> EQG Series Finale (original) > by EverythingGuy > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Part 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flash Sentry has recently become tired of running into Equestrian magic and has started to long for the days before Sunset Shimmer arrived at Canterlot High (and also before he fell for the Pony Twilight Sparkle and watched the Human Twilight get into a relationship). When Flash was seven years old, an earthquake struck the town he lived in at the time, and the resulting damage fatally injured his mother, Spring Blossom. After she passed on, Flash’s father, Metal Gleam, had to find a good job to support both himself and Flash, and did, but unfortunately it was very far away. So Metal left his son in the care of his younger brother, Heat Flame, and Water Wave, Heat’s wife, while he moved across the country to support his family, sending part of his income back to them. And so Flash was raised by his aunt and uncle alongside his cousin First Base. Metal always makes sure to come and see Flash whenever he gets a chance. One day, a week before Halloween, Water and Heat announce to Flash and First Base that thanks to Metal’s income, they are moving to a larger house, and another family is going to be living with them there. Flash spends the next few weeks avoiding the Rainbooms as much as he can, raising a few eyebrows from them. The only other students he tells about his move are his friends Derpy Muffins and Micro Chips. When the family moves, Flash and Base are amazed. The house is four stories tall, and is the size of an apartment complex. It turns out that their housemates are Flash’s best friend from kindergarten to 6th grade, Comet Tail, Comet’s twin sister Moondancer (who Comet is protective of since he was born a half hour before her) and their parents. All the kids are delighted and embrace. Comet is the more crazy scheming silly one, while Moondancer, as we all know, is just as nerdy as Twilight. Comet, their older sister, and their parents nickname her “Moony”. Their personalities balance out, making them the perfect twin duo. That night, after dinner and hearing about stories the twins have from their school, Flash and Comet (who decided to be roommates) lay down in their room. When asked by Comet about what has happened since they were last together, Flash tells him all about what has been happening since they last met, the portal, the magic, his crush, etc. Comet is furious and wants to make Twilight and Sunset pay for breaking his best friend’s heart, but Flash tells him the better thing to do is leave it alone. Moondancer, having overheard the boys’ conversation, comes in and agrees with Flash, calming down her brother. She is instantly fascinated with the idea of powerful forces from another dimension, which means the multiverse is real. Flash agrees to show the twins the portal when he has a chance. He thinks that Moondancer and Twilight would hit it off great, while Comet, although he agrees, is reluctant to let it happen. Meanwhile, the Rainbooms have concerns of their own. Sunset Shimmer has been feeling homesick for Equestria and wishes to return, but she doesn’t know why. Twilight Sparkle has been feeling unhappy in her relationship with Timber Spruce, and wants to break it off, but is unsure how to do so. When Sunset brings it up during lunch period one day at school, all the girls start to wonder why Equestrian magic keeps showing up. One night during winter break, after transferring to their school at Comet’s prior suggestion, Flash takes Comet and Moondancer to CHS to see the statue portal. The twins are amazed. This prompts Comet to mention that there must be pony counterparts of them in Equestria. Flash comments he hopes the pony him has a better life then he does (Flash views himself as unimportant in the grand scheme of things). The next day, while First Base is visiting some of his friends, the trio go to the mall. Flash and Comet start debating about what the name of their dream TV show should be, while Moondancer walks further down and reunites with Micro and Derpy. The Rainbooms, having done their gift exchange, see this and introduce themselves to her and vice versa. As Flash predicted, Moondancer hits it off with Twilight very quickly. The boys come around the corner, and Comet is entranced by Sunset … before reeling in disgust, remembering she’s a talking horse in a teen girl’s body. Twilight and Moondancer correct him together that Sunset is a PONY, much to his annoyance. The trio have a quick private talk about the two smart girls’ new friendship. Comet is hesitant until Moondancer and Flash convince him that there won’t be any connection between them and Twilight’s boyfriend. Before Flash can reveal Timber’s name to Comet, he gets a call from his father. And before the Rainbooms can tell Moondancer who Twilight is dating, they have to go do something else. The two scientists agree to meet up a few days later. On Valentine’s Day (Saturday), Flash, Comet, and Base are walking through a park near their house. Comet tells the cousins about how an arrogant but smart boy who he leaves unnamed once briefly visited their school and interested several of the girls, including Moondancer. But when the boy flirted with multiple girls for a week, Comet had discovered he merely wanted to try it “the natural way” by imposing himself as the alpha male. Moondancer was so devastated and furious with this deception that she swore off romance for