the bubble, as it vanished. Snowfall stood there blushing, and smiling as Starlight was gone through the time bubble. She waved her goodbye. “Bye, Starlight! I won't forget you!” She called out, happily as tears left her eyes. After that, she went back to her house to set up the decorations for the holiday. Happy, that she got to learn an important lesson with the help of her own double from the future. In Ponyville, in the present time, the Cutie Map opened the time bubble portal, and spat Starlight out onto the ground, as she landed with an audible thud! She groaned as she got up, as both Twilight and Spike ran in the room. “Starlight, Where have you been?” Spike asked worriedly. “Are you alright?” Twilight asked her. Starlight hugged her friends happily. “You wouldn’t believe where I was!” She said to them. “I was in Canterlot, and I met somepony who looked like me…that was Snowfall, and we took a trip through time!” “Oh, that's nice!” Rainbow Dash said, giggling. “Now, come out here! We’re having a little party!” She dashed out. “In a second!” Starlight continued, as both Twilight and Spike giggled. “I was seeing myself for the day, and I had a party with Snowdash --“ “You know, Twilight?” Spike said to his sister. “I think Starlight’s been in the snow too long!” Twilight giggled. “I think so too!” she said, rubbing his belly. “What? No, I didn’t!” Starlight said, blushing. “I wasn’t even outside.” “I’ll take your word for it!” Twilight said as she giggled. “We’re heading downstairs, and if you wanted to, you'd be welcome to join us for the party.” Starlight’s ears perked up. “Party? Is there a party?” She asked, confused. “Of course!” Rainbow told her. “Only one of the biggest ones of the year!” Starlight was about to come down, when she felt a chill down her spine. “Wait! What day is it?” She asked. Twilight giggled with Rainbow. “Starlight, you know what day it is!” She told her. “Look outside.” Starlight was confused at first, but did so. She saw snow falling down in the town, and right there and then…her mind clicked. She was surprised. “That’s right! I was so busy focusing on my friendship problem, that I almost forgot today was Hearthswarming Eve!” She said in realization. She turned to look for her teacher, but she wasn’t in the room. It didn’t take long for her to figure out where she was. She ran to the balcony upstairs and saw her mentor partying with her friends. Twilight saw her, and waved. “Hey, glad you could make it!” Twilight called out from downstairs. “Are you kidding?!” Starlight asked jokingly, as she smiled. “I wouldn’t miss this one for all of my friends!” “I knew you wouldn’t.” Twilight said, as she smiled. “Happy Hearth's Warming, Starlight.” “Happy Hearth's Warming, Twilight.” She said to her teacher, as she slid down the railing and took a mug of eggnog. “I’m home!” She cried out in glee, as she joined the others and started to sing a song.
