Megan isn't sure if she still wants to come back to Equestria

Although Megan Williams has been happy to return to a land that she hasn't seen in thousands of years, she is starting to feel as if she has overstayed her return and is no longer needed to be there. Despite adapting to what has changed, she still feels as if she is a stranger in some way while reminiscing about the past. Will Twilight Sparkle be able to help her still feel relevant and get her to continue coming back to Equestria or is this end for her? This is a crossover between G1 and G4.

Getting her dues

Megan Williams decided to use the portal to enter Equestria only to notice Twilight Sparkle and Spike relaxing by a tree. After she approached them, she then sat down and started to say to both of them, "Did you ever think that I may have overstayed my welcome in coming back to Equestria?"

"Why would you say something like that?" responded Twilight.

"I'm just starting to think that maybe my time coming back here has ran out and that I need to move on with my normal life." replied Megan.

Spike then asked, "What do you mean by that?"

Megan answered back with, "I'm starting to feel that I'm just like a Digidestined or Tamer who has long served my purpose and now feel that I'm no longer need to be back here."

Twilight then asked, "Why do you feel that you need a purpose to be here?"

Megan then said, "As much as I enjoy coming back here, I sort of feel as if I just agreed to do this voluntarily. When I first came here, it was to save ponies from being roped to a chariot that would bring eternal darkness. Since then, different ponies have taken me back to help with other adventures, and I ended up becoming Ponyland's savior. These days I'm just starting to feel as if I'm no longer relevant to any of you ponies as there haven't been any adventures ever since my return."

"Megan, you don't always have to return here for adventures to show that you are still relevant to us. Just being back can be your purpose. In reality, you don't have anything else to prove, especially with everything you have already done. Overall, you're just as important now as you were then." replied Twilight.

"Twilight, what exactly makes me still important today, especially since what I did was thousands of years ago from your perspective?" asked Megan.

Twilight then said, "You should know that you were this world's original hero back when this was all vast open space known as Ponyland that should be worth something."

Megan then responded with, "Although that might be true, it still didn't change the fact that I only came here because Firefly just took me the moment she saw me. She didn't even state why she came to me in the first place, as if she took whoever she saw at first sight."

Spike weighed in by saying, "If not for that, you wouldn't have become Ponyland's savior, plus you probably wouldn't have even known about us at all."

Megan then said, "That's another thing. If you didn't find the book about me, would you have even known about my existence?"

Twilight then answered, "Perhaps I was meant to find that book, especially since I'm a descendant of one of the ponies you knew. For some reason, I almost felt as if I was drawn to that book and had to meet you as well as you bring you back. If I didn't find it, then you would have never come back here, and probably feel as if your time here was nothing more than an ancient memory."

Megan then asked, "Since both Celestia and Luna wanted me to return, then why didn't they just do so sooner rather than wait thousands of years as if they almost forgot about me?"

"It's not as if they forgot about you on purpose, they were just trying to figure out when it was finally the right time to do so. However, I will admit it was wrong that they hid that book. However, when I found it, that's what started to make them mention you once again. Nonetheless, having you return was something that they really wanted no matter how long that they had to wait. Still, you have to remember that when they first became the rulers of Equestria, they were afraid of an invasion coming from either side, and they were concerned that you might have been caught in the crossfire." replied Twilight.

Megan then mentioned, "Yeah you're right, because it was nice of them to put up a stained-glass window of me next to with the other princesses and heroes back at the castle."

Spike said, "For what you did to help save what was once Ponyland, you deserved it."

Megan then said, "Still it would have been nice if I saw them grow up, earn their cutie marks, become alicorns, and even witness their coronations."

Twilight said back, "It's not as if they blame you for missing out on any of that. They still think of you as a close friend to them even to this day, especially with how you helped Luna earn her forgiveness after making her open apology to what she did when she was Nightmare Moon. Also, keep in mind that when they became alicorns, they were actually thinking about you and everything you did to help achieve unity. Overall, it was better for them to see you again late than never."

Megan then thought, "Another thing is that it was nice to appear at the School of Friendship and give a lecture about what I did when I originally came to Ponyland. Almost every student had questions to ask me. Even Rainbow Dash was shocked to see Daring Do ask some questions as if she saw me as someone important."

Twilight answered back with, "I will make sure that all history classes will include you so that even future generations will know who you are, because you don't deserve to be forgotten."