the rest of her life. The cousins promise to keep this a secret. Elsewhere, Moondancer tells Twilight and Sunset the same story, and she also leaves the boy anonymous. The girls promise to keep the secret too. On Flash’s 17th birthday, a week and a half before spring break, the two families invite Micro, Derpy, Cheese, Flash’s bandmates, and Moondancer’s friends Minuette, Twinkleshine, and Lemon Hearts. The Rainbooms, having been informed by Derpy, also show up, just as Flash, Comet, and Base start dancing like crazy while Cheese plays disco music, much to their amusement. Sunset catches Comet’s eye again, and Moondancer and Flash slap him, as he had previously requested. Flash gets to talking with the girls about his deceased mother, and tells them about how he once asked her why she and his father married. Spring had responded that when two people love each other enough to tolerate their differences and help each other be better people, they are a perfect match. Twilight finds this interesting. Later on, after the cake has been served and cut, the twins separately request to know who Twilight is dating so they can avoid him. Flash and Twilight separately say Timber’s name in unison, and the twins freeze in shock and horror. They then shout for everyone to go, and drag Flash upstairs. Derpy, Micro, and the Rainbooms are left dumbfounded while Minuette, Lemon Hearts, Twinkleshine, and Cheese leave. Inside Moondancer’s room, the twins revels that Timber is the boy who flirted with the girls at their school. Flash tries to diffuse the situation, but the others deny that Timber could ever change. After debating about Timber for a few minutes, Flash convinces the twins decides to just avoid him. But then, when they start to talk about the two Twilights, the trio come to a realization: if the Sunset that Flash has known is the Pony Sunset from Equestria, the HUMAN Sunset must be out there somewhere, and if the government finds out, and finds the portal, they will no doubt get it out hand, and it would be the end of the world. Comet suggests he and Flash go track down the Human Sunset. A few days later, Twilight, having gotten advice and support from her friends and family, finally decides to break up with Timber. When she meets with him at a restaurant and starts to talk to him though, he gets defensive, making her suspicious. Sunny Flare suddenly shows up and squirts Timber with hot liquid. She reveals to Twilight that Timber had flirted with Lemon Zest while on his life guard job. Twilight confronts Timber about this, but he denies even knowing Lemon or Sunny. Fed up, Twilight dumps him and leaves. A week later, the day before spring break, Flash and Comet prepare to head out. After instructing Moondancer and their friends to watch the city for government agents, they go to a gas station to fuel up and plan their move. While there, Comet spots Juniper Montage and Wallflower Blush talking. He tells them that if the universe ends, Twilight and Sunset are to blame, then runs back to the car before either can respond. With the gas tank full, the boys start their search in the neighboring city 20 miles away. The next day, Flash walks into a nearby forest to let off some steam, and meets a rich man called Mr. Sombra, who he and Comet help out from under a fallen tree. Pretending to thank them for helping him, Sombra buys the boys a hotel room. When Flash laments about the turn his life has taken, Sombra offers them a strange deal: A “week” of their most desired dreams in exchange for the memory of a week from Flash’s past. The boys politely decline this offer. Sombra gives them his number if they change their minds. He gives someone a call, saying sinisterly that they will accept. Twelve days later, the boys have searched the city and the internet from top to bottom, but there is no sign of the Human Sunset, not even clues to her whereabouts. Flash is almost ready to give up, until Comet suggests they take Sombra’s offer believing it will give them time to think of a new strategy. Flash agrees and calls Sombra. Arriving at his mansion, Sombra and his wife Chrysalis suggest that Flash erase a week from his infanthood from his mind, since it was so long ago, it will not impact him now. Flash agrees and, after a nod of encouragement from Comet, signs the contract. Sombra tells the boys to “have a nice week”. And the married couple laughs evilly. Sombra, Chrysalis, their mansion, and literally everything else disappears and the boys are sent screaming into a swirling vortex of flashing red, blue, and yellow lights. To Be Continued .... > Part 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- After a full minute of tumbling through swirling colored lights, the lights suddenly stop and Flash Sentry and Comet Tail land right in front of CHS, much to their confusion. They look around inside and spot Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Fluttershy, and Rarity amongst the crowds, but they don’t see Twilight Sparkle or Sunset Shimmer anywhere. Realizing the contract worked and thinking they are dreaming, the boys run off to have fun. After a whole day of doing whatever they want and getting away with it (nothing beyond a G rating) the boys awaken the next day, and head down to the beach. Once there, they roll down a sand hill, and go to a drink stand to get sodas. Comet makes a joke about them being the coolest guys around, and suddenly everyone around them agrees in unison, creeping the boys out. Flash, growing