A Friend in Help

It was a normal day at the Cutie Mark Crusaders Clubhouse. The three fillies, Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo, were having a nice chat.

“You’ve never had toppings on your pizza before?” asked Scootaloo.

“Well, yeah,” replied Sweetie Belle.

“Not even pepperoni?”

“Yup. Even when there is pepperoni, I just take it off.”

“But why?” Apple Bloom asked, joining into the conversation. “Ah mean, Ah’m not judgin’, just wonderin’.”

“I guess I just kinda grew up with it. I don’t know.”

“Honestly, I rather you like no toppings than eating pineapple on your pizza.”

“Yeah… of course,” Apple Bloom said nervously. “Actually, now that you mentioned that Scootaloo, did y’all know that there are some ponies who eat kiwi on pizza?”

“Ewwwwwww,” said the two other fillies.

“DISGUSTANG!!!” exclaimed Scootaloo.

“Pineapple on pizza doesn’t sound too bad, but kiwi, ugh.” Sweetie Belle stuck her tongue out with the thought of that idea.

“Ah remember a YouTuber, Guava Juice, did a video of weird food combinations. One of ‘em was pizza and banana.”

“What happened when he ate it?” Scootaloo asked curiously.

“He chucked the pizza at the wall.”

The fillies started bursting out in laughter but were then interrupted by a knocking of the clubhouse door.

“Wonder who that can be?”

Apple Bloom opened the door and was greeted with a dark brown colt. He had an orange mane with a propeller hat.

“Can Ah help you?” Apple Bloom asked.

“Well, yes,” replied the colt. “Is this the Cutie Mark Crusaders Clubhouse?”

“Why yes.” Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle walked up beside Apple Bloom. “We are the Cutie Mark Crusaders. We help ponies get their cutie marks.

“Cool! My name is Button Mash. I need help trying to find my cutie mark.”

“Don’t worry Button,” Scootaloo assured. We’ll do everything it takes to help you find your cutie mark. Right girls?”

Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle nodded their heads ‘yes’.

“Well then. Let’s get to it!” Apple Bloom announced.

Maybe This is More Your Style

The four ponies had arrived at Cutie Mark Day Camp.

“So Button. How about we start with the Horseshoe Toss,” Apple Bloom suggested. “Do you know how to play?”

“Yeah. You just throw the horseshoe at the pin right?”

“Mm-hmm.”

Apple Bloom picked up a yellow horseshoe with her mouth and tossed it. The horseshoe went flying till it hit the pin wrapping around it. Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo repeated the same thing.

“Your turn Button. Give it a try.” Sweetie Belle lit up her horn and gave Button Mash a blue horseshoe. Button Mash picked up the horseshoe in his mouth, tossed it, and missed the pin completely.

“Aw man.”

“That’s alright. Here, try again.” Apple Bloom handed (hoofed?) Button another horseshoe. Button tossed it again and missed. After tossing three to four more horseshoes, he had missed every single one. Button had a sad expression on his face

“Aw cheer up Button.” Scootaloo went up to put her hoof around the sad pony. “Not everypony gets their cutie mark on the first try. Plus, we still have tons of things for you to try out. You’re bound to get your cutie mark in the other activities we have planned for you.”

The statement put a little smile on the little colt.

“Maybe parkour is more your thing.” Scootaloo led Button Mash to a replica of the Wonderbolt Obstacle Course. The course was filled with tires, tubes, haystacks and more.

“It’s on the ground since not everypony can fly. Now come on!” Scootaloo hopped into the course and climbed through and out the blue tube.

“Your turn Button!” she cried. “Give it a try!”

Button followed Scootaloo and made it through the tube.

“There you go!”

Scootaloo then jumped through some hoops. Button followed and succeeded.

“Way to go Button!” cheered Apple Bloom.

“Yeah!” Sweetie Belle cried.

Button was ecstatic. He was proud! He might actually get his cutie mark.

Last, was the Tire Run. Scootaloo successfully jumped from tire to tire. Now it was Button’s turn. Button put a hoof in one tire, and another in another tire. Suddenly, Button got one of his hooves stuck and tripped, tires going everywhere.

“Oof!” he cried.

The Cutie Mark Crusaders ran over to the colt.

“Are you okay Button?” Apple Bloom asked.

“Ugh… yeah. Did I get my cutie mark?”

Sweetie Belle cleared the tires with her magic and helped Button up. She then checked his flank. “Nope.”

“Dang it.” Button had gotten his hopes up way too high.

“It’s okay Button,” Sweetie Belle assured. “Again, we have tons of activities planned. We won’t give up till you get your cutie mark.”

“Yeah!” Apple Bloom and Scootaloo said in unison.”

“Aw, thanks guys,” Button said with a little smile.