Spike added in with, "If not for you, then Paradise Estate wouldn't have been landmarked and reused for its original purpose as a daycare center."

Megan then sighed and said, "That might be true, but before that it must been humiliating to find me seeking refuge in there because it was one of the few remnants of Ponyland still around. However, I will admit that you had the right idea of having Fluttershy go in there and help get me out of there. I did originally think that it was Posey due to having such a similar look to hear about how her ancestor used to be its caretaker, and that really expressed a lot of interest in her. Also, the same story did express interest with the mayor, which lead to having it landmarked after listening to all of that."

"Nonetheless, it got Paradise Estate saved, and that's what matters." replied Twilight.

"I do remember Rarity talking about making a clothing line that would involve me when she first met me, and then I finally saw it she invited to her store when it was first unveiled. She likes to call it "The Megan Williams Collection" and it features just about every type of clothing I wore when I was here last time. Although it was nice to include the look, I always liked such as being a cowgirl, the palates, or even the princess dress I once wore, though it would have been nice if those frilly overalls and with the shirt I wore under it weren't part of that. However, I will admit that it did look good on some of the fillies. I did remember seeing Apple Bloom wearing it while Applejack was wearing my cowgirl look as if she could have almost passed for what I would have looked like if I became a pony like you. Rarity even managed to design a few other things, such as my winter outfit and nightgown, as well as even create wing warmers for any pegasi or alicorns in that matter who wish to use them that were similar to the pair I once gave Surprise when she was feeling very cold one time." said Megan.

"Rarity really did think about you when she made all of that over at her boutique." said Twilight.

Megan then thought, "Maybe it's just that I feel like Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender when he was woken up from the iceberg and was shocked to realize how much everything around him had changed even though he barely aged himself despite being over a century old."

"Don't things change back where you live?" asked Twilight.

"They do, but at least I'm there to notice those said changes. However, over here it's been thousands of years, and I wasn't here to witness any of that, plus I don't even look thousands of years old." replied Megan.

Twilight then said, "Even if the ponies you knew back then didn't sacrifice themselves in trying to stop Grogar, you still wouldn't see them again as they would have died of natural causes long ago."

"That might be true Twilight, but I still wish I could have been there to help them at that time. To them, I was sort of a mother due to how much I cared for them when I used to be there. Then again, I was never sure if they ever cared for me." said Megan.

"Megan, don't take this the wrong way, but I believed that they cared so much for you, that they wanted you to live rather than die. In other words, they would never ask for you to make a sacrifice for them. They knew that you weren't from around here, and that if you died, your death would be very hard for either Danny or Molly to explain to your parents. It's not as if they can just say that their older sister went off to some secret world and never came back alive." replied Twilight.

Megan then thought, "I guess what you're saying is that sometimes the choices that might seem wrong in the short run can be right in the long run."

Twilight then answered, "That is exactly what I mean."

After understanding all of what was just said, Megan started to realize that maybe she is still relevant to the ponies of the present.

Megan's first adventure

View Online

Out of interest, Twilight and Megan started to share what it was like becoming heroes for the first time.

"It would be nice to know why and how you became Ponyland's savior in the first place." thought Twilight.

"Isn't that what the book about me is for?" asked Megan

Twilight then said, "The thing is that the book wasn't written by you, it was written by someone who kept records about you. I would like to know what it was like from you directly."

Megan answered, "So you want to hear this from the horse's mouth?"

Spike feeling a bit puzzled then asked, "I don't know why a pony would have to say it for you?"

Megan answered back with, "Spike, that term has nothing to do with any ponies or even horses in that matter. It just means that it was said from someone directly."

Now with a better understanding, Spike said, "I'm just not used to expressions said by humans and by what they mean."

"First of all, I won't blame you for that Spike. However, it would be nice to hear from you, Twilight, on what it was like for you to become a hero for the first time especially since I have hardly known much about you ever since I came back here."

"That's fair enough." said Twilight

Megan started to tell her story by saying, "It started out one night while I was brushing my pony TJ and looking out to the night sky to think I saw a shooting star only to find out that it was Firefly who fell into the nearby well after landing onto a weathervane and having it spin her around a few times before actually falling in."

Twilight then said, "Hearing that almost made me think of Rainbow Dash."