suspicious, makes a random remark about something outlandish and crazy, and everyone agrees with that too. The boys decide to leave, only to be blocked by a pair of tall men, who ask why they would want to when they have everything they want. This is the last straw for the boys, and they make a break for it. As they run off the beach, everything around them turns from bright and happy to hellish. Soon, the pair are fleeing from monsters, and eventually they burst through some sort of wall, and everything disintegrates. The boys find themselves in the middle of a burnt out field with nothing in sight for miles in all directions. After walking for about an hour, they come across what appears to be the charred remains of a school. They realize, to their horror, that this is the remains of their own school, and run to where their house is. Or was. They find it empty and abandoned, with their families nowhere to be seen. Suddenly, something shoots past in the sky above them. Small, metallic, ball-shaped objects drop from the sky, and sleeping gas shoot out from the metal balls, causing the boys to pass out. When they wake up, they are in a medical-era cage on wheels, being pulled by their friends Micro Chips and Derpy Muffins, who claim to have believed Comet was dead and do not recognize Flash at all. The pair are being forced to pull the carriage by two figures in complete black, who keep whipping them if they stop. When Flash asks where they are going, Derpy replies he and Comet are being brought to “mayor” Sombra. As they pass through Canterlot, the boys are horrified to see that the city is overrun with magical horrors (think of Gravity Falls Weirdmageddon for a comparison). Real humans are a rarer sight, and the ones that are seen are all slaves to the magic creations. When they reach the city center, Flash and Comet are brought into the building they knew as the Mayor’s office, where they see Sombra and Chrysalis waiting for them. Sombra explains that the boys are very much awake, and that their contract erased the week Flash was born from actual history. In this alternate reality, Flash never existed or proved to Vice Principal Luna that Pony Twilight didn’t wreck the gym, and therefore, Sunset used Twilight’s crown to flood the human world with Equestrian magic, which quickly grew well beyond her control. Sombra and Chrysalis quickly gained control by taking much of the unleashed magic, and as such, not only were they given control on the city, but Celestia and Luna were forced to sign over Canterlot High to them too. When the week ends, Flash and Comet will cease to exist. The boys deduce that the magic used in the contract must be Equestrian in origin. Flash has a hard time believing that him never being born could have caused all of this to happen due to his unimportant self-viewing, but he doesn't have time to thought process it all. He and Comet escape with Derpy and Micro, who agree to help after Flash proves he knows them by telling them things he knows about them. Showing them the contract, Derpy and Micro help the boys find a hidden exit clause, the effects of the contract can be reversed if Flash shares "true love's kiss" with someone he loves romantically. Flash and Comet balk at this. They explain to the other two everything that happened in the normal reality, and firmly state there is no way Twilight would ever like Flash that way, let alone kiss him. Derpy encourages Flash to try anyway, as it is the only way for them all to get their lives back. The foursome follow some distant fleeing figures and come across the resistance, a group of many humans fighting back against Sombra, Chrysalis, and their followers. Among the resistance are now former Principal and VP Celestia and Luna, many of the former students of CHS, the boys' school, and Crystal Prep, Comet's older sister Coffee Cup, and, much to the boys' huge surprise, Flash's mother Spring Blossom and the Human Sunset Shimmer. Leading the resistance are the alternate Rainbooms (except Pony Sunset, of course). Coffee Cup embraces Comet tearfully, believing he was dead, just like Micro and Derpy. Flash, meanwhile, is overwhelmed at the sight of his mother, and collapses. When Flash comes to, he explains who they is to Coffee. She reveals that magic users attacked her and Comet’s family two years before, leaving her the only survivor. Comet is devastated that Moondancer and their parents are dead. Seeing that he, Comet, Micro, and Derpy need fight training, Flash asks Twilight (who has a scar across her face) to train them with her friends, and Twilight agrees. Immediately after Flash leaves Twilight’s hut, which she shares with her dog Spike and two other girls, he is approached by the alternate Timber Spruce, who threatens him to stay away from Twilight. Flash simply says he will and walks away. Later on, Flash and Comet approach Human Sunset and after telling her who they are, ask her where she was. She reveals to them that when the Pony Sunset first opened the portal to the human dimension and came through, she was displaced from her home far out into the world of Equestria in a unicorn body. She managed to get back by following the trails of magic caused by the apocalypse, which spilled into Equestria. Having finally found their answer, the boys vow to get her home once they have fixed reality. At that point, the Human Starlight Glimmer, Sunset’s best friend who was with her the day she vanished, joins them, and tells the boys to not worry about Timber. The