> Logic and Laughs > by Larrydog > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Life's purpose > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “I wonder how Mr. Sandwich is doing,” mumbled Sans Smirk, looking around Cheese’s… err his office. It had been a few months since Cheese Sandwich, the previous head of the laugh factory they both started, went off to give personal smiles for his parties. Still, he did keep his promise, Cheese wrote daily and sent the money he made as well, which helped expand the laugh factory in ways Sans never dreamed of. This choice was logically the best choice for everyone... And yet, something about it felt wrong at the same time. As he was working on paperwork, he couldn’t help but look at the picture of him and Cheese Sandwich that they took when they first met. This was a strange feeling for him. Sans was always the logical type; he always followed and listened to what logic told him to do. But whenever Cheese was around, he always found a way to break that shell of his. The biggest accomplishment was when Cheese made him laugh, something he couldn’t even remember the last time he’d done, if ever. After that, something in Sans changed about how he felt about Cheese… or maybe those feelings were already inside of him, He wasn’t really sure at this point. But as he thought about it, what he felt wouldn’t really matter. Cheese would never have felt like this for someone as dull as himself. Not to mention their conflicting life purposes一Cheese Sandwich was an active party pony, always on the move, and would most likely end up with someone who was just as much of a party pony as he was. Sans himself, well, he was just a boring pony who was content with working at the factory. He could never compare to that一that That was the logical conclusion he reached. That was all there was to it. Yet no amount of logic and trying to push these feelings back seemed to work. As Sans mused on these feelings and finished the paperwork he had in front of him, he decided to head down to see how the production was going today. As he was going down, he heard a small commotion and hurried to investigate. And who should be there but Cheese Sandwich, looking as happy as ever, talking to some of the workers, making them laugh with his jokes. When his eyes saw Sans, his bright smile just seemed to get bigger, which made Sans feel his chest getting really warm. Cheese happily hopped over to him and pulled the blue pony into the hug, making Sans feel even more flustered. “Heya Sansy it's nice to see you again~” “H-hello there sir, w-what are you doing here?” “Well, it's been a while since I’ve been here and I missed my oldest friend, so I came to give you a visit!” he said as cheerful as ever, Sans was so glad he got his mojo back. “And...along with that, there were also some things I wanted to… talk to you about,” he said, his voice getting a tone of seriousness, which left Sans wondering, and could have sworn he saw Cheese’s face turn a shade of red as well. “Of course sir, I would very much like to do that.” “Hehe, silly Sans.” Cheese said, still with a wide smile. “You're the boss now, remember?~” Sans touched his glasses in slight embarrassment. It was still so strange for him to feel things so strongly as he started to recently. After Cheese let out a small laugh, the two walked into the office and closed the door. “So Si…. Mr. Sandwich, what did you wanna talk to me about?” A simple enough question, but as he looked over at his companion, Sans sensed awkwardness in Cheese’s movements and expressions. It was something he had never seen before, which made him slightly worried. “Well… I wanted to talk about… well… I think I fell in love!” he hollered. Sans felt his heart sink a little bit but tried not to let it show as he kept his composure and made an attempt to be happy for his friend, despite his own feelings. “Oh really? I’m very  happy for you, who did you fall in love with?” “Oh well… we're very close friends, we get along really well, and when I told everyone I had feelings for this special somepony nobody was surprised to hear it. Could you know by chance who I might be talking about?” Sans started to think about it and all he could think about was Pinkie Pie. The mare and Cheese had a lot in common and they seemed to get along pretty well. But he didn’t wanna assume. “I-I don’t know, who would that be, sir?… erm Cheese?” Cheese leaned closer to him, and in a very unexpected move, pushed Sans to the door, and opened it. Sans complete surprise一the factory had turned into a full party with a banner that said “I love you Sans Smirk” right in the middle. “Silly! It’s you of course~” “S-sir I… I don't know what to say,” Sans stuttered, unable to process all these mixes of emotions all at once. “I don’t understand, I thought you would be with someone like….” “Pinkie Pie?” the yellow stallion replied, leaving his partner a little embarrassed that he’d known what he was insinuating. “Yeah, we get along fine, but we're just friends. You’ve been with me through thick and thin for the longest time. Whatever I lacked, you always picked it up and I always noticed your loyalty and dedication and I found how much I loved that about you. You make my life better being in it, Sansy!~” Sans could not hide the clear blush on his face after hearing his partner’s declaration. “Cheese...I… I..don’t think I would be very good for you. I’m just a simple pony who would just slow down your life purpose to make others laugh and I just can’t....” but before he was able to say anything else he noticed Cheese’s face leaning closer to his and pressed his hoof lovingly on the blue stallion’s shoulder. “Sans, on the road I was thinking about my life purpose. While I do like going out to make others laugh, nothing makes me happier than hearing your laugh.” Both of their faces were mere inches apart now. “So tell me, Sans Smirk, will you make me the happiest party pony ever and be my party partner in crime for life?” and after hearing all  Any part of Sans that wanted to ask more questions faded away. Sans realized in that moment, that logic and emotions were both important and that was what Cheese brought to his life一emotion to his logic. And in the first moment of impulsiveness in his entire life, Sans closed the gap in between them as he pressed his mouth onto his. This was the first time he ever kissed another pony before, but Cheese seemed to be able to pick up the slack as he pulled Sans closer and took control of the kiss. Their equally shared passion was pleasurable for both of them as they explored each other’s mouths. A huge roar of applause and happiness sounded all around the laugh factory, but they couldn’t hear it; to them, it felt like time came to a stop, and the only ones that existed were them, and a feeling deeper than anything either of them has felt before. After the two finally separated from the kiss, Sans looked at Cheese his mind fuzzy from the kiss. “Mr. Sandwich, are you sure this is what you want to do?” ‘“Of course. It's my life's purpose, after all, and I love you.” Sans gave a wide, bright smile unlike any he’d ever given before. “Well, if that is something you wanna do, I want to as well. I love you, too.” Sans finally figured it out. Love. That was this feeling all along, he was in love with his companion. And after hearing that, Cheese was grinning ear to ear and couldn’t help but kiss him again, in which Sans happily returned. Afterward, the two enjoyed the factory party Cheese set up. Sans pondered how his fiance was able to prepare so much in such a short time of coming back, but he came to the conclusion, that's just Cheese Sandwich for you~ Before long the party quickly became heavily eclipsed by their engagement and marriage afterparties. After Pinkie Pie found out about it, with their powers combined and Sans’ organization, they formed the most intense, spectacular, most amazing parties ever in the history of Ponyville with which everyone was invited. An event that would go on to put every other party that has or will ever exist to shame, and that was a Pinkie promise. And as the afterparty went on with Pinkie, her friends and everyone else who arrived had fun, Sans reflected on everything as he looked at his now-husband Cheese Sandwich who had his hoof draped on his back while he was talking to his friend Pinkie about her previous engagement to Twilight and how much they love their mates, which just made Sans blush which Cheese replied too with a kiss on his cheek. He wasn’t sure how this would turn out, and what the future would bring, but as long as Cheese was there with him, he knew it was all gonna be okay, and that was enough for him.