Megan then answered back with, "Keep in mind that she is her ancestor. However, it would have been nice if Firefly did explain herself to me when she came, because she was pretty hasty to go back with me the moment, I got her out her out of the well. Then again, she was pretty optimistic about having me help her and the other ponies free the ones who were taken to Midnight Castle that she even sang a song to help me feel less scared known as "Dancing on Air" as if she believed that I was that one. For some reason, I still felt that she really had nobody in mind and just took whoever she saw at first sight, which happened to be me."

Twilight then asked, "Would you have gone if Firefly did explain why she came to you?"

Megan then answered, "If she did, at least I would know what I would be facing, but that wasn't the case here, though I still think that she wouldn't have given me a choice even she did state her purpose."

After hearing that Twilight then said, "Although I do feel sorry that you had to be dragged into a battle that you didn't originally know about, it still paid off in the end."

As Megan continued her story, she said, "Not too long after Firefly introduced me to her friends, to some of which were you ancestors, I was immediately grabbed by a dragon known as a Stratadon. When I was freed up thanks to Firefly, I almost fell to my death until Scorpan caught me and put me down safely only to tell me to stay out of this fight. After that, your ancestors had me come to rescue them. However, not all of them went, because Glory, who was Rarity's ancestor, was one of the few ponies who stayed behind back over at Dream Castle. As we proceeded, we were crossing a bridge only to have Applejack, who was Applejack's ancestor, fall down having me rescue her and ending up in a giant clam with the Sea Ponies introducing themselves and helping us get out, but I still can't get how many times they kept on touching the bubble we were both in without breaking it, plus they even separated it and put it back together with it still remaining intact. Getting back up, we rejoined those ponies as Twilight, your ancestor, took us to see the Moochick to acquire the Rainbow of Light to help stop Tirac, though he wasn't too keen on it actually working nor did I figure out why he gave the locket to me and not one of the ponies."

Twilight then thought, "Perhaps it was something that he saw that only you could do that a pony couldn't in trying to stop Tirac."

Megan then asked, "Like what?"

"It could have been that he was probably expecting someone like you to show up and use the locket." answered Twilight.

Megan then continued her story and said, "Nevertheless, we made it to Midnight Castle, but the castle looked as if it had no way of getting into without falling into the moat, so I used the seashell the Sea Ponies gave to me earlier, and they told us about a special entrance that could be accessed by having Firefly hit one of the heads of the gargoyles to get in. Unfortunately, we got lost in the castle and Applejack for some reason got captured by one of the guards only to be turned into a dragon along with some of the other captured ponies. At first, I couldn't understand why Scorpan grabbed me, but then I started to realize that maybe he wasn't a bad guy after all as he even freed Ember and Spike, who was used as insurance to make sure he was doing Tirac's bidding."

Spike interrupted Megan's story and asked, "Why was my ancestor considered insurance to make Scorpan serve Tirac?"

Megan answered, "It was because if Scorpan refused or failed to get any four adult ponies to use for his chariot, your ancestor would have been killed right on the spot by Tirac with him witnessing it and he didn't want that to happen."

Spike then realized, "I can see why Scorpan wasn't given much of a choice."

Megan then went on to continuing her story and mentioned, "At first we did manage to get the bag containing the Rainbow of Darkness from Tirac, but he did manage to get it back after on the Stratadons stopped Firefly from leaving. Scorpan did try to fight back, but he managed to get hit hard, though he was lucky enough to have a haystack break his fall otherwise he would have really been hurt. It was then time for me to finally use the Rainbow of Light to fight back only to find it that it was very small, but for some reason absorbed his rainbow and became bigger, which allowed for him to be killed. As a result, everything he changed with that said rainbow changed back including Scorpan, who was originally a prince. However, Spike only stayed the same due to the fact that he was always a baby dragon, and even decided to stay with the ponies rather than go back with Scorpan. After that was all over, I said good-bye to all of the ponies and went back home to see TJ again, but for some reason I never saw any of those ponies ever again, and when I came back to Ponyland, and I was with completely different ponies that I never saw before."

After feeling touched by her story, Twilight noted, "Although I won't argue with the fact that Firefly dragged you in without even stating why she came, it still seemed that everything went well in the end. What I don't understand is why you never saw any of those ponies ever again. Also, when did you meet of the ancestors of Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy, because you didn't seem to mention them being there?"