girls explain that, just like in the normal reality, Twilight and Timber used to be in a relationship, but one night, during a fight with Sombra and Chrysalis’ forces, Timber betrayed Twilight by revealing her hiding ambush position in a tree to save himself, resulting in her scar from Chrysalis. Over the next five days, while training with Twilight, Sunset, Starlight, and the rest in preparation for an ambush on Sombra and Chrysalis, Flash and Comet bond with the former two respectively, but Flash stops short of making a move, still reluctant. Sunset, Starlight, and Spike encourage Flash to keep pursuing Twilight. At one point, Flash talks to Spring Blossom and learns that her husband, his father Metal Gleam, had signed a contract with the evil couple to save her life, but in exchange for his own. When she sees his and Comet’s contract, Spring deduces that Flash is her son. She also encourages him to pursue Twilight, insisting that he is more important than he thinks. Flash doesn’t seem to agree. Meanwhile, Sombra plans to use a technique involving a dummy of himself, his pet bull Tirek, and Chrysalis’ enlarged insect army, to lure Flash and Comet out and catch the resistance. The night of the ambush, with only hours left before he and Comet fade away, Flash, at the others’ insistence, volunteers to help Twilight watch for the approaching enemy. Unfortunately, they are followed by Timber, who attempts to claim that Flash is a spy for Sombra, having spied on him and Comet the whole time. Gloriosa Daisy shows up, apologizes to the pair, and forcibly man-handles her coward brother out of sight. However, his claims about Flash being the cause of all this misery make Twilight uneasy, and she turns hostile toward Flash, who does his best to calm her down. The rest of the resistance is captured by Chrysalis and her bugs, while the Rainbooms and Flash and Comet’s group escape. The boys are forced to reveal the truth about their contract to the Rainbooms. Derpy insists that Flash kiss Twilight, but Flash refuses, saying it won’t fix anything. Twilight gets incredibly angry and accuses Flash and Comet of making things up to get to her, but this makes Flash lash out at her, saying that she isn’t the one who is completely unimportant; he is. This startles Twilight into silence and she is instantly remorseful, but Flash turns and walks away with Comet, Derpy, and Micro, deciding to “leave the hero’s work to the real heroes”. Spring, Sunset, Starlight, and Coffee go after Flash and his group while Twilight and the others go to the city to save the resistance. Flash and Comet get into a brief physical squabble over signing the contract in the first place, leading Starlight to demand why Flash signed it if he already had a family and best friend. Flash retorts that he thought he didn't matter. The group then hears about a deal Sombra offers to the city, saying if they bring Flash and Comet to him, all their dreams will come true. Flash decides to turn them both in. Spring is hesitant, but Flash assures her he will be fine. Before heading to Sombra and Chrysalis’ building, Flash asks Sunset for the name of her brother, who like Starlight, was also present when she got sucked into Equestria. Sunset replies that his name was Sunburst. Flash turns Comet and himself in, and Sombra is forced to grant Flash the wish, which he uses to free Comet, the Rainbooms, the rest of the resistance, and all the other enslaved humans. However, when Flash is led to the basement and chained up, he sees that Twilight is captured, since, as Chrysalis puts it, she is “no ordinary human”. Sombra claims that the Timber of the normal reality asked him to get Flash to sign the contract, which Flash scoffs at. Twilight thanks Flash for his brave deed, and he somberly responds that he wasn't there for her when Timber betrayed her. Twilight smiles and says he’s here now. Hiding inside delivery carts, Comet, Micro, Derpy, Spring, the Rainbooms, and the rest of the resistance storm the castle. In the ensuing battle, Chrysalis’ army is defeated while Twilight and Flash escape and capture the evil couple. As the sun rises, Flash and Comet begin to fade from existence. The two hold hands as they fade, Spring holds Flash’s other hand, and Coffee holds Comet’s other hand. Flash declares that he got to spend the week with Comet, and he got to see his mother again, but the best part was that he got to fall in love with Twilight all over again even if she will never like him the same way, and for him, that’s good enough. Twilight is touched by Flash’s selflessness, and she kisses him just before the boys fully disappear. The contract, which the boys had kept with them the entire week, suddenly floats upward on its own and starts glowing, to the evil couple’s horror. It then disintegrates, and the alternate reality is erased, making everyone disappear. Flash and Comet wake up in Sombra and Chrysalis’ mansion in the normal reality. They sprint outside and flee down the road, only stopping when they find Flash’s car. Comet calls Moondancer and Cheese Sandwich, while Flash calls his cousin First Base. When they are sure everything is back to normal, boys take a moment to calm themselves and then start off again to track down Starlight and Sunburst. To Be Concluded …. > Part 3 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Somewhere in Canterlot City, the Rainbooms feel an enormous magical disturbance they have never felt before happening somewhere outside the city, and then