> The Tsundere Moon > by Twilight Star > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > It's Not Like… I Like You or Something… Fool... > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nightmare Moon couldn’t feel anything but her heart pounding with joy as she watched Twilight read a book intently in bed, not noticing Nightmare Moon watching her with a smile on her face, but it wasn’t a mean smile, but a loving, passionate smile. It was a smile that many of the ponies would never have imagined seeing or witnessing on the Mare on the Moon. Since her thousand years of banishment on the moon, she had planned nothing more than to destroy Celestia and bring eternal night to Equestria. But if there was one thing she didn’t expect after returning to Equestria after a thousand years on the moon, it was that when she was defeated once more by the Elements of Harmony, she wasn’t banished to the moon again or destroyed, but she was separate from Luna. And who was it who used the Elements of Harmony on her after her return to Equestria? It was the unicorn she was just now watching read a book in bed.  She was so focused on Twilight that she didn’t notice the unicorn had stopped reading her book and was looking at her with a worried look. “Nightmare Moon? Are you okay?”  Nightmare Moon’s greenish dragon slits diminished as she heard Twilight’s voice, she closed her eyes and shook her head, pulling out of her thoughts. Nightmare’s ears shyly lowered and her cheeks turned red, her passionate gaze shifted to an assertive expression.  “O-of course, you fool! Why wouldn’t I be?” asked Nightmare Moon in an irritated and shy way.  “It’s just that you’re standing there in place. Do you need something?”  “What? I don’t need anything… other than to be together,” Nightmare Moon whispered the last sentence, a small smile on her muzzle as she looked to the right.  “Sorry, what did you say?” asked Twilight, not quite hearing what the black mare said in the last sentence.  Nightmare Moon’s ears perked up at the question and she looked back at Twilight, her smile quitting out of her face. “N-nothing!”  Twilight raised an eyebrow in a confused way, swearing that Nightmare Moon had said something, but she decided to forget about it. “Well, would you like to read this book with me in bed?”  “Sure, but don’t get it wrong. I want to read with you because it’s boring here,” the black alicorn looked shyly to the right side, a hoof raised beside its knee. “I-it’s not like… I wanted to keep you company or something… fool.” She then walked over to the bed and sat on the left side of Twilight.  Twilight soon returned to her reading after that. What Twilight didn’t notice was that Nightmare Moon was smiling, and her cheeks were red again because she was so close now to the purple unicorn.  I-i don’t believe it! I’m close to Twilight! And to top it off, she invited me to read along with her! I think I’m going to pass out from happiness!  Although Nightmare Moon has always liked the unicorn as a friend since her redemption, she has noticed that she has been feeling awkward these past few days, especially when she was around Twilight. For some reason, her heart beat faster just being next to the purple unicorn, her cheeks even turned red just looking at Twilight. At first, she tried to deny what she felt, as she was Luna’s negative feelings part and she shouldn’t feel positive feelings, but it was no use; because whenever she was up close with Twilight, whether reading a book or watching the stars on the library balcony, positive feelings manifested themselves inside of her. She would never have imagined that she would fall in love with one of her subjects— a subject who was able to defeat her! But despite that, she wanted to confess how she felt towards Twilight, but she didn’t know how to do that.  Putting her hoof in the chin in thought, she began to think of a way she could confess to Twilight. Maybe, she should buy something for Twilight and then confess her love. But what could it be?  Twilight had finished reading her book, closed the book, and let out a sigh on account of the book being a bit long. She looked at Nightmare Moon and noticed her in a thoughtful state. “Nightmare Moon? Are you alright?”  Nightmare Moon snapped out of her thoughts upon hearing Twilight’s voice and looked at her. “Of course I am, you fool! I was just lost in my thoughts.”  “All right! I will prepare a snack for myself now. Would you like one too?” asked Twilight, getting up from the bed.  “No, thanks. I’m going out for a walk,” Nightmare Moon replied, getting up from the bed as well.  “Ok then.” That said, Twilight descended the stairs, with Nightmare Moon behind her. Twilight stopped on the second floor and Nightmare Moon took another step down.  Nightmare Moon wrapped the doorknob with turquoise magic and walked out of the library, closing the door behind her. She looked around the stores in thought, noting if there were any interesting stores she could go in to buy the gift for Twilight.  Let’s see… a book? No, very obvious. And besides, I would like to buy something that is… what is the word again? Oh yes! Romantic.  Until she looked to the right and saw the Carrousel Boutique just ahead, but she waved it away. Better not. As good as it is for a gift, Twilight isn’t as much a fan of clothes as Rarity.  She looked to her left and saw a flower shop, she stopped trotting and put a hoof on her chin in thought. Hmm… flowers? For me to confess my love to Twilight? An evil smile crossed her muzzle. Now, this is something I would like to give...  In the library, Twilight had already finished her afternoon snack and was reading yet another Daring Do book. But her reading was interrupted when she heard the sound of a door opening. So, she left the book on the bed and got out of bed. Walking down the stairs, she saw Nightmare Moon entering and closing the door with turquoise magic.  “Hi, Nightmare Moon! How was the walk-in Ponyville?” asked Twilight, smiling.  Nightmare Moon’s cheeks turned a little red from the sudden appearance of the purple unicorn up to the first floor and also from the cute smile that Twilight always had on her face. Behind her, she held a bouquet with turquoise magic. “I-it was good,” she replied shyly, looking to the left.  Closing her eyes and letting out a breath, she decided that now would be a good time for her to confess how she felt. “Twilight, I need to tell you something,” she began, looking back at Twilight.  “Really? What is?” asked Twilight curiously.  “So Twilight, you know I was born out of Luna’s negative feelings, right?” Nightmare Moon continued.  “Of course, why?”  “So because of that, I’ve kind of never experienced positive feelings. But after you started redeeming me and became my friend… I started to feel positive feelings, and one of those positive feelings is love.” She then looked shyly annoyed to the left side and quickly pulled the bouquet out from behind her, showing it to Twilight. Twilight let out a sigh of surprise as she saw the beautiful flowers, her front hooves were close to her mouth. “I… I love you, you fool. W-would you like to be my marefriend?”   A smile soon formed on Twilight’s face, she could feel tears welling up in her eyes. Nightmare Moon looked at Twilight in surprise when she heard Twilight sniffle, she didn’t expect Twilight to cry. “Twilight? Did I...”  But Twilight didn’t give Nightmare Moon time to finish the sentence and enveloped her in a hug with both front hooves, making the black alicorn’s cheeks turn even redder from the sudden hug. “Of course I accept Nightmare Moon. Since I was tasked with reforming you, I started to develop feelings of love for you. I just hadn’t confessed before because I didn’t think you would feel the same as me because of what happened during the night of the Summer Sun Celebration.”  Nightmare Moon’s surprise soon changed to deep joy, and she returned the hug with a hoof and began lovingly stroking Twilight’s mane. “Imagine, Twilight. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have been separated from Luna and have received my own body. And for that, you have my eternal gratitude.”  After a few minutes, they broke out of the hug and looked at each other with loving smiles, happy to be finally together.  “I love you, Moony.”  “Me too, you fool.”