"First of all, I could never understand why I never saw any of those ponies again including Firefly. When I came back, I was brought by a new Pegasus known as Sky Dancer, though that was where I met Posey, who was Fluttershy's ancestor for the first time Also, I encountered the Bushwoolies for the first time, who were originally slaves to Catrina, plus this was where I learned that the Rainbow of Light could be used for other things such as controlling the weather. As for Surprise, who was Pinkie Pie's ancestor, I first met her when trying to stop the witches from trying to destroy Flutter Valley in response for thwarting them for when they used the Smooze to cover all of Ponyland." replied Megan.

Twilight then said, "At least now I know how you met our ancestors as well as became the savior of Ponyland."

Twilight's first adventure

View Online

After Megan mentioned her first adventure from her perspective she then said, "Twilight, now it would be nice to hear what it was like for your first adventure from your side of the story."

As Twilight kept her promise, she started by saying, "It started out when I was reading a book known as the "Tale of the Two Sisters", which talked about how Celestia banished her sister to the moon. Along with Spike, I later on found a book that did tell me that there was a prophecy that Nightmare Moon would return on the Summer Sun Celebration. However, I was stopped by Celestia herself in claiming that I was wasting my time reading nothing but dusty old books."

Megan interrupted Twilight and asked, "What was the real reason she mentioned that? Was it because she just thought you spent too much time reading books, or was it because she was in a state of denial on banishing her sister and wanted to forget all about that?

Twilight then answered and continued her story by stating, "I'm not exactly sure which one it was, though either one could have been the case, but Celestia insisted that I should take some time off from studying to make some friends in her claim that I was too much of a bookworm. Nonetheless, I was told to go over to Ponyville to help set up for that said celebration. When I got there, I met some ponies such as Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie, who would help me set up for the event. However, when we approached town hall, we started to see Nightmare Moon appear for some reason while Celestia herself was nowhere to be found, and she even mentioned how she was going to bring eternal darkness to all of Equestria starting with Ponyville."

Megan then said, "First of all, I'm surprised that Celestia wanted you to have friends. That just doesn't seem like her to say that to any of her students. As for Nightmare Moon showing up after being banished, it was interesting that neither of the two played a role in her release, because Luna had no idea how she got back, while Celestia claimed that she did absolutely nothing to release her. Maybe you knew what got her out of the moon, because they didn't seem to know."

As Twilight explained, "It was possible that her banishment was timed and that a special alignment of the stars was part of a timer that was keeping track of such. My guess is that her thousand years banishment was finally over, and she was allowed to return. However, I still couldn't figure out why Celestia herself wasn't there when she showed up, so I decided I would take on Nightmare Moon by myself."

After hearing that statement Megan then claimed, "At least you had a choice in going after Nightmare Moon not to mention you knew what was going on before engaging in such unlike me, who was just dragged in order to help stop Tirac without even knowing about any of it first."

"To this day, I feel very sorry about how you were first brought in to help the ponies of your time, but sometimes you need to remember about what I said earlier about sometimes how the wrong choices in the short run can be the right decisions in the long run." explained Twilight.

"I guess you're right about that." said Megan.

Twilight then continued with her story, "At first I was going to do it all alone, but then those ponies who were going to help me set up for the event decided to help me even though I didn't want them to. Seeing that they weren't going to take no for an answer, they helped me find the book over at the Golden Oaks Library that would tell us where to find the Elements of Harmony to help beat her by heading to Castle Everfree where the two used to reside. As it turned out, each of us seemed to have a connection to the said elements as there were six of them."

Megan asked, "How so?"

Twilight then said, "First, Applejack represented honesty by claiming that I will be saved by letting go of her hooves in that I will be saved by Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy. Second, Fluttershy represented kindness by telling us to stop attacking the manticore only to find out that it had a thorn stuck in its paw and wasn't even harmful. Third, Pinkie Pie represented laughter by singing a song that would help us laugh away our fears as the trees turned back to normal. Fourth, Rarity represented generosity by giving a sea serpent who was blocking the river her tail to replace the other half of the mustache that he lost. Fifth and finally, Rainbow Dash represented loyalty by ignoring those Shadowbolts to help fix the bridge to help us get across."

Out of interest, Megan then asked, "What element did you represent, because you didn't seem to mention the one that happened to be yours?"