feel it again seven minutes later, leaving them confused and worried. Elsewhere, Timber Spruce is talking very nervously to someone on his phone while being watched from a distance by Moondancer. Meanwhile, Flash Sentry is trying to calm down his best friend Comet Tail, who is raging about Timber supposedly getting them nearly wiped from existence with Sombra’s contract. Comet insists that Timber is enough of a jerk to commit such an act while Flash counters that he isn’t a monster, he’s a coward. Eventually, the boys find the apartment where Starlight Glimmer (back in the alternate reality) had told them she lived in. When they tell her they know where Sunset Shimmer is, Starlight (normal reality) is reluctant at first, but eventually relents. Together, the three go to the secluded cabin where Sunset's brother, Sunburst, lives. Starlight explains to the boys that when Sunset literally vanished into thin air right in front of them, Sunburst, in a pit of despair, threw himself into finding out what happened to her, hoping to get her back someday. Unfortunately, his constant desperate search took a toll on him, and his parents and Starlight are the only ones he talks to now. Knocking on his door, Sunburst is heard from inside sounding very out of it, but when Comet says that they know where his sister is, he flings the door open. After Sunburst gets cleaned up, Flash, Comet, and Starlight join him in his “bunker”, which is wall to wall with papers. When the duo describe Equestria, the Pony Sunset, the magic leak, and how they found out where the Human Sunset is, they expect the other two to just laugh at them. Starlight does at first, but Sunburst does not, which makes her stop. He has heard about the magic occurrences since they started and suspected it had something to do with Sunset’s disappearance. After debating about it, the foursome decide to “borrow” the journal from Pony Sunset and contact Pony Twilight Sparkle. Knowing they can’t take Flash’s car if they don’t want to get recognized and caught, they take Starlight’s car instead, since neither Starlight nor Sunburst has ever been to Canterlot before. The boys leave Flash’s car in a parking garage in Canterlot, and join their new friends in Starlight’s car. They arrive at Sunset’s apartment at a half hour past midnight. Comet and Sunburst sneak in through the window while Flash watches for coming people. To the two’s dismay, it’s a slumber party, and they have to sneak across the room without stepping on the Rainbooms or waking them up. Twilight’s dog Spike is also there sleeping, so they have to be especially careful when they get close to him. Comet manages to reach the journal and grabs it. He and Sunburst slip back across the room and out the window, and they and Flash run back to the car, and Starlight punches the gas. They leave her car at the parking garage right next to Flash’s car and go to a nearby restaurant. There, they sit down and Flash grabs a pen. He opens the journal to the nearest blank page and after a bit of consulting with his friends, he writes this: Dear Princess Twilight, It’s me Sunset Shimmer. Sorry if you’re busy at the moment, but there’s something I’ve been thinking about recently that’s got me worried. You know how everyone in Equestria has a counterpart here in this world? Well, I’M from Equestria, so that must mean I do too. I’ve been looking, but I can’t find the human me anywhere. This may sound like a strange request, but could you search Equestria? I can’t help but wonder if maybe, just maybe, I displaced the human me. I know it’s a stretch, but could you please look? Because if magic keeps leaking into this world for too long, I fear for the stability of the multiverse. The group waits for a few minutes, but no answer comes. Flash determines that Pony Twilight must either be busy, sleeping, or she just doesn’t have her book with her at the moment. The four go back up to Flash and Starlight’s cars to get some sleep. Meanwhile, at Sunset’s apartment, Pinkie Pie wakes up to get a drink of water and doesn’t see the journal is gone. The next morning, Flash, Comet, Starlight, and Sunburst ditch the parking garage, knowing the Rainbooms will no doubt come looking for the journal, which they put into a backpack that Sunburst brought along to keep it safe. The group takes a bus to the other end of the city, and halfway to their destination, Pony Twilight responds: This is serious, Sunset. I can’t believe I overlooked this for so long. I’m organizing a search right now. I’m going have teams of royal guards searching every corner of Equestria and a few searching beyond. Although, there is one thing I’m worried about. You’ve made so many friends at Canterlot High. What if you have to leave them all behind? Flash, still posing as Sunset, writes back: If that’s the case, I guess I’ll have no choice. Elsewhere, the Rainbooms have woken up and discovered the journal is missing, and Twilight and Sunset are panicking. The girls call everyone they know, and start a massive search party. When Derpy Muffins and Micro Chips get informed, the former calls Flash, but he lets it go to voicemail. When Sunset calls Wallflower Blush, she finds out what Comet had told the latter and Juniper Montage, making her both annoyed and suspicious. Meanwhile, Sombra and Chrysalis, furious that the two escaped their contract and alternate reality, have told the police that Flash and Comet are dangerous, and recruit ex-principal Cinch and the Dazzlings to help them hunt