> The Much Needed Talk > by Shimmer Bunny > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Much Needed Talk > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was done, over. Equestria was safe again, and this time it had been thanks to everyone. Not just Twilight and her friends, but all of Equestria and their allies had come together to defeat the vile trio. Harmony was restored, and the wendigos had vanished.  Discord watched as the seven of them wandered off to go celebrate and let out a sigh of relief. His plan had failed miserably, and he knew this had been a huge mistake. But it seemed like they had forgotten about it for the time being. At least that was what he had thought until.... "Thou really didn't thinketh this through, didst thee?" A voice with a twinge of annoyance and anger came from behind him. He turned to face the two alicorn princesses standing behind him, both having looks of disappointment on their faces that akin to an angry mother. Discord felt his ears go back against his head as he looked at them. He rubbed the back of his neck as he let out a nervous chuckle. With a stutter, he spoke. "I-I suppose I should have seen it coming that they would have stabbed me in the back… For a creature who can sense chaos coming from an eternity away, I was really dumb."  “Thou thinketh?!?!?” Luna interrupted with her sarcastic wit as she snapped at Discord for even saying it. He backed away from the dream-walking alicorn. He sighed softly, having the decency to look apologetic.   "I was so caught up trying to help Twilight feel like she was ready for the throne that I..." He couldn't finish the sentence as he looked at the stone prison holding Tirek, Cozy Glow and Queen Chrysalis. He was hoping that wasn't his fate after the stupidity he had just committed. He wouldn't blame them if it was. It had been a huge misstep on his part after all. How thoughtless and idiotic could he be? What was he even thinking at the time? Oh, right. He wasn’t. Discord turned to the sky "Excuse me I'm the only one who can break the fourth wall around here!" He said to the protogen writing this story.  "Discord, pay attention! I don’t know who you are talking to, but this is a matter of whether or not you get to stay unstonified! Your little “test” for Twilight endangered Equestria.  What in Tartarus did you think was going to happen? That they would have respect for Grogar and listen to his every order without thinking twice? These are unreformed enemies we're talking about. The idea of trying to give Twilight self confidence to become a ruler was a nice thought, but the execution of this idea was massively misjudged. The only reason you're not getting trapped in stone is because you helped to fix your terrible mistake. Not to mention that losing you would hurt a certain pony." Celestia said, her voice soft as she spoke. Discord hung his head, clearly ashamed of his thoughtless actions. He knew how much he had let everyone down.  "So what is my punishment?" He asked them, expecting them to say Tartarus or prison time or a blast from the orbital friendship cannon. Anything but what was said next. "Oh, speaking of which, we're letting Fluttershy decide what to do with you." Celestia said, causing Discord to gulp. In the heat of the moment and everything calming down,he had forgotten that Fluttershy knew about this.   “I’m not going to hear the end of this….” He thought to himself, shuddering. Especially not after he had promised her that this would never happen again. Not after his fiasco with Tirek the first time. He was not looking forward to this at all. Though knowing her, it might be a few months on the couch. Or a year at the most. But it was the knowing that he had disappointed her, his first friend, his... He didn't want to say it right then, since it might not be true particularly after what he had done to destroy her trust again. Another sigh came out of him. The princesses had known the right punishment to dish out this time. Knowing he had hurt his Fluttershy again was haunting him. They had been lucky that no one had been injured or worse.  "You two can be so cruel." He said, looking at them. The princesses laughed as he looked down again.  "Not as cruel as we could be after what thou did. We are being most kind to let thy marefriend punish thee. Or wouldst thou rather I go Nightmare Moon upon thy flank?" Luna quipped as Discord shuddered at the thought before realizing what she said about Fluttershy.  "She's not.... I mean... We're not... It's complicated!" he said with a stutter as the two alicorns laughed again.  "So you haven't even told her yet." Celestia said while laughing. Discord just rubbed the back of his neck again as he blushed. Sure he really had fallen for the pastel yellow pegasus, but after all of this.... Would she even forgive him? Would she even agree? The older alicorn noticed the look on his face and walked over to him, pulling him into a hug.  "Discord... As your friend and your ex, tell her. The worst she'll do is say no. And I honestly have seen how she looks at you. You can't tell me that she doesn't feel the same." She said, sighing. "Now go find her... before we change our mind and decide to turn you back into a statue after all. Or worse…"  One of Luna’s eyes turned into a slit. Celestia didn’t get to finish her sentence as he gulped, snapping his fingers and teleporting out of there. Luna looked at her sister with confused eyes.  "Dear sister, thou art not seriously thinking about changing our plan and turning him to stone, art thou?" She asked, Celestia laughing.  "Of course not, dear sister. Just as you weren’t serious about turning into Nightmare Moon. I just wanted him to get out of here, so we can start cleaning up the garden." She said with a laugh.  "And thou didn't think Discord could help us with a snap of his fingers..." "Oh... oops." Celestia looked around at the mess. “I suppose community service could have been a good punishment as well.”  “Thou thinketh?!?!?!”