Twilight then continued her story and said, "The interesting part is that the sixth element was originally unknown as the book didn't mention it unlike the other five. As I managed to get into the castle, I found the orbs only to have Nightmare Moon smash them as if she believed that they couldn't be used. However, that didn't stop me as believing the spirits of the elements could still be used as they transformed into necklaces for my friends, while mine became a crown for knowing what the sixth and final element was, which happened to be magic. On a side note, gaining the new version of the Elements of Harmony did allow for Rarity to have her tail grow back. Nonetheless, we were able to use them to defeat Nightmare Moon and change her back to who she really was, which was Princess Luna. After her defeat, Celestia showed up and forgave her for everything she did, and we all went back to Ponyville to resume the celebration only now with Luna being there and being introduced to the crowd. Although Celestia wanted me to return to Canterlot after all of this, I insisted on staying in Ponyville to learn more about the magic of friendship and I would report anything back to her when needed."

After hearing all of this, Megan, now feeling curious, asked, "What I don't get here is that why didn't Celestia just take on Nightmare Moon herself when she returned, which made you have to do it instead of her?"

Twilight answered, "Again, as I have said in my story, I had no idea where she was at the time, but if someone had to stop her, it had to be me not matter what dangers I would be facing for doing so."

After that, Megan commented, "I take it that the Elements of Harmony can also act as a purifier in that if a creature isn't truly evil, they can be changed back into who they were originally."

Twilight then mentioned, "That is very true, and the same thing happened to Sunset Shimmer when she took my crown, though for that one, though it was just my crown alone that was able to do that with the help of the friends I made there who reminded me of the ones back in Equestria."

Megan then asked another question, "How come nobody raised any questions or suspicions when they saw Luna at the end especially since it seemed as if she appeared out of the blue after being gone for a thousand years not to mention that it was first time the rest of the town even knew about her?"

Twilight then said, "Unfortunately, there is no clear answer for that, though it could have been that they just didn't care about it after what had just happened. Maybe they just wanted to get on with the celebration. Either way, it was probably better at the time they didn't know that Luna was Nightmare Moon and probably for her sake, because she might have persecuted greatly if they did with the possibly of wanting Celestia overthrown for wanting to keep a former monster by her side even if she happened to be her sister."

Megan then said, "I can see why that was the case until now."

Sharing other related stories

View Online

After both Megan and Twilight shared their stories about what made them heroes for the first time, they started to realize that they started to have certain things in common.

Megan said, "Hearing about Nightmare Moon calling for eternal darkness does seem to remind me of Tirac for some reason."

Twilight asked, "What was Luna's reaction when you told her that?"

Megan then answered, "She did acknowledge the fact that her idea wasn't something new, and she did feel better when I told her that she wasn't like Tirac for the fact that she got changed back to herself rather than being killed after what she did in that form."

Twilight then said, "Mentioning to her that she wasn't truly evil compared to who you had originally faced was probably the right thing to do."

Megan started to ask, "Until recently, did any other ponies besides you and your friends along with Celestia know that she was Nightmare Moon?"

Twilight answered, "I won't say that they knew exactly, but there was a time when they thought she could have been that monster when she was celebrating Nightmare Night, which is our version of what you call Halloween, for the first time. That came when she tried to rescue a colt known as Pipsqueak after he fell in the tub with apples, which was taken the wrong way in that they thought that she might have been trying to eat him, but they didn't really claim that she was Nightmare Moon, it was more of what she did that reminded them of such. However, I did help her try to enjoy that celebration, but it wasn't easy considering the way she was known for being loud and assertive. For some reason when Pinkie Pie ran away from her, she claimed that she wasn't really scared of her, and that gave me an idea to help Luna by pretending the scare the foals by taking her form as Nightmare Moon, but she would use fake fangs for teeth, so that if any of them looked back, she could claim that it was all part of an act. After that, she agreed to bring back Nightmare Night and the ponies there were happy about it."

"Talk about dodging a bullet with having a dark side like that." said Megan.

"You mean like the time you almost shot her when she came to your ranch the other night?" responded Twilight.

Megan then explained, "Actually, that expression has nothing to do with guns and real bullets, but rather just getting out of the way at the last minute. As for that incident, I didn't really know it was her until I turnned on the flashlight especially because her fur is dark enough to blend in with the darkness. However, she did admit that she shouldn't have approached me the way she did, but I will admit that she did dodge one literally that night."