down the boys. They cross paths with them, Starlight, and Sunburst in a food mall, where the foursome have just seen a report of the boys on TV. Pursued by the rich couple, Cinch, two police officers, and three security guards, the group flees to the roof, but they are stuck with nowhere to go. Except one way: the roof of the parking garage right next to the mall, which is slightly lower, but about 20 feet out. Flash gives Starlight the backpack, knowing she and Sunburst need the journal more than he and Comet do. Sunburst and Starlight jump first and reach the roof of the garage while Flash and Comet hold back the door. The boys then race for the edge and jump, just reaching the edge of the first floor down from the top. The other two help them up, and the four race down the stair together, only for the Dazzlings to be waiting for them at the bottom with four other officers. Flash allows himself to be captured so the others can escape, much to Comet's devastation. Unbeknowst to them, Cheese Sandwich sees the entire thing and can only watch as the police take Flash away. That evening, the Rainbooms go to the amusement park where Applejack and Rarity worked, having supposedly gotten texted by Gloriosa Daisy that she found the journal and to bring their necklaces. Gloriosa is there, but she is there to meet up with Timber, and does not remember texting them, which greatly confuses them all. Suddenly, Sombra, Chrysalis, Cinch, and the Dazzlings ambush the girls. Physically outmatched, the Rainbooms' necklaces are ripped from their necks by the "Meanie Team" as Pinkie calls them. Just then, Timber runs in yelling with his arm raised, attracting everyone's attention ... and then he immediately runs away again screaming like a little kid. The Meanie Team pay this no mind, and Sombra reveals that Timber had set up this meeting so they could get the necklaces. But then he notices the journal isn't with them. Realizing that Starlight, Sunburst, and Comet must have it in the backpack, the meanie team runs off, and since the girls' powers went with their necklaces, Rainbow Dash can't chase after them. The Rainbooms and Gloriosa storm outside to confront Timber, who is pathetically hiding behind a trash can. Twilight deduces that he set this up thinking that if he could save them, she would instantly get back with him. Just then, Moondancer and her friends Minuette, Twinkleshine, and Lemon Heart show up, joined by Sour Sweet, Sunny Flare, Sugarcoat, Lemon Zest, and Indigo Zap, who they met the day before. Having never even heard of her before, Gloriosa is horrified when Moondancer tells her about Timber's actions at her and Comet's school, and Twilight and Sunset are horrified to learn that Timber was the boy Moondancer was talking about, as well are the other girls once they are fully informed. When Moondancer demands to know what he did to Flash and Comet, Timber begrudgingly admits that he discovered Sombra and Chrysalis through an online ad and asked them to get rid of Flash, thinking Twilight would come right back to him, but he only asked for Flash to be sent far away. Nonetheless, all the girls are enraged with his actions and declare him a coward. Timber gets mad at his sister for not siding with him, claiming that Flash is a loser. That gets him slapped by her, Moondancer, Lemon Zest, Sunny, Sunset, and Twilight, who declares that Flash is NOT a loser. After Gloriosa man-handles Timber out of sight, Moondancer reveals to the Rainbooms what Flash and Comet are up to, and they are shocked. Twilight is wondering how they could have overlooked this for so long, while Sunset is merely terrified at whatever damage she could have done to her counterpart by stealing her identity. But the boys have not responded to any calls or texts in the last 2 days, worrying the girls. At that moment, Cheese, Micro, and Derpy run up. Cheese informs them of what he saw happen earlier and together, the group sets out to find them. On the way, three are informed of Timber’s actions and are enraged like the rest. Twilight calls her brother Shining Armor, who is a police officer, for help, and she calls Principal Cadence. She tells the Shadowbolts they can leave, but they want to help her, and to be proper friends to her after her constant mistreatment back in Crystal Prep. Flash is taken from police custody by Sombra and Chrysalis and tied to a chair in their basement. They put Timber on their computer screen, and he confirms his actions to Flash, who is bewildered. He tells Timber that he had nothing to do with Twilight feeling unhappy with her relationship. Flash also states that Timber should be happy that he is important, while he is not, which stuns Timber. As he hangs up, Timber looks remorseful. Later that night, Comet, Starlight, and Sunburst are hiding in an old abandoned warehouse, where they are found by the Rainbooms, Shadowbolts, the Principals, and Moondancer’s group, as well as Wallflower and Juniper Montage. Comet crushes his twin and friends in tearful hugs. Starlight, enraged at the sight of Sunset, runs out and tackles her, and everyone else pulls her off, including Sunburst. When Sunset sees him, she freezes in shock. Memories of her family come flooding back and she falls to the ground, weeping. She now understands why she has been feeling homesick for Equestria, she misses her family. Sunburst and Starlight, who has calmed down, tell everyone present their story of the Human Sunset's vanishing, and Sunset resolves to set things