“Maybe art is more your thing.” Sweetie Belle led the other ponies inside a little hut. She grabbed a blank canvas, some paint, and two paint brushes for herself and Button.

“Let’s draw something simple.” Sweetie Belle picks up her brush, dips it in black paint and paints a pony. “Now you try.”

Button picks his brush with his mouth and tries to replicate the pony Sweetie Belle just drew.

“Good. Let’s draw something else.” Sweetie Belle dipped her paintbrush in orange paint and created a triangle on her canvas. She then dipped her brush in yellow and made yellow circles in the triangle, creating a pineapple pizza.

“Really Sweetie Belle?” Scootaloo asked disappointedly.

“Shush your mush!”

Button replicated the pineapple pizza onto his canvas.

“Alright Button! The final thing we’ll draw is a train.” Sweetie Belle dipped her paintbrush in pink, making a rectangular shape. She then painted four, yellow wheels at the bottom. Finally, she used grey paint for the face of the train, the funnel, and bumper, representing the Friendship Express. Button not only painted a train, but also coaches at the back of it.

“Wow, that looks great!” said Sweetie Belle.

Button made a big smile then checked his flank, imagining a paintbrush, a canvas, or a paintbrush with a canvas as his cutie mark. Unfortunately, there was nothing.

“Don’t be sad Button.” Apple Bloom walked up to the young colt. “Again, tons more activities. You’re sure to get your cutie mark at one of them. Now, let’s keep going.”

PvP: Pony vs Pony

The Cutie Mark Crusaders have been doing activity after activity and Button Mash still doesn’t have his cutie mark.

“What do we do y’all?” Apple Bloom panicked. “We’ve done tons of activities an’ Button still doesn’t have his cutie mark.”

“I don’t know. He hasn’t gotten a cutie mark from any of the activities,” Scootaloo added.

Sweetie Bell had a worried face until an idea came into her head. “Girls! I think I know how to get Button Mash his cutie mark!”

“How so?” asked Scootaloo.

“We should ask him what he likes. Whatever he likes, he’ll just do that, and maybe he might get his cutie mark.”

“That’s a great idea,” Apple Bloom said. “Come on girls!”

The Cutie Mark Crusaders ran back to Button Mash.

“So Button, what do you like to do?” asked Sweetie Belle.

“Well, I like playing video games.”

Scootaloo bursted into excitement. “I like video games too! What’s your favorite game?”

“Minecraft.”

“I like Minecraft too! Say what, how about you and me have a battle, best out of ten?”

“Sure.”

The Cutie Mark Crusaders and Button ran all the way to Button’s house. Two screens were on and ready.

“So Button? Do you know everything about Minecraft PvP?”

“Well, not really.”

“Okay. Now is a good time to teach you some basics.”

After a couple minutes of tutoring, Button was ready to face Scootaloo. Both of them had diamond armor, a shield, a crossbow, sword, and axe.

“I’ll go easy on you and then escalate.”

The first battle started. Button Mash finished it with an axe crit.

“Alright, I’m gonna make this one quick.”

Second battle, Button Mash headshotted Scootaloo with his crossbow.

“Okay, beginner's luck. But don’t expect to win the last seven.”

***

“Alright, so it’s 8-1, but that’s not a problem. I was just joking those last times. Now I’m serious.”

Ninth battle, another win for Button.

“AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!” Scootaloo rage quitted and tackled Button.

“AAAAHHHH!!” Button screamed as Scootaloo pinned him to the floor.

“Scootaloo stop!” Apple Bloom screamed as she and Sweetie Belle separated her from Button.

“What’s going on in there?” asked Button’s mom.

“Nothing!” said Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle.

“What did you do that for?!” Sweetie Belle asked concernedly.

“This guy is hacking!” Scootaloo exclaimed. “I swear this kid is using aimbot with that crossbow!”

“No he isn’t!” Apple Bloom confirmed. “An’ that wasn’t very nice Scootaloo. He was just tryin' to get his cutie mark.”

Scootaloo let out a deep breath. “I’m sorry Button. That wasn’t a very nice thing for me to do. You were just trying to find your destiny. Are you okay?”

Button was panting from the past event. “Yeah… I’m… I’m okay.”

After saying that, Scootaloo noticed something on the colt’s flank. “Whoa. Look at your cutie mark Button!”

Button turned his head to his flank and was smiling. On there, was a grey plus sign with a circle in the middle of it with triangles surrounding it. It looked like a button on a controller.

“Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh!! Thank you SO much Cutie Mark Crusaders!”

“You’re welcome Button,” they all said in unison.

Button then went running to his mother. “Mom! I got my cutie mark!”

“Well Crusaders, another day, another pony getting their cutie mark,” said Apple Bloom.

“I want a rematch,” Scootaloo whispered.