After understanding what Megan mentioned, Twilight said, "I won't argue with you against that, though I will have to learn how to get used to expressions that you humans use especially since we ponies' aren't used to hearing."

Megan then mentioned, "I will admit that sometimes I don't think about things before I do them. For example, there was the time when I was helping the princess ponies stop a being known as Lavan, who could make himself stronger by using their magic wands to make himself more powerful to stop the Ice Orgs. With the only one of those ponies not captured, I originally believed that I could stop him with the Rainbow of Light, but a magic wave made me drop the locket making us head over to the Moochick to help find another way to beat him. He told us that they can beat with by getting back their wands and using them against him. As it turned out, there really was no real dispute between the rest of lava demons and Ice Orgs, and they were willing to help us free the others who were captured. After the pony princess were able to recharge their wands after getting them back with the Heart of Ponyland, they were able to reflect Lavan's attack back at him and kill him. Fortunately for me, the Bushwoolie who was originally presumed dead was still alive and brought back the locket after it was all over."

Twilight then brought up a similar story and said, "When Celestia made me both a princess and an alicorn for the first time, I thought that I had everything made for me, but it turned out that it wasn't the case. I couldn't even fly right or even use my horn correctly. Thanks to Rainbow Dash, I was able to fly right. However, that's not all what happened that day as both Celestia and Luna went missing making me figure out why that was the case especially with both the sun and moon up at the same time of the day. At first, I thought it was Discord who was responsible for their disappearances, but it turned it that it wasn't his doing. Zecora did give me a potion that would help me see a flashback, but it showed me in front of Luna being very angry and turning into Nightmare Moon as if there could only be one princess in that being her. Another flashback showed me how the two princesses managed to stop Discord from spreading his chaos, while another one allowed me to find out about the Tree of Harmony. As it turned out, we needed to return the Elements of Harmony to the tree to help stop expanding vines from Everfree Forest, which in turn freed both Celestia and Luna, who were captured by the vines. Fortunately, the Tree of Harmony was able to stop the plunderseeds that Discord planted, though he told me in the end that learning about this was to teach me a lesson."

Megan then mentioned, "If you think that's something, the Sea Ponies once found a chest that turned out to be full of magic coins that could grant wishes. What the ponies didn't know is that when they stepped on one of the coins, their wishes got granted as the very coins that were used started to disappear. For example, Fizzy wished for larger, stronger bubbles only to have Molly engulfed in one of them making me and Wind Whistler having to rescue her. Meanwhile, Baby Lickety Split made two wishes with the first being for more food with the other and wanting to make the rain go away. However, she didn't realize that she was a causing a drought that hurt the Sea Ponies in the long run. Unfortunately, the wishes weren't reversible with any of the coins that we had left after seeing what they actually did, so we had to see the Moochick in how to undo the wish that made it stop raining. He told us to find a troll named Niblick, who was capable of reversing that wish, but we were told that it wouldn't be so easy to get him to do so due to his nastiness. We had to use another wish to fend off the goblins in order to save Galaxy, who was being chased by them. As we got to his lair, he refused to let his in just because we used up his magic coins, but we claimed that if we found a treasure that was equal in value to the coins, he would promise to reverse that wish, which wasn't an easy task either as he didn't seem pleased by any of what me and my friends, plus both me and Wind Whistler used another wish just to avoid falling into a lava pit by making ourselves temporary lighter. When all looked lost, I listened to Wind Whistler on what could be done and had Fizzy take me back to Niblick to use the last coin to give him a friend, and that's what finally got him to reverse all the wishes especially the one that allowed it to rain again in Ponyland."

Twilight related to that story by saying, "While me and Fluttershy were doing some research on an enchanted flower that was sent by Star Swirl the Bearded, the Cutie Mark Crusaders asked us if either of us could take them to the Appleloosa State Fair, and both of us said that we couldn't. What we didn't know that that a petal was missing as further research was being done in that it was known for granting wishes that apparently made them bigger and older. As we got to the fair, a creature known as Bloofy was running on a rampage, and that the only to calm it down was to get his true caretaker, which happened to be Spur. After both her and Biscuit knew who that they really weren't adults, they started to understand that even like that, it didn't mean that they no longer had to bear responsibility for what they did. Fortunately for them, there was still a petal left, and that allowed for them to make another wish to change themselves back to their regular ages."