right, even if it means leaving all her friends behind. Seeing this, Comet suddenly turns and starts walking away. Sunburst asks where he's going, and he responds "to save my best bud." Starlight refuses to let him go, since he and Flash are the ones who helped them have a chance at saving Human Sunset. Together, Moondancer, Cheese, Micro, Derpy and the Rainbooms go with him, while the rest go to CHS to wait for Princess Twilight, if she does show up. Flash has escaped the ropes of his chair using the fighting techniques he was taught in the alternate reality, but is still locked in the basement. Comet and the others show up, break in (despite Twilight and Moondancer's protests), and unlock the door. Flash hugs Comet, Cheese, Derpy, and Micro, and is immensely relived to see the rest are back to normal. Flash then determines the Rainbooms can take care of matters from here and tries to leave with Comet, only for Twilight to block them. Outside, she pulls Flash aside and explains how Timber had flirted with Lemon Zest and refused to admit it, and then double-crossed her and the others in an attempt to get her back. They both agree that both actions were incredibly stupid for someone who likes nerd stuff. Twilight then makes it clear to Flash that he and Comet aren’t going anywhere. At that moment, Pony Twilight responds that she has found Human Sunset, to Sunburst and Starlight’s delight. The group rushes to CHS. That evening, Pony Twilight and Dragon Spike arrive with Human Sunset, who looks quite similar to Pony Sunset in her human form, except she has pigtails, spiky boots, and dark eyeliner. Pony Twilight has already explained everything to her. Human Sunset (who catches Comet's eye) has a tearful reunion with Sunburst and Starlight, and then furiously pounces on Pony Sunset, accusing her of ruining her life. Pony Sunset does not deny this at all, since it was her quest for power that led her to the human world in the first place. When informed by Moondancer that Flash and Comet were the ones writing to her, Pony Twilight gives them the scolding look of an annoyed princess. Human Sunset, however, thanks them for helping her get home. Pony Twilight determines that they must retrieve the necklaces before sealing the portal and any others. That night, the “meanie team” kidnap both Spikes and Flash, Comet and Human Sunset pursue in Flash’s car. Reaching the beach, they are momentarily blocked by the Dazzlings, but Sunburst, Juniper, Wallflower, and Starlight show up and subdue them, allowing the three to reach the boat that Sombra, Chrysalis, and Cinch have boarded. A little ways out to sea, the teens are spotted. Using their fighting moves, the boys manage to retrieve all the necklaces except Pony Sunset's before they are knocked overboard. The Spikes escape from their cage and topple a pile of crates, allowing Sunset to seize the necklace from Chrysalis and leap overboard just in time, with the Spikes following. They get on a lifeboat Sunset had released and pull the unconscious boys onto it. Back on the beach, the police show up to arrest the meanie team, except the Dazzlings, who Pony Twilight and Sunset say they will take care of. The lifeboat washes ashore, both Spikes reunite with their respective Twilights, and Human Sunset, who briefly gained Pony Sunset's mind reading power using her necklace, tells the girls that Flash restored the normal reality by True Love's kiss, shocking everyone else, Human Twilight most of all. Flash has a dream where he sees his mother Spring Blossom, who tells him to do what his heart says is right. The next morning, with Sombra, Chrysalis, and Cinch taken away to prison and the Dazzlings upended, Flash and Comet wake up. When Human Twilight tells Flash she knows he kissed her in the other reality, he panics before she ensures him it is fine. Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna offer Human Sunset an independent study course to ensure she graduates only one year late, and Human Twilight and Moondancer offer to help. Human Sunset accepts. Pony Sunset determines it's time for her to return to Equestria permanently, and Pinkie immediately begins to plan her farewell party. Gloriosa shows up with Timber, who apologizes to the boys for almost wiping them from existence and to the girls, particularly Human Twilight, for the ambush. Comet and Flash give him an offscreen kick in the stomach and punch in the face respectively as a warning, and then Flash gives Timber a helpful piece of advice that he accepts: If he really wants a girl to like him, don't use her to show off. The Dazzlings are taken back to Equestria and imprisoned in Tartarus. The next day, during Pony Sunset's farewell party, the two Sunsets and the two Twilights have a long talk, and Human Sunset forgives her counterpart. Finally, it is time. In Equestria, Cadence and the former royal sisters stand ready to help Twilight seal all connections between the two dimensions, while in the human world, Pony Twilight and Sunset stand in front of the portal facing all their human friends. The two unicorns share a final hug with the Rainbooms, before turning to Flash. Pony Sunset apologizes for her actions while they were dating, and Pony Twilight tells him to not sell himself short ever again. Comet briefly asks about his, Moondancer, and Flash's own counterparts, and Pony Twilight responds that she is friends with the former, and then Human Sunset the latter is a royal guard, immensely exciting the boys. When Pony Twilight