Understanding and accepting changes

View Online

After sharing several stories that made them feel as if they had something in common, Megan started to understand that she wasn't so different from Twilight.

"Maybe we're not so different after all." said Megan.

"It seems that whatever story you seem to have, I seem to have something that is almost similar." replied Twilight.

Megan then started to say, "Maybe it's just me saying this, but sometimes changes aren't always for the better."

Twilight then asked, "What do you mean by mentioning this?"

Megan mentioned, "In reality, change can go either way. For some cases it can feel good, but in other cases in can feel bad. Back in my hometown, it became almost unrecognizable thanks to gentrification."

Twilight started to ask another question to Megan, "What exactly is this gentrification you speak of and what exactly defines it?"

Megan answered, "Gentrification is when a city or town loses places that used to originally define it for a good number of generations due to being priced out. For example, we lost a number of mom-and-pop shops for chains and corporations that you can find almost anywhere. Also, there were a number of people that me and my family used to know who are now replaced by hipsters and even yuppies who we have little to no interactions with."

Spike then added, "How come you and your family still live there despite all of those changes?"

"It's mostly for two main reasons. The first reason is that the ranch isn't somewhere that realtors would consider prestigious at least not for now. The other reason is that ever I did help save the ranch by placing it on several social media sites that manage to get customers both near and far, which is why my family can still manage to survive even though much of my hometown hasn't." replied Megan.

Twilight commented, "At least you should be glad that you and your family are still able to live there despite all the changes."

Megan started to sigh and say, "However, I still feel like a stranger even where I live especially seeing places that I'm not used to, and the same sort of applies here as well."

Twilight then asked, "How is that so?"

Megan then mentioned, "When I was last here, this was called Ponyland, not Equestria. Also, there weren't places such as Ponyville, Canterlot, Manehatten, Las Pegasus, Fillydelphia, Seaquestria, the Crystal Empire, and so many other places that still feel new to me. Whenever I look at Paradise Estate, it's one of the few reminders of what was left of what was once the places that I knew."

Twilight then made another comment to Megan and said, "Whether this is Ponyland or Equestria, you're important to us ponies both past and present, but I'm starting to wonder what's really bothering you lately."

Megan then answered, "Perhaps, the real issue has been trying to fit in with what's here now especially when I haven't been around for what's considered thousands of years in your time, plus sometimes it can be very hard to make new friends as if you have to start all over again."

"It's never too late to make new friends. Also, we're here for you now not to mention are descendants of some of the ponies that you once knew." replied Twilight

"That's another thing. You're their descendants, but you're not them. Even if you shared some of their personalities, you're still not them." mentioned Megan.

"Making new friends doesn't have to be difficult, and it's only the case if you allow for that." replied Twilight.

Megan then said, "The truth is that the ponies I used to know we're the closest I had to friends especially since I never could make any friends with my own kind back in my own world, but now I know that they're gone for good."

Twilight started to ask, "Do you know that sometimes we like to sing the song "A True, True Friend"?"

Megan then asked in response, "What about that song?"

As Twilight replied, "We do believe that you are one to us. Believe or not, you did help someone who was in need especially when you helped Luna not only get over her fear of becoming Nightmare Moon, but also helping her seek forgiveness after all she did in that form. She even thanked you for your help. More importantly, you didn't need some adventure to show how much you are still important to us."

Megan commented, "It's not as if she can no longer become Nightmare Moon ever again, and I'm sure that if it wasn't me, you or even Celestia could have helped her with that."

Twilight mentioned, "That might be true, but because of you, she now has better control of it, and I doubt that anyone else would have been able to do what you did. Although I'm the Princess of Friendship, I would have no clue to where to start, while Celestia would most likely brush it off and claim that she was overreacting. However, it was you who was able to reach out to her on that very issue. Even though Luna represents the moon, you were the stars that helped guide her in that situation. One other thing, when she mentioned about Tantabus, it was something she made that would give her nightmares if she ever took that form again, but it backfired, and she still became it anyway despite that."

Megan then noted, "I never thought about that."

While Megan, Twilight, and Spike were having their discussion, the rest of the Mane 6 started to come over and wanted to know what it was all about only to find out that Megan is claiming that present day Equestria isn't for her with each of them asking or making comments on trying to understand why.