asks I’m how she knows, Human Sunset replies that Pony Flash was the first guard who had located and brought her to the Crystal Empire to be transported to Canterlot. Then the two ponies turn to their counterparts. Human Sunset promises to befriend the others without replacing Pony Sunset, and Human Twilight promises Pony Twilight she will not jump into a relationship so quickly next time she meets another "nerd", earning a good laugh from them and everyone else. With those final promises, the two ponies say their goodbyes and step back through the portal, and 12 seconds later, a light is seen glowing, and then shrinking. The portal (along with any others) is sealed for good. > Epilogue > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- A few weeks later, just before summer break, Flash, having transferred back to CHS, is sitting on a bench on the top of a viewpoint overlooking the city with his father Metal Gleam, who has come to visit for the next month and a half. Flash is unsure if he should ask Twilight to the end of junior year dance, since she broke up with Timber rather recently, or even if he should go to the dance at all. Metal tells his son to not let his unimportant self viewing hold him back, especially after having it proven false. Flash points out that anyone else could have proven Pony Twilight didn't wreck the Fall Formal decorations, and a voice behind them responds that no one else DID. The father and son turn to see Twilight standing behind them, having been told where they were by Comet and Moondancer and rode up on her bike. She asks for a moment with Flash. Metal, instantly understanding, stand up and gives his son a pat on the back. Before walking off to the car, he asks Twilight to not hurt Flash, and she assures him she won't. Twilight sits next to Flash and, having overheard him and his father talking, asks why he doesn't want to go to the dance. Flash responds that it feels weird, with Pony Sunset now gone and the world completely back to normal with all the Equestrian magic gone from the human dimension, including the girls' magic and Spike's speech, to which Twilight agrees. He asks if she misses her, and Twilight says she does, as do the rest of the Rainbooms, but she has lots of great memories to look back on. She mentions that Human Sunset is coming along immensely well in her independent studies, and has reunited with her and Sunburst's parents. Twilight asks Flash to go with her to the dance, shocking the guitar player. He says that there are plenty of better looking guys in the school, and she responds that she doesn't care. She explains that she has been thinking about he told her his mother had told him about her definition of a "perfect couple", and has realized something: She and Timber have too much in common, so he can't help her be a better person. She understands love much better now than when she first transferred to CHS. She then asks Flash if he would come with her somewhere else instead, confusing him. The night of the dance, Flash and Comet are about to head out to pick up their dates. Flash is dressed in a blue tuxedo, and consults his family about his appearance. Water Wave and Heat Flame give him thumbs-ups, First Base says he looks like a secret agent (which earns playful eye rolls from everyone), and Metal simply nods and, with a smile, says Flash looks perfect. Comet is dressed in a similar tux to Flash, except his is red. His family approves of it as well. Moondancer and the twins' older sister Coffee Cup, who has come home from college for the summer, are going with the boys to make sure they don't do anything foolish (Comet is annoyed, but understands). Just before the four leave, Metal says Twilight "must be quite something", and Flash responds that she's more than something. She is everything. After picking up Sunset from Luna and Celestia's house (where she is staying for her independent course), they arrive at Twilight's house, where Flash encounters her parents, Twilight Velvet and Night Light, Principal Cadence of Crystal Prep, and Cadence's fiancé, Twilight's brother Shining Armor, who he finds intimidating. Twilight and Cadence briefly scold Shining before the former heads out. Shining gives two water guns to Moondancer and Coffee, telling them to squirt if they see any kisses. The group arrives at CHS and they go up to the roof of the school, where they can hear the music below. As the two couples start to dance, the sisters watch them with their water guns. Flash and Twilight get to talking about their past, and Flash makes it clear he likes Twilight for herself, and doesn’t want her to be anyone else. Twilight is touched, and makes her move. She kisses him. Everyone else is stunned, Flash most of all. This earns them a water squirt from the sisters, but the boys look at each other and say “worth it”, making all the girls giggle. A little later, Twilight and Flash are sitting on a bench across from the school. Flash asks if Twilight really does want to date him, and she responds yes she does. Flash jokily asks if she has figured out that he is a better match for her than Timber, earning him a playful smack on the back of his head. Twilight then apologizes for not realizing it sooner, but Flash simply tells her to not dwell on it, and they share another kiss. Sunset, watching with the rest of the Rainbooms, Derpy, Micro, and the three siblings from 20 feet away, remarks that friendship really IS magic, and Twilight replies that yes it is. The End