Rainbow Dash asked, "What do you mean by not fitting in?"

Applejack then mentioned. "I still feel as if we have only just met."

Rarity claimed, "The ponies that come to my store really do enjoy your clothing."

Pinkie Pie questioned, "Does this mean you are no longer our friend?"

Fluttershy stated, "Just when I was starting to get used to having someone like you around."

Megan explained, "In reality, getting used to new things does take time, and it's not something that can be achieved overnight. I will admit something here. Except for Spike, I have seen each of you more times than I have seen your ancestors. Also, there are times where some of the things you do remind me of them, but in the end, you're not them."

Rainbow Dash then said, "I'm nothing like my great grandmother who happens to have the same name as I do."

Megan asked, "Is it because you happen to be a Pegasus while she was an earth pony?"

Rainbow Dash answered, "That is true, but it has more to do with the fact that she always liked to dress in style when that was usually never the case for me."

Twilight started to mention, "Megan, when you started to cry over when you heard about the ponies you knew that sacrificed themselves to stop Grogar, we each put our hooves on your back to understand how you felt. We realized that you really did care about them. What you displayed was only natural to that. As a matter of fact, I did cry over losing something as well."

Megan started to ask, "What exactly did you cry over losing, Twilight?"

Twilight answered, "I didn't always live at the Castle of Friendship. Originally, I had resided at the Golden Oak Library along with Spike. However, that was until Lork Tirek destroyed it, and I barely got out with Owlowiscious, who was my pet owl. In the process, I lost a lot of my books that I have never seen again since then. The castle where I live in now was given to be by the Tree of Harmony to help replace what I lost."

Rainbow Dash added in and said, "If you don't think I don't cry over losing something or someone, I can still remember how sad I was when I had to let Tank, my pet turtle, go to allow him to hibernate, and I usually don't cry over anything."

Megan then stated, "I can see that maybe we aren't that different after all when it comes to losing things."

Twilight started to state, "Sometimes we have to learn to accept changes whether we like them or not and learn to move on from them."

Megan mentioned, "Maybe you're right Twilight, and changes can be good, but I still don't know if any of you really do see me as a friend considering the time I used to come here before any of you were born."

The Mane 6 started to sing the song "Friendship Through the Ages" to show that she really did belong as well as make the claim how even with new ponies, Megan can be friends with them.

Megan then thought, "As much as I do enjoy seeing new settings and new ponies along with other creatures, I do feel as if I should take a break from coming here. I feel that even a friends should be allowed to have some time to themselves at one point. However, it doesn't mean that I will be gone forever."

"If that's what you want, I won't argue against that, plus the portal will always be here when you're ready to come back." replied Twilight.

Megan the decided to hand over the locket to Twilight and mentioned, "Perhaps, you should have the Rainbow of Light since you don't have the Elements of Harmony anymore. Right now, you probably need it more than I do as a form of protection should any other evil forces come around Equestria. Seeing that it's an Equestrian artifact, it probably belongs here anyway rather than with me."

Twilight started to mention, "You should keep it, Megan. This was yours from the start, and it will remain with as long as you live. There's a good reason why the Moochick gave it to you in the first place. He was sort of expecting a human such as yourself to be there to help stop Tirac. As a matter of fact, I did some research on this and found out that according to a prophecy, it's so powerful that its powers can only be wielded by a creature of that like no other hence a creature that's not native to Equestria or even Ponyland in that matter. In other words, you're the only one who can really use it as it would be useless if we try to."

Megan then said, "I don't understand why you want me to keep it despite the fact that it's from your world."

Twilight explained, "The point is that Rainbow of Light is rightfully yours now as it was then ever since you were declared its keeper by the Moochick himself, and even Star Swirl approved of you having it when he saw you with it, and he knows a lot more about Equestrian artifacts than I do. For some reason, I feel that your adventures aren't exactly over. If Grogar was able to escape the Realm of Darkness despite being unable to get out of there originally, he can probably escape from space as well. However, when he will return again is still unknown to this day."

Megan then stated, "When he returns, I want to be there this time to face him this time, because I don't on plan on missing out on that battle unlike the last one."

"We'll be there to fight with you should he ever return." replied Twilight.

After hearing that, the Mane 7 waved good-bye to Megan as she went back through the portal ready to enjoy her break from coming to Equestria.
